Jade shrugged and put on her seat belt. "Um...well, when we got there she went straight for the bathroom and...then she just got upset and stormed out when I told her we were hanging out." said the girl. "Well, we could go to one of our houses and just chill there." she said.

Harvey began to think then began to drive to his house.
"We're going to my house...I hope you don't mind. We'll relax, I'll even make us some smores. I also have to call her and see what's her problem." he said a little angry. They soon arrived at his house and he showed her around. "Mom, dad...this is my new friend Jade. She's new at school." he said. His parents smiled and said hello. Harvey left to the kitchen and called Layla's cell phone as he began to make the smores. He smiled over at Jade as he waited for Layla to answer. |
Layla looked at her phone and sighed, putting it on speaker. "hey." she said calmly, still driving towards the next state.

"Babe, where are you? we really need to talk now. Are you okay? you sound angry..." he said worriedly. She was his first and only girlfriend and didn't want to leave her.

"no everything's fine... just... stuff came up and i'm going out of state for the night...
but i can come back if you really need me to..." she said, chewing on her lip as she said it and looking slightly hopeful, but was unsure if he would tell her to come back or not. |
Jade smiled and waved politely back at them and waited for Harvey. She mouthed the words, "Is she okay" and looked at him.

"Look, I want you to come back, but if you really need some space, then I'll give it to you okay? Listen I just wanted to make sure you're okay I love you and have to go now or else my smores will burn. Love you babe!" he said and hung up then looked at Jade as he took out his smores. They weren't even close to burning yet.
"She's pretty upset but she wouldn't tell me why...she said that she was leaving the state for the night and wanted to know if I wanted her to come back because if I did she would...I told her that I did but if she needed space, I would give it to her. That was the end of THAT conversation." he said and placed the smores on a bowl to cool. |
Layla stopped the car in the middle of the highway ant threw her ohine at the window then made a U turn with a screeching of her tires and drove back quickly, though she wasn't angry with him, or Jade... it was more what her family said and dd earlier that was bothering her, and having only one person who knew about it in the next state over could really helo her with her problems... especially now.
She pulled into Harvey's driveway and got out, walking inside, hiding the black bruise on her arm and walked into the kitchen silently. |
Jade nodded and started eating the s'more then looked over at Layla. "Oh, hey. What's up?" she asked, biting into the s'more.

She shrugged, still having a hand over the bruise and giving a slight smile. "nothing really just wanted to go see a friend out of state for tonight but as i'm needed here..." she said easily an smiled, sitting down next to Jade.

Harvey looked at Layla and sighed mentally.
"Feeling better?" he asked her. He looked over at jade then back at Layla. |
When Harvey looked at Jade, she shrugged a little so Layla couldn't see, then she looked at Layla. "Oh, what friend?" she asked.

Layla nodded once, wondering if she could tell one of the two of the people in the room what was going on, or if they would hate her for it, she instead of hiding she decided to tell them the truth, and if she becomes and outcast... then that's where everything goes. "i have to tell you guys something that you can;t tell anyone else..." she said, looking down at the floor, taking her hand of the huge bruise on her arm.

"Yes Layla, what friend? I didn't know you had a friend outside the state." said Harvey getting a little suspicious but hid it well.

She sighed. "a childhood friend. Kyliegh." she said and rubbed her temples and closed her eyes.

Harvey then noticed the huge bruise on her arm and quickly went to her and looked at it.
"Babe, what's this bruise from?" he asked surprised anyone would hurt her. |
Jade stared at the bruise, it was like a crater on her arm. "Wh-what happened? Did you fall?" she asked. "'Cus I do all the time." she said with a small laugh.

Layla shook her head and took a shaky breath. "I got in a fight with my parents... i was only trying to talk to them... and my mom and dad got angry at me.." she said and held her head in her hands as she cried. "and they hit me..." she said and slowly revealed a series of bruises all over her back and down her arms.

"I'm sorry babe." said Harvey as he hugged her gently.
"Babe...shouldn't you tell the police all this? I know I would." he said and looked at her. He gently removed her hands from her face and wiped off the tears. ((@ Lovebug: Our plan might have to wait till later...)) |
Jade nodded. "Seriously, Lay, you have to call the police about this. If they do take your parents away and you have nobody else to stay with, I can give you a place to stay, you're welcome as long as you like." she said with a reassuring nod. She gently rubbed her back and smiled.

Layla shook her head. "It'll only make them angrier than what they are..." she said and hugged Harvey, burying he face in his chest. |
He looked at her and held her close.
"That doesn't matter, would you rather be safe or live in fear that your parents will beat you at any second?" he asked. "I say that you should just file a report...and if you don't I will because I'm not going to just live with what you just told us in my head and let you suffer." he said and looked at Jade. "Thanks Jade for letting her live with you." he said and smiled at her. |
Jade nodded and smiled at Harvey, then looked at Layla again. "Yeah, what he said. And who cares if they're pissed? They'll be put in jail, and they can be as pissed as they want there!" she said with a small smile, trying to cheer the girl up.

Layla nodded and smiled at Jade and mouthed 'thank you' and sighed, wiping away a few more tears. "fine... but then what happens to my brother...?" she asked them.

Jade nodded and looked at her again. "If you want, he can stay too. We have a fairly large guest room with a bed and I'm sure we could find a pull-out couch or something." she said with a nod. "You'll get through this."
