"Nope," Emmett said wondering if he should've have lied, but if she knew then that would be bad. He laughed nervously, "It doesn't look that old though."

'No, it doesn't, which is the strange thing,' Ynx said. 'Usually places people think are haunted have been around for a while.'

"Yeah," Emmett agreed, "That's why I came to check it out. Nothing looks strange though. I wouldn't mind living here, kind of nice."

Ynx nodded. 'It is. It still feels like a home.'

"Yeah, well shall we start searching for this thing?" Emmett said. He was confident they wouldn't find anything, but he wouldn't mind exploring the house.

'I've already got the living room done,' Ynx said. 'I was working on here when you came in.'

"Ah alright, well how about the kitchen?" Emmett suggested.

Ynx spread her arms around the kitchen. 'No food in here. Do you know anything about this home's past owners?'

"Nah," Emmett said as he looked around in cupboards and things for squeaky hinges that might make ghost sounds. He was a nerd alright and didn't believe in the superficial. There had to be logic for everything, "I really don't know that much, maybe we should look it up later?"

(I think you meant supernatural. For the record, I'm a sceptic, too ^^)

Ynx nodded. 'That would be a good idea,' she said, looking through drawers. 'All these are empty...but the furniture's still here and appliances are still plugged in.'

"That's quite odd," Emmett said, "It's like someone just got up and left leaving all their stuff."

'But if so, why isn't there any food or kitchenware?' Ynx asked. 'Furniture is expensive. You wouldn't take your wooden spoons but leave a fridge behind.'

"I don't know," Emmett shrugged, "Maybe they didn't need the stuff for where they were going. Plus food would spoil if you just left it, so they had to dump it out or something." He could've kept going, but was afraid he was being too much of a braniac.

'But then, where would they be going?' Ynx reasoned. 'A shelter? But they wouldn't bring their cooking implements with them. A relative? But then we have the same problem. Maybe they left suddenly? But then why are cooking implements gone when it would be quicker for them to just buy food on the road until they could settle down again?' She shrugged. 'I could see the furniture being here if people were moving in, but there's no record of this house having been sold recently. It doesn't make sense.'

"Hmmmm...." Emmett pondered, "Well they could've moved to a new house. And food spoils so maybe for the next person who moves in, they just threw it out? They could've not sold the house incase they decided to move back, and they wouldn't want it to stink, so they threw the food away? Maybe some kids ate it all, the doors obviously not locked so anyone could come in here and steal stuff. Furniture is kind of heavy, so maybe that's why it wasn't taken." Emmett said thinking that that would make perfect sense. After all it was an abandoned house, so on Halloween and stuff, kids probably dared other kids to come in here.

Ynx shook her head. 'Homes are big investments. You don't own two homes just in case you want to come back if you aren't going to do anything with the one you left behind - at the very least rent it out, but even if you do, you take the furniture out, because the people who'll rent it bring their own.' She thought for a moment. 'At most they could've abandoned it and people took little thing over the years...but the house isn't dusty, so who's been cleaning? Who would care?'

Emmett shrugged, "Who knows, maybe they had a relative to take care of the place? Maybe someone really likes cleaning? They could've been rich, so maybe they didn't care or maybe they died?" Emmett knew there had to be some logical reasoning, "We don't know very much so I'm sure whatever the reason, they at least have one."

'If someone was taking care of this place, coming in and out regularly, it wouldn't've gained a reputation as being haunted,' Ynx said. 'It's been abandoned for a long time - it shouldn't be in this good shape. There aren't even cobwebs.'

"Well, if it's haunted, why would they care if it's clean or not. Aren't ghosts supposed to like spooky places?" Emmett remarked.

'Depends on the ghost,' Ynx said, without thinking.

"So you believe in ghosts?" Emmett said shaking his head, "But I've never heard of a clean ghost, I've heard of a friendly one, though."

'You should research ghosts more,' Ynx said simply. 'Should we go on to the next room?'

Emmett shrugged, "I don't believe in them, so why bother." He was sure Ynx wasn't too into him by now since she appeared to believe in the supernatural. He sighed, "Alright."

'The dining room's right beside here,' Ynx said, already on her way there. 'We might as well see what's there.'

"Alright," Emmett said following her.
