"Night..." Velo was awake for a few more minutes before he dreamily drifted off into sleep. He had pleasant dreams, as he always did after he'd had a good night with someone, or more than one someone.
Elliot had slept soundly and the next day he woke up to the sun cracking through the window, when he looked over to the clock he jumped out of the bed quickly. "Shit," escaped his lips as he scrounged around for his clothes, he was going to be late for his class.
Velo jumped up as well, surprised, and then shook his head. He was probably going to be late, as well, but he hopped out of bed and grabbed the first of his clothes he could find, throwing them on like he didn't care. He ran a brush through his hair, and quickly brushed his teeth. He was ready to go, and he grabbed his bag. It had taken him all of three minutes.
Elliot wasn't the typical type to be late for anything, so it took him much longer to find anything, either way he slopped on a shirt and jeans, hopping across the room as he did so. He took another second to brush his teeth and reach for his laptop and bag. He looked to Velonin with apologetic eyes as if it had been his fault all along.
"It's fine, don't worry about it. You have the same class as me first, right? Don't worry...I can get us out of being late," Velo promised, softly. For once, he could use his wonderful reputation with 99% of the staff to benefit both of them.
Elliot ran a hair through his messy hair, as he walked out of the dorm room, "How would you do that exactly?" Logically Elliot couldn't understand how that would be possible, they were just two average students.
"Well...you'll see." Velo left it at that as they walked down the hall. It took them a while to reach their class, which was a simple Graphic Design class. Velo quietly apologized to the teacher, claiming that he had forgotten to set up his alarm clock in the hustle-and-bustle of arriving on campus. He had meant for the alarm to wake them both up.
Surprisingly enough, the teacher seemed to understand, and did not mark them as being late. |
Once they entered Elliot was surprised at all Velonin had to do, as they walked to their seats he ran up beside him and whispered, "How did you do that?"
Velo hesitated. He hated being treated like he was above everyone else, and he didn't like the thought of telling someone else that the school played favorites when it came to him, but he caved and finally explained the situation. "...I'm a really prestigious tech student, you see...I had a lot of schools clawing at each other in an attempt to enroll me and lure me in..."
"What?" was all that came out of Elliot's mouth at first, "Really? I had no idea, wow." no wonder this was so easy for them, he sat down next to him, although it did make he feel quite inferior.
"I don't think I'm above anyone else or anything. I'm not that arrogant, so...I hope this doesn't change things between us," Velo backpedaled, frowning, as he shifted around in his seat.
Elliot smiled at him, and was surprised that he think anything should change, "No, not all, don't worry."
Velo silently cheered, glad that he hadn't lost another friend because of something like this. He worked on their first project, which was to use the simple design program they had to make some nice t-shirt decals, avidly. Things like this were no-brainers for him.
After sometime of working, Elliot came to a road block he leaned over to look at what Velonin was doing, "Do you know what you're going to make yet?" Elliot felt out of place, he wasn't the most creative, he'd rather have people tell him what to do.
"I'm going to make a Japanese geisha shirt. Two on either side of a koi fish, with some sakura flowers...maybe I'll add in some traditional katakana symbols, too..." Velo replied, as he brainstormed. He had already figure out what size he wanted to make the frontal design.
Velonin looked amazed, "How did you come up with something so quickly?" he was in awe, all that Elliot had done were a few sketches that really didn't add up to anything, or mean anything at all.
"Actually, I've had that particular idea carousing around in my head for a while, now, haha...I was just looking for some way to implement it." Velo tilted his head at him, curiously. "Why don't you pick a sort of starting theme before you begin? Like...medieval, reformation...zombies," he offered, chuckling.
Elliot bit his lip thinking for a minute, "That's a good idea..." he found that out of all things he loved, the most was video games, so he'd do something around that. He played around with his tablet and decided to play with the idea of wiring creating a design that didn't just sit in the centre of the shirt, but looked like it plugged in at the chest and trailed down the side, into a pile of cables at the bottom of the shirt.
Velo had stopped for the day after making a brief digital sketch in Photoshop of what he wanted to do, and airbrushed some sample colors into the correct shapes. He leaned back in his chair, stomach grumbling. "Man, I'm hungry..."
Elliot at this point had finally figured out what he wanted to do, and now he had his sketch finished and he was about to start making it clean and crisp when he heard Velonin speak. Elliot looked over with a raised eyebrow as he actually heard Velonin's stomach growl, "You're telling me, I can hear it from here." he smiled playfully.
A slight blush tinged Velo's cheeks. "Well, gee. I probably should've popped a snack in my mouth before I left," he muttered, embarrassed. "Good thing I have my lunch next. I can head out and grab something to eat. And proceed to shove it down my throat like an animal."
Elliot laughed, "Well that sounds really attractive." he was be sarcastic of course, but the more he looked at Velonin he was sure that he'd be attractive almost anytime. "Come to think of it though... I have lunch coming up too."
"You want to go with me? Get lost trying to find restaurants around here with the half-assed map the school had in the front lobby?" Velo asked, cheerfully. He didn't know his way around the area just yet. So, he was looking for some good places to eat...he loved Asian food.
"Sure, I mean it beats getting lost on your own," Elliot was over the moon about going to lunch with Velonin, ever since their connection he really became quite taken with him, and he only wanted to know more about him.
"Sure does. Always better to be lost with company, unless it's bad company." Velo turned his computer off, done for the day. "Don't let me distract you. You should finish up before class ends."
