Blaze felt odd. Her eyes came slowly apart and she blinked to adjust to the blaring light from the fire. She stood up and gave a big yawn. Blaze walked around to stretch a little then built a wall of fire. 'This is it,' she thought. This was her chance to turn back human. Hesitantly she walked through it. Her skin began to prickle and excitement flooded through her. 'Yes!' she thought. Her body came out with no burns. She was fully human again! Blaze looked around to find her two friends eating-finishing-dinner... and someone else. He had dark black hair and piercing green eyes. Blaze noticed something odd about him.

Aqua turned and noticed that Blaze was awake, and in human form! "Blaze!" She screamed/yelled, running over. "Omigosh, are you alright?"
But Blaze's body was completely burn free. Aqua dug around in the bad of supplies and found some clothes for Blaze. She tossed them over. "You feeling okay? Staying in animal form for too long isn't good..."

Jac noticed her wake. The fox. He knew there was something about her....
"Hello," He said solemnly, strolling over. He held out a hand to the fox-girl. "I'm Jac. Pleased to meet you," He said, trying not to reveal his tapered canines.

Alice noticed that Blaze was awake. Alice looked at Blaze and said "Hey sleepy head. How was you're little nap?". Alice totally forgot about Blaze's dinner Alice Frowned and said "Blaze I'm so sorry I forgot to make you some dinner! Look I'll make some more.". Alice ran towards the apple tree to get some more apples so Blaze could have something to eat.

Blaze smiled. She wasn't really used to attention; except when she was exiled from her home. She shivered. Horrible times. The new boy, Jac, was staring at her curiously. She stared back. His green eyes left her gaze, though, and she felt her stomach twist.

"Hello Jac. I'm Blaze. Nice to meet you." He grinned, and Blaze noticed something just before he quickly closed his mouth. His teeth... vampire.... he was a vampire! Blaze backed away slowly, her heart racing. The enemy...

Alice picked to many apples, they were starting to fall out of her arms. Alice sighed and said "can someone help me! I have to many apples!". Alice dropped one when she leaned over she dropped all of them.

"I'll help you," Blaze stalled. She didn't want anything to do with the vampire. She grabbed the apples off the ground and few out of Alice's arms and followed her back to the campsite.

"Blaze, could you go and help? I'm hopeless at climbing." The real reason: Aqua wanted to speak privately with Jac.

Alice smiled at Blaze and said "Thank you blaze. I hope you can climb trees 'cause I want to make a bunch of roasted apples!". Alice climbed up the tree and started picking more apples.

Blaze shrugged. "I'm not all that good at tree climbing... but I guess I could try." Blaze picked an apple tree close to the campsite. She wanted to keep an eye on the vampire. He could hurt Aqua, after all. He was dangerous.

Alice looked at Blaze and said "Well you're not going to get much apples if you don't climb the tree so good luck.". Alice grasped an apple and tried to pull it but when she did her vision blurred a little bit. She shook her head and pulled the apple off the branch. When she jumped out of the tree, instead of landing on her feet she landed on her knees. When she tried to get up she collapsed. Everything was black.

Aqua turned and stared at the ground. She knew Jac's eyes were on her-- but for some reason she would not, or could not turn and be melted by his gaze.
"Jac," She said, finally giving up and walking up close to him, "Why is it that i feel like myself... Why is it that I... I like you so much?" For some reason, admitting this to Jac felt like a sin.

He smiled and twirled a strand of her hair with his long, slender fingers.
"Because we are alike in more ways than you could have imagined." He did not give details.


Aqua wondered why she did not push his hand away. It just felt so... right.
"What do you mean?" She whispered, staring into his warm eyes.

"Your mother. She was captured by the Damned, was she not?"

Aqua nodded, still captured by his gaze. She did not question how he knew. He just did.

"My father was also. And... We were both sent away because we were considered a harm to the world." Jac continued listing ways he was similar to Aqua. He had been granted a pair of wings and had been forced to stay in the sky, rather than endangering the humans. But when he had spotted Aqua and Alice he had sliced his wings off and decended to earth, against the Sky People's will. Same as Aqua. She had ran away from the Island once she knew something she loved was in trouble. Gone away against the Sky People's wishes.

Aqua and Jac both had a brother who had died when he was 4. Both of them loved their brother to death. Well, maybe that is the wrong term to use. But you see the point.

Aqua listened intently, his words slipping over her and locking in place in her mind, finally making sense.

Alice was a little girl again. She was in shadows arms. Shadow smiled and said "Alice you're alive. I'm so glad you're okay.". Shadow looked behind him, there was a man chasing them. The man had spiky white hair, red eyes and a smile on his face. Alice looked up at shadow and said "W-What's going on?" shadow frowned and said "I'll tell you later..". The man chasing them jumped in front of them. Shadow stopped running and yelled "I'm not letting you take her Edaniel!" The smiled and said "Oh like you're going to stop me. You're weak like you're parents. If you don't hand her to me then you'll end up like you're parents!". Shadow growled and said "I'll never give her to you!!". Edaniel chuckled and said "Then I'll take her by force" Edaniel grabbed his sword and said "You're last chance, give her to me or you'll die.". Alice started to cry. She looked at Edaniel and said "NO! I'll never go with you! Never never never!". Shadow bit hi lip and put Alice down. Shadow grabbed his sword and said "Alice get out of hear. Now!". Alice looked up at Shadow and said "No I won't leave you!". Shadow growled and said "Get out of hear now or Edaniel will take you away!". Alice looked at Edaniel then she looked back at Shadow and said "He murdered mom and dad...I'll never go with him. I-I'll leave." Alice turned around and started to run away. Edaniel was about to go after Alice but Shadow stopped him and said "You'll have to get threw me before you go after Alice.". Edaniel snickered and said "That won't be a problem because I'll kill you quickly.". Shadow and Edaniel brought out here swords and started to fight. The vision blurred...

Blaze gasped. Alice had crumpled to her knees on the ground beside her. Blaze jumped down from the tree (something done that easily only with practice) and shook her fallen friend. The girl did not awaken. Blaze cried to Aqua for help but she was drooling over the phony Jac. Blaze looked down at Alice again. Her face looked so peaceful that Blaze decided she was crying over spilled milk. Alice was fine, and so was Aqua. They could care for themselves. Blaze felt embarrassment flame inside her. The only thing she wanted to do at that moment was run far away and never look back. She could go to her sister. Dawn was a comforting person. If she were alive, that is. Why was Blaze's world so weak? Everything she had lived with and loved as a child was now crumpling. Blaze turned away in shame from the campsite and sobbed her heart out.

Aqua realised, for the first time, that he could be his. Jac. On the island, there was no real time for boys... Well, there were none, to be honest. So Aqua had never really acknowledged the other gender. Males. Guys. Whatever you wanted to call them. And he seemed to like her too. Aqua was about to speak when she noticed something unnatural. Eerie. There was no sound from Alice or Blaze.

Aqua whipped around, searching the apple trees for a sign of her two friends. Ah, there was a shadow there-- by the highest branch. That would probably be Alice, she was so good at climbing. And Blaze... Aqua scanned the long slender branches, looking for a hint of red, a hint of Blaze's hair. Nothing.

I'm probably just worrying over nothing, Aqua thought, shaking the worries from her head. Blaze was probably on another tree a bit further away.
Ah, she's over there, Aqua thought, making out a slender human figure next to a tree. And at her feet was a lump... A bag of apples, maybe? Aqua squinted at it. No, it was too big for a bag of apples. So what was it?

She pushed Jac's caressing hands away and walked toward the lump, determined to find out what Blaze was up to. What was that lump? There were no secrets here.
She strode over the Blaze.

Alice woke up from her. She got up and rubbed her head. "My head hurts.." Alice said with a sad tone of voice. "Shadow! Come hear now!" Alice yelled. Shadow woke up from his nap, got up and walked over to Alice. "What do you want aud?" Shadow said with an angry tone of voice. "Are you okay shadow?" Alice said with concern. Shadow just sighed and said "I'm fine. is that all you need?". Alice frowned and said "N- yes thats all I need.". Alice was going to ask Shadow something els but she changed her mind.

Blaze saw Aqua approaching and quickly wiped her tears away. Her cheeks still looked stained but that was fine. She rubbed the snot off her nose and turned. She weakly attempted a smile but Aqua noticed. She pointed to Alice.
"She just collapsed. I don't know what's wrong but she looked so peaceful I didn't want to wake her." Hesitating, she added, "I've just been waiting for her to wake up." Lying was something Blaze was usually very good at, but today she seemed out of character. It was like her whole life she was playing a part and now the show was over and she was walking into the green room.
Blaze's stomach knotted up as Aqua lifted a skeptical eyebrow at her. But the girl said nothing. Blaze stood up. "I should probably get back to picking apples. Alice should be fine, right?" Aqua muttered something Blaze couldn't understand. She shrugged. It didn't matter. As long as all three-four- of them were in one piece, nothing mattered. Blaze shook her head. What was she saying? Of course it mattered!
Blaze approached a tall tree full of ripe apples. But instead of climbing it to pick them, she hid behind it and called to Jac. He lifted his head and strode over, leaning in. Jac's hair smelled like the morning sky and fluffy white clouds. She knew that because Dawn took her flying once in a while. But that was before.
"I need to talk to you." He nodded, listening. Blaze took a deep breath and said, "I know you really like Aqua, and she really, REALLY likes you. But I just need to know for sure that you won't hurt her or Alice. Or me. I just... I'm sorry for not trusting you but I've been taught to hate vampires. You have to understand."
He was still nodding. Jac said he understood. Then he promised not to hurt Aqua, Blaze or Alice in any way or form. His voice was so musical, so enchanting, so... loving. Now she knew why Aqua loved him. But this was no time for that.
"Thank you." Blaze whispered. "That means a lot to me."

Aqua watched as Alice got up and rubbed her eyes. She looked terrible. There were bags under her eyes and her skin was pale. Something was wrong.

"Alice," Aqua said after Shadow turned and left. "Is there anything you need to tell me?" She stared with concern at Alice.

Alice looked at Aqua and said "Uh y-no I don't.". Alice didn't want to tell anyone about her dream/vision. She wanted to wait a while before she did tell anyone. Alice put on a fake smile and said "I'm going to go get something to drink.". Alice got up and walked to the stream.

Blaze felt a little better after talking to Jac. She watched as he walked away-such a confident gait. Blaze rubbed her eyes and sat down next to Alice.
"Are you okay?" she asked. She didn't want to invade Alice's privacy but she didn't want to ignore it either. Alice shifted uncomfortably. Blaze noticed something was very wrong, but Alice obviously didn't want to talk about it. So she dropped the subject.
