Erika smiled at him. 'I've got strength. This isn't a problem for me, don't worry. Now, can you pass me a Phillip's?'
He scrambled to figure out what she meant but quickly remembered, then held it out to her. "Sure."
Erika smiled at him. 'Thanks,' she said, then opened the lid to the trunk. She began removing the engine slowly.
Joseph watched her with curious eyes, waiting at the same time for some sort of signal to do something.
Erika stuck the Philip's in her back pocket and lifted the engine out of the car. She took a few steps back, then put it down by the side and got the new engine out. She began the process of installing it, occasionally asking Joe to hand her a tool.
Joe handed the tools to her as required, then continued to think simultaneously. "This is a really interesting line of work, I think."
'Yeah, it is,' Erika said, grinning at him. She emerged from the trunk, her face and hands covered in soot.
He chuckled, digging in his pocket and holding out a handkerchief. "Here, use this. They say too much soot for too long can really cause damage to the body."
Erika took it and began wiping herself off. 'Thanks,' she said, smiling a bit at him.
He smiled simply, shrugging it off. "No real reason to thank me for it. It's just a kerchief."
'Some people don't bother, you know,' Erika said, lowering the handkerchief. 'All gone?'
He nodded. "Yep. All gone." He held his hand out as a way of saying he'd hold the handkerchief until she needed it again. "How much more is there left to do?"
'I just want to test it to make sure it works,' Erika said, handing him the handkerchief. 'Can you get into the truck and start it up?'
"Sure." He took the handkerchief and stuck it into his pocket, then proceeded to entering and starting up the vehicle. He called out to her with an open door. "How is it?"
'Working like a charm,' Erika said, closing the hood and stepping back.
He turned off the truck upon hearing it and jumped out. "Thanks again for everything."
'You're welcome,' Erika said. She looked down at the old engine and sighed a little.
He looked at her with a slight frown. "Somethin' wrong?"
Erika smiled lightly at him. 'Not envying the thought of having to pick it up again,' she said. She knelt down and lifted it up, then stood.
He held his arms out. "Want me to help? You've done so much already."
'Please,' Erika said, smiling at him. 'Lifting an engine three times gets a bit tiring.'
He smiled a bit more, taking the engine. "Tell me where to put it then?"
'My trunk?' Erika asked. 'I'll get rid of it for you.'
"Oh- sure." He went and put it in as told, asking, "Should I close it or do you have anything else to put in?"
'Just my tool box,' Erika said, coming over and putting it inside next to the old engine. She closed it and smiled at Joe. 'Thanks.'
