Professor Severus Snape (9 January, 1960 – 2 May, 1998) was Potions master (1981–1996), Defence Against the Dark Arts professor (1996–1997 school year), and Headmaster (1997–1998 school year) of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Snape played an important role in the war against Voldemort, though he did so covertly and at great personal risk.

Snape was born a half-blood wizard, the son of the witch Eileen Prince, and the Muggle Tobias Snape. Despite his wizarding heritage, he was raised in the Muggle dwelling of Spinner's End, which was in close proximity to the home of the Evans family. He met Lily and Petunia Evans when he was nine, and fell deeply in love with Lily, becoming a close friend of hers. In 1971 he began his first term at Hogwarts where he was sorted into Slytherin. Severus became the immediate enemy of James Potter and Sirius Black and was a frequent victim of their bullying. Snape had developed a passion for the Dark Arts at a young age, and had followed the pure-blood supremacists in Slytherin House, despite his love for Lily, a Muggle-born. This put his friendship with Lily under great strain. After leaving school he joined the Death Eaters along with a large group of his fellow Slytherins.

Shortly before Lily Evans was killed by Lord Voldemort, Snape changed sides and became a member of the Order of the Phoenix and double agent during the Second Wizarding War. With tremendous difficulty, Snape was able to prevent Lord Voldemort from learning the truth about his loyalties. Despite the opinions of most others, Albus Dumbledore trusted Snape for reasons that were kept between them both until their deaths. Upon his death, it was revealed that his deep love for Lily Evans caused him to redeem himself, joining Dumbledore's cause at the prospect of her protection from Lord Voldemort. The relationship between Dumbledore and Snape would be one of an unusually strong loyalty, so much so that Snape agreed to kill Dumbledore upon Dumbledore's own request. Before Dumbledore's death, Snape promised to protect the students of Hogwarts from the Death Eaters, who would inevitably take control of the Ministry of Magic, as well as the school. Snape later participated in the Battle of Hogwarts, but was killed by Lord Voldemort upon the belief that he was the master of the Elder Wand, a powerful wand that Voldemort wanted. After his death, Harry Potter ensured that Severus Snape's portrait remained at Hogwarts, honouring him as a hero, despite their severe personal differences.

Snape looked at Luna as she walked into his class. She was short, petite, and beautiful. But she was too young, what was he thinking?! He rested his hand on his head and groaned, looking up to see Potter and Weasley grinning, flipping through their books. Snape stood up and slammed his wand on their table. "I do not allow goofing off, Mr. Potter, and Mr. Weasley," he glared. Harry and Ron lowered their heads and Ron muttered something. Snape put his wand under Ron's chin and lifted it, pressing it against his throat. "What was that, Mr. Weasley?"
"N-Nothing, sir..." Ron stuttered.

Bio:

Luna Lovegood was the only child of Xenophilius Lovegood and his wife. Luna's mother was accidentally killed experimenting with a spell that she created when Luna was nine years old. Thus, Luna was raised by her father.

"Professor, don't be too hard on them. If I am correct, 'Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it' so it seems if we don't get anywhere, we won't learn correct?" Luna stated. She wasn't trying to be rude towards the teacher or anything, it just sort of came out as though she had her head in the clouds. "History? we're in potions Luna not history" Ron spoke "I think she means, we can fail on our own each year Ron" Harry stated.

Snape whacked Ron on the head for his stupidity, and Harry on the head....Just because he wanted to. He looked to Luna and replied, "Ten points to Gryffindor. Thank you, Miss Lovegood." He walked back to the front of the class and pointed to the screen. "Pixies," he spoke loudly. "Are small, electric, blue, flying creatures." He pointed with his wand, and sighed. "They are extremely mischievous, and you do not want to get one mad at you." He looked around, at the class. "Any questions?"

Ron raised his hand for the first time, though he didn't want to get hit in the head again by Snape. "What would happen if we did get them mad at us?" Hermione shook her head and waited for Snape's answer, she didn't feel the need to explain what would happen, since she was 'always' explaining everything to him. "It's very unpleasant Ron, just take the advice, never make them mad" Luna added doodling.

Snape looked at his class, then the schedule. "I want you to read the chapter on pixies, then write a five-page essay on when you learned," he said, bluntly, then sat back in his chair. No one dared to complain, because they didn't feel like getting hit on the head like the idiots in the front. Snape got his feather and ink out, then started grading last week's tests.

Luna and of course Hermione had gotten to work right away with the rest of the class. Ron and Harry were talking and complaing. "Guys, don't cause anymore trouble" Luna silently whispered hoping she wouldn't get in trouble. She was half way done with her work by now as Hermione had already finished apparently. Hermione went up and turned her paper in herself, Luna also turned hers in 15 minutes later and took out another book based on 'Ancient Potions' that she felt was quite interesting. She also had a book based on 'Mythological Creatures from Ancient times'

Snape watched Luna write, read, and look so interested in the books she was reading. He smiled slightly, then got back to work.

Soon, everyone's papers were in. Before he dismissed class, he looked up. "Miss Lovegood, please stay after," he said, in his bland mono-tone voice. He put the papers in order and set it aside while everyone, except Luna.

Luna looked up and wondered if she did something wrong, she usually didn't care but still it couldn't stay out of her mind. When everyone left, Luna packed up her things and walked over to Professor Snape, "Yes, sir?" Luna said in her rare yet dreamless accent.

Snape looked at her with his dark eyes. He stood and walked over to her, keeping his eyes on her. "Are you interested in learning more about mythical creatures, and rare potions?" he was wondering, due to him seeing her read those books.

"Oh yes, I love to read about the different species and what makes them each unique" Luna smiled replying. She was wearing her shoes but was hoping to take them off after this class. "Faeries are my favorite at the moment and as for potions, well I love to learn new things to try and make" she added dreamly.

Snape smiled to himself, and stood. "I am hosting a class, after school hours, teaching students about the ups and downs of mythical creatures and potions," he fixed more papers, and walked out of the classroom, holding the door for Luna. It was his last class of the day, seeing as he had the last period off. He watched her walk out. "Would you be interested?"

"Oh yes I would love to" Luna smiled and then asked "Right after school?" she was making sure about the timing, not that it mattered very much, but it would give her time to drop off her books probally. The students were all in the hall and passing by watching them talk and the students whispered to one another. It was odd seeing Snape speak to a student outside the classroom and he wasn't getting onto her for anything.

Snape shook his head. "Thirty minutes after your last class," he spoke, giving the whispering students a glare. "That way you have some..down time," he explained, and walked off. He didn't want to continue a conversation with her, because he'd only become more friendly.

Luna smiled and then went on to her common room since potions was her last class for the day. She danced all the way there and people looked at her funny though she didn't care. She actually though her potions teacher, Professor Snape, was not only mysterious but also sort of...good looking.

(30 minutes later)

Snape stood outside his classroom and saw Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle approach. They smirked and they started talking.
"Luna Lovegood?"Crabbe stared.
"But why?" Draco groaned. Goyle was off to the side, chuckling.
"Loony Luna ... " he muttered, laughing. Snape walked up behind him and smacked him upside the head.
"Shut up, you fool," he growled, and turned to face the others. They grew silent, just like Snape wanted.

Luna appeared in capri's, a t-shirt, and had her shoes in hand while she walked barefooted to the potions room.
"Hello, Professor" Luna smiled obvisouly ignoring Malfoy and his gang like usual. "Hey Luna, what are you doing here?" Malfoy asked as Crabbe said "Yea arn't you supposed to be in..." Just then a girl with red hair and bright green eyes walked over to them "Hey Luna" the girl spoke "Oh hey Rose, how are you?" "I'm fine and you?" "I'm good too, are you here for the extra study on myth creatures and potions?" "No, not really, I haven't even heard of it before. I came to pick up my books I needed and see what you were up to" Rose stated simply smiling. Rose was the type of girl that you didn't want to mess with. Her mother was rich and her father not only a lawyer but had a family that went waaaay back known as "The hunters" that hunted down dark wizards. So they had enough knowledge and strength on their hands.

Snape looked at Luna and grunted, then lead the students down the hall, to a empty, golden room. "Here, you will be seeing and controlling whatever creatures I bring in today, with certain spells and potions," Snape explained, pointing to the covered cage in the corner. The cage was rattling, and something inside was growling.

Luna pulled Rose along and it seemed that when Crabb and Goyle had left Malfoy followed them as well. Luna watched dreamlessly thinking 'Oh, I wonder what could be in there' she seemed to like the mystery in the cage while Rose just watched and listened to the headmaster thinking 'I wonder if I should say something or stay quiet to him about it?' though she wasn't perticularly thinking of the professor, just someone else that it. 'Wonder what everyone is thinking' malfoy thought to himself.
