Background: Raphael was born male to a rather ordinary family. When he was five months old, his parents noticed he was female instead. Presumably he’d been changing before that, as he can’t go much more than a week without switching genders, and it wasn’t noticed because of the demands a new baby brings on a family. His parents named his female self Rebecca, and while he was young it was rather easily hidden. As he got older, however, and entered puberty, it became a lot harder. When he was fifteen, his secret was exposed by a rival in school, and his secret was met with equal parts revulsion and fascination. He entered the king’s personal guard as he grew older, where his talent was found to have its uses; it was a near perfect disguise, because even if a person could recognize him as one gender, the idea that he could switch between the two was too alien for them to even consider if they saw him as the other.

Personality: Kind, likes to put distance between herself and people with the mask of a smile, cares for her family, and doesn't easily place her trust in people.
Her story: Miyuki assumed she was born to a rather normal family. Her mother was normal, her brother was normal, and she thought that her father was normal. Her thoughts changed when she researched her family tree, her father's side connected to a cultist group that had minimal information on what their aims were or their drive. She wanted to attend college but at the pleading of her father, she went to work at his corporation. Miyuki had little friends when growing up because of the social status her family held. Because of it, she has also been targeted by assassins.

No no, it's fine. I just want to clear something up. My character is more of a medieval fantasy character than a modern fantasy one, but Miyuki seems slightly more modern fantasy?

Her father is the Duke that owns the land where the old cult used to perform their rituals and there is an unknown tie to how her father is involved with them. She is subjected to attending many parties because it is odd for a girl her age to not have already been married off. One night she was attacked when she was in the garden to get fresh air...then her father hires a bodyguard for his little girl.

Raphael rode up to the duke's palace. A large satchel with his things was tied to the back of his saddle. The king had assigned him to protect the duke's daughter, and it sounded like it would be a long-term assignment. He dismounted as he came up and approached, showing his papers to the guards at the door. They examined them, nodded, and one of them blew a whistle; the head of the duke's guard came and led him inside. As they walked, the guard looked back at Raphael and smiled.

'Raphael. It's been too long.'

'Since the academy, eh, Ron?'

'Can you still do that trick where...?'

Raphael nodded, grinning a little. 'His Majesty finds it useful.'

The guard laughed a little. 'I don't doubt it.' The pair sobered up as he opened the door to the duke's antechamber and stood to attention. 'Sir Raphael is here, my lord.'

Raphael bowed. 'Pleased to make your acquaintance, my lord.'

Miyuki had to stay inside the whole morning because of her father's orders. Her purple orbs looked out into the land and down at the garden, where she would have normally been. Due to the interruption in her daily routine, she remained in her room, every once in a while, leaving for the library. After staring out for so long she stood and decided to go to the library.

Meanwhile, the Duke was recieving the bodyguard. He smiled when Raphael arrived.

"Welcome, to my humble abode. I'd like to thank you for taking this job, unfortunately we have no information that will be useful to you, especially the reason." The Duke cleared his throat and looked over at his foreign wife who was smiling gently. He glanced at one of the maids, "If you would bring my daughter here."

The maid curtsied and left, only to return a few minutes later in a panic, "She's not in her room, my lord!"

He stood up in a fury, "What?!"

Raphael raised a hand to the duke. 'Calm down, my lord. I'm sure she will be easy to find. Where does she like to go?'

The duke took a deep breath and returned to sitting, "If she's disobeying me, she might have wandered into the garden or even into town dressed as commonfolk...or she may be in the library..."

'I'll check in the library, sir,' the guard said, bowing again and leaving. 'Would you mind if I went with?' Raphael requested.

The guard smiled at him, being a good natured fellow and motioned for him to follow and lead him to the large library.

Miyuki was searching for a book, using the sliding ladders and scanned the top shelf for the family history.

"My lady! Lady Miyuki!"

The violet eyed girl looked down and smiled at the guard and at the guest next to him. She climbed down carefully and met the two at the door.

She curtsied and introduced herself, "Hello, it's a pleasure to make your aquaintance, sir. I am Miyuki Wakahisa, the only daughter of the Duke Wisenhouer and Duchess Yoriko Wakahisa."

'Hello, my lady,' Raphael said, bowing gently. 'Your father was looking for you. He wants to see you in his study.'

Miyuki smiled and nodded, "Thank you."

Looking over at the other guard, "It seems like I've caused my father to worry. I'll be there right away. Now, if you two gentlemen will excuse me."

Miyuki rushed past them and into her father's study, "I'm sorry, father."

The duke shook his head, "I'm glad you're all right. Just don't do it again."

"Of course." She whispered. "What is it that you needed?"

"I wanted to introduce you to your bodyguard. He will remain with you until this problem is resolved."

Raphael followed her slowly and heard the last snippets of their conversation. He waited just down the hall, not wanting to disturb them.

"Sir Raphael..." The duke looked to one of the maids, "Have him come in."

He turned her head back to this daughter with a smile, "He has a great reputation. I wanted to make sure that you would be well protected."

"Thank you, father." Miyuki curtsied.

Raphael nodded to the maid as she came out of the room, hearing the duke's request. He stepped up behind her, appearing in the doorway. 'You wanted me, my lord?'

"I just wanted my daughter to formally meet the one who would be guarding her." The duke answered.

Miyuki turned and curtsied once more, "I apologise for putting you through all this trouble."

'It's no trouble,' Raphael said, smiling gently at her. 'It's nice to meet you, my lady.' He gave a slight bow.

"I hope that we'll get along with each other well." Miyuki smiled as she straighted herself and turned her head to her father, "I'm going to go out into the gardens now that Sir Raphael is here!"

She promptly made her way out and down a few corridors to make it into the fresh air.

Raphael bowed to the duke, then followed after Miyuki. She seemed nice; it would probably be fun being here.

Miyuki ran off to stand under the gazebo and kept looking out at the garden, "Sir Raphael, what is it that you enjoy doing?"

Raphael looked at Miyuki. 'Sports, reading, dancing, painting...' He trailed off, remembering that she currently only knew one half of him.

Miyuki smiled, her violet orbs lighting up, "You seem like an interesting person, Raphael."

Raphael smiled gently back. 'I'm glad you think so, my lady,' he said.

She smiled and began walking around the garden to soak in some sun and breath in the fresh air that she had been missing for a few days.

Raphael watched her. 'I take it you didn't enjoy being stuck inside, my lady?'
