"You never tried to defend yourself. If you had, you wouldn't have been nearly killed. But then again, you are stupid. So you probably couldn't defend yourself." Seth said. Damien was really starting to annoy him.
"I don't need to be judged by you. Stupid boy. Fine, I'll leave you if that's the only thing you want from me." He was almost disappointed he wouldn't be talking to him more also because he was the only person worth talking to in years and he wanted Damien gone. "Take care pretty boy." He didn't wait for a reply. He guessed all he would get in return was either more insults, or silence. He walked off, heading towards a gate hidden near a thick group of trees. He knew he could get home that way and as he saw no reason to be out any longer now he thought home would be best.
Seth watched him leave. Then he got up and folloed him without thinking about it. He didn't really want him to leave. But sometimes he spoke without thinking about it, Or meaning it.
He kicked stones as he walked, contemplating about the day and trying to go through what had happened in his mind. He licked his lips and smiled, then took a pocket watch out his pocket. Instead of having the numbers 1 to 12 it was white, but had just under half coloured black. Damien couldn't believe that today looked like it was going to be interesting for a change. He sighed as he turned right to go down an ally that would take him a little closer to home.
He followed him for a while longer before stopping. He figured that he wanted to be alone. So he turned around and headed the other way, towards his home. He was tired. This seemed to be the longest day of his life.
It wasn't until Seth stopped walking that he noticed the missing sound of more footsteps. He didn't turn round but if the slayer had followed him all the way here, then he couldn't ignore that. "Seth...If you ever want to talk, I'll be around." He almost wanted to go over to him, however far it was that he had started walk off to and talk to him, but he didn't want it to seem like he was desperate to talk. It wasn't true, but he didn't want it to seem that way either. He hoped that his voice would be heard.
Seth stopped, hearing the vampire speaking to him. But then he continued walking. He would remember what Damien said, but he more likely wasn't going to see him again. Which was just fine with him. He headed back home and went inside, locking the door behind him.
Damien went home and stretched out on his bed, looking once more at his watch. The black part was almost gone, and he decided there was no point staying up the extra little while before daylight. He wondered if he would see Seth again. He had to stop thinking about him, It really wasn't good for him. Don't be like that you stupid boy...he was just one person. It was much easier to think that then to believe it as he fell asleep.
Seth got some food out of the fridge and ate it. Then he took a quick shower before laying down in his bed. But he couldn't get to sleep. There was something about Damien that was bothering him. And was preventing him from sleeping. But he did eventually get to sleep.
When Damien woke in the...he always found it hard to know what to call it, It obviously wasn't morning, but night didn't sound right either, when he woke he felt much calmer then he had for a while. Screw it, I've lived for decades without knowing a soul. I'll be fine He got up, slipped on his coat and made sure his hair looked like normal and went out again, like he did every night. Instead of walking to his normally part of town, he went the other way. Maybe if he did something a little less usual, he would feel a bit happier tonight.
Seth woke up and got something to eat. Then he got dressed and made sure he had plenty of weapons. Then he headed out in search of vampires.
The night air blew through his hair and he smiled while walking through the streets. He liked how some people look one look at him and turned down an ally. Obviously he stuck out here then. That almost cheered him up more. After a while, he found himself walking down a rather dark street with a large church in the distant. It was beautiful, although he felt repelled to get any closer to it.
Seth walked around for a while, finding no vampires. He walked over the entire town. Then he saw Damien in the distance. He instantly stopped and stared at him.
He stopped when once again he felt that feeling of stillness he had last night, but after looking around and seeing nothing he kept going. He shoved his hands in his pockets and kept his head down, acting like all the other people. He often wondered why they would do this even when the night sky was filled with stars and was amazing to look at. Someone could take away the city around them, and they still wouldn't notice.
Seth continued walking. He went right past Damien without saying a word. He was going to ignore him. No matter what it took.
It wasn't until Damien saw Seth, and then saw him look up notice him and then walk right on by that he realised how much he cared. This was stupid...he turned round and caught up with him. If he was told to go away he would but when you can't even get out of bed in the day, not being able to sleep is that little bit harder. "Hey, If you don't want to talk I'll let you be but umm..." He looked up at the sky and then back at Seth. "I would like to talk, just for a moment. It hasn't happened to me in...a good year or so. Would make a change."
Seth stopped. He was a silent for a moment before sighing. "I guess wr could talk. But only for a little while." He said.
He smiled and shrugged. "Sorry to be such a pain then. I didn't realise you didn't have the time..." He couldn't think of anything to say at first, then decided that as it sounded like this might be the last time they spoke anyway he might as well say whatever he wanted. "Did you think about me last night?"
His heart instantly started pounding and his face started to turn red. "Why would you think that?" he asked, looking at the ground. He didn't want him to see that he was blushing from his question. Which was accurate since he was thinking of him last night.
He smiled and it was almost like Seth's avoidance of the question gave Damien the confidence to keep talking. "I thought about you." He tried to say it like it was the most normal thing in the world, but even he heard the slight sound of nervousness in his voice.
He instantly blushed more. "Why?" he asked.
Damien shrugged, mostly to himself as Seth was looking at the ground. "I was trying to work that out. I came up with a few reasons I suppose but...I'm not sure yet." He realised how strange what he was saying must have sounded and could hardly believe he was actually talking to the other guy about it. "Aren't you freaked out?"
"Why would I be?" he asked. He raised his gaze so that he was looking at him without raising his head. "I have no reason to be freaked out if your the one having problems." he said.
"I suppose, but you appear to be the cause. I think I know how I can work out why though. I'll show you in a minute." He smiled as he said that, but honestly hoped that he could figure it out. Then at least he wouldn't have to wonder why. "So, after you went, you didn't think about me at all?"
"I didn't say that. And how are you supposed to show me if you don't understand the reason." he asked. What Damien was saying was started to confuse him.
