"Yeah... Maybe." She thought about that a second. There was something she really want to try, but couldn't till she concurred this fear first. "As a child living alone, I climbed trees twice my height for fresh fruit each day. One day, however I fell face first from one and have been scared ever since. That tree you saw me climb was my first in months."
"That can scare someone, but it's the strong that will concur their fears, and I can see your a strong person." he compiments her.
"Hmm... More like stubborn enough to seem strong... I think... Or maybe I am with some things... There's one thing I really don't like... But I won't get into that right now." She giggled as she picked up her cup and took it to her sink.
"And what's that if you don't mind my asking." he says curiously. "If you don't to tell me you don't have to. I don't think that your not strong, actually quite the opposite."
"Spi- Tur.. Uh... Creatures with eight legs." She couldn't say the whole word as it freaked her out too much as she shivered slightly. "Anyway... I'll dispel them if they come too close. Mikomi will eat them." The coment made her blush. She never knew herself to be that strong. Sure she was strong willed, but physically... Not so much.
"Oh, I see, every being has at least one fear." he says. "You can not be physically strong, but still be strong, just depends on what your defination of strong is."
"Strong-willed is mine. Or stubborn enough to seem like it. Either way, it doesn't matter. Strong is strong and can't be anything else." Tejina let her cup soak in the sink with soap as the little kitten returned, hopping up on the chair she was sitting on previously. ~Mew!~
He finished up what blood was left in his cup and handed it to Tejina, then leaned on a wall close to the doorway, so he wasen't in the way. "I'm pretty strong both ways, I've had a life where I had to be." he says a smirk on his face.
Tejina washed both cups quickly so the left over liquid or sugar wouldn't get stuck on them. Once she was finished she walked back to the chair. "Miko!" She laughed at the little kitten for stealing her chair then looked back at him with a puzzled look on her face. "Huh? You had a life where you had to be? Was it very rough back then?"
"It's a long story, but I've been through many disease, which tipped people off to me being what I am, which led to the Vampire HUters going after me, and stuff like that." he answers going into the other room. "ANd I finally find a place where they don't t least go as far as hiring vampire hunters."
That does sound rough... About as rough as my late family tree... A few centuries ago... Assassinating, executing, all that I said earlier. They had Witch Hunters back then as well according to legend. The people of the town weren't even grateful to them after they saved the island from destruction or when they found a cure for diseases. I'm actually wondering..." She couldn't say anymore after that as the kitten started mewing for something.
"Yeah, that does sound rough as well, but it's things like that that only make us stronger beings." he says. "That does suck, and t sounds similar to something that happened to me." he doesn't want to remember it, he can still find the scars from that one.
Maybe she thought correctly even if she didn't say it. Having lived many centuries, maybe this guy had been living in the area... At the time... She felt she shouldn't ask about it though as she noticed a look. A look of forgetting or something. She had times like those when she wanted to forget something. Something bad. "I may have grown stronger from those stories growing up an orphan. There's a thick book about it somewhere in this cabin and I'd read a story from it every day till two years ago."
"Sounds interesting." he says. "You, out of the few times I've drinken from live humans, the sweetest blood of tasted is that of a vampire hunter." he says. "But I wouldn't drink from another human, even if it were a vampire hunter, it's so cruel." I have lived a couple of centuries here." he says, answering a thought he thought she might have, "I've lived some of those, and I've helped witches out of binds that were caused because of those things happening."
"So you must know a few of my ancestors then. There's actually a story about that... I was sure if it was true or not, but it seems possible now." She located the book on a shelf somewhere and set it down on the table, opening it to a certain chapter. The title was blurred but somewhat readable. Combined Powers: Blood-thirsty Magic. The first sentence spoke of a witch family or clan and another being who loved the taste of blood, but wouldn't kill for it. Tejina turned the book around so it was facing right side up for him to read without a word.
He read the section and smiled, then fel kind of old. "Yeah that's talking about me, I have helped out a couple of your ancestors, I can see some of their features in you." he says remembering them in some detail now. "Somethings I don't remember, or don't want to, so I don't, this is one that I don't remeber too good."
"I figured as much after you told me how old you were. Not that it matters. It should mean wisdom, not be thought of as old age." She tried to remember her parents, but could feel nothing but sadness. "I can't remember what my parents looked like and don't really want to think about that often. Makes me sad..." She never really went as far to remember people's faces anyway. "I'm sure there was probably a girl or a few girls my age back then who not only had my features but could almost seem like I could be her or their reincarnation or something despite being related. Although maybe there was more than one family of witches back then and some of their features were passed down to everyone... Could be possible... Maybe."
"Yeah." he started to really like her. He thought he should proably get going, but he didn't want to seem rude, hejust didn't think that falling for a witch in the same family that he helped out centuries ago probably wasen't too normal. But yet again what was normal.
Tejina checked the time on the outside sundial from her window and saw how late it was getting. It was still early enough in the day for her potion making despite how long it took which helped, but wouldn't be able to concentrate too well with company yet. She could somehow tell the guy wanted to get going, too, but wasn't sure how to let him go without seeming in a rush. "So um..." She looked down at the floor trying to think of the right words even though it shouldn't be that hard. "I'll understand if you have other things to do today whenever you want to leave for the day..."
"I've got no real plans, it's just....." he tried finding words for it. "I'm starting to really like you, and ......" he had a loss for words again, and couldn't find words for what the next thing it was he wanted to say.
"Huh? You like me? No one's ever told me that before except my parents..." Somehow this time was a bit different. A weird feeling overtook her. A different feeling from when her parents said it. She couldn't figure it out.
"Yeah, I like you." he admits it, blushing a bit, well for what a vampire can. "I really like you, and it feels weird to me to like you, because I helped out your ancestors, but I don't care about that too much, I mean the way that that makes it weird for me to like you."
Before she could respond, a memory came to her. Years ago she'd read the vampire chapter in the book. At one point it spoke of the vampire helping the witch clan. It also spoke of something else... Something puzzled her. She had to ask. "Has it happened before? You liking a witch?"
"For a vampire I should have a good memory, but somethings I can't remember certain details to, I might have liked another witch a century ago, but I can't remember." he answers.
"Huh... It's possible I guess." She knew of a way to find out, but wasn't experienced enough to do so yet. It didn't really matter, though as most people usually went through more than one relationship in their lifetime anyway.
At this point of time and for the first time, Tejina's feelings were all messed up. She wasn't sure what to think, feel or even say. She liked him, too, but wasn't sure if was the same kind... She hadn't had a friend since childhood and never had a boyfriend either. It confused her and she tired not to show it. |
