Joseph went into his tent to read, digging around for a particular book. Finding it, he began to read about it- it was a book about the various professions in the world, and he wanted to learn about engineering for fun.
Sil came back three days later with the engine. She got out of her car and walked to where she saw Joe. 'Joe? I've got that engine.'
Joe was covered in dirt from multiple thing, though mostly two. He'd been reading while on the work-site and constantly fell (for Joe, though, this was a common act of insolence), and two, sometimes he'd get a little to into his work and forget that there was any dirt involved when not reading. Somehow, though, he seemed to be not phased by it and just smiled to her. "Hello again- good to see ya. Thanks for getting that engine so fast."
Erika smiled back at him. 'I can install it now, if you like. Could you help? I might need you to hand me my tools.'
"Sure- I think I can put my books down for a bit." Smiling, he made sure his stuff was neat together before smiling to her. "Just tell me what to do, okay?"
Erika smiled back at him. 'Okay,' she said. She gestured for him to get in the passenger's side of her car as she got in the driver's side and did up her seatbelt.
Joe shrugged simply, getting in as she'd gestured for him to, then put on the seatbelt swiftly. "Alrighty then. I don't quite see how this part's much help for you, though."
'It gets us there faster, with the engine,' Erika said. She started the car and began driving to where the broken car was.
"Oh. Well, that's probably true." He chuckled quietly, sitting still while waiting to get to the broken car like told. "How've you been feeling?"
'Fairly good, overall,' Erika said. 'I've had time to relax lately. I've been able to get pretty far in that book you lent me.'
"Glad to hear you've been well, then. How's the book so far? Getting far and liking it are two different things, after all."
Erika smiled. 'I don't get far in books I don't like,' she replied. 'It's very informative.'
A smile played on Joe's lips at the response. "I'm glad. It really is a good book if you're interested in archaeology. I'm glad you're enjoying it."
Erika smiled. 'I enjoy almost everything, academic,' she said. 'And fiction.'
"Huh. Good to know. Now if I ever need to get you a gift, I know what to get." He chuckled, smiling. "Just kiddin' ya. I'd figure something out if I needed to anyway. And after all you've been doin' for us, even on days you ain't well, I probably will need to."
Erika glanced over at him, and her smile widened a bit. 'Stop it, or I'll really start favouring you.'
"I don't even know what you mean by that, ma'am. I'm just telling the truth." He chuckled, smiling to her simply. "The day you came the first time, you weren't feeling well, right? To be honest, I was rather worried."
'Oh that,' Erika said, shaking her head and smiling. 'That's nothing, don't worry.'
"Sorry, but I don't fully believe that." He laughed nervously. "You seemed like you were really nauseated. Reminded me of when my friend was pregnant due to how sudden it was... Maybe I'm just thinking too much of it though."
Erika blinked a couple of times before smiling. 'I'm not sick, don't worry,' she said.
He sighed in defeat- he wouldn't push it anymore. "If you're sure...Okay I guess..."
Erika flashed him a smile before pulling up outside the garage where the truck was. She parked the car and got out, taking her toolbox out of the back. 'Can you take this in?' she asked Joe.
He nodded. "No problem. Leave it to me." He took the toolbox swiftly, then headed inside as he was supposed to.
'Thanks,' Erika said. She went around to the back and opened the trunk, then lifted a large box, grunting slightly. She walked into the garage, leaving the trunk open behind her, and lowered the box to the ground, letting out a breath as she did and flexing her arms.
"You should still be careful," He noted as he looked at her. "Heavy lifting, no matter how strong you are, is better done cautiously 'cause it can hurt your back, amongst other things."
