Maria laughed a bit and shook her head. "Then we'd be fighting amongst ourselves. Some would think it's all a conspircy to kill us all while we're trapped in the gym. Not that that couldn't happen anyway."
Shadow smiled and nodded, idly. It seemed he really wasn't all that concerned about this.
Maria started to stare at Shadow. In truth, she wanted to ask him why he was so calm, but then another explosion was heard. The students immediately started to talk about what was going on, but all quieted when the principle of the school came into the gym. "I'm going to be frank with you," he said "all these explosions have been of cars. We're not sure which one exploded first, but we do know that fuel has been spreading around. This is causing more explosions. The fire department is going to be here in two minutes and will hopefully get the situation under control. We'll be investigating who did this shortly." He then walked out of the room without another word.
Shadow arched an eyebrow. "My car was probably first, if it was indeed your friends' planning. In the end, the cameras should stay intact...they're small and covered in protective plastic."
Maria sighed some. "That's true. I'm hoping that this will just end quickly like it would if they did go after your car first."
Shadow nodded, idly. "I hope they don't haul the damaged cars away before I have time to fetch the intact cameras...evidence, you know?" He was keeping his voice down about his cameras.
((Sorry about not posting too often^^;; I've been a bit busy/stressed))
Maria closed her eyes. "Yeah. It would be good to have the evidence. This is assuming it's your car that is damaged." Though she had a feeling that his car was damaged, in one way or another. She also kept her voice down. |
((It's okay. ^^))
Shadow nodded, agreeably, and then glanced around the room. He was hoping the ordeal would be sorted out soon enough, so that he could fetch his camera. He had nothing of importance in his car. He'd learned to keep it all at home. |
Soon enough, the police came into the gym with the principle. "You'll all be questioned about what you did last night, this morning, and what you know about the incident." The principle's voice projected easily across the gym. "This could take awhile and no one leaves until all information has been gathered. Please sit tight." He then walked out of the room before the officers started to talk to students closest to the doors first. Maria couldn't help but sigh.
When Shadow was approached for an interview, he didn't even give the officer time to ask anything.
"I have my suspicions, before you ask me anything. I am a new student here, a senior. I seem to have already angered a group of people who wants to harm me, in one way or another. They keyed my car yesterday, and I haven't seen any of them all day. If a new black jaguar was the first car involved in the accident, then it was this group of people." He turned to Maria, a pleading look on his face. "Please give them their names. Most of their names. Please? I don't know any of them, other than Lanina..." |
Maria only sighed some when the officer looked her way after Shadow had spoken, clearly taking his words seriously. "As Shadow mentioned one is named Lanina. The others are Olive, Nari, Lucey, Karin, and..." She paused to act like she was trying to remember her last friends name, but that wasn't the case. The last person that was in the group was the one she was closer to and knew that the girl had a good head on her shoulders to not be involved in this. "I can't seem to remember the name. We're a pretty loose group accept when Lanina directs us so names haven't been that important." The officer nodded at the information she gave, clearly trusting her since she had given out so much information already.
Shadow seemed to sense that she wanted to protect someone who was worth protecting, and he didn't protest. "That sounds about right..." He glanced around furtively, hoping none of them were in the room and possibly overhearing.
The officer smiled, seeming to find no need to question Maria and Shadow further. "Thank you for your time." he then walked off. Maria sighed some. None of her group had been in school today, and it took her until now to really notice that.
Shadow had noticed, subtly, but he hadn't felt the need to say anything. Besides, if the group was caught...then the heavy fines they'd all be subjected to would be more than enough to pay for the damages to his car. And to the cars of others.
She pulled her knees up to her chest. "You know how bad this is going to be if they didn't do it? Or if not all of them were connected with it?" Maria started toying with her pencil between her fingers.
"They're high-school girls who believe that there's no way they're going to get caught. I think the stress of having police officers looming over them, and the seriousness of the charges, will promote the truth, whether they did it or not. I can always claim I knew all of their names, if they ask you about it, should they be innocent. They already hate me."
Shadow seemed quite confident... |
Maria shook her head some. "I don't see how they would believe you that you knew their names though." She wished she could be as confident as he was.
"I memorize names quickly enough. If any of them, including Lanina, were in any more of my classes...they would have noticed this already. I could already identify everyone," Shadow assured her, ever-confident. "Even so, it's not like I will let them do anything to you."
Maria managed to smile some. "Alright." She did feel a bit better after he had said this. It was just then that the officers left the gym and the students started to talk again, seeming to have calmed down because everything appeared to finally be under control.
Shadow stretched a bit. "...Perhaps they will cancel school today because of this," he said, almost hopefully. It seemed he would much rather be doing something more pleasurable--schools bored him.
Maria laughed a bit. "they probably will, and it's probably going to be soon." the principle then came into the room. "You all may leave for the day. The buses are waiting outside...for those who may not have a car or are not going to be allowed to theirs, you'll either have to walk or actually ride the bus for once." The principle then opened all the doors.
Shadow grinned. "All right...shall we go survey the damage?" He scuttled over towards the principal. "Excuse me, sir. Out of pure curiosity, was a black Jaguar the source of the explosion?"
Maria got up and followed Shadow. The principle frowned some. "Not the original explosion."
"Oooh. So it was involved, then. My apologies--I thought some old ghosts of my past were coming back for me..." Shadow's personal record would show, if investigated, that he had many enemies over in Europe. He'd angered an Italian mafia boss after flirting with her daughter...
((Sorry about my replying habits lately. Just letting you know that I'm graduating, so that has kept me busy. Also, due to the heat because we don't have an air conditioner...it gets really hot and all I want to do is sleep and keep my computer turned off because that heats up my room. The next two weeks are going to be even busier so I'm not sure how often I might be able to post/feel like posting))
The principle merely nodded and then went out of the gym to make sure students were leaving and not sticking around to see the damage. |
