She thought about that. "That makes sense. I understnad what your saying." she said.

He eats a couple of his onion rings and a bite of his burger. "Why are you trusting me enough to be a friend of mine?" he asks curiously.

"I don't really know. Guess I just do." she said. She ate some more of the food.

He really did want to know why but he didn't pry for the answer. "I'm not sure if I said it but I'm sorry about your brother, and if you need someone to talk to, I'm here."

"Thanks about that. But I'm not sure I'm going to talk to you about it. At least, not yet." she said.

"I know what you mean, I just meant that if you need me, I'd be happy to be there for you."

"Alright. And thanks for that." she told him.

"Anytime." he says, taking a couple more bites of his burger. "Life is tough on us all, and all any of us needs is a good friend to be there for us."

"Yeah....I've never really had many friends." she said.

"Me either, mostly just comrades who would help me survive battles, then it was like I didn't exsist unless I made some great military achievement."

"My closest friends were my brothers." she said. "And even then only part of the time."

"It's funny isn't it, how someone will have your back in battle, but won't talk to you off the battleground except to hear your famous battle stories?"

"I'm not allowed near the battles. Father says I'll get hurt." she said.

"Yeah, he sounds like he's just trying to protect you, Battles are dangerous, there's times I've alomst died from them, but there's something that is intended for me to do i guess, i haven't died yet."

"He didn't want my to join the army. But there wasn't anything he could do to stop me. So he made me a scout." she said.

"I see, he does care about you, he tries to do what he can for you, to make you safe as possible and happy." h says saying what he noticed.

"I know he cares. But I need some space every now and then. And I want to be able to do more." she said.

"Yeah, my commnder was relunctant to let me join as both a soldier and scout until he saw how skilled I was, and still am." he says. "And he lets me do as I wish when I'm not on missions."

"Lucky for you. When I'm not working I have to stay on the base." she said.

"Maybe we can change that one." he says having mischevious thoughts.

"Maybe. I hate not having anything to do." she said.

"Well, maybe we can see about sneaking you out of the base from time to time." he says." I'm sure you'd love having that happen to have a bit of fun every now and then."

She thought about it. "Yeah. I would like that." she said. She smiled slightly at him.

He smiled gently. "As I would like the company on slow days, war bores me anyway." he says smiling at the irony of what he said.

"If war bores you, then why did you join?" she asked.
