Darrien was staring out the window, still searching to see if whatever it was was still there. In his hand was a small pistol that he had produced instantly from his shorts pocket. He was never without a gun or a knife...always had them stowed away somewhere. "What the fuck was that?!" He looked at Ava, still not lowering his weapon. He very rarely used strong language, which means that that just scared the crap out of him. "Who was that on the phone? Ava, are you being stalked?"
(I can edit out the f word if you want. It just seemed appropriate for the the moment and the character....) |
((Don't worry about it. Its very Appropriate lol))
Ava stood there for a few seconds, replaying what had just happened. It seemed to happen too fast. She shook her head, hearing Darrien. "No idea. But yeah, I am. The same.. thing has been calling me for days from different numbers." She admitted. Looking back at him. She was scared, but was slowly covering it back up. Ava looked to Rae after wards who just seemed too stunned to say anything. |
Darrien growled, lowering his weapon but not putting it away. "Why didn't you tell me, Ava? You know better than that." He was angry he didn't know about it. He hated when anything bad happened to her. It pissed him off, actually. He sighed, calming himself. "Next time, tell me about this sooner, Ava. And obviously it isn't normal stalking either." His voice got quieter. "Ava, that was a demon outside your window, wasn't it?"
"It started out as just hanging up, so I thought it was a wrong number. But just today it started to get worse." She told him, stepping away fro the window finally and towards him. Picking her phone up from the floor. "What else could be there one second, and gone the next.." Ava was not one to jump to conclusions, but this just screamed evidence all over it. She wasn't the only one to see it either. "No one else was on the street below.. I'm going to cancel the meet for tonight. It's too much information without enough support. The only reason you two believe it is because of what just happened. But I would rather that not leave this room." Ava was only thinking out loud now. She knew the others needed to know, but she also wanted to milk something else out from her bosses...
Darrien nodded. "It makes sense to me. But shouldn't warn them at least? What if they get caught by one of them with no knowledge?" He growled again. "This stinks, Ava, it really stinks." He didn't know how else to put it. "And there's no way your staying here tonight. Either room with Rae or me. Am I clear?" He had gone into cop-mode. Usually he never did this to Ava but he was protective and just how he is.
"Thats the other the downside I was just thinking about. That is more important.. After Shane and Blake get back, or at least we receive a call I'll call the meeting. Ava sent out a group text to let everyone know the meeting late. And a separate one to Blake asking him how everything was going. She pretended to ignore Darrien for just a moment, even though he did get very law enforcement on her. "I understand." She told Darrien, looking up at him. "Though I hope you know it has to be you since Drake and Rae already share a room."
Darrien grinned, obviously well aware of it. He shrugs, feigning innocence. "That's fine then. You can have my bed. Everything was just washed, so you shouldn't worry about it smelling like me." He still held the gun in his hand, its feeling comforting right then. He sighs and closes his eyes. "This is so ridiculous."
Ava shook her head as he grinned. This is all part of an evil plan I bet. She thought to herself. "I'll just pack a small bag for the night." Ava said as she headed out of the kitchen and upstairs to her room. "Believe me, I know.." She called down to him while shoving a few things into a bag. She didn't need anything special since she would be back tomorrow morning before her morning run. Still she locked everything up for the night. "I still haven't gotten anything from Blake or Shane, so I guess we have time to kill." She told them both as she headed downstairs and locked everything up.
Darrien nodded. "Yeah, we do. What should we do? I should probably stop at my apartment for a shirt first, though, whatever we do. Unless its shirtless happenings of course." He smiles his charming smile.
"Not in your wildest dreams." Ava told Darrien at his final comment. She had to admit, Darrien was very good looking, and she had thought about trying to get with him on more than one occasion. He was a very nice man, and the two worked very well together. Normally with minimal fighting. And him walking around with no shirt was just win in her mind, though she refused to let herself show it... "I can drop my stuff in your apartment also. While you finally put some clothes on. Rae, I'll see you at the meeting tonight."
Darrien snorted. "Being modest I see." He winked at Rae, obviously joking, though he wondered to himself how much of it was actually a joke. He led the way to his apartment, took out the key and opened the door, letting Ava go first. "Ladies first." He went in after, the apartment being normal, with a small living room, a door leading to his bedroom, a small kitchen and an equally small bathroom. All he needed. He went to his room and to his small dresser, pulling out a navy blue wife beater. He took it into the living and to his kitchen, setting it on his counter while grabbing a glass. "Do you want any water really quick, Ava?"
"Of coarse!" Ava told him as they all left her apartment. Ava locked her door before heading down the hall to Darrien's place. He only lived two doors down from her with Rae and Blake in between. "Thank you Sir." Ava said to him as she headed in. Ava had been inside before, so nothing was really new. A few different items here and there, but that was about it. Ava headed into the kitchen when she heard her name, seeing Darrien holding the shirt, but still not putting it on. "Yeah, that would be great. Thank you, And Thanks for pretty much making me stay here tonight against my will Mr Cop."
Darrien laughed as he put water in the glass and handed it to her. He started to fill his own cup. "Your more than welcome, fearless leader. Anyway, I'd rather you were safe and within earshot then by yourself while be stalked by bloody demons of all things." He leaned against the counter and took a swallow of water. He had turned serious again. "Ava, why are they after you, of all people? Do you have any ideas?"
"No way I'm fearless. I'm still human after all." Ava leaned against his counter. Taking a sip of the water. She thought for a second, then shook her head. "I have no idea. I mean, I always had a strange feeling something is being held from me. I mean it has to be more than me just being the leader of our little group."
Darrien smiled a little. "I suppose your going to ask the higher ups about it then? I think you should in any case. Figure this crap out." He takes a drink of his water. "Since your scared, I could sleep on the floor in the bedroom, as extra protection." He was actually serious about this, not really thinking about what other meanings that sentence might have.
Ava laughed a bit, "I have been for years. They are very careful to what they tell me. Though they are letting more and more slid.. Yes, I'll go to see them tomorrow." She said, knowing most of them wouldn't be there for the night. Ava raised an eyebrow at his statement, then looked at his face. He didn't even see the meaning that sentence could hold. "That can't be very comfortable for you. Besides I get up at five thirty to run, so I wouldn't want to step on you."
Darrien grinned. "I'll be running with you then. I'm used to the night shift, remember? I'll be wide awake anyway. And if I'm not, I give you my permission to wake me any way you can." He smiles and finishes his glass of water. He puts his glass on the counter near the sink. "I'm glad your going to talk to them." He sighed and rubbed his forehead a little. "My head hurts from this stupid demon stuff." Normally, he would hide the fact that he didn't like to take in new information that wasn't already part of his job or some such thing as that. He hated change. But Ava knew him well enough and he didn't mind opening up, even just a little, to her.
"Alright, I will. Hopefully you'll be able to keep up with me." Ava said. She could easily run a mile in under three minutes. Yes, that is possible since to get into the Navy Seals you need to be able to run it in under four, or something crazy like that. Ava was an extremely fit person for her age after all. It was pretty scary at times. She laughed a bit when he said his head hurt. "Take some pain killers Darrien..." She walked a bit closer to him and got behind him, rubbing his neck a bit. That sometimes helped with a headache while relaxing someone. "Does that feel any better?"
He closed his eyes, relaxing just a bit. After a minute, he grabbed her hands and looked at her, making her stop. "Ava, I'll be fine. What about you? This is messed up, we'll be fighting demons and obviously some are stalking you, scaring you. And your supposed to be in charge of our little group. I'm sure that's not helping anything as it is."
Ava stopped right away when he grabbed her hands. She paused for a moment, then smiled. "I'll be just fine. All I need is my team to be at the top of their game. That's all I ask for really. If I get scared, then you all will start to doubting your abilities." She explained. She seemed very calm for what was going on. Almost in a creepy way.
Darrien snorted. "I don't doubt my abilities, dear. Only my ability to actually kill one of these things. Though I do have some ideas." He winks at her then lets go her hands, realizing he had still been holding them. "In any case, you know you can always lean on me and talk me. I won't think your weak or anything." He grins at her. "Anyway, what do you think the members in our group can do? Demon-killing wise of course."
Ava leaned back against the counter, then pulled herself up on top of it. Relaxing herself. Even if Darrien wanted her off, she wasn't going to move, It was very comfortable. "Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. Well, Shane is still in training with me, so he will need time. Rae and Blake work very well together, almost reading each others minds and getting the job done. You have a really great shot. That could prove very useful if we were to get our hands on better guns. Arianna is very well rounded. Throw her into any sitution, and she will probably get it done. Gaia.. Well I think we all know what she is good at. Hell, the girl almost blew up our building on more that one occasion." Ava paused and laughed a bit. "Kiona, there is something very different about that girl. As weird as it is to say, I can almost feel something. She hates to see people harmed, and has never failed a mission. All of us together can do it. I just have to come up with the right pep talk."
Darrien smiled at her, leaning against a counter. "I think that was a pretty good pep talk right there. Just a random question because I'm pretty curious, does Kiona even have any friends? I know that sounds mean but she seems....like you said, different. Never mind. I'm sure we can make her make friends. Maybe? Anyway, aren't we due to go do something or somethin'?"
"I have spoken to Kiona. She is a very nice girl, but just doesn't seem to like to be around too many people at once. Like the commotion in the hall may have made her very uncomfortable, that is why I didn't yell, or do anything I normally would have done." Ava said. It wasn't really mean what Darrien said, but it was at the same time. "I'm sure she will open up, she is still a bit new after all. But I still haven't gotten any word back from Blake or Shane. Any longer and we will have to start without them.."
Darrien chuckled. "I'm not all that opposed to starting without that whelp. Honestly, why was he chosen for this?" He sighs. "Do you want anything else before we have to be off? Food, drink, whatever?"
