The sun was sitting on the very edge of the horizon as Kona rushed home. He had his music player turned up on full, and was bopping his head in time to the rhythm. Occasionally, he'd look around, but for the most part his eyes were glued to the pavement in front of him. There was a faint twitching in the back of his head, the kind he got whenever he felt like he was being followed. Every time he felt that way, something bad happened. The first time, his mother got into a car accident and was hospitalized. The second, the doctors declared her dead even though they had originally said she could be saved. And the third, his father got remarried to someone his son described as a witch and had all his money sucked out of his savings. Kona was positive that the twitching meant bad things, and he wanted nothing more than to get home to his small flat and get some rest.

Kona had had a long day. He'd applied for yet another part-time job to bring in that little bit of extra money, and he could already feel that it hadn't gone well. With a heavy sigh, he flicked some of his long black hair out of his eyes. It was just at the length where it was long enough to be annoying, but too short to tie back. He had the dark, almost black eyes that ran in his family. He'd heard that long ago his ancestors had been from Hawaii, but he wasn't sure how much of that he believed. He unlocked and pushed open the door to his flat too find his small cat winding around his legs, begging for some food. He smiled down at her and picked her up, scratching her head as he rummaged around in the cupboards for something suitable.

His cat fed and eating happily, Kona wandered around the house a bit. Nothing really stood out to him as needing to be done, so he headed back to the kitchen only to find that there was no food in the fridge other than a couple cans of beer, which he was rather confident that his father wouldn't like him touching. He sighed and slammed the fridge door, grabbing his coat and keys and heading outside. He needed to start making dinner, or there wouldn't be any food that night. He headed towards the store, his head bowed yet again as he hurried down the street.

As she'd heard a door slam while waiting outside the home, hiding under the shade of a tree to keep from being as noticeable, Flutter turned to see the familiar figure. Green eyes, pale and dull like the grass before its watered, scanned the area at first to see if there was anyone nearby besides the male that she was tailing. Coast is clear... Of course, it was only clear externally. In her ear, a little device was playing the sound of someone's constant worry- her second in command. "Tawlina, please be quiet so I can concentrate..."

The roads were starting to get dimmer by the minute, she noted quietly to herself. Brushing a clump of her long hair behind her, the blue color being one of the many things that made her stand out compared to most people in the area, she began to flee down the road herself. She took out her small communication device that also acted as an informational unit, finding out what institutions were nearby simultaneously. If she was caught, she'd need to find something that would act as a good cover-up for her similar route to the one she was following.

Kona... He's an interesting character, from what I read in his file. Let's just hope he hasn't already caught on to me. Pushing the thought aside, she shoved her information unit back into the pocket of her cream-colored uniform, rushing to keep up with the boy that, unfortunately for her, was much too fast for a girl who rarely had the ability to move very fast at all.

About halfway to the store, Kona was already visualizing what to make. He was a rather good cook, if he could compliment himself, and he enjoyed putting different things out on the table. Not that his father could tell chicken from salad. It was more so he could get a better understanding of food in general and get into the practice of cooking a lot. The few male friends that he had teased him, calling him feminine for it. He didn't really care. Tonight he would make soup with lots of vegetables. He felt it was a soup night, with the cold air threatening to freeze any rain that fell. He glanced up at the sky, silently begging the clouds heavy with rain to hold off on their shower until he was safely at home.

From the twitch in his head, he could tell that he was being tailed. Great. Maybe it was misunderstanding someone who just happened to be going in the same direction as him. He could only hope. The twitch had never been wrong before. He suddenly skidded to a halt, groping around his pockets. He swore faintly and turned back around, going home. He'd left his wallet sitting on the table. It made him feel like such an idiot! Lost in thought, he barely noticed when he rammed, full force, into a woman.

He took a step back, trying to keep himself from falling, and snapped himself out of his daydreaming. "Ah, I'm sorry..." He trailed off, caught in her appearance. Her blue hair was weird enough, but her eyes, her green eyes... Ironically, the eyes of the woman he'd run into were his favorite shade of green. He blinked a couple times, probably looking partially insane, and shook his head. "Oh, I'm sorry. I wasn't paying attention. Did I hurt you...?" His voice sounded a little off, like he wasn't used to talking. In truth, he'd lost his speech two years back, and his talking speed wasn't back up to par quite yet.

So much for keeping out of sight... Scolding herself internally, Flutter let out a meaningless laugh of some kind, struggling to her feet while using a nearby pole to keep steady. "I-I'm fine. You did startle me, but let that be the end of the world right?" Her legs wobbled for a moment, jelly-like now in consistency. Sometimes she wondered how she did her job- she was so easily scared, especially of contact with others. Yet, wasn't she supposed to be extra brave to do the job she did in that military force she ran?

Dusting off the dirt that had covered her skirt from the fall, she wiped her hands clean on a kerchief before smiling to him more clearly. "It's really alright. Don't worry too much- is something wrong, though? You seem as though you were in a sudden hurry or something. Did you forget something?"

((Sorry, it's a tad shorter but... It works I hope ^^;;))

Once again, Kona was lost in the beauty of her eyes. He didn't even seem to notice the color of her hair, which most people would have found more strange, after the initial glance. He blinked a few times, only being brought back down to earth by the sound of her voice. She was picking herself up. He should've noticed that she was on the ground and helped her up! What kind of man was he? He pursed his lips and tried to ignore the fact that he probably looked very off.

"Oh, um, well, I just forgot something at home and I wanted to get back before it..." As he was speaking, the first couple of drops fell, splashing on the pavement next to him. He stared up at the sky in dismay, finishing his sentence: "Rained." As the storm picked up, he shook his head and grabbed her arm, planning on apologizing later. He didn't see an umbrella on her anywhere, and if she stayed out in the horrible weather she'd get soaked. He tugged her over to a nearby awning and watched as the water hit the ground, creating a sort of rhythm that he fell into in his mind. Rain soothed him, calmed him for what was to come.

It took him a moment to remember that he had dragged a woman over with him. He turned to her, an apologetic smile on his lips. The twitching in the back of his mind had slowly faded; he suspected that the danger had passed safely. "I'm sorry about pulling you over with me. My name is Alakona, but everyone just calls me Kona."

A small smile tugged at her lips. Though it was sincere, it was also just a habit she'd gained through her job- smiles made people more relaxed. If she did, then it would be less suspicious that she was there, wouldn't it?

"It's alright," She soon added. Whether she was telling this to herself or to him was likely questionable, however. "I'd be more surprised, honestly, if you didn't." Alright, so the word honestly probably wouldn't belong there considering it's far from honest anyway... The rain had caught her off-guard, a chill washing through her spine at a rapid rate. No one had mentioned to her that morning that it was bound to rain. She would've worn a jacket with a hood if she'd known! Usually she was warned of the weather if it was expected to be bad. Why wasn't she warned that day? If he'd known, then why hadn't she?

She took some time to get out of her thoughts before the introduction had sunk in. Right- Alakona. I'm here with Alakona. If I am, I have to remember he's here or it'll become detectable that I knew that.... A raindrop rolled down her fingers, showing her she had gotten wet at least a tiny bit before. Shaking off the water, her hand causing her to wince soon after from moving it too speedily, she looked to him finally. "It's nice to meet you, Mister Alakona. My name is Flutter." Somehow, I think he was telling me to call him Kona like the others.... Oh well, too late.

Kona shook his head slowly. "Drop the Mister and the Ala. I don't like my name. It sounds too... feminine." He'd heard from his grandfather that Alakona was actually a girl's name, and that his parents had secretly wanted a girl. They had given him a girl's name to vent some of their frustration over having a boy instead. Alakona sounded like a girl's name, but at least Kona sounded a bit more masculine.

He glanced back at Flutter, his eyes arching at her name. "Flutter, eh? Well, Madam Flutter, it is a pleasure to meet you." He copied her style of adding a prefix to her name, giving her the title Madam. He finished off the sentence with a low boy, one hand on his back and the other at his stomach. A light grin was slipping onto his lips. Usually knowing someone's name made the opposite party a little bit more relaxed.

(( ooc: It's a little short, but the ole' noggin's not working quite yet at this hour. ))

"I don't see how it sounds feminine at all, sir, but perhaps my opinion is rather biased as my isn't feminine nor masculine anyway- it's just a regular word you'd find in any dictionary." Smiling simply, trying to keep her guard up while a little light flickered in her head to show she was probably moving too quickly in terms of becoming at all friendly, she added, "And if I might note, it is rather unfair for you to take away permission from me to show respect in title if you are going to do so anyway..."

She was very stern in her voice- she couldn't catch on to whether it was a silly gesture he'd put out there, or if he was just being a tad on the odd side by not wanting a title but wanting to use one simultaneously. Normally fine with titles, Flutter didn't quite like having a strong sense of familiarity with most people. However, if she couldn't show the similar respect through a title that someone else could, she felt unconsciously wrong if she didn't tell someone not to in the same manner.

((S'okay. I can understand that xP))

Kona shook his head slowly at Flutter's comments. "Ah, but you see, it is called teasing. I don't really want to call you Madam Flutter, but if you want me to, I will, although it is not my first choice in how to address a person." His smile was fading slowly as the rain continued to pour down on the street in front of them. The awning didn't give them complete coverage, and he could feel the water seeping into his bones. He shivered, not liking the feeling at all.

His brain was definitely moving faster than his mouth as he came up with dozens of things to say to fill the silence. He chewed on his lower lip, trying to figure out which phrase to say to get her to relax. She looked a bit tense. But maybe he should just leave it in silence, and let her relax in her own way? He had no idea what to do, so he just left it. Saying anything after the pause would just sound weird, so he turned his head away and tried to look as calm as possible.

"I wish the rain would stop soon," She murmured softly, tugging at her slightly dampened hair. She'd noted he seemed a bit more upbeat when he'd spoken than he seemed now that it was quiet, so she wanted to see if her suspicion was correct. After all, there were many people that found silence more alarming, weren't there?

However, Flutter was what one might call socially awkward- she could think of that one sentence, but after that, her mind was about as blank as a new page in a book being written. There was nothing there- nothing that was legible, anyway. The thoughts were all scrambled, trying to take form. Finally, recalling her last statement, she looked to him with curiosity. "Do you dislike the rain as well? You don't seem all that happy about it either."
