Not us? Please don't post! :D

I thought maybe we could start off with some simple profiles for the two mains. I was thinking it'd make a more realistic heterosexual relationship.

Seeing as its my plot I figured you could choose whether you want to play the female (who would be in the relationship) or the male who would be the single one she would have an affair with.

Name: Amelie Romine
Age: 28
Personality: Slightly paranoid, stands up for herself (viciously if need be). Is the best friend you could ever have and would want her at your back if you're in a bind. Good listener and great with kids. Though, adults don't seem to like her much. Besides all this, she has a great personality, looks and charm....just not with people too much older than her.
Appearence:

Amelie sighed as she sat in the car with her boyfriend, James. "James...is your mother going to be talking about us again? It really is quite annoying." She looked at James as he drove to the meeting they were going to a couple days before the actual wedding. Where they were supposed to meet people in the family and close friends that were going to be in the wedding.

James checked his rearview mirror before changing lanes, today was the day Amelie met all of his extended family. His brother Matt was finally getting married, and with the two of them being close in age everyone in the family looked expectantly to them for another wedding in the near future. James and Amelie had been dating for quite a few years now and to the family that meant something.

"I wouldn't doubt it," he smiled, the thought of marrying Amelie was perfect to him, he couldn't see any other way his life could go in the next few years. "You know how she is." They were now nearing his brothers house, this wouldn't be all of the family but most of them, the next day they would all drive up into the mountains where the actual wedding would be held, James couldn't wait.

Amelie sighed softly and sort of sank into the seat. She could be a real pouter. "I don't know...I might not be able to restrain myself." Her voice was half joking, half serious. It's not like she didn't want to marry James, but she didn't like being pushed into things. Also, she saw it as her being manipulated. Just because someone dates someone else for a number of years, doesn't mean they have to marry.

She tried to push it from her mind. "Umm....since it's your brother...can't I just watch? Do I have to be in the ceremony?" It wasn't like she didn't want to be a bridesmaid, she adored Matt's fiance. She'd really only talked to her a couple times, but she knew instantly that she liked her. She just didn't really want to go through it.

James only chuckled as they turned up Matt's street, he could already see it would be difficult to park with all the cars lining the street. "Easy tiger." he joked, that was another thing he loved about Amelie-- she always had a feisty personality and even though she was annoyed with how his mom acted, they got along well for the most part.

He now pulled next to the house he had lucked out with a spot nearby. "Well I'll be in the wedding party, but you aren't..." he looked to her, he knew it wasn't her thing to be so involved. "But I mean you'll have to help out with setting up of course, and I think my cousin Marc is doing some amateur photography for them, he probably could use an assistant." He figured that she'd be a good help, and Marc was friendly enough even though he was pretty quiet. He unbuckled his seatbelt and leaned over to plant a simple kiss to her cheek.

"Ready?" he asked adjusting his dress shirt.

Amelie watched as they pulled up, with a small groan. She could be a little melodramatic sometimes too. She was very switchy. She couldn't help but grin when he called her tiger. It was something that always got her to be a little happier.

When he pulled up, Amelie blinked slightly. "Wow...this is pretty close. Good. Easier for me to escape." She threatened jokingly. When he kissed her cheek she resisted keeping him in the car with her. "Wait...I have to be your cousin's assistant? Ah...man..." She wasn't liking the working for someone she hadn't met before idea. That'd never worked well for her before, besides, she didn't want to offend anyone that James liked in his family. She sighed softly and nodded sligthly. She wasn't in anything fancy, she considered her tie and a skirt to be fancy enough. She hated dressing up, this was as far as she would go today. Besides, its not like it was the wedding day, she didn't have to dress up. She smoothed her skirt slightly, more nervous than anything else. "Sure." She said and gave him a small smile.

((She's wearing the outfit in her picture. With knee high black boots.))

James stayed back in the car, and gave his girlfriend an understanding look, "Am, I swear he's not a bad guy... besides its not like anything difficult, its just you know my brother doesn't have all the money in the world so its a way to help out." He pulled a stray hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear, "It's only going to be on the wedding day and at the reception, you are only going to meet him today, along with most of the family."

James could tell she was becoming nervous, this was a big step for them, the extended family was a big deal, and he really wanted them to like her and he was sure they would, but he could see she wasn't so sure of that. "You'll be great." he gave her one more charming smile before exiting the car and locking the doors. He held out his hand for her to take.

Amelie looked over at him when he spoke, then just nodded slightly. "Its not that I don't think its smart to have family work for you. I mean, shoot, its free." She smiled slightly. "I just don't know him is all." She loved the way he tucked her loose hair behind her ear. Another thought of keeping him in the car entered her mind.

She looked at him, knowing he knew she was nervous and gave up trying to hide it. "Ok...I hope I will." She would settle for ok, but great was always acceptable. She smiled lovingly back at him before taking his hand and stepping out of the car. Once they were out though, she glanced around. Then kissed him lovingly. When she pulled back, she had a small smile on her face. "I need something to keep my courage up."

James chuckled after she released him from the lovingly kiss, "You might have to better define 'something'" he said while pulling her into his arms closer and placing another kiss on her lips, he opened his eyes to reveal someone looking out the window at them, "Perhaps we should put this on hold at least until were not putting on a show for my family." he raised an eyebrow before laughing again.

He now led her up the stairs and knocked on the door, he squeezed her hand, James was so excited to have her meet his family. Matt quickly answered the door and gave James a big hug, "I'm so glad you guys could make it!" next he moved to Amelie who had obviously met before, and they had gotten along well he wasn't much older than James. "How have you been?"

Amelie just grinned at his first comment and kissed him back when he kissed her. She blushed softly when he said someone was watching. "Umm...yeah...later." She didn't like that his family had been spying on them, that made her embarrased and angry at the same time.

She took a deep breath when he led her to the door and smiled instantly when Matt opened the door. She liked Matt and was happy for him. She smiled happily and hugged him after he was done with James. "Hi Matt! I've been great. But I'm sure you're doing much better. You are getting married after all."

Matt laughed, "Well I guess you could say that, but truth be told I can't wait until its finished-- there is way too much planning to be done!" James brother was brilliant at pretending to be completely organized but really things were always done on the fly, and he knew how much that got under Matt's fiance: Julie's skin.

"Now you have extra help man." James said patting the back of his brothers back, "So this is your new place?" he gave Amelie a look that was impressed, "What do you think Am?" Matt led them inside, there was family members and friends scattered about talking as they entered. The house wasn't incredibly large but it was good size for two, and of course their dog Fred. The living room was decorated in a modern style that was inviting, he pulled Amelie farther inside to inspect it further.

- - -

Marc leaned against the kitchen doorway frame overlooking the living room drinking a beer Matt had made from scratch, a home brew he enjoyed making in his free time. It wasn't bad but nothing to go crazy over. He was beside his mother who was introducing him to an Anthropology professor that taught at a school of his interest for some time, and lucky for him she was on the committee that was accepting students.

In mid conversation the figures coming into the room caught his eye, one he recognized, James a cousin of his, it had been sometime since they'd seen each other but all the better it was someone else he could talk to. Behind him he brought a girl about his age, who was rather pretty in her own way but she dressed to stand out, he liked that.

Amelie had to laugh softly with him. "Man. I'd hate to have to plan a wedding...but, I think it'd be worth it when the ceremony comes. I'm sure you'll love it." She smiled warmly at Matt, truely happy for him.

She smiled at James and Matt, she did like the look of them together like that. Seriously wishing she'd had her camera out at that moment. "It looks nice." She said vaugely, though she really was rather impressed. She was dragged in with a small giggle from her throat.

When she came in, she got a better look and she smiled. "Wow...this really is a good place." She looked at Matt and gave him a thumbs up. "Good pick." She hadn't actually noticed Marc, too absorbed into looking around the house and staying relatively close to James at the same time. She was not going to be caught alone by someone in his family. She did feel someone watching her though.

James loved sharing this part of his family with Amelie, it was great that she got along so well with Matt, and Julie too. "Speaking of your fiance, where is she, you didn't loose her already did you?" he said nudging his brother.

Matt only laughed, "She's mingling somewhere, her college friends came by earlier and you know how girls are..." he gave them both a smile, "No offence Amelie." Matt did his best to be charming, he was a little more polished than James was.

"Shall we mingle?" James said with a look over to his girlfriend, they would have to get it over with at some point.

-- --

Marc watched out of the corner of his eye as she giggled and laughed and fell in so well with Jame's family. He had no desire to walk over and say hello, but there was a small pang of regret that he didn't bring someone to this wedding. He had been going solo to most events lately, but it only hurt more when he saw happy couples all about him.

Marc took another sip of his beer now clueing into the conversation once again, he thanked Ruth for considering him and promised her he'd put in an application as soon as he could. As much as he loved school, and really wanted a PHD, this was a great break for him and he didn't want to think about it much further.

Amelie chuckled softly at James' teasing of his brother. "Well, if she's hanging out with other girls, I'm good with staying with James here." She rolled her eyes at Matt playfully. "Yeah, cause I act like a girl."

When she heard James mention mingling she winced slightly, then slid over to Matt's other side, sort of hiding behind him. "I'd much rather hang with Matt." She looked hopeful, that James would let her, but she knew he wanted her to meet his family. Suddenly she was wishing she'd stayed in the car...or better yet not come at all.

"Am," he said with his trademark pout face, "I promise they won't bite, seriously some of them are nice... look there's Marc, and his mom, you'll love her!" James knew this because aunt Sue was his favourite and she always got along with everyone well, and well he knew he got along with Marc because they grew up together, and it was always nice to see a friendly face.

He scooped up her hand and squeezed it reassuringly, "You agreed to come here, and we can't just hang out with my brother all day." James tugged her across the living room so they were approaching the pair in the kitchen. He turned to smile at Amelie hoping she'd at least give this a shot.

--

It wasn't long after Marc had even thought about the pair that made their entrance that they began to approach him. Although from a distance he could the girl was unhappy to be here, this bugged him, what was wrong with his family? Sure he didn't like all of them most of the time, but they weren't THAT bad. Instead of addressing them with a smile he turned the other direction and gazed out the window, maybe they were going to approach someone else instead.

Amelie now looked very nervous and guilty. "James..." She couldn't think straight when he did that to her. She sighed when he pulled her across the room though, not even having time to make up her mind. "Marc...the one that's taking pictures at the wedding?" She asked as she was pulled along. She didn't really know who was who and assumed that the one that had just turned away was Marc. "Not that bad huh..." She muttered. He'd known they were coming over there, he turned away and was being rude. She didn't like rude people. This man didn't make a first good impression with her.

When they came up to them, Amelie looked a mixture of annoyed, confused and slightly nervous. "Umm...hello."

James nodded, Marc wasn't a photographer by career but it was an ongoing interest of his, and for free he was pretty darn good. He smiled as he approached his family, "Aunt Sue, Marc!" he greeted them.

"James, it's been so long! Oh who is this?" she said happily looking to Amelie, Sue was in her 50s now but she had a young spirit and often got along with all her nieces and nephews. "Marc, James is here!" she tugged on her sons arm who turned around reluctantly with a beer in his hand.

"Hey man," he said to James completely ignoring the girl that stood before him, Marc was too embarrassed to talk to the girl he was just thinking about two minutes ago.

"Is that Matt's home brew?" James asked, he always enjoyed beer, and often drank the more expensive kind, he had tried to educate Amelie, but he knew she really didn't care.

"Yeah, there's some in the fridge if you want." Marc pointed behind him, James took advantage of the situation and passed between them.

"I'll grab you one too babe, you'll love it!" James reassured her.

Amelie smiled politely at his aunt, then sort of gave Marc a glare. She didn't know why, but for some reason he was blatan;y ignoring her. She didn't like it at all. Once James was gone, not being able to tell him to wait. She looked at his aunt. "Umm...could I borrow your son for a moment?"

Marc almost spit out his beer at the girls question, why on earth would she want to talk to him, she hadn't even properly introduced herself yet. Of course his mother was more than happy to oblige, "Of course dear," she said politely, "I need to catch up with James anyway!" she went off to go talk to him about what he had been up to lately, and of course all the latest news.

Marc raised an eyebrow at her, not really saying anything but wondering what she could possibly want. "What's your name... again?" he asked simply.

Amelie smiled politely to his mother and thanked her. Then looked squarely at Marc once she was gone. "I'm Amelie, not that you were paying attention earlier." She looked rather annoyed now. "Now, I want to know why you did that. Turning away when you obviously saw that we were headed over here. It was a rather rude first impression."

Marc was mixed about his thoughts towards her, it did take guts to stand up to him that way, but it was also slightly annoying as well. "That's what you pulled me over for?" he asked completely baffled, "Who is to say I was in the middle of doing something else, I didn't even know you and your lover boy were walking in this direction in the first place." It was a lie, but he was good at lying and she wouldn't know the difference anyway, he couldn't understand why she even cared so much.

"If I were you, I'd care more about what the families impression of you is." She was the one trying to impress them all anyway, not him, he was part of the family already, and he didn't have to do anything to get this girl to like him, she had nothing to do with him.

Amelie first got madder at him, but soon something occured to her and she sighed and looked at her feet. "Shit." Was all she said for a moment, then looked back up at him. Her eyes no longer angry, but sort of tired. "I'm doing this for James...I'm trying to make him happy, not his family...personally, I could care less what most of them thought of me. But, I won't be rude to any of them unless they are to me first. That's just me." She then looked at him, like she was guilty of something. "I am sorry for getting angry at you...I don't really like being around a lot of people that I don't know. And the way you acted just pushed my buttons." She seemed to have completely flipped sides. Like switching from devil to angel in a heartbeat.

This girl absolutely confused Marc, did she really just change her attitude so quickly? "Right..." he said looking at her oddly before drinking some more of his beer. He didn't know what to tell her, he could be like everyone else and tell her 'its alright and everyone will love you, you have nothing to worry about.' But the truth was that he wasn't very fond of Amelie beyond her looks, and well he was part of the family so maybe she could set someone else off.

He could see James working his way back towards them, but he seemed to keep getting caught up with other family members, "Shouldn't you be next to James right now?"
