Surya didn’t answer the question verbally, simply pointing towards her room door with her key in her other hand. She watched him a moment but then said quietly “what about you?’ As always her expression was unreadable, serene. She said nothing more, waiting to see. She was studying him, curious if he was drunk or simply cheerful. She could never be sure at first…
She paused a moment, however, sniffing the air. There was a scent…vaguely familiar yet different too. It reminded her of someone who should have been close…but wasn’t. She shivered, shaking off the thought and glancing back to the man before her. She would investigate the scent later…. As Keitaro’s singing drifted through the air one of her ears twitched curiously, half smiling to herself. He had a pleasant voice…and being a lover of music she couldn’t help but enjoy a nice voice though her eyes did not waver from Eram. She watched him, curious how he’d answer. |
Loki knew others were about. He could pick up the scents from the hallway. And some sounds. Like soft singing or something. He shook his head and rolled those crimson eyes. His pace quickened. Each step of those long legs taking him closer and closer to the kitchens. Fresh, raw meat. He desired it, but the meal he craved he knew he would not get here. Perhaps, they had some goldenglow brew though. If he were lucky he might find some of that. It could help restore his magical energy quicker..but his body needed the meat. His lips were parted slightly, his teeth pointed and sharp could almost be seen. He licked his lips a few times. So hungry.
|
Despite being an alcoholic, Eramthgin could hold his drinks down very well. It probably had something to do with his...size..., but he had only ever gotten truly drunk once. That was after he raided a castle somewhere and drank their entire supply of mead. Won't be repeating that experience, he shuddered, that had been a mess. |
Surya nodded gently as he said big place, which she had to admit was an understatement. She’d went and explored and got lost in the secret passages once… only her nose and cat like sight had allowed her to find her way out. She still couldn’t help but wonder…why he’d answered so vaguely… Oh don’t be paranoid she chided herself….not that it genuinely stopped her from worrying…
As he commented on the key she nodded, holding up the blue and silver key that matched one of the doorknobs perfectly…the doorknob to her room. “Yes…my favorite colors…. I had no idea the keys were so matched to the rooms….though I can’t say it was an unpleasant surprise…what does your key look like?” She asked curiously, knowing he was likely staying here or nearby being he was carrying all those bottles on his back… |
His pace had slowed. One hand was on the wall, this place was big, he had hoped to be at the kitchen by now. A low growl of annoyance escaped him, he wasn't sure how much longer he could keep this up..or rather..how much longer he could keep himself up. Where was Lues and Vit when he needed them the most? Oh..right..Vanished..along with his home..Vanished in a puff of curling purple smoke. Purple smoke that had nearly sucked the life out of him and absorbed almost all of his magical energy and physical strength.
Being a demon was probably the only thing that had kept him alive, but the reserves of strength and energy he did have were quickly depleting. He didn't even know what country he was in anymore. The sights and the scents unfamiliar. A new territory..perhaps even a different realm. Loki was panting slightly when his ears picked up voices. He would go towards the voices. Crimson eyes half closed as he moved. He must look so weak. How he hated that. He growled at himself. |
"Ah...my key..." He scratched his head with his now-free hand somewhat awkwardly. "Well..." He fished around in his pocket for it. He hoped she wouldn't recognize it, as it would be a dead giveaway as to which door it belonged to. But it was a bit ridiculous, he thought,...not many even know of the key's existence. Finally his hand hit the small metal object and he dug it out. |
His pace slowed even more as he drew ever closer to those two. Those wolf ears barely twitching, but pricked up and forward. As if straining to stay alert. His right hand pressed against the wall, trying to keep himself up. It was hard to keep moving, hard to concentrate. The scent of alcohol caused his nose to wrinkle in disgust and the other scent, seemed rather feline. That just caused his nose to wrinkled and twitch a bit, as if filing the scents away.
A few more steps and the two people he had heard and scented were in view. Loki stopped now. Turning so his back was pressed against the wall and he leaned heavily against it. Those ears drooping a bit now as he panted heavily, those eyes remained only half open. Loki didn't say anything. He wasn't even sure he had the strength to make his voice heard. He just leaned there and hoped he didn't fall over. |
Surya raised her eyebrow curiously, something about his behavior making her suspicious. Still… it seemed the typical ornate key of this place… if older and larger… His behavior, however, made it clear to her that she’d have to keep an eye out to see where it matched. There was something more to this key then the man presented she had a feeling….
Saying only, ‘It’s pretty…” When she saw what direction he looked. She glanced towards it curiously, sniffing the air absently. It was the one who smelled of wolf… she thought absently. Watching him a moment she crossed her arms behind her back, eyeing the man who now came within sight thoughtfully.. He seemed exhausted… “You need help?” She asked quietly, though inwardly she was not so sure. She knew he reminded her of the most predatory of wolves…well… something like a wolf anyway. She pushed away the memory, biting her lip. If he shared her wild hunger… lord help this Inn… |
Those lips parted but nothing more than a hoarse, pathetic squeak escaped his throat. Causing the exhausted wolf to scowl and almost growl at himself, he shook his head slightly and forced his eyes open more than just halfway. That head turned slightly to look at the two. "....meat.." A soft whisper as he pushed himself away from the wall. "Raw...bloody..I need it." He took a step towards them. "Goldenglow brew..." Another step and he stumbled, falling. To him it seemed an eternity before he hit the floor, as if he had been falling in slow motion, though he knew it had only been seconds. "....Please."
Loki was a proud demon and a proud wolf, but he also knew when help was needed, it was best to be polite about it. Not refuse it. No..that had been a lesson well learned. A lone wolf without a pack, a lone demon without a clan..what could he do but ask for help? Such a thing did not make him any less the vicious predator or prideful being he was. Loki knew his limits and they had been reached. |
Surya watched him fall for a second in uncertainty before glancing towards Eram. She gave him an apologetic smile then turned, walking towards the wolf. She was not a physically strong woman though intensely fast when she wanted to be so she crouched next to him. “I will… get you what I can…” She murmured quietly before turning and walking quickly to the kitchen. She would retrieve the raw meat and the drink, sitting them in front of him when she returned. She felt great suspicion over his choices right now but she said nothing, simply appearing helpful and thoughtful.

Goldenglow brew was a drink that smelled of honey, magic and poison. As it was nothing but honey, liquid magic and a few drops of some highly potent poison. A normal human couldn't survive a taste of it and even some magical creatures couldn't survive a drop of it. Loki didn't want the sweet tasting drink, but his body needed it. It needed that amalgamation of sweet and magic..with that kick of poison to boost the enzymes in his body instead of shutting them down. It was the scent of that brew that roused him a bit more.
Loki wriggled and squirmed a bit until he had himself propped up against the wall, the brew was the first thing he reached for and he had downed goblet in mere moments. That nose wrinkled in disgust and he stuck his tongue out for a moment. "Blech." Though almost instantly he seemed slightly more alert. Slightly more energized, he held that cup out for the girl to take. "More..Quickly....please." Now he reached for the meat. Gods. He was going to need a lot of meat. That raw meat was devoured and gone in moments. All the blood from it licked up from wherever it may have dropped. "..Gods...I'm starving." He mumbled to no one in particular. Glancing up to that man that had sat on the table. A shiver ran down Loki's spine. |
Surya glanced at the man, noticing how Eram seemed so unconcerned. It was not a point in his favor…but at the same time she understood why. Loki smelled clearly like a wolfen predator…something to be feared… but a life was a life… at least that was how she felt since she was saved and taught by a being who felt that way…
She shook of her memory of the elf who had saved her life and turned to Loki once more. She watched as held out the cup, slowly poring it. She simply watched him, aware of how he’d eaten. Yes… he was much like her the one whom Surya Lune pretended not to remember. Oh well…perhaps he too would have another side… a side who should live. “There’s more in the kitchen…..thankfully the owner keeps enough to feed four of his dragons in there…” She said quietly, only half joking. Honestly the knight mainly kept the goldenglow brew in there for the sake of the dragon as well… always wanting to make sure…just in case the dragon could not leave for a few days due to the inn being surrounded by those who were not welcome… |
Loki was a demon, he was a wolf but he was not a mindless beast. His hunger could never make him slaughter innocents or something of that sort. Even for need of elvish hearts. He didn't dare ask for elven hearts either. He could tell these people were already wary of him. He was a predator but not a monster. She poured the goldenglow slowly and he squirmed with anticipation. Finally when the goblet was full again it was brought to his lips and drained quickly. Nose wrinkled from the taste and he shook his head slightly.
"I can pay..." He had set that goblet down next to him. Goldenglow was expensive, he knew that. A slight shake of his head and he was staring at the female. "I can pay for the..meal...so please..please bring me as much meat as you can possibly carry." Loki couldn't stand. The goldenglow restored his magical energies and being a demon he was mostly a magical being, the goldenglow was keeping him alive right now. Keeping him from starving to death. "Please...I can't move..much. I need the protein from the meat and the iron from the blood.." He inhaled deeply. His heart was pounding. The poison in the brew was doing it's job, he could feel it racing through his body. He could no longer feel his legs and that was good. Loki relaxed against that wall and sighed softly. Just a bit more meat and resting. He'd be fine soon. Unless that girl refused to bring him more. |
Surya tilted her head slowly to the side, watching him a moment as he spoke of paying… “I imagine the knight will be happy if you just pay the room fee…” turning she slowly stood, walking away. She would return with a large mixing bowl in her hands, filled with as much meat as could balance. She was not sure about helping him but despite her icy exterior she was ultimately a kind person.
Sitting it next to him she stepped back, crossing her arms and watching him silently. Curious why it’s mistress seemed a little concerned a small black mouse with green eyes poked its head out of the bag, looking over Loki with suspicion for a few seconds before ducking back down into t he bag. It would grow quiet then. |
"Goldenglow is expensive...I can pay the full price for what I've consumed. Meat and brew." He watched her walk away, hoping it was to the kitchens she went and hoping she would return with meat. Loki was relieved when she did return, he'd had his doubts really. Though he was glad she was helping him, he looked at her, those crimson eyes were sincere. "Thank you." He took the bowl she had sat next to him and pulled it into his lap.
He began eating the meat right away. Wasting no time in devouring it, though he ate quickly he was careful to not make a mess. It didn't take Loki long to work his way through that raw meat and when there was nothing but blood left in the bowl he began to drink that. Normally Loki was against eating meat this bloody or uncooked unless he was in his wolf form or he was eating a heart. Hearts were meant to be bloody and uncooked. Or, at least elven hearts were. Something to do with the magic that flowed through them. Loki made short work of the blood left in the bowl and when he was done he licked his lips, wrinkled that nose and a look of disgust passed across his features for a moment. He sat that bowl down. "Gods..I must look a beast to you." He frowned slightly and looked up at the girl. "You've helped me more than you could ever know. I'm in your debt...once I can move my legs again." |
Surya tilted her head to the side, watching as he spoke so carefully. His thank you was appreciated and rather unexpected, still she only gave him a small smile in response and a nod. She watched still, that same careful curious way… perhaps it was the cat in her. It didn’t help that the smell of blood got to her being what she was… but none of this showed as she simply leaned casually against the wall…
“I’ve seen worse….” Was her response to the remark of looking like a beast. Inwardly she couldn’t help but think she’d BEEN worse… still she dismissed the gory memories and simply kept her eyes on his…staring in that unflinching way that was her habit. The habit of most house cats for that matter but in a humans delicate face it was far harder to ignore… “And… you don’t owe me… I just fetched and carried… you owe the night more then anything…” She replied casually, shifting in a way that showed she was not use to others being in her debt. It was a strange feeling honestly… |
"Nonesense. You were the one here helping me." He glanced at the brute sitting on the table. That man hadn't lifted a finger. "...You've no idea how close to death I was, nor what had put me so..weak." Loki's toes wriggled a bit inside his boots, slowly the feeling in his legs was coming back. He inhaled deeply. "Honestly..I don't normally eat like that..I just..It was necessary." Loki wasn't making excuses, it was true for the most part. Mainly he didn't want them thinking he was some kind of crazy psycho beasty monster that needed to be killed or chased away with torches and swords.
"Who do I pay? For the food and drink I've consumed." Already he was reaching for the coin purse tied to his belt. He was almost certain there was enough there to cover the price. Lues and Vit had been liberal with giving him spending money and he was always careful not to spend too much. Lues...Loki grit his teeth. "Actually....You haven't by chance seen a fox woman whose fur is as white as snow and golden eyes with a tall light brown skinned man with really pointy ears have you? He's not an elf. His ears are too long and he doesn't have the scent of elf about him. Both usually smell like rain...Rain and roses.." It wasn't a great description of Lues and Vit but it was the best he could do and if this girl had seen them then his description would be accurate enough. "A small silver fox would've been with them probably. She's tiny, no bigger than a cub but old and wise." Loki knew it was a wild stab in the dark. From what had happened, he could almost guarantee that Lues, Vit and the others were in some different realm. Had Luke even survived? He was human and humans were fragile. Loki's mind was drifting and a look of sadness, concern and fear had found it's way into his eyes. |
Surya simply shrugged at the remarks, not sure what to say. She was not use to affection of any kind really…partially due to her own choices so someone not letting her pass herself off was…unusual. She said nothing as he spoke of why he ate like that and how it wasn’t usual, shrugging again. She didn’t care too much …knowing her own need of raw meat made her speaking of other’s habits rather…hypocritical…
She only spoke as he asked the question, pointing towards the front desk. “I’d guess Squeegy at the front desk… He’s a kobold….doesn’t really talk but seems to run things here actually and rather well at that…” She had to admit she’d been rather surprised…. Kobolds were not known for their intelligence or attention to detail for a reason but the sharp eyed Squeegy seemed more intelligent then some elves she’d met…She wouldn’t be surprised if he was as smart as anybody else in this inn… She then turned back to Loki, tilting her head to the side. “I’m afraid not…. I’m fairly sure I’d remember such a group…Though I only got here recently anyway….” She trailed off, still watching him in thought. She did love the smell of rain so would definitely have noted if she’d smelled it in here |
Eramthgin grinned slightly when the predator looked at him, but nearly gave himself whiplash when Surya mentioned the Goldenglow was for the dragons at the inn. Dragons? Four?? He never sensed them! Where were they? Dragons were known for their territorial dominance, how did the owner manage to get four dragons to live peacefully together? He knew there were a few wyverns in the dungeons, but there was definitely only one dragon down there. And it was definitely not one of the four Surya mentioned. |
((Gonna have to drop out sorry staria D: ))
|
Those ears snapped up and forward and his head turned to that man. Those crimson eyes looking him over, as if searching the man's soul. If he had one. There was something odd about that man and Loki couldn't quite put his finger on it. He continued to scrutinize that man for a few moments longer before those ears drooped and he sighed softly. "It wasn't who I'm looking for." He'd said the words with finality but not disappointment. It would be hard but he would find them.
Slowly Loki rose to his feet. He stretched and sighed softly, "Let me go have a word with that..kobold..then." He turned and was moving back the way he had came. The coin purse in his hand and when he got to the kobold's desk he dropped the whole thing on it. "I've had two goblets of goldenglow brew and probably a few pounds of raw meat..and...I'd also like a room for however many nights the leftover coins will get me." It wasn't long before Loki returned to where the woman and the man were. A key in his hand. The kobold had insisted he only pay for the room..but Loki had insisted he pay a little something extra to cover expenses. So the coin purse was tied to his belt once more and significantly lighter but not completely empty. He was grateful for that. He eyed that man for a moment. "My name is Loki." |
(awww okay *hugs Lind)
Surya glanced over to the man as he spoke, curious. So he’d smelled roses hmm? She wondered why…but then again there were many flowers in the area…She shrugged it off, glancing downward in thought. This place did seem to attract a variety of people that was for sure… As loki spoke her attention fell to him and she tilted her head to the side, watching him a moment. He really was going to insist on paying for as much as he could…interesting. Still she suspected he wouldn’t pay as much as he intended… Even though Squeegy only communicated via hand signals and grunts, despite his intelligence, the kobold seemed to usually get his way…. She had stood then, and would have started to move away when Loki returned. She paused, turning bac towards him. He was a friendly thing…not what she’d first expected. Distrusting as she was her guard would remain up, but she did give him a small smile. “I’m Surya….Surya Lune. “ she murmured with a soft bow of her head. |
