It was Carrie who noticed it first – or rather sensed it, with that curious canine sixth sense. The four-legged ball of fur raised her head from her paws, ears perked up, and bounded over to the door to bark at something behind it.

“Hush.” Ivy came down the hallway, dressed in a casual off-shoulder blouse and snug grey jeans. She reached down and gave the dog a quick scratch behind the ears and once the barking quieted, she heard it too; the low, rumbling sound of an engine. Sure enough, a black Porsche came into view as it pulled to a stop outside the house. No sooner had she seen it arrive than the doorbell rang. She jumped a bit from the sudden sound. And the barking started again, this time with a fiercely offensive undertone.

Ivy opened the door just wide enough for her to get through, stepped out and closed it again hurriedly. When she looked up, her eyes locked with very amused grey ones. Charles was her best friend and ever since she moved into this little town, he had been showing her around, introducing her to people and being a good friend in general. He was kind, intelligent, and ridiculously attractive but for some reason every living creature that wasn’t human either feared him or hated him. Just throw him in a zoo and watch the chaos unfold.

“Carrie doesn’t like you very much.”

“That sounds like an understatement,” he chuckled. He started back to his car; Ivy followed.

"And you've got to stop doing that!" She figured this should be said with a serious tone, but she couldn't help smiling a little bit when Charles blinked at her with that sincerely confused 'what did I do' look. "You know exactly what I mean! That.. that popping out of nowhere ninja thing! My poor heart can't take it."

"Oh is that what it is." He grinned. "Okay, I'll try."

Apparently, "popping out of nowhere" and getting from one place to another really really fast were two different concepts. Once they were both in the car, seatbelts barely buckled, it was one hell of a heart-stopping ride. They could have run over something and not noticed. The noisy vehicle finally slowed down after entering school grounds and it slid neatly into an empty parking space.

"Here we aaare. Off you go kid, you're an hour late for your first class."

"What?!"

"Nevermind, my watch is off. We actually have fifteen minutes to play."

Ivy laughed, rolling her eyes very subtly. 'Play' in Charles's book was basically a synonym for mingling, flirting, and picking up pretty girls. It looked like the next fifteen minutes for her would consist of exploring the school and getting herself oriented.

((wow, you sure like putting in a lot of paragraphs and sorry for not replying shortly! I've been really busy! O__o))

Drew sighed as he looked at Karen, his sister, with a look that said you have got to stop doing that.

"I know! But come on, it's cute right?" Karen asked her one friend. Then Karen glanced back at Drew and lost her grin.

"It's about time for class," Drew said in a blank tone as he motioned for everyone to follow him into the school.

Once he caught sight of Charles, he locked eyes with him as a low grumble erupted from his throat. Almost like a growl.

(( No worries. And it's usually just the first post that's the massive one. XD Then I try to match my partner's from there. ))

For a brief moment, Ivy saw her friend tense up. She wanted to ask him if something was wrong, but then decided to let it pass. Maybe it was just her imagination.

"I'll walk you to class." His voice sounded a bit more serious compared to before. "You don't have much sense of direction."

"As nice as that-- hey, what's with the sudden insult!" She pouted and jabbed Charles in the ribs. He loosened up a little and uttered a quick "sorry."

"Anyway, as I was saying... It's nice of you to offer, but I don't want to drown in your fanclub just yet. I'm too young to die." She meant it as a joke, of course, but the comment had a strange effect on Charles. He caught himself quickly and shook it off.

"Alright. Just be careful."

Once they reached the school building, Ivy stopped by the rows of lockers to look for hers while Charles continued on his way further down the hall.

After Charles had left and Drew found his locker, he said for his group to go find theirs. Then he turned around and saw someone else, who was the only one, besides him, in that hall. She was breath-takingly beautiful but when he sensed how beautiful and perfect her soul was, his mouth began to water. He shook his head and placed his books in his locker and slammed it shut as he hurried off to find his group again.

Ivy found her locker. It was in a decent condition and situated next to a water fountain. A few meters away where the next row of lockers started was a fire extinguisher. It was... convenient. She opened her locker and placed her belongings inside, save for one book which she needed for her first class. As she was putting away the last of her things, she saw another student out of the corner of her eye, right across the empty hall. But before she could turn around to say hi, or even have a proper look at him, she heard a slam -- and he was off again. She let out a small sigh, shoulders heaving slightly as she did so, and shifted her focus to set her locker combination. With that done, she headed to her first class.
