Keji watched quietly as Lizz moved to the back of the cave, her form radiating a sort of energy. She was . . . excited? The elf frowned, leaning back and closing his eyes. I wonder how long she's been a vampire? With a slight shudder, the gray-haired male sighed, trying to let himself relax. He wanted to be home; to see his family once again.
Casting another glance in his companion's direction, Keji forced his gray eyes to close.

Adia thought something had just passed between the vampire before her and the newborn, but she wasn't quite sure. Whatever it was, she sensed their rivalry had only just begun. She almost smirked, remembering the occasional squabble between servants. Pressing her ear up against the walls and listening gave her so much thrill; it was so much more entertaining when she had someone else's troubles to mull over. Not that she was sadistic, just nosey.
Picking up the cards dealt to her, she shook her head slightly. "Is it hard to help it?" she asked, regarding the boy's mind reading. She was merely curious here, and tried to keep her tone free from all sarcasm. "Gambling does not bother me. It's just easy to be carried away is all. One must be careful with certain things..." she drifted off, disturbed by the cards dealt to her. "Oh, try not to cheat with that thought reading of yours," she said with an odd little smile.

Helga's grin stretched across her slender face. If Esmme thought she was doing a good job, then she could believe she was, too. Always able to take the good to heart, Helga felt quite refreshed knowing that she was far from hopeless in regards to maternal tenderness. "Yes. I vill make sure evervone is accounted fer," she said with a nod. In the main room, Ehl and the new girl were beginning a card game, and Vyr wasn't too far from them. She gave him a nod, and a small smile. "Vhere is Auda?" she asked the room while leaning against the stone's cool wall, but she didn't really have to ask. She could hear his enthusiastic laughter just outside. So she soon pushed herself from the wall and stuck her head out. "Just vhat is so funny?" she said with a grin.

Lizz closed her eyes, yawning slightly. It would be hard to sleep now.... but she knew sleep would be best during the day. She curled up into a circle looking at the blank wall of stone before her. She missed Piotr... missed him more then life... and the fact that he was gone... after them being so close.... and her stupidly falling for him.... A low sob escaped her lips as a blood red tear slid down her cheek thinking of the time they had spent together in his mansion shortly before his death..... he had warned her it had happened... told her that night would be their last together..... She had lovingly given herself to him.. body and soul. She cried a little harder, her small frail body shaking with silent sobs.

Esmme 07-22-2010 10:12 PM

From where he was, Keji fought to keep himself still. Hearing Lizz cry, no matter how hard she fought to conceal her quiet sobs, was torture. It was a few minutes later when the elf merely offered a presence, a shoulder to lean on. He hated seeing someone in pain, and Lizz certainly had her share written over her frail form.
Getting up quietly and moving to sit beside the girl, he placed a cool hand on her shoulder as she lay down, wishing he could say something to ease her pain. Sometimes there were no words for such moments.
Letting his gray eyes slip from Lizz to the cavern's entrance, Keji sighed quietly. Such is the life of our kind.

"It's like daydreaming," the young vampire said, ordering his hand a bit better. "It's hard not to do if I don't purposefully think about it." With the slightest of sly smiles, Ehl winked. "No cheating," he said, drawing a cross over his heart with his finger. As they started the game, the young vampire couldn't help but smile. It was a good change to hear Helga's thoughts in the room, and it comforted him more than he'd ever care to admit. Vyr was still near the kitchen, but the dark-haired youth resigned himself to ignoring the drow as best he could.

Ember Mist 07-23-2010 05:47 AM

Lizz jumped when she felt the hand of the elf on her shoulder and looked up wiping her eyes and panting slightly. "I..I..I'm sorry.. d..d..did I keep you awake?" She asked her voice thick with tears as she sat up wiping the last of the tears from her face. She hated others feeling sorry for her, it made her feel like an inconvenience to them.

Esmme 07-23-2010 06:04 AM

"I wasn't sleeping," Keji replied, smiling down at the girl. "Don't worry about me. Just try to relax and rest." The elf's pale hand stroked her arm awkwardly for a few moments before he merely leaned his elbows against his knees, looking out at the sunlit clearing. Merely here for your comfort.

((:XD Alright, so Ehl and Adia are going to play cards for a long while. Heck, most of the time, really. At least until noon. They had a great time, and then Ehl eventually showed her many gambling games and the like. Esmme has disappeared, presumably into her chambers behind the navy curtain. I will be moving the day along quickly . . . thus, if anyone has anything to add, do so now. I will be shifting to the night hours so our vamps can be active once again in my next post, most likely. ^_^))

Kilia 07-23-2010 06:06 AM

((YAY!!!! *dances around and tosses flowers every where*))

Ember Mist 07-23-2010 06:32 AM

Lizz smiled and fought the urge to snuggle up to him and instead brought her knees up to her chin and looked outside. "I..I..Is it always going to be this lonely?" She asked in a soft whisper. She felt hopeless... but she knew Piotr would want her to be as strong as she could be.

Esmme 07-24-2010 04:47 AM

The vampire stared at the sunlight outside for many minutes before replying. "There is always someone else," Keji said, looking back to Lizz. "You won't be lonely forever." Not with my clan. With a small smile, he thought of Auda's tackling greeting, of Esmme's motherly smile . . . of Helga's embrace. Falling silent, the gray-haired elf thought of his family. I miss them.

The day went by slowly, and the vampires remained in their comforting shelters of darkness. By the time nightfall crept upon the world, Keji had pulled Lizz out of their resting place, urging her to follow him toward his home. They would be in the Cullyn den with a few hours.

((**Day is ending!))

Ember Mist 07-24-2010 10:26 PM

Lizz followed the vampire, slightly nervous about meeting this new clan. she had never been around other vampires before...

((I'm not dead!! just figured i would wait alittle while before posting again lol actually, i was waiting for keji to come back around so auda could greet him hehe))
Holy bumblebees on a boogie board Auda has just noticed that he has literally laughed his day away.Well, this was fun. hehe. guess it's time to go home now And off Auda went. He was tired and he figured it wouldn't be much longer till keji came home. and when he did, he would be waiting for him. more than likely, on his bed

Esmme 07-25-2010 02:21 AM

((*laugh* I'll have to post later . . . I'm rather brain dead right now. *grimace* Sorry, all.))

mwahhaha 07-27-2010 04:49 AM

Helga hadn't realized that she dozed off, tucked away in the best worn seat in the den, until she heard Auda's laughing increase in volume as he approached their corner of the forest and saw the dim blue light at the cave's mouth. Slowly, she stretched each notch of her spine and muttered, "Night already?" before knotting her auburn tousles on top of her head.
She grinned sleepily over at Ehl and Adia before grabbing a bottle of blood from the kitchen. For a moment, the homey scene made it hard not to miss Keji. This "early," she was a tad unprepared for the day and hadn't the properly distracted herself, yet. Yesterday, the snowman and the newcomers had been perfect. "If it vorks vonce...", she figured, while wrenching open the bottle with hands that seemed too dainty to "wrench" anything. "You vant some?" she said, offering the bottle to the newborn, who she heard was named Vyr. Not entirely selfish, she wanted him to begin to feel as at home there as she did.

***

Adia and Ehl had just finished their Xth game, and she was feeling quite a bit more at home because of it. Clearing her throat she took her turn at shuffling the deck. "What is it like here? I mean, what does your group do? Certainly not play all day?" she said, in her normal way of almost over annunciating words.

Kilia 07-30-2010 03:45 AM

((Ameika: *pops in, looks around, whistles before walking out again*))

deweyduquesne 08-02-2010 10:03 AM

So, Auda slowly starts trotting home. It was really beautiful, the forest i mean. full of life, and trees, and dirt, and all sorts of other things for him to play with. even if they didn't to play with him that often. but it was just another part of his home. and he loved it. So, he kept on trotting. And tried to pay attention to what was going on around him. he tried to locate every bird that chirped, or every squirrel to scurry by. it was fun. he even made a game out of it eventually.

Esmme 08-05-2010 09:23 PM

Ehl shrugged, watching Adia's hands. "We hunt." For a moment, there was silence. "We just fended off another clan," he said quietly, not really enjoying the fact that he brought it up. "And we were searching for others to join us." Another silence. "I guess we hit the jackpot, huh?"
His blue eyes filled with a mixture of regret and forced contentment. Truly, he missed being human - the sights of day, the other people - but he was content enough being where he was. Besides, there was no turning back. No one could.
"We're getting stronger. Esmme wants to find another clan like our own." He said nothing about his leaders thoughts - he read them often enough to know that she was uncertain about finding anyone else; vampires were monsters.
-

Esmme suddenly appeared at the front of the cavern, head inclined as the sun finally set. The clan mother let a smile grace her features before she turned to face the others. "He's home."
-

Just seeing the familiar lands made Keji's heart lift. Everyone was there - he could scent them already - and there were many others. For a brief moment of panic, the elf thought that perhaps another clan had come to finish off the Cullyn's. But then he saw Auda's blue flank, and a grin broke out over his pale features. Instead of saying anything to Lizz, the tall male darted ahead, using his vampiric speed to catch up to the wolf. "Auda!" He was too happy to be home to think of anything else.

Ember Mist 08-06-2010 06:37 AM

Lizz stayed behind, a bit shy as she was left alone and moved to stand slightly behind a tree, sensing the other vampires just ahead. What if she wasn't welcomed? She was a new comer into an obviously already built family. She didn't want to intrude on their happiness, or be a nuisance. Perhaps... I should just return to the city... She thought taking a step back into the forest.

Esmme 08-06-2010 07:53 AM

Esmme had disappeared by the time Ehl stood. "Keji's back!" he shouted, just in case someone had missed the announcement. In a flash of movement, he flickered outside, going to see the elf. It would be good to hear his thoughts again, to have Keji around . . . even if it was just to be with Helga again. How often she thought of him; missed him. And Ehl heard it nearly every time.
With a small burst of joy, the youth slammed into Keji, ending up getting his tackle reversed into a choke-hold. It was good to see him again.
-

"Leaving so soon?" Esmme stepped up beside Lizz, watching her intently. "Keji brought you, I assume?" The tall leader watched Ehl greet Keji, her blue eyes unblinking. "Are you afraid?"

Marsyas 08-06-2010 02:35 PM

Vyr had dozed off while watching the game between Adia and Ehl, but woke up just before nightfall. He was hungry and had a bit of trouble suppressing it successfully having to cover his mouth a number of occasions to keep the urges down. He was sitting silently when Helga walked past them into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of blood and offered him some, "I... Yes, thank you..." The newborn was ready to relax and hated the feeling of this pint up rage that swelled everytime he got hungry. Accepting the bottle he found him a glass and poured himself three or four in rapid succession. He then heard someone approaching and everyone started screaming that Keji was home. Putting the bottle down, Vyr was impressed by how much he was loved by his peers, it reminded him of the respect he had earned as a fighter in the underdark but there was another emotion prevalent that he had lacked. Smiling to himself, the drow stayed quiet and off on his own so not to get in anyone's way.

Ember Mist 08-06-2010 10:45 PM

Lizz jumped when she heard Essme behind her and turned wide eyed. "I..I..I don't belong.... I'm not part of the family...." She said looking down and biting her lip as she pushed a strand of hair behind her ear.

Esmme 08-07-2010 05:34 AM

"If you don't stay, how do you expect to have a family?" Esmme offered her hand. "I am the leader of the Cullyn clan, and I am offering you a room to stay in until you make your decision." The dark-haired elf let her blue gaze scan over Lizz before she smiled warmly.

((Hmm....i shall wait for Keji to find Ameika in his bed lol))

((I'll post tomorrow, I promise! I recently got a full-time job while being a full-time student. Things are a wee bit intense, but I have not forgot yoooou~!))

mwahhaha 08-16-2010 11:54 PM

((More than 5 hours have passed, so I can do a second post instead of editing the last one, right?))

Adia listened to Ehl's answer thoughtfully. If she was going to stay here, she had to really understand their inner workings. She wanted to, too. She told herself to think of the information he related academically and objectively. Still, she could not keep a small sneer from tilting the thin line of her mouth. She had a hard time imagining a life like that. A life so...violent. If she was correct, it appeared that the boy in front of her would have had a hard time of it, too, had he not lived it now. She wondered what bookish nook of the world he spilled from, but before she could debate over asking or not, two words disrupted the quiet of the cave, "He's home."
The eruption of action that came after that minuscule sentence was alarming to Adia. "Who's home? What's going on?" she said, with more than a little fear. At first, she thought perhaps an enemy like Ehl had mentioned arrived, but as people seemed happy with this homecoming, she just stood to shake out her skirts. If she was going to meet someone new, she might not have wrinkles in her clothes.
***

Helga smiled at Vyr, glad to see that his appetite was being tamed, yet not fully shunned. She knew how hard it could be to change so quickly and so drastically. Just as she opened a new bottle of blood, as the newborn was drinking quite heartily, she heard the news. "Keji's home?" she gasped.
The bottle nearly slipped from her pale fingers, and a couple drops of blood jumped from it's mouth to the cold floor. She clumsily placed the bottle down with shaking hands and sprinted to Keji's side.
For just a second she surveyed him. He was in one piece. He was smiling. He was play-choking Ehl while Auda seemed to quiver with excitement at their feet. This second was as long as she could restrain herself before plowing head long into the tangle. She was quite shocked at the tears the sprung into her eyes as she only touched his arm. The desire to step away and properly deal with the tears pressed inside her, but her joy was too intense at that moment for her to think about retreating. "I missed you, Keji," she said simply, a wide grin on her face.

Esmme 08-17-2010 12:31 AM

((^_^ Yay! I almost forgot about this little thread here, tucked away all nice and safe. *sniffs in disdain* I'm sorry about that, everyone. And Helga, deary, you sound busy!! Don't worry about your pauses . . . it's going to be busy for me from here on out as well. Life is changing for me.))

Keji's playful grin disappeared the instant Helga appeared beside him. Ehl laughed loudly, hearing his thoughts. Squirming away from his friend's now-loose grip, the youth headed over to loop an arm around Auda, watching as the couple greeted one another.
"Helga," the elf breathed, unable to say much more. Instead of speaking, Keji threw his arms around her, his expression one of sheer pleasure. Had it really only been a few months? Almost a year, perhaps? It seemed like much longer.
"I missed you," he whispered into her hair, holding the woman close for a few moments before pulling away. His hands then moved to comb through her hair, cup her face, and draw her closer - only to press a kiss to her lips in excitement, unable to think of doing anything else. Of course, the inevitable blush made Ehl laugh, but the gray-haired elf merely kept his eyes on Helga. "H-how is everything? How are you?" More beautiful than ever, for the record. It had been far too long since he'd seen her face.
