Zadist didn't move for a few moments, though his eyes fluttered. At long last, his eyes popped open and he nodded. The male stood, streching and yawning, glancing at her. "Would you like me to hold your things?" He dug in his pocket, producing his credit card and handing it to the female, in case he was asleep again when she decided to pay. |
"Er, well..." Silvana glanced down at the items in her hands, which were somewhat personal and very girlie. And as much as she knew the man enjoyed them, when on her, she would not make him carry them for her. "Haha, no. I think I can handle them. But after I get some shoes, I might need more help." She led the way to said section, roaming around with a dazed look on her face. So many shoes to choose from... They had Mary Janes, Mary Janes with heels, Roman and Greek sandals, ankle-high boots, calf-high boots. Some were black leather, some were other various colors. Many were modern, others looked Victorian. Silvana asked for size 7, to an attendant, who brought her her favorite Greek sandals which she thought would go with the orange-red sundress she'd purchased earlier. And then so got a couple of colorful Mary Janes with two inch heels for two of the other dresses. And lastly, a pair of brown boots that would go with practically everything. Now she was going to need assistance carrying her shoe boxes... Silvana glanced at Zadist with pleading indigo eyes. "Help," she squeaked.
|
Zadist had watched his mate shopping with amusement, though he was pleased, given away by the purring he produced. The attendant threw him a strange look, though didn't comment. As Silvana pleaded with him for help, the male stepped forward, giving the tinest of sighs. A born vampire fighter, carrying shoe boxes. But, it made his little laska happy, so Zadist found himself smiling, looking to her. "Where next?" |
Silvana found herself perpetually grinning today. She was so undeniably cheerful it scared her. She was not sure if it was due to the lovely..."fun"...Before bed, ditching school to be with the vampire, or shopping for new clothes. But no matter what it was, exactly, she could have been on Cloud Nine. The girl was still guilty about making Zadist carry the stack of shoe boxes, but her little arms could not handle everything by themselves. But they only had one more section to visit, anyway. "Well, uh..." She said trailing off in a momentary brain lapse. What had she needed again...? Oh, right! "The Junior's section!" she announced. "Last place. I need some casual clothing, too, aside from the fancy weird dresses I got earlier." So she marched along, leading the vampire. It was sort of funny, and ironic, the whole situation of shopping in a department store with a big, bad vampire. None of these people knew what he was capable of. But he was quite content, it seemed, spending some normal time with the girl even though he was falling asleep every time he stood still. Zadist had not been joking about vampires and daytime.
|
The vampire nodded in reply, trudging along behind Silvana. At the clothing section, he scowled at the clothes. Silvana deserved to be decked in a rainbow of jewels. But, these made her happy, so Zadist steeled himself to follow along after her, unable to continue his purring as he watched her move. She looked so happy, and he was taking secret pleasure that he'd done that for her. |
Silvana buzzed through the Juniors' section, busy like a bee. A very cheerful bee. She grabbed a pair of black pants, figure-flattering. Some shorts, not too short, not too long. One denim skirt, and one plaid. Colorful plaid. Then she got some tops to go with the bottoms. One being, amusingly, a T-shirt that probably referred to the prevalence of vampires in pop culture currently... But described her situation fairly accurately. It was crazy, gray with red and black lettering stating, "Only vampires can love you forever". Silvana laughed and held it up to show Zadist. She was not planning on buying it, of course. Because that would be too obvious and she was attempting to be discreet about their unusual relationship. However, she thought the words were funny. "Kids these days," the girl clucked, shaking her head, and putting the shirt back on the clothing rack.
((Another Silvana picture, because I was bored. I wish I had the pen to my tablet so I could color on the computer. =.= I own like NO good markers anymore and... Ughhh. Well, at least the colors are bright enough. )) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...ra/Silvana.jpg |
Zadist followed along like a reluctant puppy, though he grinned broadly as Silvana showed him the shirt. Still chuckling, he lifted the item off the rack she'd placed it on, hanging it over her head. "Why not get it?" (Sorry so short, on and off.) |
"Am I allowed to get it?" Silvana asked, smirking at the vampire. "Aren't you guys trying to be secretive about yourselves, hmm?" But she took the shirt from Zadist and slung it over her arm. Seriously, born vampires seemed to think they were destructible and no human could take them down. Somehow she felt that if the American government knew they existed there would be...Difficulties.
|
Zadist snickered, glancing at her strangely. "Do you honestly think someone would see you in that shirt and go, 'Oh no, she must be dating a vampire?' Sometimes, the most obvious things are looked over, love. Hurry, laska. We still need to find you a car. And I'm about to fall asleep here." |
"And go grocery shopping," Silvana added, laughing. He made a good point. It seemed smart, somehow, to hide in plain sight. Even though there was clearly something abnormal about Zadist, he could pass himself off as normal. Because even with his pallid complexion, pale hair, vivid emerald eyes, and aversion to sunlight... He was in the middle of a department store with a nerdy girl holding an armful of clothing while he carried shoeboxes. But she supposed after so many centuries of living, he would be used to disguising himself as a regular person and not... A predator of them. "Okay, I'll just go buy all this stuff, then," Silvana agreed, going over to a cashier at a counter in the center of the store. Since Zadist was dozing off almost, standing up, she paid with the card he had handed to her earlier. The total almost made her eyes roll back, but she silently reminded herself that he was loaded and he told her to get anything. Silvana still felt bad, but...
Afterward, she decorated her arms with plastic back filled with all of her new garments, and went back to the vampire. "We can head back to the car, now. Here, talk to me so you can stay awake. How many languages do you know? I am curious." Silvana only knew a fair amount of Italian, and Spanish, as a consequence. But nothing else. |
Zadist had dozed on his feet as Silvana moved off, paying. When she returned, however, Zadist took the bags from her, starting out towards the door with a tiny grin. "I was wondering when you'd start asking questions about me. I know twelve different languages. Where do you grocery shop at?" He opened his trunk quickly, shoving the bags inside before ducking into the car, sighing in relief when his body was out of the hot sun. |
Silvana got into her side of the car, drumming her fingers absentmindedly onto the dashboard until Zadist got back into the Eclipse and started it. She thought about the places she generally went with her parents growing up to buy food. Although she never went grocery shopping these says as she had to be at school the majority of the daytime. An occasional weekend trip with her mom was about the most she would do. "Well, there's a place called Basha's, which is back on Main... West side of the street. Huge sign. Have you seen it?" She gestured with her hands as she described the size and shape. And she could not help but grin at the idea of someone knowing twelve different languages! It would be impossible for a normal human to retain that much information! "Wooow, that's really impressive! Twelve! You could travel to soooo many places and not be lost! Which ones are your favorites? I would ask all of the ones you know, but I don't want to be annoying."
|
The vampire gave Silvana a tiny unreadable look before shaking his head, the car starting to move. "It's not annoying. Don't ever say that. I know English, obviously, Bulgarian, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Polish, and Czech, which I suppose would be my favorite. It's what I grew up speaking. And no, I haven't seen the place..." He fell silent then, pulling back on Main street and squinting at the side of the road. "Anything else, Laska? Is that it?" He nodded to a place that resembled the shape she'd made, though he couldn't read very well with the damn light in his face. |
Silvana gaped at the vampire. Wow, so many... Mostly European. But he did not seem to know Spanish or Russian, or Chinese, which were biggies in the populated world. At least he knew Italian, though. Maybe he would practice it with her. Silvana Di Morro had been to Italy once in her life, because her father was from Tuscany. It had been the most wonderful place she had ever seen, and occasionally she would dream about living there in a renovated farm villa with groves of blood oranges. Really, it was so beautiful and she got nostalgic just thinking about it. She snapped back to reality when he asked her if it was the right place, but she still managed to answer him in Italian despite herself. "Sě, questo č il posto giusto. Pensi di poter parlare italiano con me qualche volta? Ho bisogno di pratica. (Yes, that's the right place. Do you think you could speak Italian with me sometimes? I need to practice.)" Silvana grinned at herself. She still had it in her!
|
(Gah...most likely going to be the most horrible Italian ever.) The male had pulled into the parking space, shutting the car off before answering. "Dipende da quanto velocemente si possono ottenere fatto qui. Io preferirei evitare di dover pensare gli esseri umani diversi sono caduto a terra morto nel loro negozio." (Depends on how quickly you can get done in here. I would prefer to avoid having various humans thinking I've fallen down dead in their store.) He slipped out, moving around to hold open Silvana's door, holding his hand expectantly. Very much like a cat demanding to be pet, though it was a vampire demanding to have his hand held. |
Silvana's mind raced to keep up with Zadist's large, fast words. There was an enormous difference in skill level. He sounded fluent, but she could only remember the smaller vocabulary words of speaking simple phrases and carrying basic conversations. The girl had a lot to learn before she could go to Italy and not lose her mind. Hopefully the vampire could help her with that... It did not take too long to get to Basha's, mostly because the vampire drove like a maniac... Not a dangerous maniac. But he was fast. She was glad no policemen were around to see them shooting from place to place. Then again, it was not as the things were spaced incredibly far apart in the center of the city. Most of what people needed was all within five miles of each other.
Secretly the girl enjoyed the vampire's touchiness, or desire to be consistently touching Silvana. Holding out his hand expectantly like he always wanted her on it. She took Zadist's hand, climbing out of the car and glancing to the front of the store. Lots of people. Lots of things to buy. They'd need a shopping cart. |
Zadist grinned broadly as his female gripped his hand, depite the fact that his hands were already reddening and burning under her. Quickly, he moved towards the store, his grin faltering as he noted how busy it was. Hopefully he wouldn't fall over... Watching the human push metal baskets inside, Zadist looked from them questioningly to Silvana, wondering if he needed to acquire one for her, as well as how many humans he'd have to kill to get to the jumble. |
"I'll get the cart," Silvana said quickly. Zadist was clearly confused about what he needed to do. She ushered him through the sliding glass doors, to a space between them and the wall where whole rows of carts had been stacked up. She let go of the vampire's hand to acquire one of the carts, prying one out from a chain of them. "This is where you put the food," she said, "Because generally there's too much you need to get to carry yourself. First I need vegetables. A whole lot of fruits and vegetables." She started to roll the cart along, hoping that Zadist would follow her and not pass out from fatigue any time soon. She would only get some necessities this shopping trip. Like tomatoes and salad greens and such... Cheese, milk, bread, ramen, other soup mixes, pasta, pasta sauce... Well, eventually, she would get all of that. One thing at a time, she reminded herself. Don't confuse the poor guy.
|
The male nodded, though was frowning. Perhaps food shopping was something he should have paid attention to... Not liking that his female was having to do physical work: Pushing the cart, Zadist inched next to her, guiding her away from the metal basket, pushing it along next to her. "Okay...What kind of things do you..." He paused, yawning, his fangs looking dangerously close to sliding out, "Want the most?" |
Slightly irritated that the vampire felt the need to push the cart instead of her, but not caring enough to say anything about it, Silvana pulled a few plastic bags out of a dispenser. "I need some basics. Tomatoes, lettuce, potatoes, onions, apples, and strawberries, bananas, grapes..." As she spoke she acquired a couple of the items, placing them into the cart that Zadist rolled along. "It gets annoying having to cook, but that's what we have to do to eat." 'We' meaning humans, of course. But she did not want to get odd looks from the elderly woman picking up peanuts three feet away from them. "And over there, they have loaves of bread, which are good for toast and sandwiches..." Silvana disappeared for a moment to get herself some, and then came back, dropping it into the cart. When they had picked up all her necessary items, she gestured for him to come along with her to the canned food section. "Then there's the easy stuff you can make on a stovetop and in the microwave. Do you have pots and pans, or is your kitchen completely empty?"
|
Zadist had followed along quietly, looking for all the world like a lost puppy. "Uhh...I will by the time we get home..." He muttered after a moment, glancing sheepishly away before tugging out his cell. He spoke into it quickly, "Cynn. Děkuji bohyně jste vzhůru .... Opravdu? Oh ... jo ... v pořádku. Ochladí se a poté. Díky, uvidíme!" (Cynn. Thank the goddess you are awake....You did? Oh...yeah...okay. Cool, then. Thanks, see you!) Zadist hung up, turning and shaking his head at Silvana. "And we will have company, apparently. But, uh, Cynn got pots and pans on her way. She said she's brought some clothes for you, too..." Zadist cleared his throat, rubbing the back of his head. "S-sorry...I can make her leave if you'd like. She seems to like you, though." |
Silvana started to beam. Out of all the vampires that she'd met at the dinner party, the only one who had been remotely nice to her and helpful... Had been Zadist's sister Cynn. She looked like a little girl, though acted much older. And Silvana did not feel especially threatened by her, and was therefore not bothered when Zadist announced she would be joining them later that night. "No, I like Cynn," she stated, humming to herself as she dumped in a twelve pack of Nissin Ramen and some cans of Campbell's soup. Then she dropped in a couple of jars of marinari and alfredo sauce, and dried packages of spaghetti, penne, linguine, and lasagna. She could make lasangna no problem. All she needed was ricotta and cottage cheese, which she could get in the dairy section. Which was up next, actually. "Dairy section now," Silvana cut in, pointing. "Cynn's nicer to me than Phayte is. And I did sort of say I'd play dress-up with her. Maybe that's why she's bringing more clothes."
|
"Yes, well, about that." Zadist started uncomfortably, shifting his feet. "Like I said, Phayte is just scared for me. He's afraid you're with Melody or will turn out like her. He's just overprotective. And you'll regret telling her that. She's also brought a few...dolls, I suppose you could say." Zadist stopped the cart in front of the milk, eying it sceptically, "You don't drink that, right? And just try to remember, laska, our customs....and toys, are different than yours, so don't be too shocked, alright?" |
"I know nothing about Melody," Silvana stated simply, "So I can't possibly be like her. And yes, I do drink that," she said, grabbing a gallon out of the refrigerator and putting it into the cart. She picked up some Swiss cheese slices, ricotta, and cottage cheese, as well as a bag of some mixed shredded cheese--cheddar and white. All of them went into the cart. Now, all they needed was to visit the frozen food section for some juice concentrate and waffles or something... Maybe some ice cream. "I understand your customs are different, just like you think my drinking milk is weird and having curfews and stuff. I mean, you're obviously not from America, so even that much is different, right? One more section, Z. Frozen foods. That way." Though it occurred to her she still needed toiletries... Shampoo and deodorant... Toothbrush, toothpaste, a Venus razor... "On second thought, I need some hygenic slash cosmetic stuff, too. We can stop there after the frozen foods, it's just back that way." It was amusing for Silvana, thinking how much of an expensive pet she was for Zadist to have. So many needs...
|
Zadist seemed to think along the same lines for a moment, as he turned the cart, heading to frozen foods. "You are nothing like her, from what I've seen." He glanced at her quickly, before jerking his head forward once more. "Well, some things. Not many, though. She...sought me out, sought out a vampire. She wanted to be one, wanted the...power, I suppose. She never wanted me. That's..." The vampire hesitated once more, as if ashamed to be admitting his weaknesses, "That's what tore me apart, in the end of us, finding out I was just a stepping stone for her. I...had some issues after that. Phayte just doesn't want to see me like that again. We had been close, before her." He stopped the cart, turning to eye her, an almost pleading tone to his voice, "You won't be like her, right?" |
