The first day of school was always hectic.

There was a giant senior class this year, and they were all rowdy, running around like maniacs. Of course, there would be one more addition to this class.

This boy got quite a few funky stares from his soon-to-be classmates as he walked down the pathway to the front of the school, a plain black messenger back slung over his shoulder--mostly because of his sharp golden eyes, oddly-colored azure hair...

...and, of course, he was quite attractive. He had soon acquired a mini fanclub of sorts--a group of girls was following him around, giggling and whispering about him. It looked sort of funny...

The first day of her senior year at this school and already it seemed like school would take forever to get over with. The first bell to get to class hadn't rung, so her and her group of friends sat around the front steps like usual. Mostly what they did was to scope out the new freshman that would be around, to either pick on them or welcome them if they were cute enough. They were chatting about the last person that went into the school early when she decided to look around. Her green eyes caught a new male walking their away. Quickly she fixed her black hair behind her ears and nudged the others to pay attention. Once they did though, there was laughter over this new males fanclub.

The boy didn't head inside just yet--instead, he sat down on one of the small tables provided outside for lounging students, setting his bag down next to him.

His 'fanclub' seemed to find this an opportune time to test him. One girl--a very prep-ish one with a seemingly insatiable giggling problem--was sent out first. She sat across from him. In a mere twenty seconds, she stood up and walked away, a very strange look on her face--a mix between disbelief and incoming tears.

One by one, the rest of these girls sat down across from him, flirting rather shamelessly. And, just like the first girl, they all ended up getting up within a minute of sitting down. One even ran off crying.

The girl and her friends at the steps watched this happen. It was strange to see something like this going on. One of them smirked and looked at the whole group and whispered "Anyone of you that sits there and actually gets him to move gets 50 dollars." Most of them shook their head no way but today the girl felt like taking her friend up on the dare. It really couldn't be that hard right, she thought. After all she just had to get him to leave his seat. That could just take sitting down at the same table and not talking to him. After shaking hands with her friend to seal the deal, she walked over to the table that the male was sitting at and sat down across from him, but not facing him.

The boy sat there. As he had before, he kept his eyes on his hands, which were folded on the table, and spoke.

"I didn't invite you to this table. Leave."

He was still as stone, barely even blinking. Something seemed to be on his mind...

The girl was a bit shocked at how rude this guy seemed. She turned and looked at him, thinking of the most annoying thing to say, but something still logical. "These tables are for anyone. No one table belongs to a certain person." She noticed that he seemed to be thinking but she ignored it because she wanted that fifty dollars.

The boy stayed in place, shifting his feet a bit under the table.

"I sat here. I believe that makes it my table. Seeing as I do happen to be sitting at it," he retorted calmly, but sourly. "And I, the one who was seated here first, do not want you here."

His eyes swept the school building as he spoke, studying it intently.

She huffed only a bit at his reply. She then turned back around and said "Well i have been at this school longer and I want to sit here so I will." She was starting to sound a bit childish but still determined to do something.

The boy rolled his eyes, straightening a bit.

"Seniority has nothing to do with it. Though I am a new arrival, I am a senior. And I would appreciate it if you quit running your mouth and let me enjoy my time alone before class starts."

There was...slight hesitation in his words. He wasn't used to being nasty, obviously.

She caught the sound of her friends' giggling and mentally sighed. She knew she would have to last it out at least until the bell rang. She picked up the hesitation and wondered what that was all about. "Well I'm a senior too." She persisted with her childish argument. If she hadn't suddenly felt like it was more than just a dare for 50 bucks anymore than she would have given up and not have used such childish antics.

He heaved a sigh, and then glanced at her friends. Realization suddenly washed over his features, and he relaxed.

"Ah. I see, now. This is about money, I bet," he noted, seeming quite relieved. "I was under the impression you had come to flirt with me..."

With ease, the boy stepped out of his seat, grabbing his bag and slinging it back over his shoulder. "My name is Shadow, by the way...I will see you later..."

With that, the boy simply...walked away and sat somewhere else.

The girl and even her friends all looked stunned for a moment. She was thinking over his words. There wasn't any way that he could have known that, unless he had been the subject of it before. She shook herself to think of it later and put a triumphant smile on her face when she saw her friends come over and sit by her. She put her hand out and the one girl reluctantly gave her a fifty. She just now realized that she didn't get the chance to tell him her name. A mental note about that was made as the bell rang. The group got up from the table and went to class, though the girl found herself wondering about Shadow along the way to class.

Shadow didn't seem to have a problem finding his way around the school. He didn't even have his schedule in front of his face, which was rare for a new student--especially a senior.

For a moment, he thought he was lost, and then he turned the corner and, relieved, made it into his homeroom. Room 612. The teacher in the room looked like one nasty old woman, so he simply approached, flashed her his schedule, and took a seat in the back of the room, as far away from the windows as the room would allow.

the girl was just about to her homeroom when she noticed Shadow walk into room 612. She checked her schedule real quick to confirm that was where she was to go as well. Seeing that it was, she walked in the door just as the bell rang. Knowing that the teacher would be annoyed with her anyway, she took a seat by one of her friends in the class, which happened to be the seat only a couple away from Shadow. The two seats inbetween them were empty yet. Her friend leaned in and whispered something which caused her to only slightly glace at Shadow before she started whispering back to her friend. It wasn't long before the older woman up front slapped a ruler on the desk and demanded silence.

Shadow appeared to be a quiet, obedient student, at first...and then the teacher noticed him staring off into space as she walked around the room, getting everyone's name.

Rapping her ruler on the front of his desk, she glowered at him. "Young man! Pay attention!" she snapped.

Shadow barely even glanced at her. "You aren't even teaching anything. Just walking around the room and gathering names. Shadow Jeifer, by the way. This is pointless. You have a roster already. And if you bang that ruler on my desk again, I will not be pleased."

The woman stared at him, in shock, for a few moments, before grumbling about some rule that said she couldn't strike children and continuing on.
