Sailing Hearts
the title is supposed to be like...a pun. sailing as in sailing, but also said kinda sounds like selling? so..yea >.>
The ocean had a certain pull that draws out men. Like how the moons draws out the waves in the middle of night, controlling the tides. Her blue beauty tugs at the hearts of the mis-fortunate, and the adventure savy. A young man headed a small ship, manned by this man alone. All of his crew had either died, or were caught, leaving the man alone. He set sail out into the massive sea, going in no direction at all. He needed to water, yearned for it. At this moment, he was anchored, and he stood over with a fish pole, while a net was laid out on the other side. He sat there a moment, just thinking of nothing, and hearing the water. In the distance he swore he could hear the blow hole of a whale, their massive majestic bodies dancing beneath the water. What he wouldn't give to live there... |
(Which is funny because squid have three of those! c: hearts that is. I LIKE SQUIDS ALOT CAN YOU TELL
AND CUTTLEFISH(more like cuddlefish)) A rather rare creature sawm in the same waters--A squid.Yes, a squid. But also a man.Half cephalopod, half man. his hair was a peachy strawberry blonde, and his sun-kissed skin was covered with blotches of the light red and peachy white that made up the colors of his lower half, along with many, MANY freckles. his eyes were a soft tan, and when he grinned you could see a rather adorable gap between his front teeth. Well, this curious beast got a bit too curious swimming around a small ship, and--got caught in a net. Well, crud. How was he going to get out of his now?His tentacles and his arms got tangled up in the ropes the more he struggled to get out..One thing was certain: He would not give up.No calamari for anyone would be made tonight, not if he had something to say about it! (Kinda short, but gets the point across. NIELE YOU ARE SILLY) |
The captain of the ship removed his pole, having no luck there, and went into his cabin. He looked at a map that he had lighted, and was hopeful in looking for treasure. It didn't seem as though it were possible, only tales, so he sighed, defeated, and walked back out. Perhaps he had luck on the net? Walking over to a handle, he began to crank it, and so the net lifted. It was a little heavier than usual, and when he pulled the wet thing over the boat and dumped it, he saw why. There on the floor of his ship was a large creature, light in color. IT had the fleshy upper body of a man, yet below the waist it was all tentacles. The captain of the ship collapsed, astonished by the view before him. "Am I halucinating?" he asked, rubbing his eyes. It didn't work. The creature was still there, tangled in the mess. But Goya sat still, not moving to help. He was...Unsure. |
The creature squeaked in fear and pain as he landed on the deck, and saw the red haired man staring back, he tried to get away, but no luck.He was still tangled, and he definately wasn't going to ask this man for help, he had just captured him!And he knew what happened to the little squid that got caught by fishermen..He would have shot ink at the man or something, but he lacked that organ in his body, as he was not fully a squid, obviously. his four arms--two human, two tentacle-- trited their best to untangle each other, but only made it WORSE. He didn't seem dangerous, just scared for his life..Very, VERY scared. He cried out, and eventually tired, sitting there tangled up in rope. "Please don't kill me.." He said rather quietly, looking back to the man that had captured him.
|
[CENTER]He watched in awe as the creature wiggled and tried to get out, clearly terrified. He couldn't help but continue to stare, the creature looked so odd. He was half fish and half man. He heard stories of mermaids, but never have they looked like him. Finally, he shook his head out of his trance and took out a knife, coming over, when he paused.
He needed money. And this fish....man....thing, practically came out of nowhere, as if he were a blessing. He thought a moment, then walked away, getting a bucket and filling it with water, then dumped it on him. "I'm sorry, but I am going to have to keep you.." he told him, picking him out of the net, but holding onto the human part of him. He needed to get him somewhere he wouldn't escape from. He began to wet the ground, and dragged him. |
The man whimpered a bit as he was dragged off, and tried desprately to cling to the deck with his tentacles, having to stop and cling onto another spot for fear this man would pull so hard one of his tentacles would rip off. "I-I'm a person! My name's Niele..Please don't eat me.." He said desprately, trying to get away. even being stuck in that net was better than this!
|
Goya pauses a moment to look down at his legs, then swooped up his arms beneath them so the only thing they could cling to was him. "I'm not going to eat you, I promise..." he told him, taking him down and putting him in an empty barrel. "I need to get you in water..." He wasn't about to admit that he was going to sell him as a pet. Besides, he figured he wouldn't even know what a pet was.
|
Niele's lower body was quite large, and he was almost entirely squished into one big mass in order to be in the barrel. He pouted, trying to squirm out with no luck.Great, first net, then human arms, now this thing. He huffed, crossing his arms and flicking water at Goya with his wet strawberry blonde hair.
(I probably should have mentioned Niele's lower half is quite massive BEFORE he got shoved in a barrel, but I didn't think it was needed to be said! 8D; his colorscheme IS based off THE LARGEST KNOWN SQUID IN EXISTANCE) |
(They can't reduce size like Octopus?) Goya sighed and leaned back, hands on his hips. He moved backwards, avoiding the water. "Niele..That's a rather nice name..." he mused. "I'm Goya. I'm sorry, but...Can you please just....come to the main land with me?" He was going to try and gain his trust, then slly him. |
(I don't think so..If you're curious, if he stood on the ends of his arm tentacles Niele would be like 11'. on his leg tentacle tips, he's 8' or so, possibly shorter, I don't know the exact comparison between the average squid's 'arms' and their leg tentacles.)
Niele, being rather naïve, began to believe him. "..Alright..I undersand what it's like to be alone, you need a companion right?" He smiled cutely."I ahve 4 arms, so if I can stay wet, I can help your ship, unless you're okay with that.." (..Unfortunately, his brain is apparently not porportionate to his size..) |
(Wish I could see a ref of this cutie :) ) Goya was surprised that he was so easily swayed, but he nodded, keeping up the act. It was true, though, he was lonely and would want a companion, but probably not from a weird...squid man. "That would..be wonderful.." he said finally. Then he cratched the back of his head. "You probably want out of there, then..Sorry, I just didn't have anything else to put you in." |
(Have I mentioned the giant silly gap between his top inscisors? it's adorable. XD He's not a very intimidating squid at all.And..His blonde shows!Veeery ditsy obviously..)
"Uh, yeah, actually, my lower half is far too big for this.." Niele said, trying to squirm into a comfortable position with no luck. "Wait, are you a pirate?" He gasped rather cutely. "I've never met a pirate before! How interesting.." (My mers are getting stuck in small containers a lot lately.. XD First Kano now Niele. well, Niele got stuck in it first, but now Niele's discovered that he's not getting out.) |
The pirate scratched at his face, needing a shave, and thought. He sighed and walked over, breaking the barrel and getting him out. He didn't have anything to keep him in the water with, but if he was going to gain his trust, he couldn't exactly put him in any discomfort. "Well.....I...." he sighed. "I can put you back in the water, if you follow..." He wasnt' sure if he would, but it was worth a try. The man...creature...said that he understood about needing companionship. Goya smiled, shaking his head a little. "Yes, I am a pirate. I didn't think you would know what one was." Indeed, he was shocked. |
"If you keep me fairly wet I can walk around just fine up here.." Niele smiled happily, putting his hands behind his back, leaning his rear backwards and his front forwards, as if he were leaning over, curiously staring at the other male. "I know lots of things, when I relax near your big ships. And mama taught me some things..Long time ago though." Niele relaxed on the deck, his tanned skin and light red tentacles shimmering in the moonlight.
|
Goya had to say, he was pleased that he offered to stay on the boat. He was amazed that he could stand, even without human legs. It just went to show how strong he was, and that made Goya a little nervous. He was sure if the creature wanted, he could use those suckers to tear off his skin. "I'll try my best to keep you wet." he said, sitting next to him, watching him under the moonlight. He was entranced. He didn't look like mermaids from legend, what with their colorful fish tails and majestic movements, the squid-like man was just as beautiful, and would sell well to a rich man wanting to acquire exotic creatures. |
Niele giggled. "Thanks!" He grinned, revealing that silly gap. He 'stood' and hugged Goya, with his human arms only, his legs supporting him up to the height of about 6'4'', the rest of them curling up rather cutely for balance. "You're a weird pirate, Goya. I always heard of ruthless scarred up humans with big beards and eyepatches, wooden poles for a leg..But then again that was from one of Mama's tales." He let out that bubbly giggle again, letting the man go.Even his upper half was fairly strong, and could probably stronger if he wanted to be.
|
Goya blinked up at him as he stood, clearly the creature was taller than him. Not by much, but taller none the less. Hesitantly he returned the hug. His golden eyes rolled when he informed him of his mother's stories and he shook his head, moving to sit down. "Some do, but I don't...I never grow facial hair." he informed him. He had a little bit of native in his blood, which helped greatly in that area. Despite what he was going to use to squid like boy for, he had to admit he was cute, appearance as well as personality.
|
"Actually that's a lie." Niele said, rubbing his hand across Goya's chin. "You are right now." He laughed. "I can't grow hair anywhere but my head, lucky me." He said, sitting beside Goya, his tentacles curling around each other, sort of fiddling with each other cutely, sticking eachother's suckers together lightly, which made rather cute popping sounds when they separated.
|
Goya watched him and rubbed his own face. Was he really? That sucked. He felt the prickly hairs and sighed, sitting back. He listened to the little pop noises his suckers made, and they made him think of a child's play. He watched the red slimey things move and reached to touch, always loving the smooth feel of fish.
|
Niele blushed a bit when Goya seemed to want to touch one of his tentacles, adn he reached up one of his longer arm tentacles for Goya to touch, the ones with rather bulbous looking ends, helpful for picking things up.
With his anatomy and coloring being seemingly based off of a Colossal Squid, you'd think that he would have those claw-like spikes on these two tentacles, for catching prey, but he didn't, in fact his tentacles seemed rather gentle, despite that showing of strength they had made simply by him standing. He could probably lift Goya up if he wanted, with little to no effort needed, but he seemed to be a very gentle creature, who wouldn't even think of doing that, at least for malevolent means. |
In fascination the pirate's lips parted into a smile, and he gently stroked the hand like tentacle. It was so slimey and smooth, but different and inviting. Despite his species and obvious strength, Goya could tell that this was a gentle creature. He almost didn't want to sell him.
"You're....." he lost his words, shaking his head and putting the tentacle down. "Why are you so close to the surface?" He didn't know anything about fish, and so he had no idea they lived in the deep, but was sure that he's never seen someone like him close to the top of the water. |
"I like coming to the surface sometimes, to sing in the moonlight..I was looking for a shore or at least a rock or something..Then I saw your rope thing and I got stuck. You know where it went from there.." Niele said, scratching his head a bit, seeming embarrassed taht he had fallen for the pirate's trap, just like a little silly fish.
|
This was just getting better and better. "So, you sing?" he asked, even though he had just said he did. He shook his head and sighed. "Let me re-ask that. Do you sing well." Of course, now that sounded rude, but he wasnt' sure how else to respond. "I didn't intend for you to get stuck, since I didn't even know you existed. I'm just trying to make a living."
|
Niele nodded to the question, quite proudly. "I know you didn't mean to, I was just saying what happened.." He said, pouting a bit that Goya had thought he was being rude about the whole getting stuck in a net thing.
"I'll give you an example of my singing.." He said, before taking a deep breath, and beginning to sing. His voice was reminicent of stories of sailors being drawn in by sirens, crashing their boats on the sharp rocks..High pitched but lovely, a sound that was most likely overly alluring to lonely men that had been out on the high seas for years upon years. The song had no real words to it, he sang in only vowel sounds, sometimes it sounds like someone was using his vocal chords like a violin, with how high pitched he could get. |
The pirate listened in awe, lids closing half way. The sound was very pretty, and added to how much people would want this squid. He let his head rest in his hands as he listened, imprinting the sound to his memory, for no doubt the singing will turn into screams in tears whenever he realizes he's being betrayed. The knowing of what was to come made him sick, and he bolted for the edge of the boat and hurled what little contents of his stomach he had into the open ocean.
