Matthew smiled slightly--albeit slightly sadly--and pulled into the driveway of a beautiful home. He led Nick and Mesy inside and began showing them the room. It was a four bedroom house that had a huge backyard, complete with patio and pool. "The owners blocked the pool off because they had little children, so it's a perfect for families" Matthew explained. Nick turned to Mesy "what do you think? Is it everything we've wanted?" he asked.
"4 bedroom, 2 bath, big backyard, and pool... more then what we were looking for... and I love it!" Mesy smiled easily as she looked around the yard then back at Nick and smiled happily glad that they had found something... though hoped it was in their price rang.
Matthew smiled "shall we talk price?" he asked, leading them to a table. "Alright, what are the owners asking for?" Nick asked.
"$350,000" "Alright, say we accept, how long before we can move in?" "It should a week, tops" "Perfect, we'll take it" Nick declared as he pulled out his checkbook, the one that linked to the bank account his grandfather left him. Matthew drove them back to the office, finished last business, then they parted on the promise that Matthew would call when they could move in. Nick thanked the agent and led Mesy out to the car. "Before you worry about the price, don't. I used my grandfather's inheiritance money to pay for it" he explained. |
"Wow... that... was allot. Your grandpa must have been rich! Was that all that was in the account?" Mesy asked curiously. Truthfully she didn't care how much money Nick had, she would love him just the same no matter what.
Nick smiled "no, that was about a quarter. I don't use that account. I used it to adopt the twins, to buy the house, it's the account that belonged to the card I gave you to go shopping for clothes and bed for the twins. I never used it until I met you, I was doing just fine on my own" he explained.
"wow..." was all Mesy could really think of saying to that. She had never had money... not that she didn't absolutely need. Infact the twins only had a few toys from over the years they had been traveling since they didn't have money. Every now and again however Mesy would get a tiny bit of extra which she always used for the girls and rarely ever herself... as long as her girls were happy she was happy no matter the cost to herself, if that meant not getting a better coat or new pair of clothes, she was just fine with it.
Nick shrugged "My grandfather was a successful businessman, my dad is a lawyer... I grew up with money when I needed it. The only time I ever accepted help, though, was going through school. I knew that I'd need a good job, and education was the best way to get that. But once that was over, I was on my own, happily. My Grandfather died about a year after I was on my own, and he left his life savings to me. Brad and Lisa got the house, which was convenient since their family was growing, but that's it. The card's been sitting in my desk since then. I didn't need it, and I was still upset with my family. Besides... I didn't want to exhaust the amount in case something unexpectedly happened. I'm glad I didn't... It'll probably help as we're shopping for the baby" he explained. Once they were at a stoplight, he looked at Mesy "I told my mom we'd be out for awhile... do you want to go get lunch? Just the two of us? It's been a while since we've really been able to spend some quality alone time" he asked then began driving.
"Sure" Mesy smiled easily at his question and thought for a few minutes. "Ya know... I grew up in a house that was on the good side of sosioty... not saying we were ritch but we had a good life... I didn't. My mother hated me and my father never cared so I was often neglected. Out of my four other siblings I was the only one that didn't get new clothes, toys, shoes... nothing unless a friend gave it to me. I was mistreated often and sometimes my mother would even starve me saying that we didn't have the money... it was always a lie. I got a job when I was about thirteen and hed some money to help me when I ran off with the twins. I rarely ever spent the money on me... even when I really needed it just so long as the girls were happy, I was happy no matter the cost. I always had odd ended jobs... I never finished school... I didn't have the time... Though I did learn along the way. When you gave me that card... I was hesitent. I didn't know how much you had and worried about over doing it even though you told me not to worry... I just wasn't sure of what to do really." she smiled some knowing he probably had no clue that much about her past... the worse things he probably thought was wrong was probably when she got pregnant at that young age... though that wasn't even the begining.
Nick pulled into the parking lot of a favorite restaurant and parked. He opened the door for Mesy and led her to the front of the restaurant. "Well, no more of that. When we're shopping, and you see something you want, you go ahead and get it. No matter what it is. Goodness knows I'll be spoiling you as much as the kids. Don't worry about the price either, truly. I don't want you to sacrifice something for the kids, simply because of money. There's no need for that anymore" he told her.
"You're gonna spoil my... our girls rotton!" Mesy laughed though corrected herself before she said 'her' girls... no longer just hers... their girls.
Nick smiled "of course. I will in moderation, of course... and I won't give gifts without meaning... but I'm not going to refuse them if it's within reason" he answered.
"Lovely." Mesy grinned a bit at Nick though seriously hoped he wouldn't over do it. She knew how kids turned out when they were spoiled.... that's why her brother acted to way he did... that was one of the reasons she had such a hard life... he almost always got his way and that also included with her... her parents didn't care, infact they told him he could.
"I said within reason, didn't I? Spoiling kids doesn't do anything but hinder them for the future. I want them to be happy, yes, but I'm not going to let them get away with everything just because they can" Nick defended as the hostess came to show them to their seats.
"Okay okay whatever you say." Mesy laughed some giving in finally as they were seated. She opened the menu and started reading and scanning for something that looked good and was shocked to see one of her favorite dishes on the menu.
"See something you like?" Nick asked, noting the look on Mesy's face. He was casually glancing at the menu, seeing if there was anything better than what he'd decided on.
"Yep... the pasta dish... I've had it a few times and I love it though I could never get it after awhile of being on my own." Mesy smiled easily as she looked up at Nick happily. The only alone time they had really gotten in the last bit was when... well ya know, and that only lasted for awhile... it wasn't like going out and doing stuff... plus they had to be careful about that... they always had to lock the door to make sure the girls wouldn't come in. So yeah... she was loving this.
Nick smiled "well then, my queen, you shall have it today" he said just as the waiter arrived. He ordered for the both of them to get rid of the minor annoyance faster. Once the waiter was gone, he scooted his chair closer to Mesy. "Glad we did this? Think it's cheating my mother since we're no actually looking for houses, but we're on a date... you know... this... this could very well be our first date... what do you think?" he asked, putting his arms around her.
"No... I don't think it's cheeting her since we were house hunting... and plus..." Mesy said then moved to kiss Nick on the lips lightly then looked into his eyes. "This is worth it don't you think?" she smiled some lovingly to Nick as she leaned into his some while they waited for their food.
Nick smiled and bent down to place a kiss on Mesy's lips. "Definitely worth it. I do find it interesting, though... most people go on dates before getting engaged... we did it backwards, we got engaged then we went on a date" he replied with a chuckle. He didn't mind though... under different circumstances, they might've done it the normal way. But they didn't have normal circumstances. Nick knew that he was going to be with Mesy and no one else... no point in beating around the bush. Besides, this way they'd have a planned wedding before the baby was born.
"Yeah though we're not like most people are we?" Mesy laughed some then looked up as the food arived and her stomache gave a light growl as she smelt the delisious aroma of the food that made her mouth water a bit.
Nick chuckled and took a bite out of his food. "True, it all works out in the end, though. We have a house that we'll be moving into within the week, two beautiful girls, another one on the way... We'll be married within a month and a half... I'm happy, are you?" Nick asked.
"You know I am... and we don't know if it will be a girl or a boy... I don't mind either way though it might be nice to have a little boy." Mesy smiled as she ate some and thought, at least this time she would have help.
"I just meant another child in general, not necessarily one gender or the other. Though... I do hope that they aren't twins. As much as I love Hena and Heiwa... I don't think I can handle four children all at once. But... if that's what we have... then that's what we have, I'll love them all the same" Nick confessed "But yes... a little boy would be nice, especially when he gets older... He'd have my blood, I could teach him all about being a man, how to treat a lady... everything. A boy would be nice, so would a girl... but I'd love to have a boy" he finished.
"I know... I love the thought of a little boy too. I've already started raising two little girls a little boy would be a nice change. Either whay we will still love them." Mesy smiled happily as she also finished eating and sighed contently. "That was good... thanks." she smiled happily.
Nick smiled "anything for you, my lady" Nick replied before putting the last bite of food in his mouth. "I suppose that we should go get the girls, huh? Do you want anything else before I call the waiter for the bill?" he asked as he eyed the desert menu. Unfortunately, it was attached to the liquor menu. Nick hesitated briefly before passing the small menu to Mesy. It wasn't that he was stressed beyond usual, but he was starting to feel the urge to drink again. He knew it was going to happen sooner or later.
