This information seemed to bring her pause, and she flittered around him to sit lightly on his knee. "...He must very much like you," she mused allowed, blinking up at him curiously. "For a kelpie to offer anything, without a fee...is almost unheard of..."
|
Wouldn't it be nice if that were more obvious, he thought. He sighed and groaned, falling back onto his back, rubbing his face. "But why does he have to be so..Just..Ugh!" he couldn't form words. "Inside of himself." he managed to form. "You say he likes me, and I believe you because it makes sense, but..I think he hates himself for not feeling towards me as he would feel towards others.." Var would be a hindrance, after all, if there were feelings to get in the way. |
"He doesn't want to feel affection anymore," she chimed happily. "And I think he's grown fond of you, which irks him."
|
"Anymore?" That's right..He had a mate, before. But from what he can tell, he pushed her away, not the other way around. But still, that may not be the case. His nose wiggled in thought and he sighed, daring to ask something that he probably shouldn't know. "What happened...that makes him not want to enjoy another person?" Good thing Nin was asleep, for both their sakes. |
"He had a lady, a while ago. She wasn't a kelpie, she was Unicorn...I think." A soft sigh and she seemed distant. "She was gorgeous. Sparkly, pale, tall. They had two children. A girl and a boy. But after the children came, she sort of lost her mind, a little. Or so he says--she was around before me. I just knew the retribution. Well, apparently, she stole away with the babies, and her didn't see them for years. He severed their mated bond, and when he did, she's spent almost all her energy to get get him to recreate it. Even though they hate each other." A soft shrug. "It's a strange web."
|
The Kilin's eyes lowered and he stared at the grass. So, the fact that he, too, was something around a Unicorn, was most likely part of the reason. He looked out into the woods, and thought about running away, perhaps. "If it hurts him so much, then why did he choose to take me?" It made no sense. Nin liked him, but it hurt him to feel so. Again he was frustrated, and he flicked at a rock near him, seeing it spring forth and flop into the water. What will the woman think when she see's him with a different...In her eyes, woman? It no longer sounded like a good plan. "What should i do, Kaudron?" He asked finally, cupping his hands so he could bring the little fairy closer to his face. |
The little woman lounged in his hands happily, sprawling out all over his palms. A little smile came to her face, and she tilted her head. "He likes shiny things. And prey. But I can't read his mind. Maybe you remind him of her; he gave her everything." Her little feet began to swing back and forth. "As for what you should do...well, me being me I'd tease him to the ends of the earth," she giggled quietly. "I dunno. Do you like him at all?"
|
He put up his kneed and rested his elbows there, holding her close. He listened to her as he thought about what he could do. "So...Pretty much I should find him things and try to make him happy." Var concluded. He paused at the question, and sat there a moment thinking about it. "Sometimes...He has...moments. They are very short and very few. Most of the time I feel embarrassed or upset around him.." Standing, he huffed his usual decisive huff and smiled down at the orange ball of excitement and kissed her gently. "Come on, let's go look for shiny things to bring him. I need to apologize for taking over his bed last night, anyway." He waited for her response to that before taking off. |
She clung to his fingers and swayed as he stood, blinking rapidly, before curling up in his palm and nodding. "I meant you're shiny, but he'd really enjoy more shiny things. Lets go! I haven't been away from the river in a long time anywho!"
Her little wings wiggled as she peeked over the edge of his hand towards the ironside. She'd never been truly ironside, and now she almost seemed to buzz with excited. "Onward, my trusty noble stead!" A tiny little arm extended and pointed off in a random direction. "Onward to victory! And shininess!" |
Var was in tune with her enthusiasm, he playfully beyed like a young horse, and headed off to the human city. There were many shiny things there, that they could take. He tucking her onto his head, where she could hold on like a true rider, and ran as fast as he could, looking like a boy this time. His hair was shorter and stuck to his scalp in curls, and he wore white pants and a soft lavender colored shirt. Not quite different from what Nin had him in before. "Where does one go to find shiny items?" he asked as soon as they left the forest, taking off into the side walk. It was rather scary, being there alone. He was a little nervous now, losing that enthusiasm just a tad. The streets buzzed with light and activity, and he grew lost in the crowd, pushed into a shopping district. There, he saw many shiny things. There were street lights and poles, and odd metal art. Then he saw into a window, jewelry displayed in sets of necklaces, rings, and bracelets. He braced himself against the glass, smiling. That should make Nin happy as a nypmh! He went into the store, looking at all the cases of jewelry. Now..How was he supposed to get them out? |
The little fairy giggled and clung, though felt her lungs constricting from all the iron. She held onto his hair though, unseen with her own glamour, and looked around curiously. So many humans, so many tall brick structures, my goodness.
As he began to get pushed around, she lost her grip occasionally and would slip off onto his shoulder with a 'oomph'. She settled back on his head though, and when they came to the store, her tiny eyes lit up. "Ooooh, they're perfect! I'll go distract the shop owner, you get the shinies? Careful not to touch the metal, it smells like iron." Nin would be so happy! Speaking of Nin, the further the boy got from the river, the more restless his sleep became. So much so that he ended up sitting straight as a board, dampened with sweat, and staring at the opposite wall with an uncensored look of horror. His hand came immediately to his chest and he began to pant, looking up at the ceiling wildly, before crawling out of bed and hurrying towards the water. "Where has he gone? I can't barely feel him..." Damn Iron, blocking his radio signal. |
Var wandered, looking for the prettiest shiny before they executed their simple plan. He gave a soft nod, telling her he'd found the perfect thing to get him. It was a beautiful diamond necklace, small ones at first, then slowly they grew larger until there was a thick gold stone in the middle. He smiled, seeing it was close to Nin's eyes, and waited until he could. He broke the glass and snatched the necklace, hissing when his hand brushed against the bolt lock. It stung, but he tried to ignore it, and slipped out of the store disappearing into the crowd, until he found a dark corner which he duck in to, panting and clutching the necklace to his chest, waiting for Kaudron to catch up. His head was pounding and he laughed fro the thrill. He coughed, then, rubbing his nose. He was more tired than he had been before, and he knew it wasn't from the sprint. He hoped Kaudron would find him soon. He needed to get back home. Home...so that's what it was, now. (Bout to leave church, IDK when I'll be around internet again. Gotta go to...some place far away to get my dad a bed...thing...lol) |
Kaudron had successfully executed her little plan, and from the broken case ahd taken a diamond earring. She giggled as she clutched it, darting out the door and weaving above the crowd until she could find her friend. It took her a few minutes to find him, since he'd tucked away into an ally, but when she did she collapsed on his head in giggles. "We're a team! What'd you snag? I got this little thingy." She held it out.
Nin was running, soaked, and human, down the concrete in just his pajama pants he'd managed to snag just before leaving the cavern. People went stumbling in every direction as he plowed his way through the crowd, leaning and dodging in an attempt to find his ward(s). "For the love of algae...where did he GO?" |
Giggling with her, he plucked her from his head so he could see what she got, and thus held up the necklace. "I got this for him. I liked the stone, and it's simply COVERED in sparklies!" he said, excited again when she was with him He waited until they were both rested, before shoving the pretty in his pocket, and heading out into the street. Now..which way was back? He hadn't seen where he was going, so now he wasn't so sure. He walked out into the street, since there were no people there, and yelped and jumped when he heard a car honking, and he raced to join the people. He slowly began to panic, and came across the park he had went to with Nin, and ducked in there, hiding inside a covered slide. "Where is home from here, Kau? I've seem to have forgotten.." |
Kaudron looked around curiously, tapping the little bauble against his head gently in thought. She looked one way, then another, then behind her, then back. "...It all looks the same," she pointed out unhelpfully, and flittered up off his head and into the air, then began to rise as she spun in slow circles. "I can't even see the forest from here...we may be in some trouble."
Nin ran right past the jewelry store, now riding off the very vague waves of his wards' scents. He stared into the ally and felt his blood run cold, then looked and down the street. His feet took him right across the road and onto the other side, and eh scrambled around people muttering 'move, move'. Parts of his skin looked red and irate, having touched watches, purse hands and who knows what else in his haste. |
"Well, that's helpful.." he muttered softly, laying down in the slide. His legs stuck out and were planted on the ground, and a few children, peeking in at him from the top and asked him to move. He apologized and smiled at them, moving from the slide and sitting on a bench near a mother watching her children. She eyed him oddly, but then returned to her book. "So what should we do, Kaudron?" He asked aloud, receiving another look from the mother. He looked into the air at the fairy, whom was trying to find them a way out. "Just what we needed...We go and try to do something nice for him, and we end up getting lost..." Var groaned and slumped in his chair, lips jutted. The mother blinked at him, young, and leaned over. "Are you all right?" she asked, catching him off guard. He turned and nodded to her, and then began to ramble about his life from the point of entering the Unseelie forest to then. She just stared at him like he was a nut case. |
Kaudron was still above them, not really bothering to stop the boy from spilling about the fae. After a while though, she did stop in one direction, and stared with big eyes. Big eyes became bigger, before she doved down and attached herself to Var's head. "Varvarvar, Hushhushush!" She hugged gently, waving a tiny hand. "He found us!"
And he had, running around the park and dragging children off to the side to ask them if they'd seen the boy, or a little tiny bug woman. Some kids stared at him in fear, others burst into tears; His glamour was broken, hair blond in some places, but true moss and hanging seaweed in others. Adults wouldn't be able to see that, they had no Sight, when it came to the fae, anymore. But the children saw the children saw the sharp teeth, the blacked out left eye. They could smell the muddy water, could see the grimy fur that had feathered so strangely similar to that on Var's forearms. He was half glamoured and didn't seem to notice, nor care. |
He had gotten to the part where he went into the water to Nin's home, when he was interrupted. At first he said "Not now, I am telling a story," but when he heard that Nin had found them, he perked and looked through the park. He could hear commotion from the slide, and walked over. There he saw Nin, looking very odd, and he couldn't help but giggle. He hurried over, telling the children that they were sorry, and turned leaves into candy and gave it to them, before taking the Kelpie's hand and leading him from the park. "You do know that you look only half human, don't you?" he asked pointedly, pausing when they were away from the children and in a secluded part of the park. He had no idea how much trouble Nin had gone through to find them, and he didn't know that he would probably be very cross. "Oh! Kaudron and I got you some presents!" he said before he could forget, and smiled brightly, holding out his shiny, and expecting Kaudron to do the same. (AAANNNDDDDD I'm off...Dunno when I'll be back. And I know you are lurking Kisu, and I will reply when I get the chance. Dad is a freaking ass and....just...augh. Gotta help him get a bed....But..The way he tells me I have to help-- Ok, I'll hush. Be back whenever!) |
Kaudron, however, hid behind his head.
Nin stared at him, and strangely, the moss and things seemed to sink into his skin. It wasn't hardly thirty seconds before his glamour was recreated, and gold eyes just...stared. He looked like Var had just as him if he was a man, and was waiting for him to say 'I'm just kidding!' The mention of something shiny, however, made him look down. He blinked, then took the necklace almost hesitantly, eyeing it and turning it over, weighing it in his hands. After a while he looked back up at him and tilted his head, dumbfounded expression now...curious. "...You left the river, to get me something?" |
(-pops back- JUST KIDDING! Decided he didn;t want the bed....-_-) Var blinked when Kaudron stayed behind him, but he shrugged. He closed his eyes and stayed smiling, gigglign softly at the awkward silence. Only when Nin took the necklace from him and watched he looked it over, searching his face for any signs of being pleased. But there weren't any. In fact, the emotion he read was hard to comprehend. "Well, I couldn't exactly find you something new and shiny by the river, now could I?" He paused, then pouted and looked down, head low. "You don't like it..." Var accused, scuffing his white converse on the ground. |
(Your last...occ confuses me...;.; )
Nin just stared at him, before leaning to gentle place the trinket around Var's neck. Kaudron looked shocked, and skittered away from Nin's has as he fashioned it around the Kilin. After a moment, Nin smiled, very vaguely, and looked quite tired. "It looks better on you. Come back to the river." He rubbed his arm and turned around, walking almost stiffly towards the gates, red marks fading, but still painfully red. Kaudron nudged Var gently. "We went to far...he's hurting." |
(I had said that I was leaving because we had to pick up a bed for my dad but he decided he didn't want the bed, so now I am taking pictures of auto parts for him to sell off craigs list while replying to roleplays and applying for the SAT at the same tiem....Who knew a sunday could be so active? And in an hour i have to help a friend with her film project and lalalala personal stuff you don't care abotu XD I...talk...a lot >.>) Var sucked in his lower lip at the necklace was placed on him. He blinked and looked down, then back up to see the smile, and it made his core shake. He watched as he walked off, and was in a daze before Kaudron told him they went too far. He sighed and nodded, following after him. He followed closely, as if making up for how far away he was previously, and even reached out to grasp at the fingers of his red arm, apologizing through touch. |
Kaudron was quietly, frowning deeply and fluttered over to her Sir. She hovered by his red marks, fingers glittering as she made her own little salve to help heal the iron burns.
Nin didn't shy away from the motion, but he didn't accept it either. He did glance at the kilin, blinking slowly, before shaking his head. "Do not wander ironside without me, Var. You have no idea what could have happened to you. Men and women here are less than kind. I do not need you hurt." His eyes were soft, but his jaw was set. "Do you understand me?" (Would you like an all expense paid visit to a spa to relax? D: ) |
(That'd be nice, but nah, I can handle.) Var looked down at his feet in shame, avoiding the eyes of the other. He went out in hopes of doing something nice for him, he shouldn't be upset. "Yes, I understand." he answered, following along, still gently holding onto the fingers. They made it to the forest and the smell of Iron lessened, and it was as if a weight was lifted off of them. He dropped his glamour when they were cloaked by the leaves, and let go of him. He didn't see what all the hubbub was about. Nothing happened, except for the strange metal thing that barked at him, and the humans paid him no mind. He was morbidly curious what could have happened, but his own stubbornness kept him quiet, acting as if he were upset with Nin, other than vice versa. |
(Everyones had such a stressful day. D: )
When they had neared the river, he turned to look at him and stopped quietly. "...If you want to go out to the ironside....please tell me first. All right?" He sighed, running a hand across his hair, before shaking his head. "I dont need you to to get hurt...even if you're doing something so nice." A finger came up, stroking across his collarbone beside the necklace. "Its not a nice feeling." |
