"Of course you count Flutter. You're also a human. I don't think I would do too much for money...I mean...money is important, but I wouldn't do bad things for money...only good things like get a job and work." he said and smiled.
"Yes, but there's not much I can do anyway." She laughed a bit, trying to hide that there was another reason she'd said what she had. It was getting harder to hide it. "Anyway, I should get going. Sorry for imposing for so long. Please, stay safe, alright? Your safety is important, after all."
Neer was a little confused but nodded at what she said. "No, it's okay...neighbors talk to each other...it's quiet normal actually." he said and smiled. "I'll stay safe, I promise." he said and watched her leave. He was confused by what she said last and shook his head trying to remove it from his head. "My safety is important? Well...I assume everyone's safety is quiet important actually." he said to himself.
As she left, she closed the door easily behind her to show herself out before letting out a deep sigh. "Maybe I really wasn't cut out for this..." Green eyes glanced around again, however a vibration in her pocket caught her attention, and the message only did more so. "An intercepted message, huh? Better get back and see what Graile wants this time..." Swiftly, she began to head back towards headquarters, or as she called it in public, 'home' for the briefing about the most recent information.
Neer sat on the couch for a while before heading off to the shower. Once he came out of the shower, he read the news online for a few minutes before shutting down his laptop and heading to his room. "Flutter is one odd girl, but she's nice...and like I said, we're all weird in our own little way." he said and plopped down on his bed.
Flutter went outside only after ten minutes of being home, seemingly in a state of major frustration. "It can't be... No! I refuse to believe it! He won't get ahead of me this time!" She kicked a small pebble as she walked, looking around after a moment. "Let's see... I was told the attack will be at the corner of seventh street and seven o'clock.... They didn't say if it would be in the morning or not though..." She sighed. "Either way, I do have to get something from the store, but... It's not too far from Mister Pierce's house, if I'm correct... Should I check in on him on the way?"
Neer lay on the bed pretty bored. "What should I do...I could just sleep. Or, I can play video games!" he said and jerked out of bed. He quickly grabbed the Halo game and put it on. He watched it load and then began to play it intently. Halo was his obsession at the moment, he loved playing it. "Hmmm....let's look in here..." he said to himself and entered a room. He smiled as he played and chuckled whenever he killed someone.
She made an excuse in her mind for what she'd tell him if she was asked when she rang the doorbell. I can always use the good ol' scared of a robber excuse or something... Or I can ask for directions if needs be, even if I do know them... No matter what, something's gotta work as an excuse, right? Yeah...This is for his safety. So...I have to. Sighing, she rang the doorbell and stayed still, quietly awaiting some sort of response, though fidgeting slightly due to a mixture of feeling a slight chill and anxiety meshing together.
Neer hear the doorbell ring and sighed. He paused his game and left to go open the door. When he opened it, he was surprised to see Flutter. "Flutter?...Hello again, come in." he said and let her come in. "What brings you here again? Or did you just want to talk some more?" he asked her. That was most likely the reason why she had come back. to talk some more about random things.
"Actually, I was on my way to the store and got lost, but... When I was asking someone for directions, they mentioned something about a nasty robber going around or something. I got sorta scared and since your house was the first one I recognized, I guess I just sorta ran to it on instinct...." Apparently, she was rather startled herself but only because she had managed to pass of that false fear so quickly, as though it had been true. Then again, she was a tad scared, even if for different reasons. "S-Sorry, I know it wasn't right of me necessarily, but... I-I didn't really know what to do and jumped on auto-pilot, I guess..."
Neer closed and locked the door once she entered. "A robber was seen here?"he asked her and began to tap his lips with his finger. "How odd...I didn't hear anything about a robber, I guess it was recent news that I didn't see or read." he said and looked at her. "That is pretty scary....it's a good thing it's still morning. I hope they catch the robber by nighttime. If they don't, I'm going to have trouble sleeping." he said and shuddered. He was getting a little scared now.
"I'm sorry for stopping by so suddenly, though... No matter what the reason, it isn't fair to you to be taken from what you were doing all the sudden just because I got scared and didn't know what to do." She gave a sincere smile. She did genuinely feel grateful for being allowed in, even if her reasoning was slightly peculiar, slightly being an understatement. "Thank you for allowing me, though... I'll try not to make a habit of it, of course."
"It's okay Flutter...you don't need a reason to come and visit. I never get visits, so it makes me happy to see you visit me at times. I wasn't doing anything important really, just playing a video game in my room." he said and walked to the kitchen. "Would you like to drink anything?" he asked her politely.
Somehow, his response had surprised her, thus causing little response for some time as she tried to think it over. Still, she had to admire his calm nature that he'd shown numerous times now- if only she had that! "Well thank you then, I suppose, but I really should at least give you warning more often...." She laughed a bit, but only to ease her own stressed nature. Shaking her head in response to his question, she smiled. "I'm hydrated enough for now, thank you though. I don't know much about 'video games' as many people point out... May I watch you play, perhaps? I don't know much about those things but they always sounded like fun."
"You can do what makes you comfortable I guess." he said and grabbed a water bottle for himself. "You want to watch me play? Okay then. I wonder if you'll like it...most girls don't like video games." he said and smiled at her. "Follow me then." he said and led her upstairs to his neat bedroom. His bed was a modern style bed with Ivory cream sheets. He had Mohagony dressers that matched the mohagony modern bed which was set horizontally. He sat on his bed and patted the spot next to him. Neer grabbed the controller and began to play.
"What is this one about? I hear a lot about the war ones in particular... My big brother used to love those." Alright, so it wasn't her brother that had, but it was someone who she did consider family that told her about it. It was also a common way of training on occasion for some at the headquarters. "I know it might sound strange for a girl, but I always thought those war games sounded sorta fun... Yep, definitely sounds strange for a girl."
"Well, this is exactly like the war games. The only difference is that your helmet covers your face, and you're wearing body armor and not some boring camo clothes." he said and chuckled. "It does sound a little strange, but it's okay. Not all girls are the same...we're all different. Some of us guys don't like these war games but like other types of fighting games." he said and shot someone on the head.
She giggled, smiling as she watched the shot. "Well, you seem to be very good at it. I wonder how different it is from being in a real battle-field though?" She couldn't help but watch in wonder with that in mind, however. As a fighter herself, even if she was frail and rather bad at moving quickly, she wanted to see just how similar it was to the battlefield she'd grown accustomed to. "Maybe I should get one of these sometimes. It really does look fun." She noticed an enemy in the screen that looked like it was hiding. "Oh. Careful about that bush to your left."
Neer smiled at her and shrugged. "If I was in a real battle field, I don't think I'll live that long..." he said and continued to shoot people. He quickly switched to a machine gun and shot at the bush killing a person. "Hey, thanks for the help flutter. It seems you're a good spotter." he said and continued to play. He soon reached a dark place and sighed. "I hate dark places..." he said shooting someone who had shot him. "It's harder to see where you're going and who's shooting you." he said.
"I dunno, you seem to know your way with weapons, though perhaps that's just in games." She giggled a bit in response, smiling. Looking around at the dark place curiously, she thought for a moment. "Dark places just mean you have to keep your guard higher, but there are sometimes little tricks in them too. From what I can tell, there's a pattern to where the people who've been shooting you hide." She smiled slyly, waiting for the next person. "If I'm right about the pattern, you should be careful for a shot from the right."
"True...it's just in games. I wouldn't know much about the guns in actual combat." he said and listened to her. "Okay...a shot from the right. I'm still going to get shot." he said and did, she was right! That surprised him and he quickly shot the man down. "How did you know that was going to happen?" he asked and reached a checkpoint. "Yes a checkpoint." he said. He didn't know how she managed to get that right...he never noticed a pattern.
"I notice patterns a lot. It's just another thing that makes me strange." She laughed a bit, smiling. "Actually, I'm not all that great at reading, but I was always really good with math. So when it came to anything mathematical or pattern-based, I could catch on in seconds. If it was language based... Well, then something like that I'd probably stare at for an hour and still be completely lost." She gave him a simple smile, then got confused. "What's a checkpoint?"
"Noticing patterns is never strange Flutter." he said. "Wow, Math was never my strong point." he said and laughed a little. He then listened to her question. "A checkpoint is a point in the game that once you reach it, it automatically saves your progress." he explained. "So it's very good to reach checkpoints throughout the game. They really do come in handy in case you die." he said and continued to play. He soon left the dark place and smiled. "Finally out of that dark place." he said.
"I guess that might be one of the main differences between a real battle and a battle in a game. No checkpoints in real life, are there?" She couldn't help but mentally wish there were. It wouldn't be as stressful then- but, that was life, right? "But the game doesn't seem to give all the aspects of a war. It only gives the battle and positioning portions of war from what I can see. Isn't there more to war then that?"
"That's right, no check point in an actual war." he said and paused the game. "Well the point of a war is to survive. You have to protect yourself and those that are assigned to follow you. You also have to heal the wounded and sometimes you have to camp out to get some sleep." he informed and thought for a while. "I can't think of more things that go on in a war..." he said.
