Aya stretched as she emerged from her den, her black-flecked silver coat glistening in the afternoon light. She yawned widely, showing off sharp canine teeth, before she stood up straight, her big ears flickering around, following little sounds. She started trotting over to the nearest pool to get a drink of water, completely calm in the wilderness.
Adrian grumbled to himself as he lay on his belly by a large pool of water, watching it. He and his partner were out here observing supernatural creatures, though he had yet to see any. All he'd seen were animals, and he was starting to get impatient. He had other things he could be doing with his time, after all.
He wasn't sure exactly what else he could be doing, but he knew there were other things besides lying in the mud in a somewhat swampy area looking for creatures that either didn't exist or weren't showing themselves. Barhopping would be better than this.

((gotta wait till i introduce mine, they need to be at a beach after all XD..I have an idea for it, no worries))
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~
Gavin grinned, looking up at the clouds and out at the trees, completely relaxed out here away from the city, the streets, the schools, everything. Seeing his disgruntled looking buddy,, the male laughed, flashing him a grin and a thumbs up. "No worries dude, even if we don't find anything, you gotta admit this is fun!" exclaimed the 22 year old. looking out in the distance.
Several minutes of screwing around and poking at Adrian's already tried nerves, Gavin stopped, seeing some fur passing by. As it approached the pool they were near, he held his buddy, grinning, holding his camera at the ready. "Look, a fox, doesn't seem too scared does she?" he whispered, smiling at the critter. Not wanting to scare it off, he remained perfectly still. For a moment, all was quiet, but something seemed..odd. Now that Gavin thought about it, what fox had a silver coat with black like that? Sure, silver referred to a light grey, but still, this looked more than just grey silver, this was a little more unique a color. what on earth kind of fox was that? he was sure none like that lived anywhere near their hometown.
Adrian nearly groaned at Gavin's wheedling. When he saw the fox he snorted. "No kidding," he muttered. "Walking around as if it owns the place."
Aya paused and looked at the two humans before she snorted delicately and crouched down to get a drink from the pool. She took her time, and when she was done she stepped further into the water, taking a quick bath and rolling around to get herself wet all over before she stood up straight and shook herself out. Then she turned and trotted off to go find some food.
"Dude, that fox is acting weird," Adrian muttered, watching her go.
Watching in facination, Gain felt his heart speed up. This was cool! It was so close, and now he was taking pictures without a care. As she trotted off, he nodded at his friend, sitting up.
"Dude, forget that, what kind of fox is silver? Have you ever heard of a coat that looks, well, not like light grey, but almost full on silver? That's not natural. I'd think it was a prank or a spraypaint job but....no, who would waste their time with that, the fox would be sick from the chemicals, and the fur would not be smooth and sleek. I'm checking it out."
Getting up, he tried to be quiet and hide his haste, popping a beef jerkey stick from his bag into his mouth, chewing on the treat. Padding after the odd little fox, he didn't even look to see if Adrian was following.
Adrian growled to himself as he grabbed the other bag and the rest of the equiptment, taking it with him as he headed after Gavin at a much slower pace. Why had he volunteered to do this again? Oh yeah. He'd thought it would be fun.
And it probably was, compared to the other projects. But still.
He grumbled a little as he followed Gavin, letting the other get farther ahead and closer to the fox. He was louder, carrying all the equiptment, and much as he grumbled he didn't want to scare the fox off either.
Aya sank into a low crouch when she saw a rabbit. She moved forward slowly, keeping low to the ground and hiding in the shadows of the tall grass. When she deemed herself close enough, she leapt out and sprang at the rabbit, landing on it in a pounce. She grabbed its neck and bit down, shaking it around a little to make sure it was dead. Then she pranced off to find somewhere to curl up and eat her meal.
Scrambling to keep up, it was hard to stay quiet and in control of his feet. Gavin finaly tripped, slipping on a thick patch of moss and twigs, sending his arm's flailing and his body crashing to the forest floor. "Aghhhhh!" he hollered, falling down a little mound or hill and falling on his face.
Luckily, his camera had been safely tucked in his bag and it's little case and was unharmed and unscratched. Gavin was not quite as well off.
Spitting leaves out of his mouth, the male propped himself back up, groaning. "Unnghh....ow....not..cool." blinking, he noticed half of his jerky was on the ground, all there for the forest critters. "Awwww, snackies!" he pouted pathetically, before looking around for the fox. He had landed right by a den, a small one, but a den none the less.
"Hello?" he asked stupidly, forgetting it was a fox, it couldn't understand him.
Adrian paused when he saw Gavin go sliding down a hill. "Gavin?" he called, looking around. He couldn't see his friend anywhere, and he cursed as he made his way much more carefully over to the hill.
"Gavin?"
The fox looked up from her meal, having been sitting a little ways away from her den so her den wouldn't get dirty. She had puffs of rabbit fur around her mouth, and she spat some more out as she looked over at the clumsy human near her den. She cocked her head to the side for a moment before a delicious scent reached her nose.
Aya followed the scent, moving closer to the human, and found some of the jerky on the ground. She sniffed at it for a few moments before she ate a piece, grabbing it and darting back to her kill so no one could steal the jerky from her.
Gavin assumed he probably should assure his friend he was ok, but to shout and holler back mkight frighten the little fox before him. Eyes wide and slack jawed with awe, he watched her intently, grinning like an idiot soon. "Pretty little fox..." he breathed. Feeing her snatch some jerky, he chuckled as she darted off, holding the treat protectively as she did her kill.
"Haha, you're funny! They're good though huh?"
Sitting up slowly, he picked up the other fallen pieces of dried, smoked meat, brushing off any debri before holding them out, a hopeful smile on his face.
"Want some little girl? I won't hurt you.." he said in what he hoped was a reassurring tone.
Adrian growled and left him alone, going back to the nearest lake and sitting on the shore with a grump. He was going to sit and wait for Gavin to come back. He assumed his friend was okay, since he couldn't hear any groaning or complaining from the bottom of the hill, and he hadn't seen any blood spattered all over. So he sat down to wait.
Aya ate her piece of jerky before she sniffed around to see if there were any more. Her eyes landed on the pieces in Gavin's hand, and she inched forward cautiously, wary of humans since she'd been hurt by one before. She growled a little at him, trying to see if she could get him to drop it so she could grab the jerky and hide. Her ears stayed upright, alert, almost playful as she growled at him, lowering her body a little as she slunk forward.
Gavin smiled, estatic the silver fox was coming to him. It made him grin and chuckle that she was trying to be tough and make him run or drop the treat, or likely both. "No no pretty foxie...You gotta come get it, it'll get dirty on the ground. " he cooed softly, shifting from his sitting.kneeling position to lie on his stomach, holding out the jerky to her.
"C'mon, I won't hurt you." he promised softly, hoping Adrian wouldn't be too angry with him for making him wait. Oh well, he'd make it up to him, by a trip to the beach! yeah...skimboarding or just splashing in the waves, that was fun.
Aya looked at him for several long moments before she slunk forward and grabbed another piece of jerky from his hand, quickly leaping a few feet away from him again to eat that piece. She tore off a smaller chunk, chewing the dried meat for a few moments before she swallowed it, eating the rest of the strip in one gulp. She licked her lips, her eyes going back to the rest of the jerky in his hand.
She creapt forward again, more confident this time, though she still watched him warily. She grabbed a piece from his hand and retreated only a little ways this time.
Gavin was positively beaming, delerious with joy as the fox nibbled the treat it took directly from his hand. So far so good, so long as he didn''t make any sudden moves or giver her any reason to distrust him.
"There's a good girl, c'mon, it's all yours, I still have mine." he mumbled, smiling happily at his current furry companion. Such a pretty fox. He longed to touch that sleek fur, but to try and do so would completely ruin the progress he made so far. So, with great difficulty, he stayed perfectly still and patient, hoping she'd soon trust him, just a bit.
Aya took another piece from his hand, moving only a few inches back to eat the jerky. She watched him, though not as carefully as before. He'd been nice to her so far, and he'd given her tasty food. She kind of liked him, this silly human who was trying so hard to be good and still and not frighten her. She let her lips part in a foxy grin before she licked the back of his hand once in thanks.
Gavin was positively on cloud nine. The fox just licked his hand! Smiling and grinning like a first class fool, he tried not to let his excitement get the best of him. "C-can I feel your fur?" he asked, only to slap his head. Of course, that was a stupid question. Why would a fox understand a word he said? Fox's didn't talk! Looking a bit crestfallen, he would just have to use tone to explain his feelings and his intentions. "Pretty fox." he murmured.
Aya tilted her head to the side, observing him for a few moments, before she daintily took another piece of jerky from his hand, the last piece, and settled down in front of him to eat it. Her shoulder brushed against his hand, a few of the black-flecked silver strands of fur staying behind, clinging to his skin. She remained oblivious, enjoying eating the jerky too much.
Unable to resist the startlingly beautiful black flecked silver locks, he slowly inched his hand out as she ate, placing his hand on her back n a feather light touch, not applying anymore pressure lest he frighten the poor thing. Gavin marvled at the smooth, silky softness of the fur. "Wow..."
Aya lifted her head a little to look at him before she finished her delicious snack and yawned widely. Then she settled down where she was, letting him pet her as she watched him with eyes too bright and too intelligent to be strictly animal. Her ears perked up when she heard yelling and she raised her head.
"Gavin! Hurry up and get back up here!" Adrian yelled. "I don't care if you found the fricken' Holy Grail down there! We need to go!" He was fuming, his hands on his hips as he waited impatiently.
Gavin was beaming happily when he sighed. Adrian had hit his limit, and nothing he said would keep him any longer now. "Coming!" he hollered back, slinging his bag over his shoulder and straghtening himself out. Looking at the fox, he crouched before her, petting the silken fur before nearly jerking back. Such an intense, knowing look. What a truly unique animal.
"Hey, I know you can't understand me, but, wanna come hang out or come with me? You won't have to work for food or drink dirty water, and, you won't have any predators or hunters!" He held open his arms, hoping Adrian wouldn't ditch him, he had done it before.
Aya looked at him for a moment before she snorted delicately. She shook herself once before she got up and stretched, taking her time. Then she trotted around him and started up the hill. Half-way up she turned and looked at him, yipping once as if to demand why he wasn't following her yet.
Shaking her head a little at the silly human, she climbed the rest of the way up the hill and sat at the top, looking at Adrian with intense blue eyes.
Adrian looked at the fox, startled into silence by her gaze. He shifted a little, the fox's attention staying focused on him with an unsettling intensity.
"Gavin?" He couldn't see his friend, though he'd heard him call back. But now he was unnerved, unsettled by the fox sitting before him.
Amazed and not about to lose her now, Gavin shook himself free of shock and disbelief, as much as he could anyway, and scrambled up the hill, clamoring after the fluffy, intelligent fox.
"H-hey wait up!" he cried, hiking himself and his backpack back up the hill, almost not toticing Adrian till he followed the fox's gaze, smiling as he saw his buddy. "Hey Adrian, ready to go?" he puffed, grinning and looking like he was having the time of his life.
"Sure," Adrian said cautiously, still eyeing the fox. "What's up with the fox? Are you, like, adopting her or something?" He was sure Gavin was too enamored to see it, but there was something majorly disturbing about that animal.
Aya snorted and started walking over to Adrian, her fur partially poofed up to make herself look larger and more threatening. Gavin she liked; Adrian she did not. Not really anyway.
Watching the little silver ball of fur, Gavin smiled and laughed at her antics, getting down on one knee and offering both arms in a open hug gesture. "C'mon pretty girl, I'll not let the scowling man hurt ya." he declared, patting his knee for her to come.
Looking up, he nodded, still cheerful as ever. "Well, if she wants to come, then yup! I'd love to have a fox running around, much more interesting than a dog I'd think." Finally taking in his friend, he waved his hand in a reassurring manner. "Now now, I know you're mad at me dude, but I'll make it up to you. A trip to the beach, how bout that? I know this great spot where not many go, it's a bit away from the main beach, but it's so much nicer!"
Aya let out another high-pitched yip, turning and ging over to Gavin. She sat down in front of him and peered up at him curiously, her head cocked to the side. This human certainly was silly. She rather liked him. She still didn't trust him, sure, but if he tried anything she could easily outrun him.
Adrian wavered for a moment before he gave in. "Alright," he agreed. "Let's go." He scowled playfully at Gavin. "But I'm not helping you with that furball."
Turning away, he started to hike back to the car. The beach was his weakness; he loved to go there, went every time he had a chance. It was just so quiet and peaceful sometimes, and it helped him think. Gavin knew about that, probably why he'd offered to go to the beach.
Gavin grinned, delighted the fox actually came to him. Holding out a hand for her to sniff, he slowly and gently pet her furry head in affection, beaming in excitement. "Isn't she so pretty!" he gushed, smiling at the little furry companion he had somehow aquired.
As Adrian gave in- - as Gavin knew he would, he nodded, smiling. "No worries, I'll take care of her. And she's not a furball! she's a cute little foxy, who happens to curl up into an adorable ball of fuzz!"
Walking back to the car, he smiled at the small silver fox, hoping she wanted to come. He wouldn't force her to leave her home if she didn't want to, no, that wouldn't be right. "Wanna come?"
As they approached the vehicle, he turned to his buddy. "So, wanna go home and change, or just go as we are with whatever crap and clothes we stuffed in the car? I know we have towels, but other than that it's a mystery. Oh, and shall we get some grub on the way? a snack or something?"
Aya trotted along next to Gavin, looking around curiously. She'd been to a few different places, but she generally stayed away from humans. There was something about this one, though. He seemed more trustworthy than most. She'd give him a chance.
"I packed up swimming stuff, in case we decided to go," Adrian said. "Or, in case I decided to go and let you run around like a maniac." He shot his friend a little grin. "So we have towels and swimsuits and everything."
He unlocked his car, since they were using his Honda Accord, and opened the trunk to put all the camera stuff away. "Yeah, Chinese sounds good. We can get it to go and eat on the beach. Sound good to you?"
He opened his door and slid into the car, letting Gavin finish up putting things away.
Aya eyed the car with caution. She'd never seen one before, and she didn't know what it was. Her ears perked up a bit when things started opening and Adrian got in. She whined, a low confused sound.
