She still had the face as she waited for her water to boil. Didn't take long as she used a small amount of water and soon she was lightly sipping on tea. She sighed in relief before noticing someone outside laughing. She was curious again and stepped out of her cabin and looked around, the sun almost blinding.
"Morning." he greets her. He stands up and blocks the sun for her. "I stayed most of the night, I made sure no one came like I promised."
Tejina jumped at the voice till what happened the day before came back to her. "Good morning." Somehow it didn't seem that way with no one invading... But she wouldn't say it. "I didn't hear anything. You must have been very quiet during the night. Or I was sound asleep... Anyway I'm glad."
"I read mostly, i went for a quick bag of blood, other than that, I can walk really quietly, I did notice that something startled you though, but I'm guessing it was just your cat." he says smiling, giving her a quick hug.
"It's possible. She can creep up at anytime. One time she was under the covers and her fur was rubbing against my leg... I thought it was something creepy... She's so small..." She blushed slightly at the hug.
"Sounds like a mischevious cat you have there." he says chuckling softly. "Very amuzing too." He liked her feeling safe, he wanted her to trust him, like he does her.
"Yeah, but she's also too cute to be angry at. At least for very long. She's my best furry friend. She'll attack when she needs to."
At that moment the kitty came from the chair and rubbed against her legs mewing for food again. She looked up at the vampire and gave him a glaring look for a split second before returning to her cute self. |
He looked curiously at the cat and wonders what that could have been. "I think she's hungry, either that or she doesn't trust me." he says gueesing what the cat was feeling.
"Hmm... I didn't notice anything... She's probably just hungry. This one can eat all she wants and can never gain a pound..." She wasn't sure why. Even when she ate twice as much as normal cats which she'd never met before. To Tejina that was normal.
Mikomi was still mewing cutely, but also purring as she ignored the vampire. For now... Tejina walked into the kitchen and got the food for her and set it down. Also some water before heading back to the living room. She didn't have go herb hunting today so she sat down in the chair. "That should keep her occupied. At least for a while." |
He walks into her cabin closing the door softly. "Yeah, my cat was the same way, well didn't eat as much."
"Sometimes she doesn't eat much at all some days. It's not really worrisome, but it's probably good to have... If she ate a lot during the week, she'd probably be heavy or so, but since she goes outside a lot she burns it off more quickly it seems." Tejina looked down at her kitty friend and smiled.
"Yeah, animals can burn it off a bit faster than humans I think, but I can't really say that, I can go on barely anything." he says. "But I think it's time for you to have some breafast yourself, don't you want me to cook for you this morning, I'm pretty good at it."
"Usually I can handle a few hours without breakfast and lunch, but sure. If you can work my kitchen... Go for it." It had one of those wood stove burning stoves with small oven attachment. A somewhat new invention from the rest of the town. Her kitchen was also very messy, being so small. "When I do make something, I try to make it in the fireplace in a big pot or outside on an open fire. There's a fire pit out there. So either one." She'd use all three depending on her mood.
"I think I'll use the open fire, I'll be back in a couple of seconds with wood." he says and goes to the woods just outside and gathers a good pile of dry kindling and wood, he puts it within an arms reach of the pit and starts a fire, using to twigs, he gets it going and and gets some eggs and bacon as well as a thin layer of bread that he could warm and wrap around the egg and bacon, as well as a pan from his cabin and he gets back to the fire place, he gets a thickish flat rock and uses that to put the pan on above the pit, he puts the eggs into the pan, and cooks those, and puts those into the warmed layer of folded bread and cleans the pan and cooks the bacon, chops that up and puts it into the layer of bread and puts the breakfast onto a clean plate, it only took him a couple of minutes, and the food is cooked well. He takes the plate inside and sets in on the table.
Tejina was watching with curiosity from outside her door as everything was gathered and cooked quickly, not seeing anything like it. It usually took her twice as long just to get everything from the town, being careful not to stir up trouble, and cook it all over a fire that took her longer to make depending where she was. In the kitchen with the stove it would take around fifteen minutes to heat it up plus ten to find the wood for it in the forest that was loose. Over the fireplace wouldn't be wise as it was too dangerous, but she'd cook soup or clean laundry over it sometimes. And with the open fire... Well she had trouble starting one of those to begin with so it was rarely used. If it was, it would easily take her half an hour to get it going and the ten to gather wood. She she was pretty amazed at this. It seemed like only half the time it would take her. "That was fast..." Was all she could say.
"Thanks, I camp a lot, sometimes with witches, so I get used to getting those down and it takes a shorter time." he answers. "Your breakfast my love is done." he says smiling.
"I've never gone camping unless you count the times I've gotten lost in the forest and ended up sleeping there..." She emerged from the doorway and sat outside on a stump. "It looks good. Thanks."
"Your welocme, really, I'd love to take you some time, I've found a spot on the Island that no noe goes to, it's nice and natural." he says. "And I could teach you some tricks to do somethings faster, like start a fire in a fire pit."
"Yeah... I never had much luck with those. Takes me twice as long as it took you. Then again it's the firewood that consumes time. I try to bring as light a load as possible each time, but the fire never lasts a long time that way." It was embarrassing to say things like that, but it was true. Until she had better control of her magic she had to do everything with her own strength. Like when climbing trees.
"I'm sure with practice you'll get those things down pat." he says confidently.
((writers block sorry )) |
"Yup. Everyone I've known have said that practice makes perfect. Even if somethings are fearful to try." Her first fire didn't go so well. Then again she was a bit too young to be making them in the first place. It just happened as she was overly curious. Luckily nothing bad happened and it was put out right away. She didn't want to think about that as she ate her breakfast not realizing how hungry she was.
"If you want I can make another one for you." He says. "Yeah they're right, you probably had the right idea then. Would you like to go camping though, under the stars, only a screen tent to keep the bugs away, you can see all, and the animals won't bother you as long as your with me."
"This should be good... But we'll see." Some days varied from others when it came to food or anything else. "Camping could be fun someday, but... What's a screen tent?" They didn't have anything like those on the island. "I've seen triangular tents. The kind they supposedly used back during the Revolutionary and Civil wars, but never a screen tent..." She looked confused.
"They can be any shape and size, and it's just netting like material for walls, I've got one that came with white siding in cases of raining, but it's amazing for clear nights and days." he explains. "It's the closest to sleeping under the stars as possible while being protected from pesky bugs, where there are bugs."
"That sounds like a good invention then. Better than those triangular ones by far. I may still have mine unless I had to use the fabric from it to make something else. Or it got tossed out for being too dirty... Either way. It was pretty old..." She finished her breakfast then later than expected. "The bugs in these parts seem to love my blood. It's almost as if it was made of sugar or something, but I'm sure it's not. I'm not about to taste it either." She made a split second face of disgust before watching the fire go. By this time hers would have died. "Looking up at the stars is good, though."
