Striating a bit of Fates clothes so they looked right Sam smiled. “so… your face is a mask?” his smile was one of amusement. “I have to say it is funny to be able to say I can see your mask. Most people’s masks can’t be seen like yours. But I think the only reason I can is that I noticed the hook and your robe in your closet.” He gingerly traced the outline of it. “Sorry about forgetting the cufflinks, would you like to borrow some of mine?”

"Ah, so you touched my cloak." Fate chuckled. "Ah..My entire face isn't, this is what I really look like, but..The bit that's hidden isn't so pretty.." He said, pulling off the mask to reveal a short scar on his right cheek seeming to be made with teh same knife that stabbed him in the chest, and a much longer one going from his left cheek all the way up to the bridge of his nose, and his eyes are even more frightening than usual. The mask was still seemingly invisible, but it looked more like a sheet of clear glass in the shape of a simple masquerade mask in his hands. "I..Got a number of scars during that scuffle before my death.And I'll get my own from my room, I need to get my shoes anyway.Thanks for the offer." He smiled, seeming to be contemplating putting his mask back on.

“Yah I had to, I could see it but no see it… and well I just had to. I guessed it was your cloak when it felt like you feel when I touch you.” he reached up and ran his fingers gently along the scars, all the time watching Fates reaction through his eye lashes. There was a light dusting of pink on his cheeks. “I would like it if you don’t wear the mask when we are alone. I would like to fall in love with you as you are not as you look to a mark.” Wrapping his fingers around behind Fates head he kissed the scar on his right cheek. then blushing he turned away to mess around in a small box looking for something that even he may not have known he was looking for. “Ok I will see you in a bit then, when you get your cufflinks and shoes. It will give me some time to think of what to say to my boss.”

"I can not wear it at all If you'd like, but I get weird looks sometimes when I forget it..Or no looks at all. My eyes aren't the prettiest like this, the broken rings around my pupils scare people. Gives sort of a psychotic look to them from a distance..Now you know why my bangs are so long, to try to cover these things.I'll be right back." He said, walking across the hall barefoot into his apartment with his dirty clothes from the previous day in hand.He put the clothes in his laundry hamper and stared at the mask for a moment, which was white with black covering the eyes to him, seeming almost to be made out of porcelain with it's gorgeous texture, and how the black paint looked on it.He hung it up in the closet and grabbed a pair of white dress socks, the box with his cufflinks and a pair of black dress shoes, he sat down on his bed, now which had suddenly turned from an airbed to an average-looking full-size bed and put on his socks and shoes, before opening the little wooden box.

It was an average jewelery box, with velvet inside and 6 pairs of cufflinks tucked into crevices cut out for them inside, he picked out a pair of shiny black metal spades and put them into his cuffs before putting the box back into his closet and heading across the hall again. "Decided to leave my mask off..I'll get weird looks but whatever, I get sick of it sometimes. You're the last person on my list this month anyway, so no need for me to wear it until the last week..You like the cufflinks I chose? They're my favorites..I have a pair of skull ones, more fitting, but these are a bit more professional looking. I'm not a goth." He laughed.

Watching Fate walk out of his room Sam felt like he was waking form a dream. Why was he feeling like this, like if he let Fate out of his eyesight he would disappear like the sea foam on a wave? Sighing he tried to distract himself by going over what he was going to say to his boss but all he could think of was Fates beautiful scared face. How his eyes seemed so weird yet so loving to him. And there was that fear that he would wake and find this all a dream. Reaching out to where fate had been Sam traced his face in the air. How was it he felt this way with a man he barely knew and that had died over a hundred years ago?
As he heard the door to the other room open he let his hand drop and went back to looking in his box. Inside of it was just a jumble of cufflinks rings and necklaces. Finding a pair of cufflinks he put them on, not even noticing they were little clocks. He turned back and sighed at the view of Fate. His eyes going dreamy. “I think that they look good on you, as does everything else on you.”

"Very fitting choice there, love." Fate chuckled, pointing to the cufflinks. "Thanks.." His scarred cheeks flushed lightly. "Shall we go now?We have plenty of time, but still we might want to hurry a bit." He chuckled. "You look gorgeous in that by the way.You look nice in fancy clothes.If only you had been born back then. I'd be all over you..I am now of course..But still, back then it was more romantic, forbidden love and all that."

Looking down at his cufflinks he smiled. “I had not really realized that I had put these ones on, but yes I guess they are fitting. Yes we should go now.” As if to agree with him his stomach growled. “ thanks,” sam blushed again. “it would have been nice to have been there with you, but then I don’t think we would have been together. I don’t think I could be with you if it was despised by all.”

"You wouldn't love me through anything and everything the world could throw at us?I'm hurt." He said half jokingly, smiling at Sam as he walekd towards the door, gently taking Sam's hand in his."I'm glad you weren't there back then..You might have witnessed my death, maybe even have died at the hands of the same hateful man..I visit his cell in Hell sometimes, just to stare in his eyes.It terrifies him..I was his reaper."

“I don’t think I would have thought to take you as a lover if I had lived back then.” He blushed thinking about what a true lover would do. “I think we would have been close friends but not lovers, did you have lovers when you were truly alive?” Sam shivered a happy little shiver when Fate took his hand. “Well I don’t think I will ever get to scare the one that killed me, because I don’t think I will ever want to.” Leaning his head against Fate Sam smiled as they walked out of the apartment. “and to think I would miss you if I woke up right now and found this had been all a dream when we just met not even a full day ago.”

"I.." Fate's cheeks went deep red. "I never did..I'm a virgin, to be entirely blunt.." His blush calmed down just a bit and he pinched Sam's cheek. "Well, I'm still here, I don't think you're dreaming." He chuckled and kissed Sam's cheek gently where it was pinched. "You'll never wake up to me not being there.I promise you that..If I do have to leave before you wake for whatever reason, I'll leave you a note or call you or something.Anything to reassure you that you won't wake up."

Sam stopped. “wait a minute, you have never had a lover before or after your death?” all other thoughts were driven from his mind at the thought that this man, this beautiful, unique, funny, sweet man had been waiting for him and only him.

"Never..And I've only ever had one boyfriend..That being you." Fate's cheeks went red. "My mum arranged dates with women for me before, when I was alive, but I politely declined to every one..I've never felt like this before..Never felt love. Not love where the other loves me back at least." He gripped Sam's hand, enjoying it's warmth while it lasted, but letting go so it could go back to normal. "It's a bit embarrassing to admit, really.."

Sam smiled and started walking again. “Your mom is not the only one that tried to hook up a person. My mother tried to do that with a woman she knew but I had no interest in her and well she married the fruit stand owner that was a block from her house. Last I knew she was madly in love with him and happy that we had never really hit it off.” Looking back at Fate Sam smiled. “I am glad that you found me, and that I get to know you before I die.”

"And I'm glad that you ended up being mine.." Fate smiled and kissed Sam's cheek. "I'm also glad that you didn't freak out and try to stab me with the kitchen knife you had nearby you last night, I was afraid I'd have some bad bad nostalgia when I saw that by you.." He chuckled a bit, now holding Sam's hand again. "And I'm glad you'll be my first..For everything.And most likely you'll also be my last."

“We both will be each others first… except for a kiss. I did kiss that woman and that was when we both knew it was not going to work out.” Pushing the door open to the building Sam ran his thumb along the back of Fates hand, a slight blush on his cheeks. “I don’t think I could even stab an intruder if I had too to save my life.”

"You're still my first kiss though, that's special enough.Well..You could consider it as your first real kiss maybe?The first one you really meant?" He said, looking over at Sam as they walked together out of the apartment and down the streets. "Well I didn't know that. My brain goes oh crap knife here we go again, just hope they don't aim for the same spot again..It's not like I can die again but it does hurt..Would say like the fires of hell but I know nothing in this world will ever measure up to that. I was chitchatting with Hades one day and I kind of stuck my arm in while leaning on something, many curse words were said and I don't think the christian god much likes me now that I've said his name in vain so many times in a row."

“Well I hope that I was a good first kiss.” Sam blushed at the thought. He had not planned on kissing him it just happened but it had been good, really good. “I will try to keep knifes away from you then.” Stopping at a flower seller Sam pulled out some money and bought a rose bud to stick in his vest. He had a button hole made just for flowers where his lapel should have been if he was wearing his jacket. “So the fires of hell actually exist? They are not something that was just made up?”

"You were, really..Even though you aren't the one who started it, you were really good. " Fate smiled. "It's alright to have a knife around me, just no pointing it at me..Or letting me use it. I'm not that bad of a cook but it's best if anything I make doesn't require a very large knife..Last time I held one of those I nearly chopped off a finger." He said, showing a little scar on his left index finger. "They do but it's not all spectacular or anything..Pretty much a gigantic fireplace. Hades isn't that bad, either. Bit eccentric but not a bad guy. He's not even the main guy in charge, that'd be Lulu." He laughed.

“Oh I forgot to ask, would you like a rose for your vest, or a different flower?” Sam said before moving to far away from the seller. “She has some nice pins to you can pin it there if you don’t have a button hole like I do.”

"I'd love a rose." Fate said, smiling. "Don't even get me a particularly gorgeous one, you'll see what happens when I touch it.." He chuckled a bit. "It won't die, but..Well..You'll see.There's a hole for it, right here." He said, showing Sam where the button hole was on his vest.

Looking through her stock of roses Sam found a blossom that looked a bit odd because of its color. Paying her for the bud he handed it to Fate. “There you go, its not perfect and it will look nice on you.” not knowing what happened when Fate touched plants he had picked one that would look nice on fate if nothing harmed it. “So if I am your first… weren’t you ever kind of interested in knowing what it was like?”

"Thank you." Fate smiled and took the rose, when he touched it the bud opened to make a kind of cute, tiny rose and the petals turned black, but still looked lively.So lively in fact that it grew a vine of sterling silver around itself with small, dull thorns, making it into an attractive little pin as he tucked it in. "..Okay the vine part was me showing off." Fate laughed.

"I was..But I could never find anyone perfect enough for me.." He blushed.

Looking at the rose Sam smiled. “so they die but they don’t really die?” He said as he led him away from the seller. “Why did it turn silver?” Sam smiled happily. “So you really were waiting for me” Sam liked the idea that Fate had waited for him over a hundred years.

"Yeah, you could say that. The rose will slowly turn to stone over the day, into onyx..It's just a little trick I learned from one of the gods..It helps me not kill things when I touch them." He chuckled. "I didn't even have to turn it black, that was me showing off as well.If you'd like, at the end of the day I can do the same to yours, whatever color you'd like..Yes, you could also say that..I didn't know you even existed, but I guess all this time my soul was waiting for you."

Stepping up to Fate Sam gently touched the side of Fate’s face. “I would love a silver rose if you can do it.” his fingers gently rested against Fates face, he wanted to kiss him but he felt that would just be wrong to do. They really had not said they were stepping out together. “Do soul mate’s really exist?”
