"The Council decided that it was good time to develop the knowledge of human behavioral activities and modern day intelligence." Sophia said, "So, how does a Demon disguise their wings and horns?..and Fangs?"
"Sorry, can't have you know that and run off to tell your little council," said Kiri. "Even we have secrets, you know."
"Well, secrets. Surprising. Well, Ms Kiri. It was an amazing anomoly meeting one of my neighbouring kind but I have other pressing matters to attend to." Sophia sighed and stood up.
Kiri laughed. "Pressing matters? You're off to study humans, aren't you? I would hardly call that pressing. Just look at them." She gestured to the view the window had of three guys getting into a fight on the street.
"Yes, quite. But, do remember that it was your all father that gave them all their capacity for war and violence, hatred. So, studying these humans may not be a pressing matter to you but to the angels of the Realm of Lumini it is the last chances to return the world to the way it was before Zithuri fell from Gabrielle's side. So snort and be scinical all you must, Demon." Sophia muttered before walking over to the trash can slam dunking her trash and picking up someone elses to clean the place up.
Angels. They really, really bothered Kiri. But she didn't want to let Sophia leave. because she'd lied that she was here because she was bored. She was actually trying to find a way into Heaven. So far there were no leads, but if she met an angel... It annoyed her to end to do it, but she got up without clearing away her mug and joined Sophia at the bin. "Yeah, I.. um... I guess you're right. I'm bored, I've got nothing to do, so do you mind if I tag along?"
Kiri hated angels, but if she was to carry out this mission, she needed to befriend this one. |
"Demon, you don't have the pressing matter of making everyone's life a misery?" Sophia asked straightening herself up and smiling. It was realy unusual in any circumstance for an angel and demon to tag along together. So this worried her, but she never showed it and nodded lightly, "Sure. You may."
"Where are you headed?" asked Kiri.
"To the community school. I help out by teaching Strings. Harps being the speciality." Sophia smiled.
"So that's how you study humans? You teach them?" Kiri hated human children, but she knew she'd have to put up with them without complaint. This would not be fun.
"Hello Sally, Johnathan, Rita, Ingrid, David, Rosa. This is Kiri, she's gonna watch and learn for this lesson, okay?" Sophia smiled at all the kids holding different string instruments. She sat at the front with the harp and began to ping the strings. Making a melody was so soothing and it brought Sophia back home.
Kiri hated the sound of a harp playng, and she hated the kids with their squeaky violins and other stringed instruments. But she endured.
"See, some children are pure." Sophia pointed out as a little boy helped up a little girl that had fallen over and helper her get her jacket on. She was pushing the Harp to its designated place and clearing away the chairs from the hall.
"Yeah... I guess," said Kiri. She didn't really want to say what she truly felt, because that would be counter productive.
"So, why tag along, Demon? I thought we were mortal enemies?" Sophia smiled lightly pulling on her jacket.
"I told you I was bored," said Kiri. "And why should we be enemies just because people say we should be? I'm sick of doing what other people want."
"Growl, lil' Ms Demon got a good side?" Sophia smiled as they walked out the door into the cold again.
"I didn't say I had a good side. I only said I didn't want to do what other people expect," said Kiri.
"Well then. Where are you staying? What are you even doing up here? Hell too hot this time of year?" Sophia joked and tightened her scarf.
"I've got an apartment just over there," said Kiri, pointing. "And yes, Hell is a bit hot, actually."
"Apartment, near a church? Well, each to their own I suppose," Sophia shrugged. "I live in a little house near WoodSpring Park. The only downside is that it's so far from Starbucks."
"So where are you headed now?" asked Kiri, hoping it wasn't to teach some more snotty-nosed little human kids how to pluck or scrape some strings.
"Well, I was planning on scoping the mall and studying the Hormonals over there. Shop, blend. You can follow if you wanted." Sophia said striding through the snow.
The mall. That place didn't sound too bad. Kiri liked to shop every now and then... or rather, shoplift. "Sure, I was going to go there today anyway," she said.
"That top would look Heavenly on you." Sophia gestured to a black turtleneck with a white skull on the chest and nodded at Kiri.
