A teenage girl visits her mother who lives in a beach house on island. She soon finds herself being more and more attracted to the sea. She meets a young man who is becomes her friend. When the summer comes to an end she realizes she's in love with him but he says he can't be. She comes back three years later to move into the now empty beach house, because her mother died. She mets him again and this time he needs her help. His parents are the queen and king of the sea and they want him to marry someone he dislikes. The two fall in love and she trys to keep him hidden away from the sea.

Amelie

Age: 19

Personality: She's calm and mellow and most of the time emotionless. She can be rude and cold towards people. She loves nature and animals.

Looks: Shoulder length baby pink hair with bangs that cover her eyes. She's slim with pale skin. She normally wears only pink and black with lots of lace.

Background:Amelie lost her mother due to cancer and inherited her old Victorian beach house. Her father left them over ten years ago and doesn't know how to act around men. After suffering from the loss of her only family member she became cold towards others.

Extra: She owns a small white cat that follows her everywhere. She always were a black ribbon around her neck, it was the last thing her father gave her.

Age: Unknown

Personality: Uptight, being a Prince and all. Also, kinda rude. Distracted but caring.

Looks: Long blond hair with brown highlights. He keeps it braided down his back. Light green eyes flecked with gold. Slim yet muscular. He doesn't come on land very much if at all so he's usually naked from the waist up. Below that is his tail, which is a dark red streaked with gold.

Background: He's the Prince of the underwater sea kingdom so he has a lot of responsibility. His mother was killed by a human so his father despises all land-dwelling people. He has only one younger brother and three sisters.

Extra: He almost never wears his crown but is never without the gold medallion his mother gave him before she died.

Amelie leaned against her old light blue truck. Her arms crossed over her chest. She wore a simple black dress. She hadn't known her mother very well, in fact she rarely was able to sit down and just talk to her. She hadn't know how bad her cancer was until the last month. This was her chance to renew her life.

Amelie had just finished moving into her mother's Victorian beach house. The only beach house near the ocean. Her eye skimmed over the rough surface of the ocean. The sound of the waves roaring made her feel calm and secure.

She had only stayed at the house once before. She could never forget that summer.

The waves of the ocean swept across his bare chest as he paddled closer to shore. The sun was high in the sky but the salt water kept his skin from drying out too much. It'd been a while since he'd been on shore but the young merman had to get away. There was just too much going on at home right now. Alri's thoughts turned to that wonderful summer all those years ago as the shore line got closer.

She let out a sigh, watching the moving van drive away. This was all her's now. The house that had always haunted her memories. She locked her truck and sat on the front porch. She gently placed her hand on the worn out blue paint of the house. She started to hum a soft tune, the same tune her mother had sung so many years ago.

The sudden urge to swim swept through her mind. She walked off the porch, only to bump into a older woman. "So it's true...Someone did move in." Amelie nodded. "Yeah, it was my mom's house." The older woman nodded. "You should sell it. This beach is cursed." Amelie glanced around. The beach had litter all over it. "No thanks." She ignored the woman and kept walking towards the beach.

Alri sat on the beach, waiting until for his tail to transform into legs. Of course, that would only happen once his skin dried...and that would probably take a while considering he was sitting under a large cliff-like area.

Amelie had planned to enjoy the beach but it was too trashed to even think about enjoying it. She had started to clean it, putting everything she could into a small pile. The water was too tempting so she wadded into it. The cold water splashed up against her thin legs, causing her to shiver.

"Who could not love the beach? Cursed...yeah right." She mumbled.

The sound of a female voice startled Alri and caused him to quickly dived back into the water. A few seconds later, when his head broke the surface, he saw a female wadding out into the water. The strangest feeling ran through him; a feeling of familiarity... like he'd met this girl somewhere before.

Her pink hair fluttered around her. She moved her bangs out of the way to watch a small fish swim by. She leaned down, careful not to get her dress wet. " I've missed this place." She whispered, picking a shell out of the water and holding it up to see. When she was done and gently set it back in the water.

Curiosity getting the better of him, Alri swam a bit closer. He had transformed back so he made sure to keep his tail all the way in the water. The last thing he needed was so mortal getting a look at him and freaking out.

The distant scream of some seagulls startled her. She wrapped her arms around herself and started back towards the shore. "This place sure does still give me the creeps." She made it back to shore and decided to go into town, to look for that one familiar face.

Sighing, Alri dove back into the ocean and headed home. He passed a few mer-people and they hailed him. Ignoring them, he mentally steered himself for the inevitable fight with his father.

"Alri, where have you been?" The King demanded, seeing his disobedient son swim into the throne room.

"I...went out." He replied, crossing his arms across his chest and staring coldly at his father.

"You do not talk to me like that. I am your father."

"I refuse to marry her, Father. And there is nothing you can do to convince me otherwise."

"Gerridila is of a good family. She's beautiful, well-bred..." The elderly King started.

"And she's about as smart as a lump of coral." Alri argued. "I refuse to marry someone who thinks Atlantis is another planet."

The elderly King grew red in the face. "I am still the King here and you will do as I say!!"

Not answering his father, Alri turned and swam out. He was so frustrated with his father right now. He would under no circumstances marry that stupid girl! If he ever did marry, he would marry someone not only beautiful but smart as well.

Amelie had gone through most of the town, no seeing the person she had wanted to. She came back with a few things, feeling more alone than ever. She came home to put the things away and clean up a bit. She was going through her mother's old clothes and found a light pink dress and changed into it.

She now sat on the porch, a tea cup in one hand and a old novel in the other. "No wonder why these books were packed away. They suck." She let the old romance novel drop to the ground. She sipped her tea quietly thinking of him.

she had met him on a whim. It was a bright cheerful day and once again her mother had to work, leaving her alone at the beach. they had become friends fast but when she left...she never stopped thinking of him.

Alri now sat, once again, on the beach under a cliff. He couldn't help but think of the girl he'd met years back. Now...she was a girl worth marrying. She was only a child then but she'd still had a mind of her own. She hadn't let anyone tell her what to do or how to live her live. He envied her in that respect. He'd always wanted a life like that...one free from Royal responsibilities; a life where he was free.

Sighing, he heaved himself to his feet. He wobbled a bit; it'd been a while since he'd last used his land legs. But after only a few minutes, he became accustomed to them once more. Slowly, he headed up the beach. The beach had become more littered since he was up here last. It was amazing how much trash people threw into the ocean. Alri supposed his father was just giving them their trash back; after all, it didn't belong in the ocean.

Amelie stood, her cat at her ankles. She had a large black bag with her to collect the garbage. If she was going to live here there was no way she was going to allow it to be so trashed. She began to stuff pieces of the trash into the bag, her white cat following her as she went along.

She paused, scooping her pink hair into a ponytail. By the time she was done the beach look much better. She had always wanted to plant a garden now she could. Since no one came down there much it would be perfect. She paused, seeing someone. "Hey, do you know who did all this?" She placed her hands on her hips, frowning.

Alri froze. He hadn't expected to see this same girl again. "Um, no. I don't." He flashed her a crooked smile. "I guess you could say I'm new to the area."

"Me too. Well sorta. Just moved in to my mom's old house." She said, flipping her bangs back to get a better view at the guy. She smiled and looked down, her cheeks slightly red. "You look familiar, do I know you?"

Alri frowned, tilting his head. "I...don't know. You do seem oddly familiar to me. But I haven't been here in ages."

"If you don't mind me asking...What's your name?" Her heart racing like a wild horse. There was no way he could him it had been so long ago and surely he moved away from the island. She frowned, looking down.
