Addison didn't really like being nosy, but he just nodded. He wouldn't ask or try to delve into Ian's inner conscious. Hell, he didn't expect Ian to last long. It was something that would last a couple days, then Ian will think he is no longer needed, and then leave it at that. He didn't expect a real relationship, and why should he? He'd be setting himself up for heartbreak if this was only temporary. "Dakota is a nice name." he whispered to himself. It was a sweet name.

Addison managed to get all his homework done in that time, he was pretty smart since all he COULD do was pay attention in class, and was putting his stuff in his bag when the bell rang. He waited in his seat, wondering if they should be outside waiting, but then Addison would probably make a dash for it. He felt like a prisoner out on parole. The heavy breathing of Ian caught the younger boy's attention, and he felt his stomach turn.

Why did he have to look like he rushed? Addison sighed and stood, uttering a small hello and walking over. "You don't have to walk me to every class, you know. I doubt I'll be bothered with today. Besides, there are only two more periods left..." Ian needed a break, really, in Addison's opinion.

TobiasRosetta 07-26-2010 01:55 AM

Ian just grinned at Addison and shook his head, chuckling. "Don't worry about it, Addy. I really don't mind. I only rushed because I had to run an errand for Coach Grable on the way. I had to take a quick detour to the spanish teacher up stairs." He explained, reaching over and randomly tugging affectionately on a small section of Addisons hair with a small grin and a wink. "No big deal." He said, taking one last deep breath before returning to normal. Looking over to Nick, he smiled at the guy and nodded. "Thanks for the help man." He said, holding a hand up in a stationary wave.

"No problem. He's a cool kid." Nick replied, getting up and pulling his backpack over his shoulder, heading out past Ian and Addison. "Later, Addy. See ya tomorrow." He said, flashing a grin over at the younger teen before heading out. Ian looked pleasantly surprised.

"Seems like you and Nick are getting along. That's good. He's a really good guy." Ian said, smiling a little to himself as he hooked his thumbs into his pockets. "So... What class do you have next?" He asked, rocking back onto his heels in a half stretch.

Shame_ 07-26-2010 02:08 AM

Addison made and audible grunt when his hair was gently pulled, the eye on the side which was pulled closed. He swatted irritably at him and shook his head loose. "It's a big deal to me..." Addison muttered, looking off to the side with a clouded expression.

He looked up in time to see Nick off and he waved. "Yea, tomorrow." he nodded, putting his hands in his pockets. He looked back up at Ian. "Yea, he was really nice. I have speech next." And he was dreading it. Today they had to present their speech, and Addison didn't feel up to speaking and boring the class.

Reminding him, he looked through his bag to try and find his cards so he'd have them before giving it. He looked through, and his eyes started to get a fraction wider. He couldn't find them. Did he leave then with the teacher? No, he took it home to practice. Home..home...What did he do again when he got home? He groaned and hit his head against the wall. "Fudge..." he said, looking down at his shoes. "Stupid." He left them on his desk back at home.

TobiasRosetta 07-26-2010 02:40 AM

Ian had been about to turn and head out of the classroom when Addison paused to search in his bag for something, so Ian waited as well, frowning a little when he saw the familiar panic on the boys face. He'd felt that before. He'd forgotten something. "Is everything okay, Addy?" He asked softly, frowning a bit as he walked over. He wanted to reach out, and be like he normally was, but he could tell that Addison disliked physical contact, so he refrained from what he would have normally done, keeping his hand at his side instead of touching the teens shoulder.

"Forget something?" Ian added, trying to understand what had gone wrong. Addison seemed like the type who always did pretty well in class, but everyone made mistakes. Tugging a little at the hem of his shirt, Ian frowned a little, crystal blue eyes looking the upset youth over quietly, wishing he could help. "If you need to pick something up from home, I could get an excuse from Jazz Band, and drive you. I wouldn't mind." He offered, shrugging a little bit. While Ian wasn't incredibly muscular, it was obvious from his physique that he was an athlete, his muscles toned, tight, and sleek under fairly pale olive toned skin. He was lanky, but not scrawny.

Shame_ 07-26-2010 03:19 AM

Addison looked sadly over at Ian. "I forgot my notes for my speech.." he admitted, looking terribly upset. He groaned and leaned against the wall with his back. This was terrible. He looked back over at the offer to be driven home, but his mother would be home at that time, and if she saw him there she would have a fit.

"No...If you drive me I'll be late tot he class, and if I have one more tardy, I have detention. If I have detention, I get grounded." He didn't want to get grounded. Grounded litterally meant his body would come to the ground. That hurt. A lot.

"No...No, I'll deal." he breathed deeply and pushed off the wall, pulling at his hair nervously and heading off to his speech class. He tried to look brave, not wanting Ian to worry.

TobiasRosetta 07-26-2010 09:03 PM

"Well, I'm sure if you explain it to your teacher, Addy, they'll understand. Who do you have? Miss Jackie, or is it Mr. Corbin?" Ian asked as he let his long legs catch up to Addison, who'd gotten a head start on him. Sighing a little, Ian could tell Addison was putting on a brave front. He seemed like the kind of kid who worried to much about everyone else. It wasn't very long before they were at his classroom, so Ian paused and set a hand on Addisons shoulder, gently. "It'll be okay, Addy. Maybe you won't get called on to go today. It takes quite a bit to get through speeches for a whole class, so maybe you won't be called on today at all." Ian pointed out, looking on the bright side as we always did, with a reassuring smile, his eyes warm as he down at Addison.

"Anyway, goodluck. I'll see you after class." He said, finally letting his hand drop away and stepping back, to glance around a little, making sure if it was afe or not to leave the younger teen there. With one last wave, Ian turned and headed to his own class, just down the hall.

Shame_ 07-26-2010 09:39 PM

He hoped Ian was right. He'd prefer to go unnoticed. One time the teacher had even forgotten he was in the class, and had missed him on her sheet, so he didn't have to go. He was so nervous of people, he didn't go up to tell her that he hadn't gone. Perhaps it would happen again? He looked up at Ian when he felt his hand on his shoulder and nodded. "You're right." Addison admitted, looking back down at his shoes before sighing. "You should get to class...I'll see you later.."

He stood there a moment as he saw Ian rush away to his class, which wasn't too far from his own, and he headed in, feeling sick and nervous. He felt nauseous. And to his luck, he was the first one called. "I am so sorry I had missed you last time. I noticed after school one day that I had a hole in your grade, so I didn't want you to miss out this time!" the woman said in a chipper tone. Addison stood there, frozen.

The bell rang, and he stood at the front of his class, trying to recall his intro. He was going to fight through it. "U-Umm.." he stuttered, shiftily looking at the bored student faces. Some in the back made paper airplanes and began throwing them at eachother. The teacher apologized to Addison then looked back at the two that were making a ruccuss, telling them to shut up or she'd made them, then turned a sweet smile back at Addison. "Continue, Story." she said. The boys in the back snickered. "What a childrens story book name!" they whispered.

Addison began him intro again, speaking softly. The teacher urged him to speak louder. He sighed in frustration, picking at his fingers. "I--" he began, about to tell her he didn't have his notes. Then he felt something stir in his stomach, then rise in his throat. He went a little green, then burst from the class room to the nearest restroom to hurl. He didn't quite make, but he was able to direct himself to a trashcan out in the quiet halls.

TobiasRosetta 07-26-2010 11:27 PM

Ian had only just gotten settled in class, pulling out the bass guitar that he played for the jazz band, sitting down and checking the tuning before the teacher asked him to deliver something to the office. Most of his teachers counted on him to run errands, because they knew he was usually fairly prompt, and wouldn't abuse the responsibility. He was walking down the hall, a pass and a thick folder in one hand, the other running through his hair as he strolled, just in time to see Addison dart from the classroom, to the nearest trash can. He let out a sigh. For some reason, the gods were with Addison and him today, setting everything up to make them cross paths as many times as possible. Peeking his head in the speech classroom, he looked over at the teacher.

"Miss Jackie? Addison hasn't been feeling very well today, so I'm gonna take him to the nurses office. Please, excuse him." He asked, offering the young teacher a dazzling smile, and a wink, and waited for her nod of approval before slipping back out and walking over to Addison. "Hey there... Come on. I'm headed to the office, so finish puking and I'll walk you to the nurses so you can lay down for a bit. You're excused from the rest of your speech class." Ian said in a soothing voice to Addison, already tucking the folder under his arm, to pin it against his ribcage so he could reach over, and pull the younger teens hair up and out of the way, holding it in place with one hand while he used the other to rub his back.

"And before you say anything, I'm your guardian angel now, so theirs no use in trying to fight me."

Shame_ 07-26-2010 11:37 PM

The brunette coughed as the last of the putrid bile left his system. The taste lingered on his lips, and he didn't hear Ian talking to the teacher, so was surprised when hecame up behind him, pulling away his hair and trying to give some comfort. He sighed and straightened slightly, looking at his sleeve like he wanted to wipe away what was left, but he shook his head and instead licked it from his mouth and spat it back out.

"Sorry you had to see that.." he droned, standing straight. He laughed roughly, feeling like someone who got drunk and hurled from a hangover and Ian was the best friend trying to help. Addison had never been hung over before, but they had shown a movie in health one day was how he even knew what it was like. "I'm fine now, really. I can go back..." He worried that if he went to the nurses, they would try to send him home.

"You really should go finish your arrend."

TobiasRosetta 07-26-2010 11:56 PM

"Don't worry. I'm used to it. I had to do this a lot for my mom, when my dad was in the military." He explained softly, shrugging. "I'm not squeamish, really. I want to be a nurse, so if this stuff bugged me, I'd be pretty lost." He said with a chuckle. Sighing though, when Addison insisted he could go back into the classroom, Ian shook his head. "And risk having to get up there again to give your speech? Uh uh. It's Mr. Brenners day in the nurses office, and his solution for everything is, 'lay down for the rest of the period with this ice pack on your forehead'. I went in once when my knee blew out sophomore year, and that's what he did for me, until the principal came in and freaked out. If anything, it'll get you out of the rest of that class period, and you can go back tomorrow, with your speech, and be totally ready for it."

Ian knew he spoke a little too much sometimes, but with guys like Addison who didn't speak very much at all, it was easy for him to just get a little carried away. He let Addisons hair go though, and shifted the folder and hall pass to rest in the crook of his arm lazily.

Shame_ 07-27-2010 12:06 AM

Addison clearly looked releaved to hear that and nodded. He could sleep that meant, and catch up on what he lost the night before. His body had paid for it, the lack of sleep. He marveled at how Ian had a knowledge for everything, and knew how to weasel out of things. He admired him and felt himself smile, smoothing his hair where he had held it.

He looked over to Ian, seeing him shift his folder and turned to head for the office. A guardian angel. The statement couldn't be anymore true. He closed his eyes and thanked whoever it was that worked miracles. It took him the day, but he finally accepted Ian and his help to be true.

"So, what is that?" he asked, trying to make conversation. There were other things he wanted to talk about, like Ian's family, but he worried if it was all right to ask, after what Nick had said. From what he could tell, their father was always gone, the mother does something to cause her to get sick, and the brother is in a way like Addison. Was Addy not the only one in the school with a not so swell childhood?

TobiasRosetta 07-27-2010 12:27 AM

Ian blinked, slowing down a little so that he and Addison were walking side by side. The taller boys strides had a tendency to carry him too far too fast, if he wasn't careful. The question had surprised him a little bit. He was still under the assumption that Addison was going to resist his presence, but smiling finally, he had a speck of hope that maybe the kid would relax, and accept him.

"It's the program information to make this years concert calender, as well as the program for our next performance in two weeks. It's going to be pretty great. A night completely devoted to lounge jazz music. A talent showcase, kind of." Ian explained, smiling brightly. It was obvious that music made him incredibly happy. "I've got to print off a few hundred copies so that they can be folded over the next couple weeks" He added, chuckling a little bit.

"I'm a bit of a pushover sometimes, I'm afraid. I have a hard time saying no to teachers." Ian laughed a little bit at himself, scratching the back of his neck a little as he blushed.

Shame_ 07-27-2010 12:50 AM

Ian seemed to be walker slower than he was used to, so Addison tried to quicken his pace. He was pretty good at scurrying along to get to his classes quickly before he could be bullied. "I'm sorry, I'm short.." he muttered, looking down. He was even causing the 'guardian angel' physical problems.

Addison listened to his answer to his question, and watched his face and heard his tone as he talked about concerts and music. "That must be your passion?" he asked, positive that the answer would be yes. Addy looked down. He wished he had something he was good at. Something he was passionate about. But he couldn't draw or play an instrument to save his life. He had never tried to sing or dance, but he was positive he was bad at those too. There was just nothing he could be good at besides being a screw up in the eyes of his parents. One thing was perhaps being there for his brother, but that was about it. His parents weren't mean to him anyway. It was only Addy they were upset about. He hadn't been wanted. He was the reason they fought. He was the destroyer of their dreams. They didn't plan for him.

Addison shook his head, trying not to think about it. That wasn't what was supposed to be thought about in that moment. "So, you'll listen to instructions from adults, but you are positively down right stubborn when it comes to students?" he asked, implying about himself. A teacher could get him to run errand's, but if Addison wanted him to be gone, it was out of the question. It was funny, and kind of cute. "You really are quite the character."

They made it to the office. Addison paused and looked between the doors to the office, and the doors to the nurse, then turned to Ian. "This is my stop, I guess." he said, pulling his shirt up. He then noticed that he hadn't grabbed his bag. He was going to have to go get it before his next class. Which was on the opposite end of the school from the speech/debate class. It seemed he was forgetting things left and right that day! First his lunch, then his note cards, and now his bag.

(Oh god..My friend is drinking XD Last thing I need in a tipsy bestie)

TobiasRosetta 08-14-2010 07:20 PM

I am SO sorry! My laptop was completely DEAD. I was able to sign on to my phone to check for messages, but it wouldn't let me reply to anything. I've finally got it fixed though, so I'm bacccckkk! <3 }}

Ian had to laugh, and shook his head. "Don't apologize for a physical attribute, silly. It's not like you can help it. No more than I can help being tall." The senior teased a little as they walked. It seemed they were able to find a happy balance of pace between the two of them, and walked fairly easily the rest of the way to the office. Again, he was forced to blink slightly in surprise, glancing sidelong at his new friend. "A lot of people think music is my passion.... It used to be, when I was younger. But... No. It isn't anymore. My passion.... is kids." He said softly, looking forward again. He realized that sounded badly, so he quickly added on to it. "Working with children. Day care, foster kids... There's a lot of children out in the world who are in a bad place physically, emotionally, and I want to help them somehow. That's why I volunteer at the Boys and Girls club. Last year I was part of the Big Brother Big Sister program, but I needed to concentrate on school this year since it's my senior year... I also work at a non profit day care on the other side of town, part time." Sighing a little, he lowered his head with a sad smile. "I've seen what life can do to kids who don't have someone to care and... I made a promise to someone, and myself that I wouldn't let that happen to anyone that I can help."

Looking up as they finally approached the nurses office, he forced a laugh and shook his head. "No, I'm only stubborn with people I like." He joked, winking at Addy as he leaned on the doorjamb. "Alright Addy, get some rest, and I'll be around at the end of class. Don't you dare go on without me, or I'll pout a whole lot." He warned, giving a demonstration pout that really did make him look a bit like a sad puppy dog. Just as the nurse walked in, Ian leaned up away from the door. "Afternoon, Mr. Brenners. Addy isn't feeling well, so I brought him here to lay down for a bit." Mr. Brenners, a slightly overweight gym teacher, just nodded, shrugging as he glanced at Addison.

"Fine with me. As long as it's not broken or bleeding." He muttered, heading out to the front desk to sit, to give Addison some quiet. Winking at him, Ian waved, and headed over to the administrative part of the office to get to printing.

Shame_ 08-14-2010 07:55 PM

(I've killed my fair share of laptops, so I understand. This one almost died...but...I saved it with system restore. Never watching anime with megavideo again =-= Sorry for being all "Ney ney, where'd you go 8^8" I don't like to be a pest, but neh, have to ask.)

Addison gave himself a mental slap. It truly was silly to apologize for something as such, but he had always found himself sorry for everything, whether he did it or not. If his brother did something bad, it was Addison's fault, not the boy's. Addison was ok with taking the blame from his brother, though. He'd never wish punishment on that little ray of sunshine.

"S--" he caught himself from apologizing again. The teen hadn't thought anything of his first sentence about the children, but hearing him quickly add made him realize how he thought he sounded. Addison looked down as they continued to walk, watching his shoes. Was that why he was suddenly talking to Addison? Did he feel that that was the kind of person he was? Addy wasn't sure how to feel about it. "That's very noble of you..." he replied softly.

"Did you promise to your brother?" As soon as he found himself asking, he wished he didn't. "Ah, I mean...." Quickly he tried to think of something to cover it up, but he found he couldn't. He didn't want to say that Nick had mentioned something, in case it was a too sore subject to share. "F-Forget it."

The nurse stepped forth, saving Addison from hearing an answer, and he nodded to Ian. "Ah...I'll stay put.." he promised, looking away from the pout. It was a face he'd seen his brother make. He saw Ian off before stepping into the office and laid down on one of the blue beds. He curled up into a fetal position and quickly fell asleep, catching up on some seriously needed shut eye.

~

It didn't seem to last long, the nap, for soon the bell was about to ring. A student assistant talked Addison awake, and the still a little wet teenager sat up, rubbing his eyes. "Thank you." he called out, standing and heading back to the door to wait. The bell hadn't rung just yet, so there weren't many students in the hall. Some roamed freely, having asked to use the restroom and such but really just wanted to get out of class early.

Addison looked back at the clock in the nurses room, the arm ticking away to show that only a few more seconds until the first bell, and Addison remembered he needed to go back to the Speech room to get his book bag.

(wow it's a little bit long >.>)

TobiasRosetta 08-14-2010 08:28 PM

Yeah I had a system 32 corruption. Had to wipe my hard drive, and found out I was over-clocking my poor old laptop by 1 gig, just for the OS, so I put on a lower OS and we're all good now. = ) }}

Ian had been deeply surprised to hear Addison ask if it had been his brother that he'd promised to. He was just about to ask how he'd known about Dakota, but it wasn't more than a second later that Mr. Brenner had shown up, so Ian dropped it, and let Addison get the rest he needed. His mind was whirling though, as he stood at the printer, trying to figure it out. Paul wouldn't have said anything... It struck him then. Sighing, Ian shook his head. Nick... It wasn't really that big of a deal. It wasn't really some huge secret. It was just hard to talk about. But now Addison was curious, and Ian didn't want to seem like he was hiding things....

After everything was printed out, the senior filled up a box with the thick stack of papers and peeked in on Addison quietly, before heading back to class. Through the rest of class, he was a little distracted, thinking about how he should tell Addison, or if he should, about his brother. Ian hated playing the victim. And even if he wasn't, he didn't like for people to worry for him, or pity him. The rest of his music class drudged on, and just before the bell rang, he packed up and left.

It hadn't been lost on Ian that Addison had forgotten his backpack. The dark haired senior had noticed, when Addison had. So a quick stop at the Speech/Debate class had him grabbing the bag, and saying hi to the teacher, before running off to the office, giving Addy a lopsided grin as he jogged over. "Hey, here, I grabbed this for you." He said, holding out the bag. "Where to next?"

Shame_ 08-14-2010 08:45 PM

(that's good ^^)

Addison reached forward and grabbed his bag, taking it from the cheery young adult in front of him. His head nodded as he gave a very soft 'Thank you' before they headed off again. "I have Pre-Cal last." he answered, heading off into the direction of the glass. He hadn't forgotten his question, so he looked up.

"Look...About you brother..I don't want to know. I didn't mean to ask, it just slipped out. Usually I am very good about thinking before speaking, but today it just flows.." Addy turned his eyes back down to the halls. He didn't want to hear about a sad topic, not when he had enough to think about for his own.

TobiasRosetta 08-14-2010 09:10 PM

Ian sighed a little, looking down at Addison quietly. "But you do want to know, or else it wouldn't have been there to slip out. It's not really like it's a huge dark secret that I try and keep from everyone, though. It's a long explanation, so, I don't really have time to tell you right now. But I'll drive you home after class, and that'll give us enough time. It's actually a pretty big factor of why I am the way I am today. I wasn't always like this, honestly." He said softly, shoving his hands into his pockets as they walked to the math wing.

"You're lucky, actually. I have Trig right across the hall from Pre-Cal, so I won't be too far away. And then, my car is just parked on the other side of this building so... It should be pretty easy to get into a routine." Ian said with a smile, suddenly. He liked being around Addison. The small boy had a presence that wasn't irritating, or over the top, like so many of the other teens that just tried too hard anymore. Stopping at the door of Addisons classroom, Ian looked down at Addy. "And in case you were wondering, I'm not hanging around you because I think of you as another charity case or something. It's because I want to get to know you. I like you, Addy, and I want you as a friend. So relax a little. We're both just people." He explained, heaving his shoulders up in a shrug, before turning and heading to his classroom on the other side of the hall.

Shame_ 08-14-2010 09:42 PM

(I'm over the top >.> lol)

Addison knew it was true, but still he shook his head. "No. Don't tell me. I admit I was curious, and that I still am. But just because I am curious doesn't mean I'm going to keep asking about it..." He turned to the taller teen and smiled. "Ok? So don't worry about it."

Addison was pleased that he was getting a ride home. This way he wouldn't ever be late in picking up his brother and taking him home. "Just...We have to pick up my brother, and I would appreciate it if you could drop us off a block away. My mom gets home early, and she would freak if she saw my brother and I in a car with a stranger."

As soon as they stopped at the door, Addison looked up at his face, not quite making eye contact, but looking at his cheeks. "Just friends...Got it." He gave a quick smile and a nod, before turning into his class when Ian left.

TobiasRosetta 08-14-2010 10:24 PM

{{ Hahahaha I can be too. }}

Ian frowned a little, before shrugging again. He knew, that it would come around again eventually. But he'd drop the subject for the time being. "Alright. Anyway. No problem with the picking up of the brother. I've got time and gas." He added, before waving. He couldn't help but think to himself as he walked away that he didn't like the sound of 'just friends.' He pushed it out of his mind, though, and headed into Trig, pulling out his homework...

Class seemed to drag, and again, Ian was having trouble focusing. Normally, he could get through the day without having to think too much about Dakota, or everything that was involved with all of that part of his life. But hearing Addison ask about it... It was hard. Especially with how much the younger teen reminded him of his brother. Sighing a little, towards the end of class, Ian dropped his head onto his desk, and zoned out, until Jessica Giles shook him awake.

"Ian... Ian wake up! Mr. Heath is looking at you like he's gonna kill you!" She hissed. Ian snapped back to attention and sat up, blushing a bit.

"Sorry, Mr. Heath. I didn't mean..." The teacher waved it off and issued him a warning, before continuing to deliver the homework assignment for the night. Packing up, Ian headed across the hall to lean on one side of the pre-cal door, just a minute early, to wait.

Shame_ 08-14-2010 10:49 PM

Addison had a much easier time in his math class. He actually enjoyed that class, for he was naturally smart. He didn't notice it, of course, since the teacher didn't pay him much mind, probably because of his appearance and usual smell. But he did all his homework and got his tests right, and never asked questions.

He had been able to pay attention in the class, having fallen asleep one time in fourth grade and being embarrassed by the teacher. He had a phobia of dozing off in class. He also didn't have any bullies in his math class. The typical kid that would try to cheat on him, sure, but never a bully.

The class ended and Addison took his time putting his things in his small backpack. He had had the blasted thing since middle school, so it was a little small and torn. He walked out to see Ian all ready at the door, and it made him jump.
