It took a few moments to sink in that he was safe. He chewed his lip a little and looked at Angelo a little confused.
"I-I'm not" He panted as he reached up and rubbed his head a little, "I... I Madame... w-would hit me..." He said softly. |
gently Angelo petted his hair. "but madame is not here nor will Madame ever be here. I am here and what I say goes." behind him the shop owner was nodding.
"you just listen to master there he will have you right as rain in no time." picking up one of the hats he set it on Marissa head. "now dont you look sweet." |
Marissa looked down and smiled a bit as he looked up at the man, then he looked back at Angelo for confirmation, "Does...does this hat look good..." He asked quietly.
Slowly trying to get himself back into the right frame of mind. |
"It suits you quite well, put it on the list please." the last was said to the shop keeper. then Angelo turned back to Marissa. "did your master before me hurt you as well as the madame?"

Marissa looked down and bit his lip, "Only... only when I did something wrong... or embarrassing..." He said sadly.
He played with his hands a little and looked away looking a little embarrassed. |
"well that my dear is now come to an end." angelo made sure that Marissa knew that he did not feel bad about what happened to the hat rack and that if shop keeper said that is was ok then it was ok./

Marissa nodded a little and closed his eyes, he nodded and rested his head against Angelo lightly, "o-okay..." He said softly.
He trembled a bit and stepped back a bit and looked around at the hates and chewed his lip, "I-I want some of those... little hats.. " He said softly getting back in to the swing of it, "With the lace accents..." |
"I believe that they would look the best on you." the shop keeper said. coming over he took a few down and had Marissa try them on. "now is there a color that your going to be going with your wardrobe?"

Marissa looked up, "Its not in fashion...and it's expensive... But I've been going with a range of purple from Lavender to maroon..." He said quietly, "I-If it wasn't for Angelo I w-wouldn't do this" He said softly.

"now young miss, dont you worry non. if he says he can do it he can do it." pulling out the base for one of the small hats in black he pulled out the trimmings. "you see this shop here?" he did not wait for a reply before going on. "he paid for this shop for me. said that what ever I wanted he would get me to make my way in the world. but I had to earn my way and not relie on him once I left his house." Angelo smiled at the memory's that brought up.

Marissa looked back at Angelo and then at the Hatter. He smiled happily and nodded, "Master Angelo is truly a rare sort then..." He said softly. He was happy now, that remark had sort of served as a confirmation that he would be alright.

while the hatter had been talking he had been making up a hat, now his fingers finished it. "well what do you think?" he held out the hat for Marissa to try on.

Marissa beamed and nodded, "I've never even seen a custom hat" He said softly as he looked over it, "its lovely!"

"the best hatters can make up a hat that will suite the costumer right then and there." the hatter said looking over at Angelo.
"and you always were quick with your fingers." the hatter snorted. "Master here and now is not the place to speak of such things." |
Marissa stood there eyes darting back and forth between the two, there had been some other message there. But he didn't quite pick up on it.
Shrugging it off he placed the hat atop his head and hurried over to the nearest mirror examining it. |
the hat fit his head perfectly. it was nether to much or to little. "I he not the master of hats." Angelo said as he walked up behind him. "and this is why I bought him this shop."

Marissa nodded happily, "He truly is a master... This is such a lovely hat!" He said cheerfully. He twirled a bit watching his reflection. Then his expression fell a little, "I wish I had a talent like this..." he said softly.

"do not worry Marissa we will find what your talent is and make it grow." setting his hands on Marissa's shoulders Angelo smiled. this is what he lived for, to find and aid those that needed it.

Marissa nodded a bit and smiled softly as he looked in the mirror. He had no idea what his talent was, or even that it was actually starting to show.
This boy had a knack for putting outfits together, he wasn't ever meant to be in any one of those positions alone though. |
"you know you can pick out more then just this hat. in fact I think that he would love it if you picked out more." angelo said looking back at the hatter.
"the shop is open just for you tonight dear lady. look around try them on. there has never been a hat that did not want to be tried on." |
Marissa trembled with delight, "R-really!" He asked cheerfully, "Oh...Oh wow I don't know where to start!" He said chewing on his fingers a little. He looked at the hatter, "I have no idea what I'm getting in regards to style and design though... where clothes are concerned... It's so hard to decide with out that knowledge..."

"well then we will just have to make sure you get something for every type of outfit you could get." and with that the hatter lead Marissa around the shop trying on each hat. when they came to ones that almost worked he would put on or take off some of the trimmings. they spent hours on this, some time during the fun Angelo left for a bit.

Marissa followed the hatter around, occasionally offering his input on the hats. He made the occasional request for more ribbon and less feathers.
"Sometimes I find feathers to be a bit.. Well brutal looking... like the hatter just took the whole bird and set it on there... I don't want to go about with whole birds on my hats" He said with a nod. |
"I have seen the whole bird on a Hat once. it is not a pretty sight." he said taking off the feathers. "I usually dont do feathers but they just became the rage in Paris and all the ladies here are wanting them now."

"I don't really like Parisian fashions..." Marissa said standing up a bit straighter as he tried on a hat, "I don't know it makes the women look so odd and ... inhuman lately. But it's more like ...since they became the fashion capitol of the world... the designers there feel that they can churn out anything they want and call it fashion..."
Marissa said turning in the mirror a bit to see the way the hat sat on his head. "an a lot of the time... it's very recycled... very... slapped together It feels. Like the birds.. It's like some one said...'Oh there aren't enough feathers' so they just gave up and stuck the whole bird on... instead of tastefully arranging them..." Marissa Ranted as he took off the hat and set it down on his pile of things to keep. |
