Name: Leola Rochester
Age: 18
Background: Leola has always been one to struggle with everything. She'd be lucky if Kent State even accepts her in. Unable to get away from crying over every summer she sees her ex, she dreads for this one last summer before she's gone for good. Working at the same summer job as he at the Summer Banquet Center, she can't wait to get rid of the guilt and the pain she sees every time she sees her ex.
Personality: She's a sweet, caring, understanding girl. But her poor imposition to care about everything so much makes her seem very complainant and over dramatic. Afraid of another heartbreak, she does everything in her power to stay away from any romantic love-involving relationship. She has a lot of friends who know her to be sweet, kind, and there to listen to, but not many know her secret side of heartbreak, bruising, and scarred heart.
Other: She loves wearing white and her favorite color is powder blue. She also loves to do anything that involves costumes such as Renn. Faires.

Name: Derek Carter
Age: 19
Background: Derek grew up with all the luxuries of having wealthy parents. They weren't movie star rich, but he's never had a work a day in his life. He's been accepted to various colleges, thanks to the influence of his parents. With a year past since he finished high school, he still spends his time hanging out with friends and having a good time, not worrying much about what he should do when he grows up. Derek's older sister is 3 years into college, and often gets on his case saying that he needs to have more responsibility and to stop living off his parents.
Personality: Derek is a pretty fun loving kind of person. He often takes jokes too far and can hurt other people's feelings. His lack of responsibility makes him not appreciate his old school mates who work all the time, trying to save money to get out on their own. Even though he loves a good joke and his sarcasm is expressed in ways some people don't like, he is a reasonably nice guy. The only thing he took serious in his life was a relationship he had with a really sweet girl in school. He felt like she was often too busy with school and work, and even though she was great when she was around, he felt the need to find someone more compatible with his lifestyle. Sadly though, even with the time passes, he has yet to really move on. He dates and talks to girls, but never anything he would consider serious.
Other: He hates the taste of minty bubblegum and breath mints.

Leola sighed as she walked out of her school. Summer vacation was here already. Seemed like just yesterday, she was walking into her school as a Senior. Now she graduates. She got into her blue Camery and drove to her apartment. There, she started setting her outfit for her summer job she would be returning to tomorrow. "Can't believe someone really already paid for a Summer Banquet already," she said to herself as she stripped out of her clothes and got into her shower. She was to go out to eat with her parent within three hours.

"Come on Corey, it'll be fun," Derek shouted at his friend. He made a side step and pretended to waltz with the air. "There will be wine, women, and.. more women." He laughed hard, and smiled at his friend. 'My parents are such a drag, and I really don't want to fly solo at dinner with them." Corey shook his head, finding Derek's overzealous attempts to entice him to go to dinner was amusing, but not persuasive.

"You know I have to work tonight man, back off." Derek grunted at the reply, but smiled, trying to act like he didn't care. To lighten up the mood, he threw his arm around Jenna, Corey's girlfriend and made a sly smile.

"Maybe I'll just take your girl instead, eh?" He leaned in to kiss Jenna on the cheek but she pushed him away.

"You're such a playboy, Derek."
She giggled at him as she went to Corey's side, leaning on him. "You know I only have room in my life for one immature boy."

Derek rolled his eyes at the both of them. "Yeah yeah yeah.. Corey and Jenna." He made his voice high pitched and childish sounded. "Together... forever... You guys are a like a lame Disney movie couple. Oh well though, I'll catch up with you guys tomorrow." He waved to them both and headed to his car. After getting in, he pulled out his phone and scrolled through the contacts, looking for someone who might come with him. He paused a moment, looking a familiar name and a familiar number of a girl he used to date. He considered, but set aside the thought. He started the ignition and headed home.

Leola always had perfect work attendance. Always there early. Mostly because she wanted to hang out with friends she hadn't seen all Fall, Winter, and Spring. She let out a happy, excited chuckle when she walked into the banquet garden area to see Hayley, the gardener for the Summer Banquet Center, throwing her trimming tools to the brick pavement, running over to Leola.

Hayley had short curly glossy black hair that looked like it belonged in a sixties movie. She had on simple flare work pants and a simple plain green shirt on. She always had a sweet, open, and out going personality, as far as it seemed to Leola. They had only known each other for three summers.

She glomped Leola into a big bear hug. "Oh my gosh, Le! So great to see you!" she said in her usual excited, perky voice.

Leola chuckled and wrapped her arms around her best friend. "Great to see you too!" she said back as she then let go and straightened her white dress. "So, when does the party start? They told me to get here at one," Leola said as she looked down at her cell phone to see it was only about twelve thirty.

Hayley shrugged. "They told me two," she said as she motioned for Leola to follow her into the staff building.

Leola followed her and waved at two acquaintances she met last year. "So, they never really told me what they wanted me to do," she then pointed out as she grabbed the black apron all workers were required to wear.

Hayly bit her lip, trying to find the right way to say the orders she was to give to Leola. Leola read her face and pushed her eyebrows together, knowing that it was something she wasn't going to like. "You're to work with Derek in serving," she said in a voice just above a whisper as they walked into the kitchen to grab some extra food to munch on.

Leola rolled her eyes and let out a sigh to hide the pang set within her. Great, she thought to herself. Can my summer get any better? "For how long?" she then asked.

Hayley chuckled. "Consider yourself lucky, Le. Only four hours," she told her as she grabbed a piece of garlic toast off of the stove and thanked the cook.
