Surya glanced over him a moment as he spoke, noting his voracious appetite absently. She’d only seen one person eat like that… so it surprised her a little bit. Still she said nothing of it, simply eating the last few pieces of her meet absently. She walked over to the water basin and began to wash her hands and gloves, answering him while looking over her shoulder at him.

“.. My name is Surya Lune, and I have no real reason for staying at the Inn… just passing through really….” She murmured, tilting her head to the side. One cat like ear twitched absently before she murmured softly “What about you?” She was studying him now, curiosity on her face but not much else. Whether she felt more… only her pet knew and he wasn’t telling.

"Me? I'm Eramthgin Lanrete, though no one really calls me that. Something about it being hard to pronounce or some other nonsense..." He answered airily. So the castle's an inn now? That's a strange fate for a castle...but he didn't really care. If anything, he hoped the inn would be open for a long time on so he could have free food for many years, if the owner doesn't mind him devouring nearly all the meat. And maybe he could somehow leak out the rumor of treasure down in the dungeons...maybe adventurers would start coming again.

"As for why I'm staying here..." He'd been living under the castle nearly all his adult life. It was his den, after all. In a way he even considered himself to be the true owner of the castle, and was merely sharing the space with the other many creatures lurking around in the dungeons. "...I like it here."

He finished the meat and started cleaning himself, wiping the blood and scrap meat off his lap with his hands and then licking them clean. He never bothered with water unless he absolutely had to get himself wet. Water was nasty. Even if it was the main ingredient of the majority of drinks. Water and him did not clash well. "Anyway, it's nice meeting you, Surya Lune." He grinned happily at her, even if the female seemed to be a bit weird and maybe a bit too quiet.

Staria 05-08-2010 07:07 AM

I knew a man named Eram once… do you mind me calling you that/” She asked offhandedly, smiling faintly about how he said it was hard to pronounce. Honestly she had to admit it was in a way… but she’d lived with an elf once so had heard much harder. She could manage his name if he requested it but she really preferred shorter names herself…

She watched his hungry treatment of the blood absently, not betraying her inner thoughts. He reminded her… of some unpleasant memories. Stilll his happy grin pulled a similar smile to her own lips, rather enjoying his friendly manner though she wasn’t so sure about trusting him…. Then again there were few she did trust… and most of them were animals…

“It is a pleasure” She answered his remark, bowing slightly in a habitual type way. She then walked to perch on the end of a table while putting a few more crackers in her bag. She heard the rat in her bag shuffle around to retrieve them with a happy but quiet squeak. She smiled faintly to herself, almost lovingly as she much enjoyed her rat…

Antagonist 05-08-2010 07:15 AM

"Sure, I'll just call you Surya then, since it doesn't seem to be the custom of most creatures here to call each other by the full name." Or maybe it was just a strange habit of his, to use full names with people. But since the girl, Surya, seemed to prefer shorter names, he might as well return the favor.

He watched her place a few crackers into a bag she was carrying. There seemed to be something scuttling inside. "What's in the bag?" He asked curiously as he finished the last of his cleaning and hopping off the counter.

Staria 05-08-2010 07:20 AM

“Thank you Eram” she said quietly, smiling faintly. Using a nickname… It kinda made her feel like a friend. Of course caution and something else kept her from making friends most of the time but that didn’t mean she couldn’t enjoy the feeling now and then… even if most of the time it was rather false. She didn’t mind when people called her by her full name but it just seemed…awkward to her somehow.

As he asked of her rat she blushed almost and giggled a little. “Well… that’d be jade…among other things.” She glanced to the bag. “He is a useful, sweet little pet… I love him dearly…” with that admission she laughed, knowing not many would think of a rat like she thought of him…

Antagonist 05-08-2010 07:27 AM

((I've actually had two laboratory white rats as pets back in elementary, they were sooooo cute! One was named Lisa and the other Touchy. I was really sad when they died...:())

"Jade?" He blinked. Seemed to be the name of a pet of some sort. He could think of many little creatures that would fit into her bag, but most of them were carnivorous and eat meat, not crackers. They also usually resembled bite-sized snacks to him, though since he was full now the thought of food didn't particularly strike out at him yet. "What is he?"

Staria 05-08-2010 07:35 AM

((hehe I had a white rat once, He died of a lung disease but he was the cutest sweetest thing. I have another rat now <3 she’s brown and white though. It’s funny to me that rat’s have this really bad rep as being bitey/mean but I have yet to even run into a domesticated one that bites XD. Just sweet ones that lick and love being petted lol))

Surya nodded gently, biting her lip in uncertainty. She was a cat with a rat pet…in a kitchen… not something that usually garnered positive reactions. Still she reached into her bag and pulled out the rat, who sat on her palm, his cracker held in his tiny paws. He glanced at Eram, briefly studying him up and down. He smelled like a predator to the small being but he knew his mistress would protect him well….She always did.

Antagonist 05-08-2010 07:54 AM

((My pets never bite me after a while o.o When I first meet them, they'd try to chomp on me, but after a while they just stop...I could even put the tip of my finger inside Touchy's mouth and he wouldn't bite XD I can't wait to get myself a snake someday, my ultimate dream pet...*sighs dreamily*))

Eramthgin's eyes lit up at the sight of the furry little creature holding a cracker. His mind screamed 'FOOD!' at him, but he shoved the thought away. Eating the thing would probably not be the best course of action to take, if the protectiveness Surya was showing was saying anything. "He looks well-kept," he said, also studying the little critter while Jade looked him down. "It's not often I see anyone with a pet rat, and with green eyes too."

He used to have a pet, or more like spare food in case he ran out of adventurers, that he had caught while staying in his den below once, but the thing (he can't for the life of himself remember just what it had been...it was quite a while ago) had escaped and he hadn't seen it since. It was probably dead too, the creature hadn't been one of the toughest beings in the dungeons. The memory gave him a tug of nostalgia. Maybe he ought to get himself a new pet someday.

Staria 05-08-2010 07:58 AM

((hehe snakes are interesting but so many require feeding them other living things T.T I prefer herbivores or something you can feed kibble myself XD. ))

Surya nodded lightly to the first, slowly putting him back in her bag before a cook or housekeeper could see him. She smiled gently a moment before looking back to Eram. She tilted her head to the side a moment only to nod. “Yes… I’ve never seen any other green eyed rat. I’m not sure where he’s from either…. He was a gift from a friend…” She trailed off, looking almost sad a moment before shaking it off. She then studdied him in thought, not so sure about how his eyes lit up. “Do you have a pet?” She asked curiously, sounding friendly enough…

Antagonist 05-08-2010 08:08 AM

((Yeah, feeding them live stuff is a pain, I'm wondering if it's possible to get myself an egg-snake...All I'd have to do is buy myself eggs and I'd be able to keep it live and happy > w >;;))

"Well...I used to have one." He tilted his head to the side, slightly embarrassed, "I can't remember what it was though, it had been a long time ago and it was only with me for the briefest of times before it ran away." Slightly wistful, he continued, "I didn't think I was that bad of an owner...I never starved it or hurt it..." Though the creature had been pretty terrified of him, despite his actions.

"I seem to scare people, whether intentional or not."

Staria 05-08-2010 08:18 AM

((good luck hehe))

Surya watched him for a moment, silent and digesting his words. She was a distrustful person…. But he seemed genuine enough… Slowly she nodded, glancing at the roof. “You should get another then…animals…they really only seem to demand a little affection and food…you just have to find the right one for you…” Trailing off she shrugged, looking back to Eram with that same curious, thoughtful expression as earlier…

Antagonist 05-08-2010 08:27 AM

((Thanks! http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/m.../icon_whee.gif))

He was looking down with a thoughtful expression. "Hm, yeah, you're probably right. I'll have to make sure to find one later and see..." His thoughts trailed off to the dungeons, where he should be able to find a creature around somewhere without too much trouble. The hard part was getting them to let him own them as a pet. Some of those creatures were quite arrogant and prideful, so it might take some persuasion...he didn't want them running away from him again.

Looking up, he blinked at Surya's gaze. "What?"

Staria 05-08-2010 08:30 AM

Surya shrugged gently as he asked her his question, glancing at the floor in thought. “Perhaps it would be best…. To find an animal that needs you. IN the forest you find animals in trouble often…but it is just a suggestion…now if you will excuse me” She cursied slightly in an almost playfully fashion before walking to the other side of the room where the tea things were kept. She began making a pot, singing to herself under her breath.

Antagonist 05-08-2010 08:38 AM

He blinked. He hadn't thought of it that way. The creatures in the dungeons were mostly of the meanest kinds, depending only on themselves and never on others. That does explain why they would reject him then...interesting.

He propped himself onto the counter again to think about it. He wanted a pet. But Surya said he'd have to get out into the forest to find a suitable one. Going out into the forest meant he'd have to make a trip. And he hated going on trips because it takes time and he didn't want to move. 'Well, that's a dilemma.' He thought. But he really ought to make the effort of trying to get a pet again...the rat looked so comfortable with the cat-woman, and he could tell the feeling was mutual. He liked the picture...the picture of two creatures depending on each other, as companions. He'd never really had a companion before, only acquaintances that he met every once in a while before they went on their separate ways again.

The sound of clinking china brought him back to the kitchen. "Hey, you happen to know where they have drinks? The kind that makes you dizzy if you drink too much of it?" Seeing her preparing drinks, Eramthgin thought that he should probably get something to drink too. Inns should have drinks, right? But he wasn't sure what kind. There were so many names for that drink, it confused him. Why the creatures who had created them had to give them so many different kinds of names when they all essentially meant the same thing was beyond him.

Staria 05-08-2010 08:45 AM

Surya nodded slowly, pointing towards the liquor cabinet and watching him a moment. “Be careful…” Was all she said before returning to her own work. She soon had a pot of the pleasant smelling tea and poured herself a cup. She would take the cup out to the porch. Sitting there in thought and sipping it gently. She was thinking now… partially of memories, partially of the future… she was uncertain….. Was she really right to give such advice all things considered? She wasn’t so sure…

Antagonist 05-08-2010 08:49 AM

Happily, he went over to the cabinet and opened it, and for a moment looked in awe at the glistening glass bottles of wine inside. This was better than he had expected, most of the drinks he had were the the diluted kind that came in mugs. These were the ones that you had to drink with a glass. He licked his lips happily and grabbed a bottle, popping the cork with a clawed finger and taking a swig. Ahhh...sweet, good wine. He was starting to like the owner of the inn more and more, whoever it was, he or she sure knew how to make their inhabitants happy.

Antagonist 05-10-2010 06:18 AM

((*nudges* Has this been forgotten already? D:))

Staria 05-10-2010 06:24 AM

((forgoten no xD just didnt' know what to put since my char's sitting out on a porch >.>))

Antagonist 05-10-2010 06:26 AM

((Hmm...maybe a small time skip, and we're both out the kitchen/porch and wandering around somewhere else? :P))

Staria 05-10-2010 06:27 AM

((heh if you want to do a time skip feel free ^.^, sounds good to me ))

Antagonist 05-10-2010 06:34 AM

((Ok then, I'm too bored for my own good...XD;;))

Some time later, Eramthgin was out in the halls wandering around. He figured that if he ran into anyone, he could just tell them he was another guest...or if he ran into the owner, he'd just tell them he came in through one of the underground tunnels. Which was technically true, except that had probably been several centuries ago.

He was holding a bottle of wine in a hand with the cork popped out, taking a sip every few seconds, while a small bag was slung over his back, carrying more bottles he took from the wine cabinet. He planned on taking them back to his little den afterwards, so that he wouldn't have to come up all the way to the top for a drink.

The new owner seemed to have made quite a few changes to the castle here and there. Most of them were changed into guest rooms, locked, so he couldn't go inside to see unless he broke the door down. Which probably wasn't a good idea, as he didn't want to antagonize the owner yet. Walking down the empty corridor lined with rooms, he thought he maybe should have asked Surya for some directions. He was pretty sure he saw that same painting hanging on the wall above the small desk with a flower pot on it ten minutes ago.

Staria 05-10-2010 06:46 AM

((lol nice :P . XD ))

Surya Lune had been walking to her room when she spotted the man from earlier, eyeing the wine bottles he was carrying. He looked like an alcoholic… Shaking her head she sighed, coughing slightly to get his attention. She didn’t trust him… then again that was pretty normal. Right now, however, her cat like eyes were narrowed on him, her face passive as ever. The part feline woman was uncertain… but wouldn’t do anything. This was not her Inn, it was not her responsibility to manage it… besides perhaps he had gotten permission though she doubted it.

Antagonist 05-10-2010 06:53 AM

His eyes darted over to where the female was standing at the sound of her cough, hand frozen in mid-swing to bring the bottle up to his lips. Then his face abruptly split into a wide grin.

"Oh hey! Fancy seeing you again!" He called out cheerfully, waving the hand holding the bottle, as the other one was occupied by the sack of bottles which would be too cumbersome to wave with. "What're you doing here?"

Kry 05-10-2010 08:33 AM

Really, it wasn't on his to do list. But Loki did require rest and food. He had to keep up his strength and after all of that magic draining energy he had been subject to weeks ago, he was surprised to find that he had the strength to move, and even still the strength to stay up.. He had hunted. Once. A small deer, easy to bring down but it had not sated the hunger deep within him nor had it done much to restore his lost energy. For the moment he padded on four feet, the form a large vicious looking wolf, though Loki didn't feel very vicious at the moment. Once the Inn had come into view of those crimson eyes he shifted. The shift was seamless and easy. Both forms natural to him. Neither form requiring much energy to shift between as they were two halves of the whole.

Black wolf ears twitched atop his head and that tail hung limp, tiredly behind him. The only sign of his mood. Without hesitation that wolf demon shoved the doors open and slipped inside. Glancing to the Kobold at what was obviously the check in desk, he licked his lips and slipped past. Even now. Kobold looked delicious to him. A creature he would usually avoid eating, they tasted foul..A shiver ran down his spine and Loki inhaled deeply. Following the scents that would lead him to the kitchens. Food could be gotten there. Perhaps not Elven hearts, but still, if he ingested enough meat his strength would return properly.

Lindylu 05-10-2010 04:19 PM

Keitaro rolled out of his bed after sometime and headed out into the hallway. Locking the door behind him and tucking the key into his pocket with a small smile.
He had rested enough and it was time to take a look around this place. His ears facing forwards he headed down the stairs, large hands gripping the rail carefully.

"When you walk...through a storm " Keitaro sang softly under his breath, "Hold your head....up high..".

He was walking through the lobby now headed off down the hall away from the kitchen still singing quite nicely, voice echoing through the halls.
