William had soon enough gotten to change the darkroom for his guest. He had cleared the table of chemicals, put up a bed in the room with proper beddings of course. Soon enough it was just like any other bedroom, except that this room was quite a bit smaller, but it had no windows at all. Which would be perfect for Roderick.

Right when he was finished the sun had set and William decided to wake his guest up. With a firm knock on the door he made clear that Roderick was wanted. "Roderick, wake up. It's past eight now, it's safe for you to come out."

The vampire's eyes shot open and he sat up. His mind raced for a moment, trying to remind him exactly why he wasn't in his usual cramped living space listening to vermin scratching through his walls. This was a much nicer place with a soft bed he could spread out in, night stands, paneling, a general lack of debris... The footsteps stopped just outside of the door and then came the sound of a solid knock. William, that was right, he had invited Roderick to stay here...

Groggy, he stood up and wandered toward the door. The scientist was very thoughtful to wait until after sunset to wake him. Roderick didn't know what he would do if he had expected to do tests the first night he stayed over. Certainly he would be released to feed during this time? Was that what the wake up call was about? He opened the door, only his hair seemed to be disheveled since they last parted company. "I apologize for making you wait so long. Thank you for understanding my position."

William smiled up at the man who looked like he just woke up. "It's fine, it's fine." he promised the man. "I've been doing a bit of research and slept most of the time. Don't be surprised if I take onto your habits of sleeping." he stated. "I just wanted to inform you that it was night and that your new room has been readied. It may smell a bit of chemicals, but I can't vent it properly."

William would tell the other later he had gotten some animal blood from the butcher's. He wanted to keep Roderick indoors so he may know the man more personally. Smiling he stepped back and nodded. "So, if you would freshen up and get dressed you may see your new room."

"Chemicals aren't a problem" Roderick smiled a little and stepped back into his temporary room "it won't take me long, thank you."

Roderick didn't close the door, instead he stepped to where he was out of William's line of sight and straightened his collar and hair. Once finished he washed his face and hands with the washing bowl left in his room by the servants the night before. Moments later he was at the doorway again, ready to settle into his new accommodations. "Have you had any discoveries yet? About... my condition, that is."

William smiled a little and bowed his head politely. However when the other was cleaning up William moved over to one of the painting that hung from the wall in the hall and started to polish the frame with his sleeve a bit. He had nothing else to do. When his friend stepped back out he turned and smiled once more. "No, not yet. But we might find out soon enough." he said. "First things first. My knowledge about your kind hasn't been my favourite subject. So...I need any information that you know and my books know. Sadly I only have very horrid vampire novels in my library that doesn't tell any facts at all...."

(I apologize for the ridiculously long delay. There really isn't any good excuse for why I didn't have the time to sign onto Mene and explain that I was going to be busy. I should have, and I apologize for not.)

Roderick was only barely able to keep his physical person from jumping. He wasn't comfortable with a human calling him what he was, though he had pretty much fessed up to it. Ideas were reeling in his mind about how his former roommates might treat this situation and it made him shudder. "I'm certain they paint a far more grotesque image than you'll find me. I won't tarry long in the new accommodations if you'd like to ask questions."

The vampire's eyes moved from one picture to the next, still investigating the facilities where he was to be housed. As the pair moved toward the room without windows he found himself falling in step with the scientists, usually something he did when following his prey.

William's green eyes moved over the other as they walked. Quietly he made his way to the room Roderick would stay in. S hte other spoke he simply nodded and slightly shrugged. "Take your time. I'm about to have my medication first. How about we meet in the library in an hour? That way you can get accustomed to your new surroundings and I can have my medication without any difficulty." he stated.

When he didn't hear the other's footsteps the man seemed to shrink in size. Apparently he was very conscious of his surroundings and he seemed to feel when there was danger about. "I'd rather not have you walk the same way as I do, if I can't see you." he stated softly, more mumbling than anything else. Once arriving at the room he opened the door and lit some candles. "There..."

Roderick was startled out of his growing trance by the murmur. Of course he should be more mindful of his previous behavior and do his best to prolong any untidy ends that might come to the good doctor! Just think of what he could do for him? "Of course, I suppose that is unnerving, isn't it? Considering what I've divulged... Very well, I'll do my best to keep that from happening again. After all, you've done your best to keep me in comfort; it would be rude of me not to do what I can in return." He started to smile, but covered his mouth with his hand and quickly straightened his face.

Doing his best to keep from making an impish reply, Roderick stepped into his new abode and gave the man a bow. "I'll be in the library in about an hour." The rich chemical smell was definitely there, but it was interesting and not exactly repulsive. It was curious, thrilling. Roderick looked over his shoulder at the faintly illuminated room and added softly "I remember my way."

William had smiled at the other's rather sweet comment. He gave a nod that he had heard it. Thank lord the corridors were tad dark, for he had been blushing. The vampire was sure polite and rather thoughtful. For some strange reason William felt his heart beat harder and louder, at least he thought it was. Sighing again he pushed his glassed higher onto his nose bridge before he turned to the other.

With a small nod of the head William moved back to the door. "Feel free to explore everything. I hold no secrets, at least, not in this room." he chuckled before he left, closing the door softly.
Only to move to his study for his medicines. One could not tell, but William himself was quite ill. Perhaps the reason for why he worked at home and did research for others and himself. The man suffered from hallucinations, high fevers, chills, sore joints and migraines. At least he did when he did not take his medicines. The pills and fluids would make him slow and a bit high, but it would keep him safe for his insanities.

There was a clicking sound as the door closed. With it stopped the faint pulse of the scientist's heart which Roderick hardly noticed considering the rest of his senses were straining to learn this new room. It was perfectly dark, and what light that did spill into the room was diffuse and easy on his eyes. Roderick felt the sheets on his bed, the cool porcelain wash basin, and the wood of the various pieces of furniture. The chemical smell was a melody of spills long scrubbed away, and seemed to change as he progressed through his inspection of the room.

As his host had said, there were no secrets Roderick could find in his room. It was neatly made and without a locked drawer in any of the cabinetry. The vampire did not take William's comment to be a challenge, and only searched his new room for anything that he might not have seen before, or on the off change there might be something he could idle about with, like a nail file or a book, laying about.

After William had taken his medicines he moved to the library. He was indeed slow and drowsy, which was rather obvious, for he was swaying from left to right. His glasses had sank to the tip of his nose as he entered the warm room and allowed himself to fall into a chair near the fire place.

Even though there was a little time, William found himself falling asleep. Taking medication and having to adjust to such an odd sleeping pattern did not do the man well. Before he knew it he was huddled up in the emerald leather high ear chair, sleeping soundly, forgetting that there was a guest who needed his help.

Roderick's stiffly opened the door to the library, stepped in- already turning- and shut the door behind him. Inside the fire's warmth baked the room comfortably, and the smell of old, well loved books (a few of which also carried that distinct chemical scent he had been exploring earlier) lingered as he carried himself away from the entry. He grinned a little at William's sleeping form took up a cozy chair beside the fireplace. Was he really that trusting? But he should be, he knows I need his help if I ever want to do anything ever again. Anything but kill, that is. Roderick mused.

Gently he lowered himself down into a nearby armchair and watched the slumbering biologist for a few moments, wondering various things about him: What was he interested in if not money? Why was he living here alone? None of the questions were very deep. He speculated that he had a taste for the bizarre, and that attributed to his lonely lifestyle... and why Roderick's worried friend would have known to suggest him. All the same, he was tired of waiting on him to wake up on his own accord.

A flat hand patted William's shoulder. "It's not that late now, Sir. Perhaps a nap is better suited to the daylight hours, hmm?"

William slowly came to when the other touched his shoulder so gently. Slowly he looked up at the other before he rubbed his eyes and nodded. "I'm sorry." he yawned as he sat straight. "My medications make me drowsy sometimes." Slowly he reached out to the small table and picked up his pen and notebook.
Slowly William began to wake, eventhough he still looked exhausted. "Alright...Now let's see here. I did a bit of research on Vampires...However the data I used is old and things might have changed. So, can you please tell me everything you know about vampires and what you want to change about yourself?"

Roderick returned to his seat and brushed imaginary lint from the legs of his trousers. There hadn't been any there, but he felt it made him look a hint more sophisticated by being fussy over whatever tiny particles had clung to him while rousing the doctor. He insisted that the biologist's dozing was quite alright when he apologized, and let on that he gave him a short time to make the nap more fruitful.

"Everything, sir? The vampire frowned. "I'm not sure I quite know everything there is to vampires, myself, but I certainly won't keep anything from you that I do." From there Roderick went on to make a detailed list of life as a vampire. The manner in which most vampires hunted, the improvements to his strength and senses. He explained away garlic, silver, crosses and the entire matter with bats. Finally time came for him to bring up the varying effects of sunlight.

"Most troubling is the sun. Older vampires, or I suppose those closer to the original vampires have more liberty with sunlight. I haven't seen it for myself, obviously, but I heard that the oldest can travel by day and... that is what I want. I don't want to die of exposure when I set out for the library or museum... God forbid travel any matter of distance."

During the very detailed explanation his companion made, William nodded to everything he understood. When he didn't quite catch something, he'd ask about it until he managed to understand it fully. Of course the scribbling of his pen on the paper hardly ever stopped. William made sure he was documenting everything in the correct order and with the right words, so he didn't need to rewrite everything afterwards, perhaps only add a few things here and there.

As the other came to the subject of the sun, William took a brief break for pushing his glasses higher up his nose again and flexing of fingers. Briefly he seemed to sink away in thought. "I see." he nodded. "I do have a bit of information about sun-allergies on Humans...But I've never come across a vampire, who wants to venture out into the sun. But, tell me. Were you born a vampire, or were you turned to one? " it was a rather crucial question, which William hardly asked, for it could bring back painful memories to his patients, but he felt that it was necessary in order to come closer to a solution for him.

"I was born a human." Roderick said, taking a moment to straighten his cuff. "It wasn't a pleasant conversion at all, gruesome in fact, and I'm very glad not to have to go through it again." The vampire looked thoughtful for a few moments, clearly deciding that the tail end of this interview should best be handled as a conversation between peers rather than patient to doctor. "Come to think of it I don't know if I could name a single vampire that was born that way. I not wholly certain that is possible, but then again as far as we go I am still rather young." He smiled up at William "And I have much more to see, but should I ever meet one I might point them your direction."

Roderick rested his hands back on the arm rests of his chair and leaned back comfortably. "I asked to be turned, if you're curious. Immortality sounded like a much better option than growing old."

William jotted everything down, until there was a rather short pause, which politely asked the good man to stop writing and look up at the other. Seeing that smile with those pearly white teeth made the man smile as well. William eased into his chair as well before he simply nodded. "That would be most friendly of you." the man nodded before he put his little notepad aside and rested his elbow on the armrest and rested his cheek in his hand.

"How that so?" he asked softly before he just looked at the other with half lid eyes. Sleep was catching up with him again and it was rather obvious. Eventhough he was rather tired, the doctor tried so hard to stay awake, just to hear the vampire talk, see him act and most of all still his own curiosity about the strange race that sat across him. He knew that if Roderick wanted to do wrong that he could kill him.
But that thought wasn't terrifying to William at all. "I have to be frank with you. If I had the option to get healthy again, I'd take it....My body grows so weary of everyday chores...It starts to be a pain for me."

Roderick gave the doctor an appraising look for a long moment then nodded. He wondered what exactly William considered the 'healthy' option out of those choices he made, but he shook the thoughts away when the vampire noticed the drooping lids of his company.

"How does the conversion take place?", Roderick started to speak softer, "Perhaps that is a detail I should share at another time... I've already kept you up for quite some time, and I've lost track of the hour. It might do us both good to rest a while." Despite suggesting leaving, Roderick was remaining quite firmly in his seat, watching William's eyes fight with exhaustion and gravity. "Honestly, I've waited this long to find a cure for the sensitivity, I honestly don't mind taking more time to see it that the man who gives me that cure has a decent night's rest."

Sighing softly he looked at Roderick. When the man's voice became softer, William felt himself starting to doze off. Slowly he huddled more into his seat, his free hand hidden in the warmth of the chair and his own body as his shoulders slightly sank down and finally his eyes fell shut. He had not heard the last sentence properly at all. He had only heard half of it before he sank into a deep, but well earned sleep. Dawn was already creeping in. However the heavy curtains blocked out any kind of light from the outside world.
