Lin took a step to the right then blocked Thane's sword with hers. 'Okay, I think I need to work on my footwork, I didn't practice that...well not that much..didn't think it would be important....Hopefully Thane wont try to kill me today...hes better at sword fighting then me....at least I think he is anyway..'.
Thane smirked and nodded, telling her how he was impressed for someone so amateur. Then he swung the sword back and then rested for a moment. "Impressive....What about your arm work?" he asked as he swung his sword to the right side of her face.
Lin panicked a little when Thane swung his sword at her face, so she ducked. 'Why did I do that? Why didn't I just block it?! I can't believe I just ducked...I guess Thane is going to laugh or something...This will he grate.'
Thane wasn't expecting her to duct, so unfortunately, he ended up falling forward. Once on the ground, he sighed and got onto his knees. In no time, he was chuckling. "That works as well. But I was expecting you to block, Lin," he told her as he took his time to get to his feet, his sword still in hand. He brushed the grass off of his knees and chest and faced Lin. "Shall we try again?" Without warning, he swung his sword once more to her face, except a little slower to make the warning by far obvious if she really did have the talent that Thane saw in her eyes.
Lin giggled when Thane fell on the ground, she didn't mean to make him loose his balance. 'Wasn't expecting that...' Lin sighed and watched Thane get up. "Yeah well I ducked because I didn't want you to cut off my head, I know I should have blocked it, but I just panicked a little." When Thane swung his sword t her face, again, Lin blocked it with her sword. She gulped, the swords were really close to her face. She took a few steps back.
Thane smiled down at Lin when they were close. Then he took a step closer at each step she took back. "I wasn't going to allow myself hurt you if that were possible," he said, their swords crossed and close to their faces, which were inches apart. Before he waited for her to say anything, he quickly took two steps back and relaxed his sword. Then he picked up his cantine and tossed it to Lin. "Here, you look thirsty. We'll take a break."
Lin caught the cantine "Thank you.". She opened it and started to gulp down the water. Surprisingly, it was cold. 'He must have just got this from a stream...' whe she drank all of the water from the cantine she closed the cantine and said "That was refreshing. Again, thank you.". Lin whipped her mouth off with her sleeve and sighed.
Thane smiled at and grabbed the cantine. "I'm gonna head to the stream for more water, wanna come?" he asked as he began heading towards the stream.
((sorry for it being so short. D: )) |
((Eh don't worry about it. I've been writing short posts too.))
Lin nodded and sat down on the grass, she was tired of standing. She looked up at the sky and sighed. The breeze was nice and cool, it felt good going through her hair. |
Thane knelt down on the shoreline of the stream as he opened up the cantine and dipped it into the stream, letting the clear and icy cold water fall into the cantine. Then he got up and took a swig, laying down next to Lin. "I hate to break it to you, but tomorrow, we're gonna have to pack up and get back on our way, Lin," he told her, his hands crossed behind his head as he looked back up at the sky as well.
"Okay, sounds grate." Lin said halfheartedly. She didn't want to go just yet, she would have another day in this beautify place, but she wanted to stay there for a little while longer. It was peaceful and there wasn't anyone to bug her about random crap. She sighed and looked back up at the sky, there wasn't a cloud in sight.
Thane turned his head to look over at Lin. "Do you miss home? Because honestly...I kind of...like it here better," he said, trying to start up a conversation so there wasn't any awkward silence.
I don't want to go home, its dull and boring there....My parents are way too strict and they keep me locked up in the castle...That was why my eye was twitching and I was acting weird when I first met you...I've never been around a bunch of people...only a few...I'm not much of a people person." Lin said. She put her hand over her mouth, she didn't mean to blab out that much. She was hopping that Thane didn't hear all of what she said.
Thane just chuckled, thinking of how cute she looked doing that. "It's okay. My parents are the same way. Except...they're more demanding on the evil side. Always wanting me to do this and that that caused death and such...I don't want to go home either...I like it so much here. Freedom."
Lin took her hand of of her mouth. "My parents are over protective and annoying..." she whispered like her parents were in the field, sitting across from her. "The only part that doesn't drive me crazy is their weird habits..." Lin said. "My moms weird habit is that she has to smell everything...she doesn't smell things in front of guests and my father but she does it around me!".
Thane found himself laughing at Lin's mother's habit. "That is very weird...and quite entertaining," he told her. "My father has a weird habit...he always has to inspect anything new or out of place. He always thinks new things are a scam. Of course, that isn't weird to the point it's funny," he said as he shrugged his shoulders and took another swig of his cantine.
Then he got up and looked down at Lin, outstretching a hand to her. "Well, we should get back to training. If we leave tomorrow, we'll be in dangerous grounds my midnight," he told her. He only then noticed something. He was protecting her as if she really was a princess and he was only a mere escorter. Like he had sworn his life to keep her's...well...alive. For an instance, the other day...he took a hit for her, just so that hit wouldn't harm her. He was beginning to really care for her. He shook the feeling off and brought himself back to reality. |
"yeah, there is a few things she just shouldn't smell...she might get high..." Lin mumbled. "Parents are weird.", Lin sighed and shook her head. She didn't understand her parents at all. She didn't get why they would yell at her when she started chewing her nails, they had weirder habits then she did!
in got up and nodded "Yeah, we should get back to training...Just don't swing at my face, you'll get a mouth full of grass, like earlier, if you do.". She giggled at the thought of seeing Thane eat grass. After a few moments she stopped giggling. |
Thane laughed at her joke as he headed back to the meadow where their swords were dropped off. "Well, then that makes it your weakest point. You can't have a weak point when it comes to fighting," he told her as he waited for her to pick up her sword.
Lin went back to the meadow too. "I don't think thats true, we all have to have a weak point when it comes to fighting, no one can do something 'perfectly'." she picked up her sword and waited for Thane to attack her or something.
Thane went through his past swings he did just a half hour ago, making sure to leave out the hit towards the face. "Oh really now? Well, I don't have a weak spot when it comes to fighting," Thane said, being honest with her. He really couldn't think of a weakness he had when it came to fighting. Maybe there really was such thing as perfection...to him.
Lin chuckled and blocked the hit. "You do to have a weak spot! Everyone has a weak spot at fighting!" Lin grinned at Thane, surly he had to have a weak spot in fighting, no one should have perfect fighting skills.
"Well, when you see a weakness, let me know," he said in a joking tone as he then reversed his sword movement. He was highly impressed with how fast she was learning and getting the hang of things. "Have you handled a sword before?" he then asked her as he used a movement, more like a trick where he swung the sword to one side and then swung it at her at the other side.
"Oh don't worry, I will..." Lin watched Thane use his sword, one of the things she learned is that she should watch the opponents sword movements, she should be able to predict them if she watches them enough. Lin nodded "Yes, I used to practice by my self, I stopped after a while tho, my mom almost found out I was practicing using a sword, a few times." Lin took a few steps to the right, then she tried too block one of thanes swing with her sword.
"Ah, I get it. Your people are against weapons?" he asked as he he kept doing his sword movement, be very careful not to endanger Lin in any injuries. "But then again...you are a lady," he then pointed out, already assuming things.
Lin nodded "They don't want me using weapons. They think I would hurt myself or something like that.". Lin would block Thane's sword if it got to close to her or if she wanted too. When she heard his comment she frowned. "What is that supposed to mean?" Lin crossed her arms and glared at Thane.
