Zale sighed slightly glaring down at the prince then spoke only so he could hear. "Do you want us to get found out? We don't have legs Prince... and now look what you've done!" he hissed before then looking sorrowful and hung his head down. "I'm sorry Prince. I just worry so much about you and I can't stand the thought of you in danger." He looked at the Prince with guilt in hie eyes but never removed his arms from around his waist. Only did he glance up at the female sighing deeply again regretting his actions. Zale had a short temper when things involved the Prince's safety. "Forgive me?" he asked looking down at him pleading.

Rave took a deep breath and looked at Zale. "you are forgiven...." then he turned to the girl, "everything is find miss. I was just taken by surprise, that's all."
He waited until the girl had left and then looked back at his guard. "You can move your arm now. she's gone..."

Zale let out a sigh of relief as his head drooped more relieved the girl was gone. "Thank you" he grinned looking down at Rave. With a brief moment of him looking like he was contemplating what the Prince said he only smirked. "And if I did I wouldn't know what you would get yourself into. You don't seem to like me much as your personal body guard." he said with a pout his brow creasing slightly in frustration.

Rave sighed and then pushed himself back intot the water. He didn't want to get into anything like this, not right now. The prince swam towards home quietly.

Zale groaned, the Prince was no fun lately. With a few cursing words out of frustration the body guard swam behind Rave keeping his distance. At least he was going home so Zale quietly sang to himself.

Rave kept swimming, listening to his guard sing. Eventually he stopped and looked at Zale. "You're on the wrong pich... the song sounds terrible like that," he stated bluntly. He waited for Zale to correct himself before moving forword again.

Zale blinked when he got corrected. It made him grin that the Prince wasn't ignoring him. "Then why do you sing it, Rave. You are the one who sings all the time." he said with a chuckle teasing him again. The bodyguard could never stay in a bad mood long when he was with Rave.

Rave smiled, he loved to sing and he loved it when others asked him to sing. The prince began singing the tune in question and sang beautifully without missing a beat or a tune. Once he was finished, he smiled and looked at Zale for his opinion.

Zale adored the Prince's singing so he couldn't be more overjoyed when he heard his enchanting voice. With a gentle smile he swam back next to Rave. "You made me sound like something was dieing. Like always it was perfect." he said before swimming towards the palace at his pace. Didn't want the Prince to see the light blush that stained his cheeks. That smile of Rave's was his weakness.

Rave's smiled grew even bigger as he heard his compliment. He knew he was a great singer, but he liked hearing it from others, especially Zale. The prince swam after him and they soon got to the palace. Rave started to swim up to his room when he heard his father's booming voice call his name.
"RAVE! GET BACK HERE! WE NEED TO TALK!"
Rave stopped and turned slowly, gulping as he did so. He slowly swam to the room his father was in.
"Rave! Didn't i tell you i was officially making you Heir to the Thrown today?!"
"Um.... noooo?"
"Yes i did! don't lie to me!"
"yes father.... you see... i was... thinking this morning and i decided i should go for a swim.... while doing so i came to the realization that.... idon'twanttobeking," Mumbling the last bit, rave's shoulders went up as if someone was about to hit him. Silence filed the room for a good 10 minutes before his father spoke.
"Son, you need to be heir to the thrown. Don't worry, i'll find you a worthy wife that will help you in tough times."
"But Dad! that's the thing! i'm only 16! i'm not ready for all of this!"
"What do you propose i do then?"
"I don't know! Find a 'worthy' husband for one of my sisters and give him the task! Or, let me be on my own for a year or two. let me experiance the world without worries."
Rave's father thought about this and finally said, "I'll let you go on your own for a year. but you must take Zale with you! I can't afford you dissappearing or being killed. understand? now where is it that you would like to go?"
"To the top. I want to live with the humans."
"Then so be it..."
Rave smiled and swam happily to his room.

Zale felt quite bad for the Prince when his father started yelling, it even intimated him. Either way he swam to the Prince's room knowing very well he would have to listen to anything Rave said. So in great amounts of joy Zale opened the doors to the Prince's room and took over his bed. He loved the bed, it smelt like Rave and was so much more comfortable then his. He didn't know how long the discussion would last but he would make the most of it. And making the most of it was him dozing off. The bodyguard was exhausted. Never expected this job to be so tiring.

"Oh my god! did you hear that??? we're going to the surface for a year!!!" Rave was so excited that if he let go of his controle over it, he would 'squell'. He had nothing to pack. just wanted to brush his hair real quick and get out of here. Then he noticed his bodyguard falling asleep. He swam over and gentilly laid not right beside him, so that he didn't wake the man. The prince's face tinted pink as he blushed from the thought of spending a year alone with Zale. And he looked into his guard's closed eyes, not entirely sure why.

Once Zale had fallen deep enough into his sleep he woke with a startle and quickly sat up. It wasn't right to be sleeping when he had to watch the prince. Looking around he quickly laid his eyes upon Rave causing him to let out a sigh of relief and slowly lay back down. This time he laid so he was looking back at Rave on his side. "So what did your father say?" he asked not hearing what was said before. Zale was quite a deep sleeper.

Rave smiled, knowing that this would be the case. He turned so that he was on his back and looking at the cieling. "You and I are going to be living with the humans for a year," he repeated. Rave was so excited and he looked back at Zale, smiling still.

"Then what are you waiting for. Lets get ready. I thought you really wanted to go there." Zale said curious as to why the prince didn't wake him. Either way he quickly got up and held his hand out to Rave to help him. "I hope we can get along for a year as humans." he said smiling back laughing a little.

"I was waiting for you...." he said, a little upset that Zale couldn't see that. then, being pulled up, he smiled. "i'm sure we can get along. We've gotten along since we were kids... remember?" Rave swam down to where his father was. The King did the spell on the two and told them they had 30 minutes before they would gain feet and loose the ability to breath underwater. Once his father was done, Rave took Zale's hand and started swimming towards the piece of land they found earlier.

"You could of woke me..." Zale muttered for once defeated by the prince's words. In the end he followed Rave to his father hiding all his anticipation acting like a guard he was supposed to be. Had to be on his best behavior, a dull time for him. That was till Rave was holding his hand, it amazed Zale at first till he tightened his grip a little and swam along side him. He was quite excited to have a pair of legs, but the not being able to breath underwater was a major downer. Zale loved the sea. "You ready for this?" he asked looking over at Rave.

Rave grinned, "I'm as ready as i can be i guess." They reached the surface and pulled up onto the beach. It had been only 25 minutes and Rave sat and waited, keeping his tail in the water. He pressed his lips together in excitement.

Zale chuckled and laid back in the water so only his face was above the surface. "Why don't you sing to pass the time before you hurt yourself from being too excited. I would sing but I'm always out of tune." he said with a chuckle putting his arms behind his head. He was much more calm and relaxed then excited.

The prince smiled and sang an older song that was well known to the merfolk. It had a mixture of up beat tempoes and a bit of a slow tempoe to it as well. this made the time go by quick and the next thing they knew, they had feet.

Zale listened to the prince's singing with a gentle smile, it was always calming and he really liked it. That was till he looked down and he had a pair of legs with feet. Now distracted he poked one of his feet out of the water and wiggled his toes. He couldn't help but laugh a little at how weird it felt. "What do you think?" he looked over to Rave referring to his new feet.

Rave bit his lower lip, keeping the smile that he's had for the past half hour. He laughed and did the same with his feet, only under water. He then felt his legs with his hands excitedly. they were smooth, toned and stronge. He then felt something that he didn't have before... not as a mermaid. A puzzled look came to his face.

Zale was laughing merrily in his enjoyment of being able to move his legs in so many positions. He looked over at Rave only to be confused himself at the look he had. "What is bothering you Rave?" he asked using his real name instead of prince now. hey would be spending a year together in a foreign place. It made his mind wonder to how these foreign creatures lived like the girl who was on the beach.

Rave, without answer, wondered if Zale had the same thing or if it was just him because he was prince. The boy reached over without warning and touched him. "So you have one too... what is it???" he asked, moving his hand away.

Zale let out a slight whimper mixed with a cry as he jumped out of the water only to come crashing down. Which soon made him realize they couldn't breath underwater. Now sitting up coughing out water he looked at the prince not caring that he was blushing. "...I'm as clueless as you but please don't do that again..." he mumbled moving his wet hair out of his face.
