Somewhere in Japan in a building located in downtown Tokyo.Two people were looking into the mysterious murder cases that had been going for for about a month now."So,L.You really think the killer is in Japan somewhere?"A young woman asked after setting a plate of strawberry cake down infront of L.She had short black hair with light blue highlights running from the roots to the tips,her unsual violet eyes glanced up at the many screens that were on in the room.As she straightened up,she fixed her black tanktop a bit and straightened her fadded,torn blue jeans before taking a seat across from L.Around her neck hung a silver anhk pendant on a silver chain.Her name was Iris Stron,a childhood friend of L's since they were kids living with Watori.Not once had she thought she'd be out traveling around the world with "L" solving murder cases,but then again she thought she would of been able to tell Lawliet her true feelings she's had for him since they were teenagers.She sighed a bit before sipping a bit on a glass of sweetened tea,glancing a bit at L.

The infamous detective sat in his computer chair, as usual his knees were pulled up close to his chest. L's gaze turned away from the computer screen in front of him only as the cake came into view. He had smelled the delicious odor coming and already set up just the files he wanted to view while enjoying the treat. "There is a twenty-three percent chance of it" he replied as his fingers reached out and lifted the small fork. Balancing a bit of the morsel on the metal he brought it to his mouth to relish the taste. Sugar, oh the sweet sensation it did bring.

"Do you want me to get Interpol to have a meeting?They're all on stand by right now."Iris said picking a folder and opening it as she scanned through the papers.This case had a familair flare to it for her,inside she was smiling.If her hunch was right,then someone else had a shinigami following them around.She glanced back at her friend,a tall,lanky woman with jet black feathered wings and a royal purple,tathered dress,with long black hair that covered half of her face while the other half resembled a face of an angel.Instead of fingers,she had long jagged claws with multiple bejeweled golded bracelets on both wrists.Her feet were as black as coals and had jagged claws for toes.When she smiled,a mouth full of razor sharp teeth glinted in the sunlight."It's rare for two shinigami to be in the human world at once."She chuckled in a soft,chilling whisper as she folded her arms lightly as she watched over L's shoulders with a chuckled."It's a shame he can't see me,I would love to see if he would even be shocked to see me."She said floating over to Iris,who just smirked as she read over a file.'Trust me,Luna,he wouldn't be shocked at all.More curious than anything.'She thought with a soft smile as she looked up at him before looking at one of the files he was looking at on the computer screen.

((Now here's a challenge for me XD It's been awhile since I've seen the series, I don't remember exactly how everything went, so pardon me as I make things up, okay?))

L was viewing several criminal files, all of the people who had been murdered thus far. The images and words flickered across the screen constantly as he watched them, a steady flow of cake moving to his mouth in the meantime. "Tell them to set up a live broadcast, dividing it up between Japans separate sectors, moving from one to the other with hour intervals between-and begin here" he pointed to a map of Japan, specifically one section of it. "Find a man on death row who's name begins with L to host the live broadcast. I will deliver his script shortly."

"On it."Iris said pulling out her laptop and started typing away through the criminal records while grabbing her cell phone and calling Watori to inform him that he was needed at interpol.After getting off the phone with him she called the head of interpol and told him to gather everone together for an announcment."I found one."She said after hanging up the phone."Lind L. Tailor.His sentence is today at 4 pm.I'll contact the warden and let him know we need Lind before his sentence is carried out."She then opened her phone and called the warden of the prison,Lind was held in.Once the deal was made,she then called up several News Stations,telling them of the broadcast and when to play it.

(Thats why I started reading my manga books again,lol.)

L finished his cake and began typing on the computer in front of him. In moments he had an entire little speech written out and then he sent it to Iris' computer. He glanced at her briefly, his tired yet intelligent gaze watching her. "Did you know that by the age of seven, sixty-five percent of children report that they have had an imaginary companion at some point in their lives?" he asked casually. It was a bit of a random comment it seemed, although few things with L ever truly could be considered random. Even so, he would likely relate such things to the chaos theory.

Iris clicked open the speech and nodded before sending it to the t.v station where Lind would be recorded to confront the one the local people have deemed,'Kira'."It's rather interesting,some specialist say that children are able to see spirits,while others try to explain away that the child is in the early stages of madness and try to stop it by giving them unnessassary doses of pills."She smirked looking up at L once she was done sending the script."What about you,have you ever had an imaginary friend?"She asked lightly,she knew she had one that was more than just imaginary.

"Yes, his name was Bobo" L replied simply, "I think having an imaginary friend growing up is more a sign of genius. Perhaps I'll write a new thesis on it, what do you think?" his dark eyes watched her in that wide, unblinking and calculating way they had about them. It was always the hardest expression to read, likely he was just curious though, it wasn't like L would really be analyzing an old time friend-would he?

Iris smiled looking back at him once she had finished."You always did have an unique taste when it came to certain things.I've always asked my imaginary friend for advise,she kinda became my better half when it came to things."She said,refuring to Luna,glancing at her laptop with a thoughtful smile now.The shinigami looked over at her and smiled a bit."Advice and sometimes even favors."Luna chuckled before looking out the window.

L's attention slowly turned back to his computer as he sorted through a few more files. That annoying little question buzzing in his mind-how could someone possibly kill through heart attacks? Was it poison? Someone within the jail system? It all seemed to intelligent to be so simple... "Have you ever asked her to kill?" Lawlett inquired, as though it was the simplest of questions. He kept watch of Iris in the corner of his eye.

"If only it were possible to have my imaginary friend do that."Iris chuckled looking at him."I would of signed up to become an executioner if that was the case.Besides,no one can superficially kill someone without even touching them."She stopped at a thought."Do you think someone could be accessing the police criminal records?"She asked before going back to her laptop to see if her theory of hacking the Japanese mainfram was right."Damn,it's easy as hell to hack through this second grade system."She sighed as she pulled out of the system and plopping back into the chair rubbing her forehead."After we're done here,I'm going to show them what firewalls to use to block hackers."She grumbled before reaching over and grabbing her tea,swaying it a bit to mix the ice and tea around alittle.

L glanced at her once more, "Are you really so sure of that?" he questioned, "people die for strange reasons all the time."

"Why would our murderer waste such time and effort on something that can be so easily traced?" L wondered aloud, "Each of these criminals died after being announced on the news with their profile for all to see. They were open to the public." he observed thoughtfully, his fingers wrapped around his curled up knees as he gazed at the computer, "Which means he wants to eliminate the misguided of our world, and he wants everyone to know it. As soon as people realize that criminals are dying, they'll think twice before robbing a store. This will do for now. The next move shall be our adversary's..."

Iris chuckled."True on that.Maybe this Kira is that same person who causes spontanious combustions."She joked before sipping on her tea and setting it back down before looking over all the criminals who have died."Well,from what I have gathered,Otoharada Kuro was the first to die from this heart attack serial killer."She said looking over at L."He held several people hostage in a preschool."

"I wouldn't rule it out" L replied, though it was impossible to tell if he was serous about that or not. "Otoharada Kuro was the test. Somehow this Kira used him to evaluate his ability to murder." He continued flipped through the files, "What we are missing, is the second test subject. Once could easily be a fluke, two would be much more concrete. However the second could have been a much smaller target... someone more difficult to locate. Pull up everyone who has died of a heart attack between the first and second known murders" he ordered thoughtfully.

"Easy enough."Iris said lightly as she typed away on her laptop."There's a long list of people who've died between those two,even a car accident,instant death on impact."She thought out loud as she curled a finger under her lower lip as she thought something through."It's not possible."She finally muttered under her breath. "If it was someone who had a Deathnote book,then any possible means of death should be looked up."Luna said looking at Iris,who nodded a bit as she closed her eyes thinking deeply now.'This case finally got interesting.'She thought smiling now."Do you think heart attacks are the only means of killing this person has under their command?"She asked looking over at Lawliet.

"Actually death upon impact is fairly possible, at least to the standards that they would hold to judge such a thing" L commented casually, "As for other ways of murder, I see no evidence backing it up, or revoking it" L replied, "however it would be nearly impossible to pinpoint a single death out of the norm without further inquiry. See if you can narrow that list down and I'll go through the rest."

Iris nodded as she started narrowing the death toll to local criminals who have died recently."You know,this it the first case that called out to me like this?"She asked momentarily glancing up at him before putting each death into different categories,from heart attacks to fatal accidents.Marking down each time of death and what day it happened on.Who ever was behind this all,it was starting to be clear to her that they,too,had a deathnote and it worried her.Not for her safety,but for L's.

"It is an unusual case" L replied, "but why does it interest you so specifically?" he seemed no longer busy with his own computer. With all the files in order and only time to wait now, he was more than glad to focus his full attention upon his friend. Whether or not that was a good thing however... well that was up for debate.

Iris smiled."Simple,it seems more supernatural than anything and it seems like there's more than meets the eye here,too."She said after finishing organizing the deaths."There might be more unreported deaths right now,it seems like there's one key factor we're missing right now..."She stopped as her cell rang."It's the warden."She pointed out lightly before answering."Alright.Hold on."She covered the mouth peice."They're ready to broadcast,Lind now."

"Do it now" L replied instantly. His pale fingers worked effortlessly to bring up the network on his laptop, ready to move again only if he had to take over the channel. It all depended on what Kira did upon seeing the broadcast, surely without much further thought the criminal would try to kill the man on the screen. He had done so before, he should be able to do so again.

"You're in the clear to start,sir."Iris said lightly nodding.She then turned and turned on the t.v. so they could watch the results of their little test.She found the channel and kept the volume low,but still audible.

The same time Iris turned the t.v. one a curtain someone simitaniously turned his t.v. on."Interesting."Light said with a smirk as 'L' appeared on the screen,calling him out and demanding him to try and kill him."So thats how you want to play,L?"He chuckled as he pulled out his deathnote while Ruki watched from the bed,munching on a fresh apple."You must not be that smart,L because you're going to die today!"He laughed as he wrote in large letters,Lind L. Tailor."Let's see you get out of this!"He then watched the time on his watch."10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1..."

"No way!"Iris said sitting up more as Lind started flinching before falling over."They..did...it.."She said in disbelief.'Damn it all.They have a deathnote.'She thought tightening her grip on the cushion before blinking."Guess it is supernatural..."She said softly as the announcers proclaimed Lind dead.

L stared at the screen, watching as men took Lind L. Tailor's dead body off the set. He was shocked, L, the world's mastermind was shocked. It took a moment for him to regain himself and swiftly take over the broadcast, sending out a pure white screen with that single letter blaring in black. He switched the microphone on, as well as the voice manipulater. At first, he almost didn't know what to say. "Ah... I had to test this just in case but... I never thought it would actually happen. Kira, it seems you can kill people without having to be there in person. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself." You could practically see the wheels turning in his brain again, "Listen to me, Kira. If you did in fact kill Lind L. Tailor, the man who just died on television, I should tell you that he was an inmate who's execution was scheduled today. It was not me. The police arrested him in secrecy so you would not have heard of him on T.V. or the internet, and so it seems not even you have access to information of our base criminal files. But I assure you, L is real, I do exist." Lawlette took a breath, his eyes narrowing upon the screen before him as his voice raised in a challenge, "Now, try to kill me!" he dared, hesitating briefly, "What's wrong? Hurry up! Do it! what are you waiting for?! Kill me!"

(Sorry if I don't follow through the whole thing word by word,My volume 1 of deathnote got put through the wash by my stupid ex-bf)

Light stared at the screen angerly."So it was all a trick,huh?"He asked out loud before sitting back in his seat."Just you wait L.You'll come out soon enough,and when that happens,I'm going to kill you."Light laughed.

Iris looked at Lawliet with a knowing smile.'He's not going to kill you like that.Let's just hope he didn't make the trade yet.'She thought as she let out a small sigh of relief.She glanced over at Luna,who was laughing hysterically.

"Hahaha,your human world just gets better and better as the days pass."Luna laughed."I'd like to meet the shinigami who's connected to this human."She chuckled with a wide toothy grin.Her grin faded down to a humorous smirk."To bad more shingami couldn't come down,this would make things a hell of a lot more interesting,huh Iris?"She asked looking at her human friend who shot her a quick glare of disapproval.Luna merely shrugged with a slight chuckled."Just a thoguht.
