"...I am not sure of what you humans call your land masses, only what you call your seas. But, possibly," Léan replied, yawning slightly. He poked at one of the fish for a moment, but then left it alone.

She smirked and nodded before leaning back against her seat. "Well, pretty cool." she said before tilting her head. "You could get some sleep. We'll wake you up or something when we get there." she offered, taking out a book from under the seat. She'd do a bit of reading and then maybe take a nap later.

"I am not tired...but I may rest." Léan regarded her and the other humans with puzzlement in his eyes. "It amazes me that you all aren't bombarding me with questions. I have only befriended a human once before in my life, and that did not end well...but he did ask a lot of questions. Too quickly, as well..."

Val glanced back and grinned somewhat, hearing him. "Lyra said not to ask questions. Since she thought it'd make you uncomfortable or something." she said. "I'm amazed though she hasn't asked many questions, she usually goes a question every few seconds."
Lyra chuckled somewhat at that. "Er.. Well I wasn't sure if it'd be alright with you if we asked too many things." she said, shrugging before blinking. "What happened that time?" she asked, meaning the human he'd met. |
"I rescued a human drowning in the Indian Ocean. Took him back to land. He came back several times, bombarded me with questions..." Léan hummed, closing his eyes. "Then, he left one day and never returned." He shrugged.

She tilted her head and frowned. "That wasn't very nice of him.. But, maybe something happened?" she offered. There could've been some sort of problem with his family, or he got attacked, or maybe he really did just decide he didn't want to see the merman anymore.

"I don't know." Léan closed his eyes halfway, looking relaxed. "I never saw him again. In all honesty, at this point, I don't care anymore...it isn't like I can go after him." He swished his tail around to further his point.

"True." Lyra nodded before thinking about something. "Do you have any other siblings?" she asked tilting her head.

"No...just my brother and I," Léan replied softly. "Our mother was killed by humans. Our father...well...he's not really a father to us, so I don't think we could count him as family..."

"Hm, well alright then. Least you got your brother. And sorry about your mom.. When did she die?" she asked, hoping it wasn't too touchy a subject. She did make a mental note to be wary about the subject of his father, since he didn't seem to want to talk about him.

"She died when I was young," Léan murmured, solemnly. "Caught in a human net. Instead of showcasing her, like the ones who captured me, the fisherman killed her." His shoulders were tense as he spoked. Obviously, this was some fuel on the fire of his wariness and dislike for humans.

She frowned somewhat, shaking her head. "Well.. I can't say I'm surprised." she muttered before sighing. "So far, we haven't really made a good impression have we?" she asked. What she meant was about the whole humans. She seriously doubted it'd be able to be changed. His view on humans, but at least in the short time they'd be near him, hopefully it'll make him realize that there's not All bad people.

"Your race as a whole hasn't," Léan murmured. "But, at least you all seem to be kind. It is good to know there are some kind humans in the world." His tone was quiet, half-hearted.

Lyra tilted her head and nodded, "Thanks then." she said, noting his tone. She felt that there still needed a lot to be done before he'd be comfortable with even them. Sadly, she didn't think there'd be enough time for that to change much. She looked at her book, having forgotten about it. She thought of another question as she closed it. "Is your first language English or something else?"

"No...I learned English during my school years, as well as Italian, Spanish, and a few tidbits of some other human languages...my native tongue is Vgepam (Vee-palm). It is the native language of my kind," Léan explained, tailfin flicking back and forth.

"Your school years? And, how does that sound? Vgepam?" she asked, her curiosity getting the best of her.

Léan proceeded to let loose a stream of squeaky, strange-sounding words. He paused after a while. "Like that."

She blinked and tilted her head. It sounded weird, and she was completely lost as to what that might even be. "Oh wow, what did you say?" she asked.

"The fish taste strange in Mexican waters," Léan informed her, amused. "I am assuming you have never heard my native tongue before...understandable. It is easier to understand underwater."

"Aaah." Lyra shook her head. "Yeah, never heard it before." he admitted before tilting her head. "It sounds different in water?" she asked. It's almost like in Harry Potter. she thought. It was impressive, and kind of nice since she was able to hear something that not many people would.

"It sounds more like the songs of whales underwater. And, er...if I were you, I would not duck your head underwater, or fall underwater, while releasing me. I have a tendency to, er...use a power that is not so good for humans...constantly. It's a habit." Léan seemed serious about that.

At that she looked at him slightly confused. "A power?" she asked before nodding, making a mental note to be wary of falling or the like. "Well, I'll make sure not to fall or anything." she promised.

"Good..." Léan sighed, relieved. "I would not...I would not want to cause unnecessary complications." He didn't bother to elaborate on this. Instead, he poked around at one of the fish in the tank. He wasn't hungry, but it was amusing to see it flail slightly when he touched it.

Now I'm going to be thinking about it throughout the plane trip and after. she thought with a small chuckle. Ah well. She leaned her head back against the chair before closing her eyes somewhat. "How old are you? Seventeen? Eighteen? Or, do you just look young?" she asked lightly.

"My body stopped aging at the age of seventeen, in human years. My kind can live for up to three human centuries. All in all...I am...thirty-four human years old," Léan admitted, as if this wasn't a big deal.
