Life, now going by the name of Christina sat in a small coffee shop reading the news paper. She was looking for a new home to blend into the human world with. A small appartment was really all she could afford and a room mate was best. After about ten minutes of scanning through ads and sipping her tea, she found one that looked decent. A guy in the downtown area was looking for a room mate to split costs with and had a small two bedroom appartment. She paid at the counter for her tea and left to go ask about the appartment.
Ten minutes of walking and she was standing outside the building, staring at the enterance. Upon heading in she felt an odd tingle. Ah, the one of the women upstairs was pregnant. She glanced down at the news paper again to check the room number and knocked hard on the door with a singal bang to see if anyone was home. |
"if you're not here to be my roommate, you're not welcome!" Gavin yelled, turning off the stereo. Humans had great taste in music. He looked around the room, making sure nothing was particularly out-of-place, then went and opened the door. "I'll take that newspaper in your hand to warrant a yes. Do you want to come in?"

Christina rised an eyebrow as she walked in. "And hello to you to.", she said with a bit of a laugh. It was exactly as discribed, small two bedrooms at the back, a kichten/dinning room to the right and a living room at the left, the far left seperated off as a bathroom. "So, how are you?", she asked, trying to start a convrsation to see if she would like the one who could become her furture room mate.

"What a way to start off a conversation about a room," Gavin said. This girl, with her light and breezy attitude, got on his nerves quickly and efficiently. "Is that one of those tests with which one would determine the mental state and attitude orientation of another? If so, I'm just peachy. Couldn't be better if I actually tried. And, since it is supposedly polite to ask, how are you?"

Christina walked a circle around the main part of the appartment while talking,"I'm alright, though a bit warm...", she took off her jacket and set it on the chair in front of her, "Although that was just an attempt to start a covnversation. Nothing...weird." She smiled at him, then noticed the radio on the table across the room. She walked up an turned it on low to see what he had it set to.

Gavin grinned to himself. The music might be the thing to start changing her mind about staying here. This girl was a double-edged knife to him. On one hand, she could help pay the rent. Gavin was terribly behind in payments, and nobody had come to check out this place in a while. The landlord was about to evict him. On the other hand, she was annoying. As he watched her, a thought occurred to him. "What's your name, then?" |
With the music on she paused a momment...it was...very heavey. Metal, rock, far from her taste, so she turned it off again. Then she heard his question, "I-My name is Christina Morrisen, what about yours?". She was attempting to hold the smile to her face and doing it well as far as she figured but she didn't know how to react to this guy, did he even want her here?

Now Gavin got the satisfaction of seeing her smile waver. It meant she was breaking. He smiled darkly. "Gavin Hayes. How did you like my music?" It occurred to him at this point, quite ironically, that having this girl stay may be the better choice of the two. Surely he could put up with a bit of this annoying cheeriness if it pays the rent, right? Most other humans have to put up with situations they don't like. If he was going to do this, he might as well do it all the way through, right? But still, the tiny seed of doubt lingered. Maybe I should try getting to know her more before I make a decision...

"Gavin? Thats a nice name...your tast in music is...uh...interesting.", Chirstina said as she held her forced smile, though he voice made her thoughts obivous. She wandered back to where she had set her coat and sat down. "So, uh, tell me about youself?", she said, attempting to change the subject. As long as he doesnt ask about me its all good...Although i'm starting to wonder if i should find somewhere else anyway...

Gavin grinned. It seems they were on the fast track to getting her out. So the question was, Slow it down and enjoy the ride, or just rush through? "Interesting, huh? so you're not a metal person? Well, you should be. There's nothing more interesting than a good metal song." There. Let that decide.

Christina frowned, "You cought me...", a momment after her bubbly smiled returned and she spoke cheerfully again, "But i like country, and there are some inbetweens after all!" She was trying her best to get along with this guy, she had to, she had nowhere else to go, but he seemed almost pleased by her lack of love for his music. The more she thought the more she wondered, Maybe i should just give up on this whole "being human" thing after all...no I wanted to do it for a reason.

"You'd be hard-pressed to find them. Maybe the closest you could get is Folk Metal... But that's folk and not country. No, I don't know of any combinations." And there begin the first steps onto a very rickety bridge... Gavin momentarily wondered whether or not he would drop her into the chasms below said bridge, before shaking himself back to the simple truths of what would and wouldn't happen.
