Elena backed up some, as Stefan reacted, she should have took Bonnie's warning and stayed away from them. She raised a hand to her neck, and felt blood still dripping from it. She didn't bother responding to what Damon said, but instead walked past both of them and towards her car, she couldn't deal with this. They were vampires killers, she couldn't around them what was she thinking.

The next couple of weeks when Damon and Stefan didn't see Elena at all had been horrible. Stefan and Damon kept getting into fights and the peace that Elena tried to put between them melted away instantly. Only this time, the war between the two became worse than it had been for some hundred years.
One evening, when Stefan was out hunting animals for blood, Damon, decided to try to come to mends with Elena. So he went to her house and knocked on the door, hoping that she would answer. |
Elena put down the knife she was currently using to chop up some food, and walked over to the door and opened it. She looked up and stared at Damon, she wasn't sure what to do, closing the door on him probably wouldn't work "What are you doing here?" She asked a bit coldly, making it clear she didn't wish to see him. She felt scared of him, like he was going to hurt her or something and that was a feeling she didn't like at all, after all she had thought he was such a nice guy and they could have been good friends or even more than that but now it seemed impossible.

Damon saw the fear and hate in Elena's eyes and that really hurt, even though he was dead. "Elena, I'm sorry for what I did last time," he said, thinking about using his magic on her to let him in. "Look, if it makes you feel better, Holy Water burns, We're afraid of Garlic, and without our rings," he started as he showed her the ring on his finger. "we'd burn up in the sun just like in the movies," he told her, hoping that would win her trust. If it didn't, then he actually WOULD have to use his magic on her.

Elena stared at him and narrowed her eyes "Your lying, I've seen Stefan eat garlic before" She said with a glare. She didn't like the fact he was lying to her, that set her off even more "Just, leave me alone okay?" He asked. This certainly wasn't the way to gain her trust again, in fact she didn't even think there was anyway he could gain it to start with "You know what the sad thing is?" She asked as she looked up at him and then looked away 'I actually thought you were a good person, and I really liked you as a person, guess I was fooled" She said

"As long as we have our ring on we're immune to those things. Look, do you want me to take this ring off?" he asked as he slipped out a vile of Holy Water he carried around in case another blow from Stefan. He put out his hand for her to see as he then poured the contents of the vile onto his skin and he cringed at the pain of the sting as smoke rose from his bubbling skin.
"What," he asked her, wandering how she was going to answer her own question. |
Elena rolled her eyes some "Like that proves anything, doesn't mean you won't say kill me" She said seriously. So he could be hurt but who the hell carried holy water around with them, she certainly didn't.

Damon then narrowed his eyes onto hers as he then conjured up his magic. "You will let me in," he said. He needed to settle this thing once and for all.

Elena stared at him "No I won't" She said firmly. "You can go do whatever you want, just don't involve me in it, and you know what stay away from me for that matter, I can't believe I thought you were a good person, demanding me to do things, if you really wanted me to trust you, you WOULDN'T Demand anything of me" She said

Shock ran through Damon as she spoke those words. Then his eyes traveled down to the necklace. I am, for sure, going to kill Stefan the next chance I get, he thought as anger ran thought him as his eyes went back up to her eyes. "How can you trust me at all even if I don't demand anything from you? My trust is ruined anyways," he said as he shook his head, accepting denial as he turned around to stalk after his brother to finally end his brother. |
Elena sighed as she looked at him "You ask for forgiveness Damon you don't demand it from someone" She said. Truth was she had talked to Stefan over the past few weeks she had been avoiding him, and she wasn't nearly as bad as his brother, in fact he had been right about him all along "I really thought we could be friends you know, I honestly liked you, but your showing me a side of you I didn't see that night even when you bit me" She said

"You wanted to know more about me, so there," he said as his back was to her. "And by the way, I'm not a good person, Elena, take that as a warning," he told her before he disappeared.

"It's not the fact your a bad person that bothers me" She said. She could get over everything about him, if he didn't treat her the way he did, she could grow to trust him and be friends with him, if he started to show her a side of him she could trust. She really didn't like the idea of being angry at him, or fighting with him, he hadn't really done anything wrong he couldn't avoid his natural instincts and he hadn't killed her which meant a lot really.

Damon stopped and slowly turned around to look at her just as he was at the edge of her property. He searched his feelings and blurted words out he hadn't said for over a hundred years. "I'm sorry...okay?" he said in an earnest and hurt tone as he then turned around to finally go get his brother to finish.

Elena sighed and looked at him "If I invite you in, do you swear you won't touch me?" She asked. She felt like him saying sorry, was heartfelt and like he really meant it, but she was still a little weary of him, she wasn't sure what to think really, there was a lot running through her head, but she wanted to at least attempt to talk things out with him.

Damon turned back around to her and sighed. He didn't think that saying sorry would work, but it did. At that moment, he felt something run through him. He think it was love. He looked up at her. "I promise," he said earnestly as he slowly began to walk up to her steps.

Elena looked at him "Don't make me regret this Damon, I'm serious I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt" She said as she watched him get closer, once he reached the door she looked at him for a split second before she stepped out of the way "Come in" She said. She was hoping she wasn't going to regret this, but something about him drew her to him, something powerful, and she wasn't sure what it was.

Damon shook his head. "The only thing worth regretting is letting you find out that some fairytale's are true no matter how horrid they are," he said softly with an earnestly soft expression ((since Damon isn't really a good character, I want him to seem he's truthful only for Elena, so I say 'earnest(ly)' a lot...)) as he walked up the steps and passed Elena through the doorway when she had told him to come it. When he was inside, he looked around and nodded his head slowly. "I like your house. It's small and cozy," he said to brighten up the moment.

"Vampires aren't from fairytales, there more like nightmare stories" She said as she closed the door behind him. And glanced at him "Anyway I was making something to eat, so we can talk in the kitchen" She said as she walked towards the kitchen expecting him to follow after. Once she reached the kitchen she went back to what she was doing, which was cutting up some vegetables "What do you want to talk about?" She asked

Damon sighed and shrugged his shoulders. "I just came to say I was sorry and I wanted to see if you could forgive me. And if I were you, I'd keep that necklace on or you'd be mind-controlled by someone such as Stefan or me," he warned her in a voice that was just above a whisper.

"Don't think this the wrong way, but I think you mean you and not Stefan" She said as she looked up at him. "Give me one good reason as to why I should forgive you" She said. She wanted to see what he could come up with, if his reasoning was good enough she could find it in her to forgive him.

"Don't think I don't know what Stefan thinks about when you're around," Damon told her in a stern voice. Then his face softened up when she asked him for one good reason why she should forgive him. He knew that this was the only time he could truly tell her what he wanted to tell her. So he sighed and gave her such a look that was sad, earnest, and pained...not something a Vampire should usually feel. He closed his eyes and finally spoke. "Because. I. Am. In love...with you," he told her. A moment later, he opened his eyes to see her reaction to his words.

Elena looked at him and waited for his answer, the expression alone on his face made her want to forgive him, but she wasn't going to make it that easy on him. He had in a sense betrayed her, even though they hadn't spent a lot of time together, she sort of trusted him, and he had did that. "You've meet me like twice how can you say you love me, you don't even know me" She said as she stared at him. Although the sound of it alone sounded nice, but she wasn't sure if she should really believe him.

Damon gave her a small soft smile. "You don't need to know someone a certain amount of time to love them," he told her.

"I don't believe in love at first sight, or second Damon" She said with a sigh "Fine if you love me, tell me why?" She asked
