Erika smiled. 'All right,' she said. 'There's an ice cream parlour not far from here.'
"If it's alirght, I'll ask you to lead the way since I don't know where it is myself." He gave a simplistic smile, nodding to her. "Shall we then?"
Erika smiled and nodded, leading him down the road. Sure enough, there was the parlour, which looked like it had been made out of the bottom floor of someone's house. Erika went inside, ordered a chocolate ice cream for herself, and looked back at Joe. 'What do you want?'
"I'll get vanilla in my case," He replied with a simple nod. He saw the person handling the order work on their requests as he smiled to her, digging into his pocket. "Wallet, wallet...There it is. Shall I pay?"
'You don't have to,' Erika said, reaching into her pocket as well. 'I can cover this.'
"At least let me pay for myself then," He replied simply. While still fighting his pocket, he did manage to get his wallet out.
'All right,' Erika said, handing over some coins for her own cone. She stepped back to let Joe pay.
Joseph gave a simple smile as he put his own money on the counter for his cone. When he took his ice cream and they were done at the counter, he gave his ice cream a taste. "The ice cream here is great."
Erika smiled. 'Yeah, it does,' she said, licking at her own.
"Is the chocolate good?" He looked at her with a curious gaze, still nibbling at the vanilla he'd gotten.
Erika smiled, opening the door for him. 'Yes, it is. The vanilla?'
"The vanilla is also very good. Hm... I should've taken a spoon so I could ask for a taste. I'm not the strongest fan of chocolate but I do like a taste here or there."
'You can dip your finger in,' Erika said.
"That wouldn't necessarily be a good idea," He replied with a laugh. "Last I checked, that'd end up giving you my germs. I'd rather not do that just to be safe. Thanks though."
Erika smiled. 'Good point. Normally my immune system can handle anything, but I guess I shouldn't risk it with the baby.'
He chuckled. "I wouldn't take the chance either way personally. I'd rather not get you sick period."
'Most of the time I don't get sick,' Erika said. 'Out on the street, you develop a strong immune system.'
"Well, I'm envious of that part. Still, I do try not to take chances either way." He smiled, holding a hand out to help him give a slight bow. "Now then. What would you like to do next?"
'Dunno,' Erika said. 'Your turn to choose.'
"To be honest, I barely know this town. I'm barely here." He laughed a bit, noticing a small book-store down the street. "Oh...A bookstore." He grinned- anything regarding books did seem to catch his attention. "Mind if we stop by there? Unless you'd rather take a break. That's fine too."
Erika grinned. 'It's possible to take a break without turning to books?'
"I don't actually know," He replied with a slight chortle in his voice. "Is it?"
'Some people manage it, but they're weird,' Erika said, grinning as they reached the store.
"Don't see how. They must be pretty strange after all." He chuckled again, holding the door for her before going inside himself. "Anything you wanted to look at in particular?"
'Hm,' Erika said. 'I've been looking for a good fantasy one recently...'
