Shadow, who had been monitoring him, noticed that he seemed lost. After verifying his location, Shadow gave him quiet mental directions. He hoped he wouldn't be angry with him for reading his mind--if he was lost, that was an emergency...to Shadow, anyway.

feeling Shadows nudge he grumbled, if he was not so hungry then he would have just stayed out here longer to make a point that he did not want his mind read. but since he was hungry he had to return to the house. Angelo wondered what there was to eat, seeing as he had not eaten anything all morning and it was coming on noon.

Shadow was roaming absently around his kitchen when Angelo returned. It was obvious the man was...not used to being lonely. It was a surprise, considering his attitude...
"I apologize for reading your mind, but you were lost. Would you like to pick out something for us to eat?" |
"I dont know what you eat, I'll eat anything." Angelo sat down at the small low table that was the dinning area. "you could have stepped out of the house and called me you know." his voice was sounding a bit better.

"I have a wide berth of supplies in the kitchen...I suppose I'll make something using more meat this time..." Shadow was much more fond of vegetables--surprising, considering his nature--but he did need meat in his diet. "And as for the way I called you...I'm more used to alerting people to things in that manner..."

"well could you try to get used to not doing it? that was not an emergence that you needed to go into my mind to tell me where to go." reaching to the center of the table he picked up some of the snack type food that are always set out on it.

"I can try, but I can't make any guarantees. I've been that way since Ro--" Immediately, Shadow cut himself off. "...I've been that way for a long time."
There was an awkward silence for a moment. "How does a steak sound, for our meal?" |
"dont you think that is a bit rich for lunch? " angelo was surprised that he would even think of such a food for lunch

"I have nothing better for lunch besides soup and stew material, and I'm tired of them. I could make myself steak, and make a soup or stew for you, if you'd like. Myself, I could eat steak at any point in the day."
Shadow's voice had a degree of relief in it. Whatever he had almost let slip out earlier...it was obviously something that he absolutely didn't want getting out... |
"oh well, if your going to make your self one weather I want one or not, I want one." Angelo sighed and nibbled on the food. Shadow had almost said something, it seemed like it was important but he could not tell.

"I will get going, then..." For some reason, after he'd almost said that important snippet of information, Shadow seemed...solemn...and he still seemed sort of sad. Upset that he'd even brought it up...
Quietly, Shadow trudged off into the kitchen to get started. |
watching after shadow Angelo woundered what he had almost said that had been so sad for him. finishing up the snack he walked into the kitchen and sat out of the way to watch him cook.

Shadow happily fell into the task of cooking. Mindless...mindless...he loved mindless tasks, especially when he was trying to avoid thinking about something. He wasn't fully distracted, yet--he still looked...sad...

"what is wrong?" Angelo slowly took up some of the other tasks in the cooking process.

Shadow's jaw clenched and unclenched a few times as he cooked. It was obvious this was a sensitive topic for him. "Nothing. Nothing at all."

"ok master." he stopped trying to help and waked out of the room. if Shadow was going to be that way fine, he could keep his secrets, but Angelo was not going to tell him anything more.

Shadow's shoulders were up to his chin. "...I'm sorry," he called, voice a little strained. "It's a very sensitive topic." He sounded sincere, and upset.

going into the garden Angelo ignored what Shadow said. he was not going to live with the two rules if he was going to keep that up.

Grumbling, Shadow finished their lunch and set Angelo's out on the table. "Here. It's done." Shadow set his own plate next to Angelo's, and then paused. "I'll be back in a moment." He scuttled upstairs. It was a sensitive topic for him, but he just had issues speaking about it...if he could show him...it would be better.

walking back in Angelo sighed and sat down. what ever was up with his master he most likey would never know. he took the frist bite of the stake while Shadow was up stars in his room.

Shadow returned a moment later, with what looked like a painting wrapped in a sheet. He said nothing about it as he propped it up against one of the den chairs, and he simply returned to the table, sitting down. He began to eat, silently.

"whats that?" Angelo asked after a while. the way that he had gone to get it before eating meant that it was important but how important was it.

"It is the answer to your question," Shadow replied simply, after a mouthful of food. "It's...sensitive...for me to talk about, and I haven't had to discuss it with anyone for a long time."

"so how is that going to help you talk about it?" Angelo said around a mouthful of food as he pointed at the item.

"You'll see," Shadow murmured, digging into his food with new-found vigor. He was quite hungry. "Once that is shown, I should feel a little more comfortable talking about it."
