Silence. Ahh, silence. A best friend at times, when one is trying to concentrate on a subject; or perhaps reading a favorite novel. Sometime silence is golden, sometimes it is not. Silence, in this manor, did not come often. No, whenever there was silence, even for a few moments, it was broken by the gentle strums of an instrument, deep within the mansion hold. There, in the grand ballroom, stood a beautiful young woman. Raven tresses graced slender shoulders and stopped mid way down her back. Had her eyes been open, sapphire orbs would pierce the soul, as if seeing straight through the person. Her fingers were long and thin, with french manicured nails. Her legs were short, as well as her torso, and she reached five feet standing straight. Short, yes, but not without a tall person's sense of confidence and self-worth, and this personality could be sensed even by looking at her. Over confident, and prideful was she, this woman alone in a silent ballroom.
Her hands, smooth and unwrinkled, ivory in color, held a shimmering and sleek wooden instrument. A violin, to be exact. It was a gorgeous instrument itself, taken care of with delicate care. This woman took pride, again too much pride actually, in her talent of the violin. She had practiced for approximately one hundred years (100 years? But the woman's appearance would grant perhaps twenty-two years of age!) and would never stop playing her music. The silence of mere moments quickly broke as she brought the violin to her chin, and gently touched the strings with her fingertips to check their tightness and to see if the pitches were in tune exactly. Of course, they were. Her other hand, holding the horsestring bow, came up to join the violin.
A gentle thrumming of the note 'G' filled the room. As her fingertips danced along the strings, more notes joined the background G and soon the room was full of dance music. The music was uplifting, quick, but still gentle. The woman's fingertips flew across the strings as the pace quickened. Her hips began to move as well, as she was just getting into the rhythm of the piece, which happened to be an old Beethoven song.
An unwise, and new man to the manor, approached the music with curiosity. He did not yet know the rules of this place, and he did not know that interrupting the woman's music was strictly forbidden. He peeked his head into the room. The woman's eyes, which had still been closed, snapped open as his scent neared. Her fingers stopped abruptly, and the room was silent once more. Again, it would not last long. "What the hell...do you think you are doing!?" she hissed, spinning to face the man. Her eyes, though beautiful in color, were narrowed angrily. Her lips were drawn back, and her teeth were bared. Two were longer than the rest, the canine teeth. The man blinked, and stepped back, bewildered. "I'm sorry Mina! I didn't mean to stop you!" he cried, his own brown eyes wide and frightened. The woman, called by the name Mina growled deep within her throat and nearly tossed the instrument at the man. Luckily, she stopped herself. Never would harm come to this violin that she protected with her life. "Get out, you imbecile, get out now!" her voice was harsh, and it was evident that if the man did not do as she obeyed, she would tear him apart. Quickly he fled from the room, away from the furious vampire woman named Mina.
Now he would know to never interrupt this woman while she played, as everyone else already knew. He was foolish, and Mina would deal with him later. For now, she huffed and shook her head. He would soon learn to never cross this woman, to never underestimate the power of the short, yet cross, vampire leader. Yes, leader. This woman, who would think? , was the leader of this city. She controlled the vampires inside it, and it was not that she earned it. No no, her father had been the leader, and he had passed his power onto his undeserving daughter. She took it without hesitation, and pushed her ways onto all. Anyone that did not agree with her felt the wrath of her father. Mina smirked, pondering on how to teach this lesson upon the man, a new young vampire of her clan.

The streets. That's the place the blonde haired girl lived, and grew up. They taught her valuable lessons. First, never let your guard down. And second, be quick. Two lessons she lived her life by. Her golden, almost cat-like eyes scanned the streets in front of her, looking for any visible threats. The girl appeared to be in her early twenties, but that wasn't her true age. Not at all. This girl was fast, and strong. She also had a temper and a stubborn streak a mile wide. She wasn't alone, however, there was a small group surrounding her. She seemed to be the leader of this 'brigade', so to speak. She leaned more against the wall, folding her arms. She looked so innocent, but she was far from it. The people around her kept their eyes on her, waiting for her to give a signal of some sort. They were thieves of the night. And tonight was going to be a good night for them. The girl had been scoping the area they were headed for weeks, and was fully prepared. She knew the exits and the times the people were around. All she needed to do was wait a little longer... Just a bit and they'd be able to start. The area they were scoping was near the Vampire Leader's home. And the girl knew that. Oh, how she knew that. It was her plan to do it here, not only did the location have plenty of good things, she was also flaunting herself. Why would she be flaunting herself, one would wonder.
This was an easy answer. She was a vampire herself. She didn't look it though, with her Indian skin and heritage. But she was a vampire. And a good one. Better than current leader. And she was out to prove that. If she could make it out of here alive that was the final test of her own abilities. She already knew she was a good leader, she'd had the same group members for about fifty years. Which was long from a human's perspective, but was barely anything for one like her. But, it was a start. And she knew they'd follow her. But not blindly. She did not take sheep. They had free will and could leave at their own accord. And they knew it. She'd told every new member. She'd had a method to choosing as well. She picked poor or downtrodden people, but they had to be smart and fast. And she always gave them a test. Nothing too dangerous, but not too easy. Again, both mental and physical skill came into play. And the ones that passed were still with her. And they protected each other with their lives. That's how they were different. Most bands nowadays would fall to pieces at the sign of death. But not her's. And she prided herself on that.
She checked the area again, not worried at all. She wasn't prideful, just confident of what she knew. Not much longer now. Her eyes widened a tad with excitement. "How much longer, Angel?" the 'boy' next to her whispered. "Not long," she responded. Her voice was high and quite misleading. It sounded like a voice that belonged on a preppy, bubble gum chewing girl. Which was the total opposite of her. But, it was useful in situations where fighting was unavailable. She waved everyone to silence for a moment. The music she'd been counting on had stopped. She listened carefully, frowning. She heard yelling and rolled her eyes. She motioned everyone close. "We're going to have to be quieter than silent, until the music begins again," she murmured, almost too softly for even the vampires to hear.
Once everyone nodded, she motioned them forward, ghosting forward. The group mimicked her, knowing the danger of their location. The boy who spoke earlier ghosted to her side and pressed his lips to her ear. "Are you sure this is safe, Angeni?" he questioned. The girl, indeed named Angeni--Angel was her codename--shrugged. "It had been, not sure about now. Anyone who wants can always go back, but I'm doing this," she responded, not defiant, but confident. The boy nodded, knowing they were all going to do this. Angeni sized the building and jumped, landing silently on the balls of her feet. They'd all done this hundreds of times, and succeeded. Now was no different. She then scurried across the roof, still silent. She went to the chimney and hopped to the top of it. Once everyone else was up, she slid down it, curling herself into a ball. Once she hit the bottom, she rolled out and stepped away. Her ears tuned to the sounds around her, listening for any threatening sounds. Hearing nothing so far, she waited for her group to get down. The second the last girl hit the bottom, they got to work. They'd already been grouped before they came, to be efficient. She, the boy she called her second--the one that kept coming to her-- and two younger ones were taking the top level. Her second's second and a few of the younger ones had the second level. And her look out and the rest had the level they were on. They all knew that to listen for, any sounds of fighting or the code words. There were three. One for an approach, and one for the top two levels completing their looting.
Angeni headed the group going up, watching every stair carefully. She didn't want to make anymore noise than needed. Once they hit the top of the stairs, she motioned them in. "We should split up, to make it faster. I'll take the two largest rooms. You two," she pointed at the newer girls, "Take the two rooms closest to the stairs. And you, take the other room, Sec." Sec was her codename for her second. All her main older members had codenames, to make it easier, and less of a chance of someone outside of the group understanding them. With that, she headed down to the room farthest from the stairs and slid inside. She had a reasoning for that. That was the main bedroom, so whoever found them would go running up there first. A distraction tactic. She pulled out the cloth bag she had in her pants pocket and began filling it with any valuables she saw. She kept her ears tuned to everywhere around her. Her body was tensed for running, or fighting if needed. She also had a switchblade in her sleeve, spring loaded and a sheathed dagger in her boot. She knew while they couldn't kill they'd still slow her attacker down so she could go to her group mates or flee.
(Sorry I took so long. -almost killed her laptop- I thought I lost my post when it refreshed. D: I'd have died.)

Once she decided upon an appropriate punishment, it being the man forced to the victim finder (or, bringing people to the mansion for everyone to feed from. This required several people, but Mina thought he could do it on his own), she picked up her violin and began to play once more. The music filled the room again, this time it was harsh and daunting, a gothic piece she had found one day in the library. She didn't know the genius who wrote the piece, as all she could find was tattered sheet music, but it was rather brilliant. Fast paced and wonderful. She began to move her hips along with it, soon gliding across the floor and dancing to the tune.
Again, her music would be interrupted, but this time for a more pressing manner. "Mina!" called a woman from the ballroom entrance. She looked flustered, as if she had ran here. Mina turned to her and blinked in surprise, knowing that this interruption would go unpunished as something was happening urgently that required her attention. "There's looters in the mansion. You have to be protected, we'll fight them off." said the woman, and Mina obeyed. She rather liked the thought of being "protected" however, it made her feel important. "Where are they?" Mina asked, sniffing the air gently for a scent, though since the ballroom was secluded from the rest of the manor, she could not sense them. "Third and second floor, so far. Haven't seen anyone on the top floor, you should be safe there, in your bedroom. We'll have people guarding it, and your father will be here soon to help." Oh good, her father. He was the only reason she was leader, and Mina loved him more than anything.
Mina hurried after the woman, her violin and bow still in hand, up the stairs to the first floor. Here, she smelled again. Nothing, how odd. Then again, they were lower than she was, on the lower levels. Here, on the top floor, their scent hadn't reached yet. The woman urged Mina forward and she followed again, to the door of her bedroom. "Get inside, stay there. Men will be up in a moment to guard the door. Just sit tight." It was rather funny, because the woman helping Mina at the moment absolutely despised her and wished her dead, but she had to play nice and do as told whenever the Leader spoke. The woman fled and hurried back downstairs. Mina sighed and shook her head. "They better get this over with soon." she hissed, opening the door to her bedroom and stepping inside. Her eyes were focused on the ground, and she did not look up until she was inside and had shut the door.
Then, the scent of another filled the room. Mina's sapphire eyes snapped up and she another woman in the room, holding a bag that was now full with her own jewels and valuables. "Just what the hell do you think you are doing?! Get out! she hissed, fangs bared and stance shifting to a fighting pose. One, she was sure she could take. OOC ;; Ah, it's okay. I'm a little pressed for time lately anyway so I'm trying to reply quickly :gonk:

Angeni carefully piled her items into the bag, counting as she did. After a bit she heard the code word for an approach. She froze, assessing the situation. She listened closely. Frowning as she heard voices and footsteps heading her way, she threw a few more things into the bag and eyed the door. As the footsteps got closer to the window, she frowned. She glanced at the window, and then dismissed that idea. She couldn’t abandon her crew, she knew that. But, she was up here and they were down there. Still, she knew they could hold their own if needed. She spun, backing herself into the dressed, making sure to be close to the window. She kept the bag in the hand without the blade attached, waiting. She was almost excited to get caught and waited eagerly. She wanted to see just what this girl could do. So, her plan was changing, she could do this. She was strong, and fast. A street rat.
The footsteps seemed to be taking longer than she'd expected. They must have been father than she thought. So, she decided to make this interesting. She kept the bag in her hand and hopped up onto the dresser, still in a place where she could escape if she needed to, and crossed her legs. She kept her ears peeled and waited, curious. She knew the leader was going to have to attack her. Or, she would if she wanted her reputation to hold. And how Angeni wanted to take that reputation from her. The Vampire Leader defeated by a street rat. It'd kill her. And Angeni knew it. This was the moment of truth for her, because if she lost she'd be dead. There was no doubt about that. She was prepared for that though. She head the footsteps getting closer and grinned. 'Finally,' she thought, excited. She heard the footsteps reach the stairs, then they paused. She heard the footsteps start again, this time moving closer to the door. She waited, calmly. She knew she was in for a hell of a fight.
The door opened and Angeni grinned to herself. Angeni eyed the form that entered. It was a girl, and a pretty one at that. The Leader she assumed. She kept herself still and silent until the girl noticed her. She rolled her eyes when the woman snapped at her. "I know what I'm doing. What do you think I'm doing?" she responded, smartly. She hopped off the dresser, gracefully. She was average height, taller than the other. She looked amused and curious. "You want to fight me?" she asked, again letting her misleading voice help her. Her lips quirked up into a smirk as she took a few undaunted steps forward. She didn't particularly want to die, but winning and getting injured in the process was fine. "And I don't think I'll be getting out anytime soon, Miss," she replied, slowly and tauntingly. She enjoyed this, very much.
She bared her own fangs and flipped her wrist, raising an eyebrow when she heard the click of the blade. She stared at the woman, ready to fight. She walked forward a bit more, almost baiting her to take the first move. She looked confident, but not cocky. She was a tad worried, but right now it was one on one, so she'd be able to hold her own, at least.
