Logan couldn't believe how stupid he was when it came to this, it wasn't rocket science, "Sorry," he said quickly taking the controller back in his hands, this time he got it right, although he fumbled a bit while he did so. This was exposing the more humble side of Logan as he was actually asking someone for help which was rare, and he was showing his weakness.
Wyatt watched him closely, giving him helpful advice. He was glad to see that Logan was getting the hand of it, though it was taking a while. Video games were Wyatt's fortes, and they were one of the things Wyatt wanted to work on after he graduated.
After sometime Logan was getting the hang of it, and he had at least ran around and talked to people. But after sometime it came to the point where he'd need to do more than just talk to people, suddenly a monster appeared on screen and he didn't know what to do. His voice became urgent, "What's that thing?" it started to attack him, and he ran away but obviously he couldn't go far, "Wyatt, what do I do?!" he whined.
"Use the small red button to attack, with your sword," Wyatt replied, simply. He was glad he'd picked this game, since it was easy on beginners until the first chapter ended.
Logan became anxious as the monster kept attacking him and he pressed the red button as constantly as he could, to him this was stressful. Once it died he paused the game and leaned back on his hands, "How did you ever talk me into this?" it was clear to anyone that he was having a difficult time with this.
"Would you rather play a co-op game? Two players?" Wyatt asked, curiously. Wyatt was a master, seasoned gamer. He could play any game for the first time and be decent at it in less than twenty minutes.
Logan grew uncomfortable in his position so he moved himself so his stomach was on the ground and he was resting on his elbows. He looked over to Wyatt as he spoke, "I don't even know what that is..." he was truly defeated now, "How can you not sit there and laugh at me?"
"I don't find this funny," Wyatt muttered, arching an eyebrow. He leaned over and snatched his current obsession off of the top of his dresser, holding it out to Logan. It was his copy of the first Left 4 Dead. "This is for two or more people to play at a time. I can play along with you in this one, if you'd like."
Logan was intrigued by the fact that Wyatt wasn't interested in teasing him about this, he did however enjoy the look on his face, it was more playful than usual. He mirrored the playfulness by rolling on this back, he was now barely touching Wyatt as he reached for the game and flipped over the back, "More monsters?" he said not wanting to admit a bit of fear struck him every time he was attacked by something.
"Not 'monsters,' per se. Infected humans, who have adopted the attributes of zombies. It is meant as a zombie apocalypse sort of game," Wyatt hummed, watching the expression on his face as he spoke. He seemed to be a bit of a puss when it came to monsters in video games. Wyatt could change that, with a bit of training.
"So it's scary?" Logan said cautiously, this was one thing he hated admitting, for as long as he could remember Logan was afraid of most scary movies, and now he was asked to play a game that was like playing out a movie. He tried to control the expression on his face, and hoped if they did play it at least the lights would be on.
"Yes, quite. And gory." Wyatt shifted slightly, to sit cross-legged. "Horror is my favorite genre of anything and everything. Video games, especially. Left 4 Dead is my current digital addiction."
"Right..." Logan said shakily before handing the game back to him, he couldn't let Wyatt know he was scared or else he'd never live it down. "Sure if you want to." he tried to brush the idea off, as he laid there looking up at him hoping he'd be able to handle it.
Wyatt could already tell that Logan was afraid. Perhaps reassurance in his time of fear would promote a more stable relationship between the two. Even in a video game, the feeling of knowing that someone was there to protect you at all times was quite refreshing. Wyatt popped the game into his 360, and fiddled with his TV a bit to get it on the right channel. He knew that even the opening credits were scary.
Logan sighed when he noticed Wyatt putting the game into the tv, now he'd really have to deal with it. He took a deep breath as he rolled over onto his stomach again, and he reached for the controller. He held it in his hand steady as he waited for Wyatt to come back and sit down.
Wyatt sat down beside him, grabbing a second controller, and settled himself down, eyes fixed on the screen. He adored Left 4 Dead and would try to make it as enjoyable as possible for Logan.
Once the opening credits began he moved back onto his knees so he'd have a bit more control. For the first little bit he was doing okay, it wasn't too scary just yet, but it did grow worse as time passed, and without even knowing it he slowly had moved closer and closer to Wyatt.
Wyatt didn't mind. As they began to play, it was apparent that he was a spot-on shot. Plus, there were two NPCs that were helping them out, and they were like a trigger-happy firing squad. The zombies weren't too terrifying, save for the bosses, or 'Special Infected.'
Logan was very shaky with how he was playing, really he wasn't doing much to help, and it made him a bit more distressed. They were playing along when he finally was getting used to it, but then a big crash came across the screen, which made him jump nearly into Wyatt's arms as he clung to him, his controller flew across the floor.
Wyatt paused the game calmly, and set his controller down. He patted Logan on the back, awkwardly. Totally not used to physical contact, at least not in an affectionate manner. "It is just a propane canister, exploding in the distance."
It took a second for Logan to process the fact that he was nearly on Wyatt's lap, his face turned red instantly. "I'm sorry," he said backing off quickly, "heh..." he smiled awkwardly unsure of what else to say, clearly it was an odd situation to be in.
Wyatt wasn't red in the least. Instead, the embarrassment was all in his eyes. He curled his legs up against his chest, for some reason. Possibly to prevent it from happening again. "It's all right," he assured him, voice just a tad strained. "You had better fetch your controller."
Logan avoided Wyatt's eyes, so he couldn't find the embarrassment in them, although he was sure that he found Logan completely odd now. Wyatt's voice was strained when he told him to fetch his controller, instead of refusing he decided to fetch it. He didn't bother getting up he just crawled over on his knees it wasn't too far away. "Sorry." he said again naturally unsure of what to do.
"You don't have to apologize. You were frightened." Wyatt was embarrassed for a totally different reason, but he didn't really have to talk about that. Not with someone he wasn't very close with just yet. "Are you ready to play again? Or would you rather do something else? I could take you home, as well, if you want..."
Logan needed to compose himself for a second, he wasn't used to being in this situation. He looked over to him, "I know you want me to play this with you..." he looked down, "But okay... I admit it... I'm a complete pussy when it comes to horror related things." he set down the controller, "I'm probably boring you anyway, I can always walk home... its not to far."
