Marissa nodded a little, "Uh huh" He said softly as he stood there waiting patiently. He watched the little girl, feeling a little bad about her having been woken up.

ringing up the stack of paper he jotted the number down in a book. then he grabbed the stack back up and wrapped it up in plain brown paper. "he said he would meet you at the carriage, want help taking your book out?" the young girl just finished up wrapping the last book.

Marissa nodded a little and took the package, "I can carry half of them my self.." He said softly.
He walked over offering to help out some. |
handing Marissa a smaller stack the boy took the bigger one. there were a few more books then Marissa had picked out in the stack now. leading the way the boy held the door open for Marissa.

Marissa followed him out peering over the stack of books at the carriage. He waited beside it, not really sure what to go about now.
His eyes darted to the footman, "um....what should we do with these?" He asked softly. |
the foot man smiled and opened the trunk on the back of the carriage. "they go in there unless you want them with you." he walked away back to the front. after putting the books into the trunk and making sure that Marissa had to he push Marissa up against the carriage. "its not fair, I should have been the one he took, you dont belong in his house." he whispered hoarsely and he sneered at Marissa. "your just a jump up that thinks your better. I was to go to him, not you."

Marissa blinked and eyed the boy, he winced a little as the other held him against the carriage.
"I...I didn't ASK to be bought or sold" He said defensively, "I would have been fine doing domestic chores!" |
looking him up and down he looked like he was going to toss his cookies. "then go back to your domestic chores and let me have you place." grabbing his dress the boy pulled. the sound of tearing cloth was clear as the ruffle ripped away from the skirt. "your sick, disgusting, unwanted BOY." he grabbed again to rip at his dress.

Marissa stared blankly, lip trembeling, tears in his eyes.
"If you want it THAT badly I would!" He shouted as he shoved the other. Marissa had grown up with a boy his age, he wasn't the kind to just take abuse from some one of his age and Rank. He glared at him, "And clearly I'm more wanted than you are" He spat, "And it's no wonder!" Though he was shouting there were also tears in his eyes, he didn't like fighting. |
stepping up behind the boy, Angelo dropped his hands on the boys shoulders. "attacking my boy is not going to get you his place Tomas, and acting like this is why I never looked at you even for a servant position. he spun the boy around and looked in his eyes. "YOU have a loving home to go to, you have people that want you. GET OUT OF MY FACE!" turning the boy again he swatted him one on the butt, hard. as the shop boy took off back into the shop, Angelo had gathered up Marissa and was holding him tightly to his chest. "I am sorry you had to deal with that, I had not known that his anger had grown so foul." Carrying Marissa into the carriage he sat down on the seat. "why did you come out here?"

Marissa blinked a little and then looked up at Angelo, those tears slowly dissolving back to a smile.
He shook his head, "I thought I'd take some initiative a-and put my books away" He lied a little, the boy hated him already, he didn't want to give him more reason. Even if he had lied to him. "He tore my dress..." Marissa said softly as he looked down at the sleeves and now visible petticoats, "I suppose... its' not a big deal...since I have so many others though.." |
"oh Marissa," he pulled Marissa close to him in a tight hug. "I am so sorry, we will send it back to the shop. there they will fix it right up for you." tapping on the roof he held Marissa. "next time please dont leave the shop I left you in unless I tell you to. there are enough people out here that would love to harm me through you."

Marissa nodded shyly and looked down. He rested his head on Angelo's chest, "I'm sorry...I'll never do it again..." He said softly.

running his hand through Marissa's hair he sighed. "I just worry about you when you go off like that." he did not want to have to deal with Marissa's death at the hands of some of the others that were in town.

Marissa nodded a little, "I'm very sorry Mister Angelo..." He said softly, "I... I was just so eager to get home and...start putting things away is all.."

"well now you now Marissa, and you will not do that again." holding him close Angelo leaned back and rested, as they drove home.

Marissa nodded and closed his eyes, in no time he fell back to sleep, head resting soundly against Angelo's chest. His small hands clinging to his shirt tightly, he truly enjoyed his master's company, though he couldn't pin down why.

"oh my little lark, what are we going to do about you?" running his hands through Marissa hair he sighed and thought back on what he planed to do. did he still want to see his old lover? it had been years since they had last been with each other. and here was a new interest for Angelo, if Marissa would let him. what would Marissa think of the changes he planed for the grotto?

Marissa let out a small little sigh as he slept and cuddled against Angelo a bit, Arms sliding around his shoulders now as he pulled himself up burying his face against his neck.

making sure that nothing woke Marissa as they rode back to the castle Angelo debated weather it could be seen as cheating if they were not together. would it be cheating if he had just gone to the back room then and there with a woman he liked in the main room but who had not once said she loved him? no, and there for this was not going to be cheating, and he needed the companion ship, it had been to long since Caspian.

Marissa clung to him, occasionally breathing hot little sighs on his neck in his sleep. Nuzzling against him and murmuring in the night.
His dreams were fraught with fantastical scenarios, in which Angelo functions as the hero. |
watching him sleep Angelo started singing a song that was lost so long ago. the words were so old that few knew what they meant now. but as he sung a calming presents filled Marissa.

Marissa smiled at the song and let out a happy little noise as he pulled his legs closer, snuggling against Angelo.

"if I did not know better little one I would say you were awake." Angelo said quietly as he picked Marissa up to carry him inside.

Marissa blushed a little and continued to cling to Angelo feigning sleep as he did so.
He didn't want to be put down. He enjoyed this far to much. |
