Bio: Derrick has been teaching all different grades of English for five years now. Kids love his classes being that he seems to make their classes funny and worth wanting to listen to. Once you get to know him, you will find someone who's kind, caring, understanding, listening, and will always be willing to follow through to his promises. But watch out, he's strong when it comes to a missing homework assignment or passing notes in class. Talk in class, he'll only give you a warning at first.

Derrick took a sip of his hot coffee as he stood at the end of the hall with his two friends who taught Math and History. All three of them watched as the students entered the hall, talked to each other, accidentally drop something...it was entertaining.

Then his eyes caught onto someone quite familiar and actually his student. He watched her for a little bit but then tore his eyes away in fear of the other teachers seeing.

Age: 17
Bio: Serenity Reynold's, a senior with a great passion for sports, arts and English. This popular girl is sweet, smart and sensible. She has a natural compassion for living things, she loves to help out others in need and be there when her friends need to talk to her. She loves to sing and act, she may seem shy but once she starts talking she isn't willing to shut up. She often gets into trouble for talking despite being a model student. Serenity loves to enjoy life to its fullest and sometimes she is a rebel despite her soft features.

Serenity walked happily into the school, surrounded by a crowd like usual. She giggled and chatted away with her best friend Yumiko, there was not a secret that those two girls didn't know about each other, except for one. Her eyes scanned the hallway for some one, when Yumiko asked her who she was looking for Serenity waved it off with a quiet no one. But her heart knew who she was looking for, him, her English teacher.

She sighed as she saw his frame, blushing she quickly looked away indulging in giggling with her friends once more. She was sad, this was her last year in this school. She was going to miss him, she had been in Mr. Patting's class since Gr. 10 and she loved his classes. The way he taught, everything about him was well..fun!

Derrick smiled when he saw Serenity's beautiful lilac eyes catch his gaze. When he looked away, the warning bell rang and he headed to his first period class. "See you guys later," he said to his friends as he walked into his class room and watched the student's file into his new Senior English class. He was kind of glad that this was their last year. He was ready for new Seniors to have to be responsible.

"Alright, Seniors...welcome to my English class. For those of you who don't know me, which I doubt no one does, but my name is Mr. Patting," he said as he got up and began to pass out the usual student hand books.

Serenity hurried when the bell ran, the girl had a near perfect record and she was seldom late. But she definetly wanted a good impression, she hurried and sat herself beside Yumiko. Both the girls were in the middle row and she had a view of Mr. Patting's desk, she blushed slightly when she saw him. She was glad to be in his class first period, she loved English and no doubt about it she definetly liked to fawn over Mr. Derrick Patting.

Serenity listened to him as he talked, she saw he was making his way up and down the isles and handing out the usual student handbook which they got at the beginning of every year in every class to tell them their curriculum that year. She hoped some good novels would be in their curriculum this year.

Derrek looked down at Serentiy and gave her a smile as he handed her the hand book and read her expression. "This year, we will be reading Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Scribbler of Dreams by Marie E. Pearson, All of the Above by Shelley Pearsal, and Shiver by Maggie Stefvater for all you werewolf lovers out there. Do know that in my class, if you miss any assignments or homework, you'll get a zero. And we all know what happens when we get a zero. Our letter grade drops down," he said.

After he took attendance, he sighed. "Alright we'll go over some more things tomorrow. For the remaining period...go ahead and talk," he told them.

Her heart seemed to deliberately stop and skip a beat when her hands brushed his finger as he handed her the book. Serenity dropped her gaze and pretended to read the booklet while her cheeks flamed on, she didn't realize it but she was almost hyperventilating. Her heart beat had gotten faster, 'Oh god, please open up a hole and swallow my desk!' she thought desperately to herself.

Her ears perked up when she heard the names Romeo and Juliet, she had also read All of the Above it was a nice book, but the other two she would just have to read them and find out. When he said they could talk for the rest of the period she turned her face to Yumiko and started chattering away, with a few occasional glances and the handsome teacher.

Derrik's heart hurried up when he felt Serenity's fingers brushed against his. It wasn't much, but it was just enough to thrill him by her touch. He hated how he was deeply crushing on her. Or was he in love with her?

Glancing up from his book The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Lurox, he caught her ever so lightly gazes every now and then. He smiled, hidden behind his thick hard-back book, thinking that maybe she does like him back, but he didn't want to ge this hopes too high just like he did with his last three heart-breaks.

Derrik was a little disappointed when the bell rang and it was time for his next class. One period down...eight more to go, he mumbled to himself. He already couldn't wait till Lunch so he could get to look at Serenity.

Serenity sighed, putting her books away more slowly than required. Some one asked her if they should wait for her but she refused, she told them to go on. Serenity glanced around the class room to see if she was the only student left, making sure she made her way to Mr. Patting. "Umm..Mr.Patting I was wondering..wondering if you could help me with English this year, you see I was planning on taking this as my major when I go to University" she said stuttering and blushing a bit as she talked to him.

Serenity had no trouble in English, she was a natural born writer, but she wanted to get to know her teacher better. She blushed at the thought of getting to spend after schools with him, it was enough to make her giggle but she had to control herself in front of him. She didn't know how he would take it knowing that a student had a crush on him, he could just find it creepy.

Derrik smiled up at how cute Serenity was being. "I can tutor you and we can do some writing exercised to prep your for college," he pointed out as he pulled out a paper for her to fill out about tutoring.

"We can tutor here, at my house, or at your house," he added, still smiling up at her.

He loved her ideas and how she was thinking. This would be the perfect way to get to know her and this would also be the perfect way to be getting closer to her.

Serenity nodded, her eyes shining with excitement. She bent over to look at the paper, she frowned slightly suddenly going to college was making her nervous. She didn't want to go yet, she wanted to be here so she could look at Mr. Patting every day. She was lost in though when her attention peaked again, "S..sorry I was thinking about something" she said with a small giggle.

"Would...you mind if we tutor at your house? My brothers are kind of annoying.." Serenity told him, she could feel a shiver go down her spine as she thought about spending time with Mr. Patting. "When can we start tutoring?" she asked him inquisitively. She thought the sooner the better.

"No problem," Derrik answered as he handed Serenity a pencil to fill out the paper. "No, make sure you parents sign this. And We can start tomorrow if you return this in time, and I can take you to my house and drop you off at home," he replied with a smile. "See you then."

Serenity nodded, "Yeah I'll make sure they fill this out, thanks so much Mr. Patting!" she said smiling at him. Serenity met his eyes for a moment and then shied away from him. She half ran to her other class, she couldn't wait for it too be lunch. She needed to remember to ask her parents to sign this no matter what she couldn't forget!

Serenity was half asleep in science class when the lunch bell rang. 'LUNCH!' the teen thought happily to herself, she saw Yumiko waiting for her. Both the girls ran to the locker and shoved there things in as fast as they could before running to the cafeteria line. While waiting in the line her eyes scanned the teachers on duty for lunch, her heart jumped and her blood rushed to her head when she saw Mr. Patting was one of them.

"You're on duty at lunch," the principal told Derrik as soon as he entered the lunch room.

"Alright," Derrik answered as he grabbed a tray and the lunch lady began to pile stuff on it.

After he ate, he stood with two teachers he doesn't normally speak to as the kids started filing into the lunch room and line up in the lunch line. Derrik sighed as his eyes scanned the line and immediately caught Serenity's gaze.

Serenity's eyes grew wider as he caught her staring, she shifted her gaze away trying to be casual. Then as if just to show Mr. Patting that she wasn't looking for him in particular she let her gaze wander again and smile at the various people she knew. She moved forward slowly, she held the tray in one hand and was patting her stomach with the other. She was giggling about different things with Yumiko.

Getting her lunch Serenity and Yumiko went to sit at their usual table, it was full of seniors and a few juniors. Their table had to be the noisiest in the whole cafeteria! As she ate she also kept an eye out for her favourite teacher, Yumiko had often teased her about getting together with Mr. Patting but never realized how much Serenity wished that could be true. Every time she would just blush at the statement and stick her tongue out.

Derrik found it cute how she pretended she wasn't looking at him. And he also found it cute when she would sneak a glance at him every now and then. When it became clearly known that her table was being the most noisiest, he walked over to the table. "Can you guys kinda lower to volume?" he asked them in a stern but friendly voice.

Serenity pouted at Yumiko as she made fun of her yet again when she saw Mr. Patting making his way over to their table. "Sorry about that Mr. Patting, we're just so happy this is our senior year! We haven't seen each other in so long we forgot that there are other people here" she said with a small smile towards him. "We'll make sure we're quieter from now on" she told him giggling.

"Alright," Derrik said as he rolled his eyes and walked away, not believing them. But he made sure he looked at Serenity before he walked totally away.

After he was gone Serenity put her head on the table in front of her. "I think I just died and ended up in heaven" she muttered quietly to herself. She had seen the look Mr. Patting had given her, she looked up at Yumiko in front of her and raised an eyebrow. The stare she was giving her was funny, maybe it was time Serenity told Yumiko about "things".

Derrik chuckled when he heard what she had said as he walked away. He headed to another table who were throwing paper at each other and yelled at them. After that, he glanced back at Serenity's table again. They were keeping the noise level down and a little disappointed they didn't bring it up for an excuse to go over there again, Derrik sighed and drank some of his Diet Pepsi.

Serenity blushed deeply as she pulled Yumiko out of the cafeteria and dragged her to the bathroom. She took a deep breath it and faced her best friend, before she burst she checked all the toilet stalls for other girls. Luckily there were none. "I think I like Mr. Patting!" she burst out as she looked at Yumiko wide eyed.

Yumiko just started laughing, "I knew it! I knew it! I can't believe you tell me this now!" Yumiko said through her laughs. She abruptly stopped and looked at Serenity frowning, "But..isn't he a bit too..old?" Yumiko asked Serenity raising an eyebrow. Serenity hung her head down and frowned, she had never really...thought about his age before. "Maybe..but..that shouldn't matter right?" she said with a desperation in her voice as she looked at her friend for support. Yumiko shrugged, "I guess its up to you Serenity" Yumiko made her way over and patter Serenity's shoulder.

The next day after class, he stopped Serenity before she left the room. "Did you get the paper signed?" he asked her.

Serenity blushed, "Oh..Oh yeah! My parents said its fine, but they wanted you to be over on a few specific days." she said with a guilty look on her face. Serenity's parents thought it was "unsafe", no matter how much she pleaded and used excuses that her brothers bothered her they made no exception Mr. Patting had to be over at their house a few days too.

"Umm..sir? Is it okay if we start today?" she said blushing softly. She couldn't wait to get started! "Oh! And do I need anything for tutoring? Or just my regular book and pens." she asked smiling up at the teacher.

Derrik nodded, taking the slip of paper. "Alright, that's no problem at all. I actually understand because I know your parents don't trust me," he said with a nervous chuckle.

"Uh, yeah. It's fine we can start today," he said as he took a sip of his water. "Where do you want it to be today. Your house or mine?" he then asked her as he sighed and sat down at his desk.
