((Time to cause trouble via the reason she's there 8D))
Trying your best isn't enough on the battlefield, is it? If I only try my best and don't fight to the bitter end...Something bad could happen... She shook it off, a loud beeping coming from her pocket. She took out the phone, startled as she answered. "Hello? This is she." Barely from the other line, a voice was heard. Miss Major, keep your guard up. Radar picked up a strange lifeform near the household... "What?" She looked outside, not seeing it, but closing her eyes. "It's coming...So soon..." Her eyes opened when she saw it, causing her to close a blind. "Right. I'll be right out..." Hanging up, nervously, she looked to Neer. "Sorry...I have to head outside for a bit. I need to make sure to get some sunlight." I definitive lie, but it was all she could muster as she fled towards the door, adding, "You should rest for a while. I'm sure you have things you can do, right? I'll likely come back in a little while." She opened the door and fled outside, pulling a gun-like piece of equipment from her coat pocket. "Dang... You're bigger then I thought you'd be." A car pulled up to aid her as she began shooting at the strange creature, knowing well who'd sent it. |
Neer watched her get up and nodded. "Yeah...I have to check my Email actually." he said to her and watched her go. Quietly, Neer went over to his room where his laptop sat on the bed. He opened it and turned it on. Once it was on, Neer went over to his email and smiled as he noticed that he had gotten a response from his family. He yawned and began to type up a reply. This was the only way that he stayed connected to his family, but he didn't mind it. In fact, he actually liked this better than calling them.
"Tawlina. Try the L25!" Flutter called. However, she was not heard through the rampant cries of war- in the backyard of a home. "It's not in the database at all. What is that thing?"
"Wait! I found its week spot!" Someone called out before a final explosion sounded. Eventually, the beast was wrapped in tight ropes of some sort of metallic substance, and covered in some sort of liquid metal goo. "Haul it off to the lab. Make sure it's treated well though. We don't want any definitive casualties. We need to learn what we can." Flutter turned around, staring at the house. "Think he noticed?" "I don't know, Graile. I'm off to find out." She glanced to the other two. "Keep holding down the fort and keep me up to date. Make sure to be ready if I need back-up in this though." She ran ahead, knocking on the door again. Please don't get suspicious... |
Neer heard a knock in the door and went downstairs to the living room. He then opened the door and looked at Flutter. "Oh...hello Flutter...had enough fresh air?" he asked her and chuckled. "You know...you didn't have to knock again. I knew you would be coming back inside." he said to her. Neer then let her come back inside and smiled. "So...you want to come again tomorrow with a book that you would like to read?" he asked her.
She laughed a bit, scratching the back of her head. "My family usually locks the door when someone leaves no matter what, so I assumed that'd happen. My mistake!" She walked inside, a sigh of relief. He didn't notice anything...Thank goodness... "It was nice out, but I can only walk so much before my legs hurt. May I sit down?" A soft giggle escaped her as she thought. "Right, book. I'll bring it with me tomorrow...I have a good idea for something to learn first." She blushed. "I-It's embarrassing to admit that what I want to read is an old weapon manual, but...I do happen to like those..."
"I see...well, it's not your fault Flutter. You're used to that." he said to her and nodded. "Yes you may sit." he said and smiled to her warmly. "Flutter, you shouldn't get embarrassed about anything that you like to do. You're a unique person...everyone likes to read different things, and that's fine." he said to her. Neer usually read fictional books and occasionally he would read about mythology as well.
A sigh of relief escaped her as she took a seat once given permission. So far so good...He isn't suspicious at all... A smile graced her lips when she looked at him, her relief almost overwhelming her system. "Oh? What do you like to read then? Perhaps I should bring something along the lines you'd like to share with you as well." She tried to recall the file, but pushed the thought aside. It'd be better to hear from him. Though, did they have anything at the base besides war novels and weapon manuals?
Neer smiled and shrugged at her question. "I like Fictional books...and Mythoilogy books actually." he said and chuckled. "You don't have to bring a book that I like to read. Bring one that you like to read." he said to her in a kind manner. "Thanks though for offering." he said to her and smiled. He believed that Flutter was a very nice person and he was happy to have met her.
"I don't even know if we have general fiction or mythology books at home...I'd have to check. But it could be interesting. Fiction can be fun, though I never learned much to understand mythology." She laughed nervously. Big brother would have loved this guy for that part... "Is there any particular book you remember enjoying? Just out of curiosity, of course."
Neer listened to her and chuckled. "Mythology is a pretty hard subject to understand, but you'll understand it if you read it enough." he said to her and listened to her question. "I remember enjoying the Kite Runner. Probably the only book to make me cry." he said to her.
She looked at him with an excessively curious expression. "It made you cry? But why?" She put a finger to her chin, contemplating the possibilities. "I don't understand how...Reading a book can make you cry. It's fiction yes? So... How come it effects one so strongly? I don't understand that..." She looked at her feet, trying to analyze them as if for information. A book can make someone cry? Am I that strange that I can't understand it though?
"I knew it was fiction, but the wording was very strong and emotional. It made me cry....I never thought that a book would ever make me cry...I guess I was mistaken." he said to her. "I still have that book..." he said to her and sighed. "I haven't read it in a long time...but I still remember most parts of the book." he said to her.
"Maybe I should read it sometime. I could use a good cry..." She giggled slightly, still smiling to him even when he'd sighed, which worried her even slightly. "I don't cry often. I don't know why, but I don't- so something that could provoke that might be a good change for me." When she looked at him, she only moved her hand slightly as if trying to reach out, before quickly retracting.
Neer smiled. "Crying is actually good for you....it relieves any stress that you might have." he said to her. "Laughing is also good for you, it helps your blood flow through your body." he added gently. "Yeah, I could let you borrow it once I find it." he said to her and smiled.
"Take your time. It'd have to wait until I can read it myself anyway- otherwise you'll have to read it to me." She giggled playfully, tugging at some stray hair to calm it down. "Blood flow, huh?" Blood was the last thing she needed- she had so much that flowed in her naturally, many wondered how she was alive with her high blood pressure- let alone fighting. "So it's like exercise, right? If it helps blood flow well."
"Yes...it's like exercise...except, it doesn't hurt." he said to her and chuckled. "It will take time to find it. I have so many books...that it's hard to find a book you're looking for." he said to her.
She smiled a bit, thinking on it. "I can help you organize it sometime or something- the book collection, I mean. I'm actually really good with electronics and stuff, so I can help take inventory or something with some sort of tool..." She giggled a bit, realizing her wording felt rather monotonous in the way it went on. "Did that even make any sense?"
Neer listened to her and nodded. "That would be much appreciated..." he said to her amd smiled some softly. "We can do that whenever you come with your weapons manual you want to read." he said. "I'll teach you how to read and after a while, we can stop and you can help me organize the books in my bookshelf." he explained.
"Sounds like a plan. I haven't gotten to do much mechanical work lately, so it'll be fun for me anyway." A soft smile came to her face as she thought about it a bit. "Okay, so I'll make sure to bring my tools. But...You might have to help me with writing things out for it. I can do the electric and mechanical parts though. Kay?" Good. Now I have an excuse to take some of my work stuff with me...
Neer listened to her and nodded. "Sure thing. I'd be more than happy to help." he said to her and gave her a small smile in return. "I haven't done much work around here either, but I can't wait to start doing that. It will go by quickly, trust me." he said and chuckled. "Everything seems to go by faster when you're with someone than when you're alone." he explained.
"I suppose that is true. I find that at home, too. I'm alone a lot so I get tired more easily, because there isn't as much to do. But when someone's with me it's a lot easier to keep trying to do things." A small smile played her face again as she looked towards the ceiling for a moment. "To be honest I never thought about it...But it makes a lot of sense." A giggle escaped her as she looked at him with more sincerity than earlier on. "How'd you come up with those theories? They're really well thought out."
Neer listened to her and nodded in agreement. "True...I wonder why that happens..." he said and thought for a moment. "Probably because when you're with someone else, you're not so bored like when you're alone." he answered. "Well...things just seem to enter your head when you have nothing else to do." he explained and smiled. "I usually spend most of my time just thinking about things that enter my head in certain moments." he added.
"I do that too. Not always a bad thing, of course, but after a while some things are better left not in the mind." A smile managed to stay with her even as she thought about it. She could name a number of things that fit the category, but refused to speak of them at that moment. "Thinking isn't a bad thing otherwise though. It's good to look at possibilities in any situation, too."
"True....and that is why we talk a lot. Because everything we say was actually first just a thought in our heads. We just said it, because we thought it was important and that it should be heard." he said to her and smiled in return to her's.
Flutter giggled slightly, intrigued by the idea behind what he was saying. It was true, though- she could agree that most times, she thought about a situation before giving orders or going ahead into something. "That does make a lot of sense. I never thought of that before though."
