Drake noticed the small squeeze of his hand and glanced over at Lily. Her face was red, but he didn't really understand why so he pretended he didn't notice. But when he heard Grant's answer He swallowed his mouthful but then set his spoon down, suddenly feeling extremely rude. "Oh..." He said softly, embarrassed.
_________________________
A small smile crossed her face when he spoke and rubbed her head. "You're too good to me..." she mumbled as a slight shiver went through her. Curling up tighter she got closer to him. The smile stayed on her face as she heard him digging into the soup. "SO i guess it tastes okay?" she asked her voice soft. She always worried when she cooked because she did everything from memory. Meaning that if anyone moved the herbs and dint put them back in the right place she would have added a mixture of awful things instead of things that tasted good.

Diva smiled, crossing her feet together as Sarah spoke. She was confused, that much was certain, but as to how she would react to it from now on was what Diva needed to find out. It wasn't that Diva was being nosy, but she wanted to help Sarah sort her feelings out on the matter.
"He did." Diva agreed, looking at Sarah, "Did you not like it? Would you not want him to hug you again?"

Rik blushed at Diva's comment about him liking her. He did like her, but he didn't know how much. He rubbed his face as she got up. "T-thanks, Diva." He said as she went off to go find Sarah. He was slightly hungry, but he was too distracted to think about eating right now. What Diva had told him about Sarah and his own mixed feelings had him thinking hard. He hadn't felt that way about anyone before. He sat there, on the couch while the others ate, his elbows on his knees and his hands rubbing his face. He would have to shave soon. He face was scratchy with golden stubble, it felt like a cat's tongue. His fair skin was flushed at the thought of him and Sarah.
Rik leaned back on the couch, thinking and sorting through his thoughts and feelings. He couldn't stand the thought of him hurting her. What if she could only take a little bit of his charge? What would happen if he was angry and she touched him? She could get hurt and he would never forgive himself if he did.

Grant sat up in his chair, "Oh, no, no. It's fine Drake. Go ahead and eat. I just need to make sure everyone eats enough." He drummed his fingers on the table with a slight frown, then smiled at him before getting up to go into the living room, announcing that dinner was ready before he returned to the table.
"Oh, yeah. It's great." He answered, almost halfway finished with the bowl when he finally set it aside, still hungry but wanting to save some for her. He made sure to set it where she wouldn't accidentally spill it. Finished eating he pulled her into his lap and backed up to lean against the wall, holding her similarly to when she'd first arrived.
Sarah blinked at her question before looking away, shaking her head, "I don't know. I didn't not like it but," She paused as she tried to find the right way to say it. "I liked it but I'm.. I panicked." she answered finally, wringing her hands together again and looking at them. She could still feel her palm tingling where she'd touched his hand. Suddenly she felt guilty for running away when he hugged her, sorting through the conversation she realized that he'd just been excited. He probably wasn't thinking at that moment and acted on impulse.

"Well, that's understandable." Diva said, trying to let Sarah know that she hadn't been completely without cause to act as she had. For someone who normally kept to themselves, and rarely showed any inclination to touch another, this was a big change. Plus, Sarah had only just met Rik and had both talked and touched him. When Diva had arrived at the house, Sarah had stared at her, but said nothing. The only conversation they had was the exchanging of names and that was it. It had been a week or two before they had actually talked beyond that of names and Sarah had been the one to initiate it. It started off with a vision she had and it had progressed from there, the two coming to a mutual understanding of one another.
"You just got overwhelmed." Diva continued, "It happens to everyone; look at me, I got that way earlier today, too. It doesn't mean you can't talk to him, anymore. In fact, he'd very much like to talk to you again. He was really concerned when you left. Just go at your own pace, Sarah. He seems the kind of guy to respect that, though I suspect he's going to be asking a lot more questions before doing anything like hugging you again."
She said the last portion in a light teasing manner, trying to bring Sarah's spirits back up. This day just kept getting stranger and stranger, but you weren't going to hear Diva complaining. It was nice to have what she was sure were "normal problems" with non-Broken.

Rik was dragged out of this thoughts when Grant came out and said dinner was finished. He got up and walked into the kitchen, giving everyone a soft smile. He grabbed himself a bowl of food and sat at the table across from Grant. He ate most of his food without speaking, his mind still working out what was going on with him. "Ah..that was delicious. " He said after finishing. "I'll thank Molly for the wonderful food." He said.
He looked around or a moment, before he gazed out the window. He began to get lost in thought, not seeing anyone else in the room anymore.

Sarah looked at Diva as she spoke, nodding, "I know. It's just..." She sighed, rubbing her temples, "When I meet people I have visions of them. I don't know what to think of my vision of him." She said softly, smiling as Diva teased her. She acted much like a normal person, more talkative, less cranky, after touching Rik earlier. She stood after a few moments then waited for Diva a moment, "Thanks. That helped. I need to eat though." The girl, or woman, moved off for the kitchen, blushing when she entered to see Rik there. She turned quickly to the soup and got herself a bowl, going over to Grant to sit on his knee when she found Richard had taken the last free chair.

"Anytime, Sarah." Diva smiled, "You know I'm always here to help."
She followed behind Sarah into the kitchen, taking the last bowel and ladling some soup. It was at the perfect temperature and she enjoyed the food. The vegetables were perfect and the broth they were in made her want to savor it. She took slow bites, leaning against the counter since there weren't any seats left, and just enjoyed it. It was nice that there were so many people, though she had an inkling of what she was going to do with some of the trading items next time. If they were lucky, they'd be able to haggle for some more chairs.

Rik's attention went to Sarah as soon as she came in. He tried not to stare at her as he knew that would make her uncomfortable. He stood, grabbing his empty bowl, pulling out the chair as Diva came in. "Here, you can have my seat." He said to her, smiling lightly. He was happy to see that Sarah had come out from hiding, he smiled at her. He went to the sink to wash his bowl. When he was finished he leaned against the counter and watched everyone, his eyes always resting on Sarah every few minutes. He wanted to talk to her some more, but he didn't want to push her.
He watched her and Grant together, when she sat in his lap she looked like a little girl. It made him smile softly. He was unaware of it, his smokey grey eyes were light and his eyelids were lowered. He liked being here, he was glad he came here. It felt like home, it was home for him. Mainly because he got to meet her, the thought made him smirk.

Sarah tried her best to ignore Rik as he stared at her, or rather tried not to stare while at the same time managing to give her the same prickling feeling on her skin when she was being stared at. As soon as she'd tat on Grant's knee he had begun bouncing his leg unconsciously but when she spluttered and coughed on some of the broth he abruptly quit. "Sorry, I always forget." By her lack of reaction and Grant's apology, it was something that happened often.
As Richard stood up to rinse his bowl she looked up apologetically, "Rich, please?" She asked and the boy nodded politely, knowing that she would rinse it herself if she was tall enough to easily reach the sink. She'd actually ended up with a nasty few bruises once when she was being particularly stubborn and antisocial one day and had tried pulling out a drawer to get up to the sink. Everyone knew that Sarah felt the same way as Molly, the only difference being that Sarah was quieter about it.

Rik had moved out of the way for Rich as he came to wash their bowls out. Rik could tell he was creeping Sarah out so he decided to excuse himself out of the kitchen. He walked into the living room, kind of pacing slightly before sitting. He sat on the couch trying hard not look into the kitchen at her. He looked around the living room, wondering where the three of them were going to sleep. He looked at the couch, thinking he could just sleep there until they found a suitable place for them all.
"Get a hold of yourself, man." He whispered to himself. He ran his hands through his hair, it standing up in all sorts of places. He sat back on the couch, reaching for his bag. He pulled out an old and tattered book. He had found it before leaving the vault he had woken up in. It was Romeo and Juliet, he was rather entranced by their love story. Not that he'd ever admit it to anyone. No, he wouldn't admit he was a sap for love stories or cute fuzzy animals.

Drake was quick to finish his food, but his stomach still complained. He sat their and ignored it, knowing that Grant was right. This was a family, he couldn't be selfish, he had to make sure everyone was fed not just himself. Drake leaned back in his chair and put and arm behind Lily, resting it on her shoulder so she could have her hand back to eat.
_______________________________
Molly didn't protest when she was pulled up onto Trent's lap. Remembering the day she first showed up and woke up like this, a small smile tugged at her lips. She wrapped an arm around his neck as she rested her head on his shoulder. He was comfortable, far more so than her thin mattress. As she sat there, Molly tried to not think of anything, to let her head rest. But her mind stayed glued to Trent, she couldn't help but think of how happy she was she had finally gotten through his thick skull.
With Trent's arms around her, Molly was finally able to drift into a light sleep. Hopefully the pain would be gone when she woke from her nap, but she also hoped that Trent would still be there.

When Drake had finished his bowl Grant noticed that he looked hungry still and the man motioned toward the pot, "Go on, go grab some more. Everyone who's eating has eaten so now we need to finish off the rest of it or it'll go to waste." the large man said. He hadn't eaten yet but he rather make sure his newcomers were fed well in their first night here.
Trent noticed when Molly fell asleep in his arms and he seemed to relax, he was glad the girl was able to sleep some with her head aching as it was.
When Rik left the room Sarah noticed, she looked at him fully when he left, her expression almost disappointed but she didn't get to focus on it long as she was distracted by getting of the large Grant's lap when he started bouncing her again. She didn't know where to go so softly announced she'd be in the rooms. She'd never been given a room all her own before or told specifically which room was hers so she would usually be in Molly's room when it was unoccupied but sleep in Diva's when Molly was in her own room. She passed out of the door and stopped when she saw Rik with his book, noticing what it was about she smiled but tried hiding it.

Drake looked to Grant and nodded. But Lily was still eating and he didn't want to make her get up for him. So he took his bowl and got to his feet giving her shoulder a gentle squeeze. Then he let her go and went to the stove to get more food. Almost instantly the temperature in the room began to rise. As quick as he could, drake got himself some more food and hurried back to Lilys side, but not before his shirt started smoking. He put a hand back on her shoulder to cool himself down and looked over to grant. "sorry, I didn't thunk I'd heat up that quick." he said apologetically.

Grant shrugged off Drake's apology, but he'd noticed Lilly's frown when her soup had gone ice cold. The only indication that anything had changed with her was her small frown and the halt of the small line of steam that had been rising from her bowl, "I don't see why you should be sorry. The house is fine and no one got hurt." He leaned far back in his chair, watching the two closely. When Drake sat back down beside her she pushed her bowl away, only a third of it gone, "I would've gotten up with you if you'd asked." she set her hand on his arm as her stomach gurgled unhappily. She'd been eating slowly, happy to have warm food, food that didn't hurt to try to chew, but her last bit of it was too cold and the sudden change of temperature from hot, to her at least, to freezing had hit her stomach wrong.

Drake frowned. "I'm sorry." He said to her quietly. "I probably should've thought that through more." He spoke softly to her and slid his bowl over to her so she could have some hot food. "I was just trying to be nice, you know, I feel bad that you have to follow me everywhere." His face flushed. He really did feel bad, but he also liked having her with him. He just didn't want her to get sick of being with him constantly. A sigh escaped him as he leaned back in his chair, his appetite was gone now that he felt like a total jackass. He put a hand on the back of her chair and absently let his fingers twirl a small piece of her hair.
Now he felt like he had to make up for his stupid mistake. But what could he do? He let his head fall back as he thought, but nothing was coming to mind.

She slid his bowl back over to him with a slight frown, "Yeah, I know and it's fine. You eat it. Mine will be back to room temperature in a couple minutes and that's warm enough for me." she said then confusion crossed her face as she realized what he'd said, "Why?" she didn't remember having done anything that would make him feel bad or suggest she didn't want to have to be so close to him. The only reason she could find was that he was growing tired of her having to always be near him to cool him. She chewed on her lip as a thought occurred to her. "Oh." she breathed with realization.
When Drake had told her he liked her it'd been before they'd been taken in by Grant, she'd been the only girl to choose from but now there were three other girls. Of course he'd change his mind, even if Molly was taken and Sarah was too small, Diva was available. She couldn't blame him at all. Diva was very pretty, her eyes were a little unsettling at first but at least she was the proper color and height for a girl, friendly and nice too. He wouldn't really want an over sized smurf, no one would. Her face fell as she looked at Grant, watching him as he turned his attention to the falling darkness outside the window and got up to begin lighting candles. She hid behind her hair and whispered, "Great day for a smurf Smurfette." as she glared at her hand laid flat on the table. The humans loved to tease her and she'd earned the name Smurfette with most of the elderly men and women in a lot of towns.

Drake heard her comment and it felt like a fist just hit him in the gut. He ran a hand over his face. Great, i just had to open my big mouth. He thought. But as hard as he tried he couldn't figure out what he said that came out wrong, but obviously something did. He let out a sigh and got to his feet pulling Lily with him. He looked at her and gave her a small smile. "Come with me for a sec."
Before she had a chance to protest he drug her out of the room and into the living room, but when he saw Rik on the couch reading, he changed direction and headed to the door that led outside. Once they were both outside Drake shut the door and turned to face her. He scratched his head and opened his mouth to say something but nothing came out. Drake tried to organize his thoughts but he was so scattered all the time it never worked.
"Listen Lilian. I'm not exactly the brightest guy in the world and i make a lot of mistakes. I don't really know what i said in there to upset you, but I'm sorry i said it. I didn't mean however you took it..." He let out a frustrated grunt. "I'm so bad at explaining things... Look, i like you. I like you a lot. I like holding your hand and having you with me. I just do so many stupid things that I'm worried you are going to not like me." His face flushed and he looked away from her for a moment. He sat her down on the front step and sat down next to her. After he put her hand on his knee he reached behind his neck and unhooked the chain he always wore. He looked at it for a moment before he reached around her and hooked it around her neck. "That's special to me and i want a special person to have it... I'm just kind of hoping that one day i can mean a lot to you." he added softly.
Drake stared down at his feet, unsure of what to do next. He had got it all off his chest. He did his best at explaining what was running through his head, but now he had to see what she would do. He just prayed that his jumbled mess of words made some kind of sense.

Diva thanked Rik when he offered her the seat, sitting down to enjoy the rest of her meal. She even had a bit of a show, or a scare if you wanted to think of it that way, when Drake walked to get more soup and his shirt began to smoke. Diva hoped Grant would be able to help Drake control his powers so that he'd be able to walk around by himself without having the danger of igniting anything he touched. Lilly seemed disturbed by Drake's apology and soon the two were walking out the kitchen.
"Hm." Diva said noncommitantly, finishing up her soup before washing it out. There was only Richard and Grant left in the kitchen, Sarah having left a little bit before Drake and Lilly. You couldn't deny it, when Grant was bouncing Sarah on his knee, it was downright cute. It looked like a father playing with his daughter, something that was bittersweet. Diva had never asked what had happened to anyone else's family, but she assumed they had either rejected the now Broken or had been killed.
Sitting back at the table across from Richard, she grinned, "Grant says we'll be testing out Lilly, Drake, and Rik tomorrow. How easy are you going to go on them?"

Rik had been trying to read the same page for the last ten minutes or so. He couldn't get the thought of her freaking out at him hugging her out of his head. It would torment him for a good long while, until either he or she did something about it. His brows had formed a frowned as he tried to concentrate on his page he was reading. He couldn't understand why it brothered him so much to think of her being appalled by him. He felt a draw to her, felt a strong sort of connection to her, he wanted to explore it. He wanted to know why he felt so strongly towards her.
Movement from the kitchen caught his eye. He looked up from his book to see that Sarah had left the kitchen, kind of pausing in the living room. He looked back down quickly, only to give little peeks over the edge of the book at her. The charge in his body had returned to it's normal current, which was higher than anyone else's. Any electronic devices around him would soon fizzle out and stop working. He had done so in a town a while ago, their defenses were ran by a computer and when Rik neared it, it fried out. He was at his normal level of charge that would shock everyone else just slightly if they touched him. He sighed and closed his book, laying it down on his lap. He wasn't able to concentrate on reading any longer, so he just sat there, thinking.

Lilly listened to him, quiet even as he put the chain around her neck, picking it up and letting it slide out of her fingers before she looked at him again, her expression was a mixture of things mostly a mild blank surprise but finally she leaned over and hugged him tightly. "I'm sorry. I just.. I thought that you changed your mind. That you meant you liked me when I was the only girl but then you changed your mind now that there were..." She paused for a long moment before looking at him, "I guess I just thought that I was better than nothing but you really wouldn't want a-a smurf if you had another option." Her words were only slightly muffled with the way she was hugging him. "You already mean a lot." She said softly, "I like being warm but more than that I like being around you. Even if we didn't have this problem with our powers I'd want to be around you."
Richard smiled wickedly at Diva's question and turned in his chair to face him, "Of course not! Where'd be the fun in that?" He asked, laughing a little, "I heard him say you get to help test them. You excited?"
"Um... Hey, I'm sorry I freaked out like that." The small girl said softly, it was softer than her normal voice, quiet enough to be nearly inaudible as she stared intently at the floor as if debating on whether to stay or to make a dash for Diva's room. She knew even if she did make a run out she would be easily caught and she'd stumble. She was feeling fatigued again.

Diva laughed at the wicked smile that was plastered across Richard's face. Really, the guy was such an imp, but she loved him anyway. She had been an only child until coming to the house, and now she considered herself to have four siblings...well, seven if you counted the arrival and Lilly, Drake, and Rik, which she certainly would. Grant couldn't be called a sibling, but he could be an uncle or even her second father. Just thinking about that made it feel as if a sudden prick had hit her heart. It didn't matter how long ago it had been, she missed her mother and father, and she had to lock the images of their bloody corpses out, along with the maddened stare of...well, she didn't like to think about that.
She didn't like where her thought process was going, so she diverted her attention back to Richard's question, giving a nervous laugh, "I am, though I hope I'll be of use. I'm hoping to get my powers more under control so that I can use them for physical attacks instead of just jumping around. Who knows, I might be able to have a match with you...and win."
She gave a challenging smirk, knowing that the boy loved competition. He had been the first person Grant picked up and so was the most experienced. Diva certainly wouldn't stand a chance against him in her current state, but if she trained enough, maybe she'd be able to get at least one hit in.

Drake wrapped his arms tight around Lily and smiled as she spoke. He was happy that she felt the same way he did. When she finished he pulled away so he could see her. He put on hand on her cheek and used the other to brush a piece of hair from her face. "Lilian, you are beautiful. I wouldn't want you any other way and even if we didn't have these stupid powers I would want to be right next to you." He gave her a lopsided grin. His heart was racing, and he didn't want to chicken out, so before he could change his mind Drake pulled her face to his and gently pressed his lips to her. He had never kissed anyone before and had no idea if he did it right. When he pulled away his face was red and he couldn't bring himself to look at her. "S-sorry about that."

Molly slowly woke up to the sound of someone snoring. She pulled her bandages off her eyes and let them fall to the floor as she looked at the red form she was sitting on. It was strange how peoples colors dimmed when they slept. A small smile crossed her face as she sat up in his lap. "Trent." She said softly. "Trent wake up." The boy didn't stir. Molly shook her head, he was such a heavy sleeper. With a small hand, she gently turned his head towards her and grinned. "If this doesn't wake you up i don't know what will." She said before she leaned in and locked her lips with his.

Rik looked up at the small young woman in front of him. "No, don't be. I over stepped my boundaries, we just met and I shouldn't have been so physical with you." He said, moving his book from his lap. He gave her a reassuring smile, his eyes wrinkling slightly at the corners. "Just don't be scared of me. I find you really interesting and I would hate it if you didn't want to talk to me." He blurted out. He couldn't help it, he wanted to get it all out in the open. He could tell she was returning to her normal slower paced self. He wanted to touch her again, just to see her light up again. He liked seeing her full of life, even if she was yelling at him.

Lilly's eyes shot wide as she was kissed, shocked at first but when he let her go she felt her cheeks prickle and turn cold, "Um....." It was all she could really say to him as she stared off, shocked. After a few minutes she looked at him again and hugged him again, setting her head on his shoulder with a smile, "I think actually I needed that. I've never felt even remotely pretty but I feel better now."
Trent's snoring cut off sharply but he woke considerably slower as first his eyes slowly opened then began to widen and finally he was completely awake when he realized what had woken him. He gently pulled Molly away with a smile for a moment reorienting himself before giving her a peck on the lips, "Well, I think that's probably the best wake up call Ive ever gotten." He told her with a bit of a grin.
Richard laughed before crossing his arms over his chest, "Oh? Well we'll see, shall we?" He said with a cocky grin, drumming his fingers on the wood under his hands and looking mockingly surprised as a leaf popped out. It was all a joke though. Something he often did to lighten the mood when he felt that someone was getting depressed or sometimes just to be funny.
Sarah's eyes widened as he spoke and she glanced up at him before looking back at the floor, beginning to make for the door to the hall and giving Rik a wide berth, still scared of the draw to him she felt, "I'm.. I'm not scared." She didn't think she was. She got to the door leading out of the living room and looked into the hall before looking at Rik again, seeming to be waiting for something. She was waiting for something but she didn't know what it was.
