"Those damn hunters will do anything, won't they.." he muttered under his breath. "C'mon, we better keep moving forward." he stated, starting to head away from the burning forest in the distance. "We already know they've been in the forest, they might be out looking for strays who escaped.. we better be quick."
"Yep. Hunters will do the lowest of the low things if it means ridding the planet of the sups...or capturing them to gain power with." Kana quickly followed him, knowing that moving was the best idea. "Of course they're out looking for strays. That might have been the whole plan was to scare them out of hiding." She started to walk a bit faster, though it was annoying to do so since she was still a bit tired.
" You gonna be able to make it? I can carry you if you're still tired.." he offered. "I'm not gonna leave you behind, hell we might even be the only two sups still left from that forest." Dezik sighed. He knew they were in trouble. Nobody could guess where those hunters would come from, if they would attack them, how many there were..
It's an unknown danger that I'd rather not face right now.. he thought, continuing forward as fast as he could while not losing Kana. |
Kana scrunched up her face a bit in disgust of his suggestion. "I can walk.." She did her best to not look like she was tired or that she couldn't keep up with his pace. "We might be but I doubt it. They couldn't have set it all on fire at once so those not near where they set it first would be able to escape." She then thought for a minute and added "Unless there was enough hunters to surround the forest before they set it on fire, in which case I doubt anyone could get out or if they did than they'd be injured and probably not last long." A frown slowly came upon her face. We should move faster, but if I go too fast I'll get too tired to walk. Though if we move too slow than day will come before we really get anywhere. Curse have limitations.
"Very well." Dezik pressed forward, making sure not to go too fast that she couldn't keep pace. He could tell she was tired, and probably worried that the hunters were gaining on them, which they might very well be. It's been said they had machines to carry them fast distances that never tired out.. If that rumor was true, then they might not make it no matter how far they run..
Kana knew that he was trying to go a pace she was comfortable with, which she was slightly thankful for. Slowly she started to go over her past encounters with hunters to try and figure out what they might be up to. Most often they brought guns, knifes, and nets with them. A few times they had used brainwashed sups against her, but the brainwashing usually back fired and the sup got free. When she had been to a big town, there were what she remembered her human mother calling a car. Humans used some other vechicals to travel with too, but she couldn't quite remember what they were. "Do you think they will come with cars this time? Once the forest burns enough I think they can use the cars."
"Let's hope not then. I'd rather not have to deal with fast-moving hunters. We'd never be able to escape.." Dezik tried to dispel the thought, not really wanting to think about what might happen.
"In any case, we don't know what they're up to. All we can do is hope to get far enough to assume that they're thinking that none of the other sups could have gotten this far." |
Kana shook her head. "You might not be able to escape, but if I could still fly than I could escape from them." Granted I don't fly enough to be able to get far. She thought, unable to deny the fact that she should have been using her wings more. Though, in a way she was denying that she was an angel by not using them often. "True, and since none of their scouts or pals got away, we should be good if we get far enough. It isn't like they have files on every single sup that was in the forest. That would have taken a ridiculous amount of time and probably man power."
He felt that had gotten far enough after a few hours, so he started to slow down to a walking pace, giving her time to rest.
"I think we should be far enough. we can slow down for now." he stated with a half smile. He was still a bit worried about the other sups, and her as well. |
She slowed her pace down as well and mentally frowned. While she was glad that they seemed to be able to slow down, she just didn't want to seem weak and limited. "We can keep up the other pace. Never hurts to be one hundred percent sure." She couldn't help but yawn some.
"Fair enough." Dezik said with a smile, starting to continue at the old pace. "We'll have to find some kind of shelter or tree within a couple of hours anyway." he nodded, motioning for her to continue onward.
'But if at any time you want to rest, just tell me." |
Kana nodded and picked up her pace again, slightly cursing her pride. "Yeah...hopefully there is a tree or something soon. And thanks for leaving the suggestion open." She was slightly starting to wonder why she was being a lot nicer to him. It was probably the fact that she hadn't stayed around anyone for more than an hour in awhile and might actually be enjoying some company.
It only took an hour or so to reach a fairly large tree, standing in the middle of almost nowhere. "That's odd. this tree's just out here.. there's barely any other plants around here and yet.." he looked up at the shaded branches. It appeared to have decent shade cover.. it shouldn't be too bad. "This should do. we can rest here."
Kana examined the tree a bit and then nodded. "Yeah...looks like it has some good branches too." Slowly she climbed up onto a branch and sat down on it. Soon she was laying down on the branch with her wings hanging down.
Dezik let out a short laugh as he watched. "Enjoying yourself?" he asked, looking around to see if there were any hunters around. There seems to be nothing.. that's good.. saves us alot of trouble if they don't show up.. Sadly this tree is way out in the open.. we'll get spotted easily if they come this way, unless we're both in the tree.. Dezik started to climb the tree, but had no luck.
"Bah.. I suck at climbing trees.." |
Kana laughed some. "Of course." She then looked down from the branch to see him trying to climb the tree. "A vampire can't climb a tree?" She laughed more before sitting up and coming down a few branches. She offered him a hand up onto the branch.
Dezik blushed, embarassed. "We vampires aren't tree-going creatures.." he muttered, accepting her help into the tree. "We don't really climb trees.. though some of us can jump fairly high, I'm more of a humanized vampire." He looked down as he said it. "But that's something I'd rather not talk about.."
Kana shrugged some as she helped him up with ease. Clearly she was stronger than she looked. "I see. You could always practice different skills to get good at them." Once she made sure Dezik was securely on the branch, she went back up to the branch that she was laying on before and sat down. "So, if you want to be higher up...I think the branches are close enough to each other now for a beginner to climb." Her voice was just a bit teasing.
Dezik sighed. "You don't have to be so condescending. I already know that I'm pathetic." he muttered, looking away again before looking back with a straight face.
Kana lightly waved her hand. "I'm trying to joke around a bit. I'm sure there's many other things you can do that I can't." Her voice still had that slight hint of teasing in it, though it seemed to hold truth that she was only trying to joke around, mostly to lighten things up a bit. For some reason, it wasn't until now that Kana realized that she had be unusually tense.
"Yeah sure.. anyway.. I'm gonna go to sleep.. goodnight." Dezik said, laying his head down, not really interested in talking to her now. He felt slightly hurt, but not terribly. Mostly he was too tired to really care.
Kana rolled her eyes some. "good morning technically." She then layed back down on the branch and let her wings hang down again. It turned out that she was high enough in the tree that her wings didn't hang below the bottom most branch, didn't even reach it either.
Dezik slept, making no noise. He was never really much of a snorer, but it worked to their advantage. the leaves of the tree should provide them decent cover if the humans happened to pass by, but he had a feeling they were safe now.
But where are we supposed to go..? There's no human settlement that'll take us.. where are we going to find food out here..? his mind thought absently |
Kana didn't fall asleep easily. For awhile she laid there, trying to fall asleep, but being unsuccessful due to not being used to sleeping in day light hours. Also, she was hungry. It was always hard to sleep on an empty stomach. She sighed some before she drifted off the sleep finally.
Dezik woke up in the middle of the day, his mind still on the worries they'd have to go through. He was also incredibly hungry, trying to look for anything to hunt or kill.. But he couldn't step out in the sun anyway..
