Dorian mumbled to himself as he continued to fidget around with the parts for the gadget. Occasionally, he would rub the bridge of his nose gingerly and return to figuring out where pieces went. “Okay, as long as you know that once our feet reach the shadows, our entire existence will be the next thing to go,” he said softly. Her confirmation was all that he needed. After what felt like hours, the compact weapon was now complete. “Eureka, I’ve done it,” he exclaimed before bursting out in laughter. “I’ve always wanted to say that, but hey Aub, I’m done with the thing.” Dorian held out the device so Aubrey could see what it was. It was an odd contraption; the energy-saving bulb extended from the front edge with a trigger from a paintball gun underneath the bottom and a magnifying glass on the top. “So … what do you think?”
